We called in here after walking around Woodstock taking in the superb location. This place looked warm and inviting so we called in for a drink and relaxed. The staff here were really very friendly and efficient and we both felt very much at home. Drinks are reasonably priced which is always a bonus. We wouldn't hesitate to come here again. Thank You.

We've been here for lunch, drinks and dinner but never stayed. This year we stayed for the Blenheim triathlon. Good rooms, easy to do online check in, nicely stocked rooms and had all that was needed for a good stay. The room was compact - the shower room especially but it had nice touches and the food at breakfast and lunch was good. Would recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

A late afternoon lunch at the venerable King's Arms (Fullers) was unexpectedly impressive; they had quickly picked up speed after lockdown; the welcome was immediate and the evident attention to virus safety good to see; the menu had daily specials and the food was excellent; it was obvious from the customer mix that there was something here for everyone - i.e. true hospitality altogether it merits a big round of applause

We've been to this venue a few times over the last few years. Great location, central Woodstock, nicely done (inside and out), good service and all nicely Covid safe I felt. The food menu has changed I think since last year but it was good. Friendly service, relaxed and safe vibe, good menu. Great choice of drinks. Loved the squid starter. Nice pizzas, tasty toppings, good size (not too big for one) although I found them a bit doughy. I know it's pizza so it's obviously going to have dough it just felt like the base of the pizza could have been more pizza express rather than pizza hut. That said, this place is great and I will be back. It's got such a nice vibe and when the weather is good you can sit outside so it's well worth stopping off at.

The bedrooms were comfortable and had everything we needed, bathroom the same but the noise from the early morning traffic and the empty bottles being dumped in the skip outside meant there was little chance of peaceful sleep after 6am. The communal area, especially near Reception didnt smell very fresh, reminded me of a nursing home . Not nice. Few scented candles maybe ? Some of the staff serving breakfast and on Reception were diffident and inattentive and breakfast was disappointing given the room rate. Even an hour before service finished the cereal was in low supply, I had to raid other tables for marmalade and couldn't find any.Had to ask twice for a place to be set for me and for milk for my tea while the waitress was eating herself. Had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on the second day which was colourless and rubbery and dry. In the bar on the first night we ordered a couple of starters to have with a drink as we weren't hungry enough for a full meal. Good thing as the portions were comically small. Wouldn't be my first choice at all even given the popularity of the town and the time of year, I'd rather stay out of town than spend this sort of money for such an average experience.

Sunday early evening, four of us, two had the lamb Sunday roast, one had fish and chips and the other opted for the burger. Lamb was over cooked and very dry, roast potatoes were so hard they couldn’t be cut through, Yorkshire pudding was also rock hard. My partner asked for some gravey with arrived 30 mins after she requested it. The chips on the other meals were cold, hard and tasteless. The server was most unhelpful and had no customer service skills. Overpriced terrible food with bad service. Will not go again and would not recommend

Strange start to this booking. We popped in on a Friday to book for Saturday and was told quickly there was no space. But a quick check on their website showed loads of bookings available, and when we went on Saturday the restaurant was only a third to half full at any time. The food was generally alright though my rib eye steak was on the well done side of medium. But the service was without smile and intermittent.

The pub is now only sells pies. My pie had a raw top., bulllets of meat in a thin sauce and accompanied by reheated very grey veg. Went with a group who had cold mash (shared because they had run out) the same grey veg and variable pies. Tried to complain discreetly, but it was met by indifference, then rudeness and no dessert offered. Pretty awful.

'Ladies who Lunch' of a certain age, pre-booked their Harvest Lunch at The Kings Head, Park Street, Woodstock. We had a bad experience at another local restaurant last year, so a bit apprehensive. No need to have worried. Excellent service, on time, hot food, tasty and pleasant atmosphere. Gregg & Sam our hosts were very understanding of our needs. Our eldest member being 95yrs of age, would have liked a smaller portion, but all were well fed. The desserts were delicious and fresh. Good choice of coffees finished the meal nicely. At our next gathering we will be planning the 2019 programme - we could well be going there for our New Year lunch !

