The Kingsway in Ashfield

Passed this place many times, so it was a first. Looks like it was done up relatively recently, decor looks pretty good and a nice layout. Had the half roast chicken, which had various options. Not your usual fayre in regular places, but it was good as it was. 4 options to fit most palates, sauces, chips, mash etc. Recommended!

I ordered off the light lunch menu and was there to get a quick, cheap bite to eat in between visits for work and they completely exceeded my expectations! I was the first one in at 12 in the afternoon so it was quiet but got busier after 12.30 when people were turning up for lunch. I ordered the tomato soup and the scampi and chips as a meal deal at £7!!!!! For TWO course!! Absolutely bargain if you ask me. The food came out quicker than expected which I'm always wary about but it was delicious, very hot and well presented. It wasn't long after I finished my starter that my main was ready, the manager did ask if I wanted to wait a bit for my main which I normally would have but I was on a tight schedule with work so told her to bring it right out. Less than 10 minutes later it was on the table and again delicious!!! Chips and Scampi nice and crispy, mushy peas were fabulous and I love tartare sauce and it was lovely. The manager served me and she had another member of staff on the bar who took my order originally. Both polite and engaged in conversation. I'm glad I popped in and will definitely be returning with my family. Great food, great atmosphere and even better service 👌

Was pleasantly surprised by the Sunday lunch. Meat was good, Yorkshire pudding was huge, lots of veg and gravy was tasty. The only thing that let it down for me was the roasts, I like mine brown and crispy, but not everyone likes the same. Having said that it was a good experience. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely return.

Okay for a local pub but staff needs training on how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. It was shocking to say the least.

Service was excellent, most of the food was good. The one meal not very good was the fish. To much batter and the fish was tasteless. Too many dogs for my liking, food being served? First time for along, my try again don't know.

More than just the usual pub fare menu, lots to choose from with a daytime offer of selected mains on for 2 for £16. Large space, lots of seating.

My family &I came here the other week for first time. Food was lovely I had veggie curry. I think tho there needs to be more vegetarian dishes I.e veg lasagne. Delicious tho. We will come back

Great little pub, good food, and great service. Music is not too loud so you can talk. The food was really good at a reasonable price too. I would recommend for sure.

Lovely place to stop for a cappuccino with the dog. We didn't have time to eat, but we'll definitely be back for a meal. The menu contains a good range of reasonably priced meals and snacks.

By the time my meal had arrived, my friends were already half way through there's. Chicken was dry and overcooked

Nice place for a meal. Staff friendly and up for banter I was part of a funeral party and it would have been nice to open up for us when we arrived. Granted they don't open until 12 however it was a sunny day and no shade was available for people in wheelchairs.

Really pleasant atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Menu is not huge, but there is still enough choice, and prices largely are very good. Portion sizes are large and the quality is good, I had a burger and chips and was very impressed and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. A good evening and my first visit here. Definitely a place I will visit again. Not quite a five star review due to an error in service in which we had to ask for some of the items from a couple of dishes, corrections were prompt. Regardless, worth a visit!

This was our first time here at The Kingsway. The staff are amazing, very friendly. A good choice on the menu, the food was hot and presented perfectly. Would recommend this place. We will be coming here again.

Lovely meal with friends great staff

Went for a quick bite to eat for midweek lunch break. No other customers in so served promptly. Food was a little disappointing - Ciabatta bread just isn't pleasant when it's served cold - dry and chewy in a bad way. If they'd have just toasted it before serving it, I'm sure it would've been fine. Guy who brought it to the table seemed pleasant/friendly enough.

Edit, revisited yesterday for lunch with the family, I must say that I had high expectations for this place as I went before, alas I was wrong, the staff weren't as friendly as before it was as if everybody else was more important, and it shows, we waited nearly an hour to receive our tasty meals, the food was over cooked and you could tell the chips were cheap and frozen I know that restaurants used frozen ones but these werent the best texture, also the prices of each plate were ridiculous for the amount of food you received. The staff never did a check back and we had to ask at the bar for our desserts , so if you want a local pub with a local atmosphere with below par meals and in attentive staff then this is the place for you

Lunchtime 8oz steak, chips, peas, grilled tomato, 1 mushroom and a drink for £12, you can't go wrong. All hot and steak cooked just as asked for. It was our first visit but would definitely go again. Friendly landlady/ bar staff

It's alright for a drink not the best place in kirkby but convenient for the new estate.

First time to the Kingsway in a while and was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed the Sunday roast and kids meals were great value and included an ice cream dessert. Service was attentive and polite.

Food was lovley but the lady that served us was rude to me and my child the way she was coming across was bang out of order. If I want to order a ice cream I should be allowed am paying for it you shouldn't need to start criticism me telling me its not just made for us its made to share with more people and that ive already ordered this and that so why do I need to order a ice cream on top..... so what if am ordering somthing else ? Why stand there complaining. Upset my disabled girl and really upset me worst experience ever