This is quite a small pub but very cozy. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and in the snug but not in the main restaurant. We booked ahead (good thing really, the town was very busy) and the internet booking system worked well - even reminding us of the booking about 2 hours beforehand. The Sunday meal was a traditional roast and each of us had a different meat and the meals were really good. Recommended. Why only 4*s ? As I said the place is quite small and there were a number of young kids running around screaming, with little parental control and also the older folk at the bar were a little choice with their language which would offend some . .some very strong swear words used. The place was very busy and I think our booking got shifted from the snug to the side of the main bar because of the large party of parents & children (and so as a consequence were rather closer to the bar & heard the industrial language). The restaurant looked nice but as we had dog, we couldn't eat there (fair enough). So a good meal but perhaps the owners could moderate some of the behaviours of the patrons.

What the heck were they thinking when they ripped out the comfortable bench seating and put in oversized sofas. There is virtually no seating by what was once a lovely open fire. The modern wood panelling looks as though its been installed by an amateur and painted by another. The sofas in the middle room are tatty and covered in spilt drinks. There was virtually no-one in and I am not surprised. This pub needs to regain some of it's old charm to woo back the locals and tourists. Also needs to be more welcoming - felt we were intruding and an inconvenience.

This was our first visit to this restaurant for dinner. My husband booked beforehand and asked for a table at the back of the restaurant and was assured this would be fine. When we arrived the table was not available and we were offered one at the front. To be fair it was fine, nice and warm and set in a corner away from the corridor although the chairs had seen better days. The staff were very good and our service was quick even though the restaurant was full. I know we could have asked for tap water but it would have nice to have some on the table or at least be asked if we wanted some. The pork belly was tender but the top was soggy rind and should have been crispy crackling. The chef needs to sort that one as it would have made an OK belly pork into something really nice. A nice range of deserts and we had a very good sticky toffee pudding, nice and moist. There were more positives than negatives but overall I felt disappointed which is such a shame as I feel this is not the usual experience.

Visited here for the father in laws birthday. Have been before, remembered it was just off the beaten track in Woodstock, hidden down a side road, so thought we'd stand a better chance of getting a table. To our surprise the pub was empty, we weren't even sure if they were open but the chap behind the bar told us they were serving food so we gave it a go. The do Sunday roasts on Sunday, but wasn't an option as it was a Saturday. The menu was very Italian themed and the only downside was that the menu choice was quite small. But I have to say what they served was very tasty and reasonably priced. Beer and service was also good, although we were the only customers so I'd expect the service to be good! All in all I'd recommend for a lunch or dinner.

Visited this back street pub after a lovely enjoyable evening in the heart of Woodstock. What a contrast and disappointment. No greeting by the bar staff on arrival, had to persuade her to serve me the red wine I wanted, not the one she had opened. Found this restaurant when staying in Woodstock and what a gem. Modern interior with a bustling atmosphere and attentive staff. My companion and I started with grilled sardines and scallops. Both very tasty dishes that were cooked perfectly. Main course of sea bass saw a generous portion of fish cooked very well and served with a butter sauce. The other main purse of Blade of Beef was excellent and both dishes came with ample portion of accompanying side dishes. All served on hot plates looking clean and appealing.Rhubarb posset to follow and a couple of cheeses. If there was a little let down it was the size of the cheese portion each at £3 each.Overall an excellent restaurant that serves recognition and my high test rating.

Vintage pub well hidden away in very attractive village of Woodstock. Impression of pub good upon our entry at the bar. However rear dining areas and corridor unattractive. We were the sole trio of customers for lunch. Food was like school dinners. Pork not cooked thoroughly and discounted from the bill at least. For non alcohol only had orange juice choice. No alcohol free beer either and no glass of wine shown in the tariff. Hopefully there are far better venues in Woodstock where incidentally ease of parking is a problem.

We booked here, mistaking it for the Kings Arms (a totally different experience). We were welcomed in a lovely way but then were left alone for 15 minutes. The original waiter then came back and said can I take a drinks order. Yes please, a bottle of house red. I will get the wine waiter for you ! He then left, 5 minutes passed and then a young lady arrived who didn't say anything but removed one of the wine glasses and put it on another table. She then said, what would you like ? we said a bottle of house red please, oh and we'll need another glass. She then wrote this on a pad, gave us back our original wine glass and disappeared. Literally 30 seconds later the original waiter arrived with the bottle ? So, what was the point of the waitress writing it down but not delivering the wine ? Truly bizarre. Two of us went for starters. I had the calamari which was not seasoned and swimming in water on a plate with some limp lettuce. I tried to add some salt, but the cellar had gummed up, so I had to remove the bottom plug to get any out. The other starter was salmon gravlax (sic). This was just some measly smoked salmon out of a packet wrapped around the worlds supply of cream cheese. I was dreading the mains coming, two roast beef and one roast lamb. We were all pleasantly surprised, as they were good, verging on over seasoned for me, but still good. The only weird thing was the condiment 'plate' which was removed from one table and given to us. No new condiments here, share and share alike. We didn't go for pudding and just left. We wouldn't return.

I've had better food in canteens for the half the price. We had the Sunday Roast and chose pork. The very thin slices of pork still managed to be dry and chewy in spite of having been drowned in overly salty gravy. The veg was fine but uninspiring. The roast potatoes were just about done but not really up to standard. The Yorkshire pudding (odd to have with roast pork) seemed like filler and without it you would undoubtedly go home hungry. Overall not what you would expect for £11.50.Service was attentive but complicated by the fact that one waiter could only serve drinks and one could only serve food.

Wow.You wouldn't believe what lies behind that utterly un-presuming entrance door in a quiet back street. We went there on a Sunday afternoon, to have a drink and perhaps read the papers in the sun. We had noticed a back court-yard whilst passing earlier. But, when we tentatively walked through that door ??.What a place. Beautiful, clean, sharp, stylish bar area, friendly locals to one side, then opening up to a restaurant area, and then a beautiful walled court-yard festooned with hanging baskets and pot-plants, sun shades at every red/white clothed table.Very 'continental'.Welcomed by charming host Giovanni, who, we learned, had opened the first Italian restaurant in Oxford in 1962, ran it for 60 years, and now retired to run this marvellous place. This place exudes happiness, both staff and customers who are in on this secret.Several families were having lunch at long tables both inside and out, a great atmosphere.Wonderful ambience, wonderful food, and wonderful service. What else could anyone want ??.We will come back, it's only 200 miles, stay in the Woodstock Inn, just to come here to ''The King's Head''. We could not fault the service or the food.We were visiting Blenheim Palace and went to the palace first, we had booked the meal for 12:30 and it took about 20 minutes leisurely walk from the palace grounds to the pub located in Park Lane. The palace ticket allows re-entry.Thoroughly recommended.

The pub is tucked away in a back street, but not to be missed. You get a warm welcome and the food is good and the portions are large - an excellent place for hungry diners.

Would thoroughly recommend this hidden Jem. Standing in front t of palace facing tall needle Monument look towards 2 o'clock position stone entrance arch. Walkout through that gate turn right turn Immediately right again along alleyway that follows the palace grounds boundary and you will come to this small entrance to the pub. Don't be fooled it's a TARDIS inside a very pleasant discovery

We arrived at 'The King's Head' after a particularly unsatisfactory foray into another restaurant in Woodstock, on the offchance a table might be available. 'One moment, I'll see' we were told with a smile, followed swiftly by 'Do please come this way, and my colleague will greet you in the dining room'. A smiling colleague did greet us almost immediately, we were shown to a delightful table and very shortly yet another smiling colleague took our order. A superb meal followed, with excellent wine choice - and throughout the evening the atmosphere at The King's Head was wonderful. Thank you to Sacha and to Libby for making our only evening in Woodstock a great success.

There is a small bar, which seemed to be well used, and also a very pleasant, and comfortable dining area. We had three courses each and everything was just right, served at the appropriate temperature and full of flavour. Price wise it was very reasonable and the service was excellent. We would certainly go back

We were given lunch here as part of a visit to Blenheim and we weren't disappointed. We had a table overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard itself was lovely with hanging baskets etc. We had the soup and garlic mushrooms to start. Both were very good and hot. Our mains were the chicken and penne. Again both were excellent . The service was good and I would visit again

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Kings Head restaurant. We had authentic Italian food that was so good we ate there again the next evening! The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We had Sunday lunch here as part of a Buy-a-gift package we had received. We weren't disappointed. There was plentyOf choice. We settled on the roast dinner which was perfectly cooked. Our dessert of home made Tiramisu was the best I've ever tasted. The dining room was light and airy and set out to leave plenty of room between tables. The proprietor and staff were friendly. We would dine here again.

We visit this lovely pub every Thursday for a drink after our choir rehearsals. Full of friendly locals and served by lovely staff. Called late (10pm) last night after our concert in Woodstock Church with two of the soloists who hadn't eaten. Food service had finished but wonderful landlord rustled up some chips for us. How kind! Can't think of another pub in Woodstock who would do that!We have also eaten a full meal here and the food is great. Watch out for their "Fish nights" about once a month on a Friday - delicious Mediterranean recipes and good atmosphere. You'll find this pub down a side street (turn left just after Co-op) - there's usually a sandwich board advertising "Kings Head" on the corner.

In an unfashionable lane only a few yards from the main shopping streets this unassuming pub is a hidden gem. A friendly welcoming landlord. An innovative and original menu produced by an Italian chef: the food is freshly prepared and cooked to a very high standard. Cheaper and far better than most other establishments nearby.Excellent real ale too.

Visited this pub every day whilst staying at Blaydon Chains, the Wainwright Ale was exceptional, you always got a warm welcome, the snacks were very tasty and we would relax and chat about our day in very friendly surroundings. Make sure you visit this pub if you are in the area.

After spending 2 hours walking around the extensive grounds of Blenheim Palace we decided to explore Woodstock and eat lunch there before returning to 'the house'. We had two 2 - course meals (bruschetta, garlic mushrooms and stuffed chicken) which were all so very tasty. The Italian gentleman - who I suspect is the proprietor - was very helpful as was the young lady who served the drinks and coffee. We were made to feel very welcome, as were all the other diners. The bill for the food, non-alcoholic drink, a large glass of wine and an espresso came to £23 (minus tip) Oh, and the toilets were immaculate! Thank you so much, we will call again on our next visit and would definitely recommend to family and friends. A well deserved '5' across the board. I think 'Winnie' would have approved especially as he would have been able to enjoy a cigar in the delightful rear courtyard where you may also dine alfresco.

We had a great meal here for a family reunion. There were 26 of us, which included 13 children and we had pre-ordered our meals. The meals were extremely good, they were served promptly and were hot and freshly cooked. The children's meals were good value and although attentive, the staff were not overwhelming and hanging around. The deserts were simply lovely and the owner was very accommodating. Highly recommend.

It seems odd to find an Italian restaurant called the Kings Head next to Blenheim Palace, but there it is. Food was excellent and staff was very friendly.

The food is good but the owner always seems to book a table for 30 odd people in the middle of the room which to say the least is disruptive

We stumbled on this wonderful hotel and its meals whilst looking for accommodation for the night of 10th May 2016. We noted the lunch menu on the 9th May as a two course deal and enjoyed it so much, we went back for dinner on the night of the 10th May. Magnificent meals, the food was as nice as we have had anywhere, excellent service in convivial surrounds and a great range of drinks, especially J Smiths "dark ale." Well done mine host, chef and staff. The pork dish at dinner was ace and the stuffed chicken for lunch and dinner was my joy.

A bit of a juxtaposition, I know, but the Sunday roast(s) - either beef, chicken or lamb were really quite good even though the rest of the menu skewed Italian. Four of us had the roasts while my one son loved his Veal saltimbocca and the other his steak. Those entrees plus some delicious desserts meant everyone left full and happy. Cute restaurant and nice staff made for a nice afternoon.

I ❤️ this place because they serve the wine & champagne at the optimum temperature. Lovely cosy bar rooms & comfy bar stools. A few tables outside for when the weather picks up what's not to love!

A very warm welcome to a pub that doesn't look much from the outside but is large and comfortable inside. We enjoyed an evening meal on two occasions. The service was friendly and helpful and the food arrived in a reasonable time, was nicely presented and well cooked.

Friday was the fish night which is on the 2nd Friday in the month. It was a varied menu with four starters and four main course, and a fine selection of sweets, plus tea or coffee. The menu varies each month. I would advise getting them to email the menu and book early. The restaurant was full and 75% where locals. This should tell you something about the place. This was a wonderful evening, one to well remember for the friendship, good food and great service.

Main meal of veal was absolutely smothered in thick packet pizza type mozzarella which the waiter agreed was too much and which was not fully eaten due to this. Some of the carrots had clearly been cooked and kept warm for 'some time'. General presentation of both dishes were poor and I think if asked for honestly the waitress/waiter would be embarrassed by it as I can't imagine a professional would be happy? A couple of nights away for our birthdays could have been much better especially as we had followed the recommendations given for this place from Trip Advisor!?

Sometimes a cold beer is good, and with great conversation. We only stopped in for a beer, but you would have thought were spending millions of dollars with the way we were treated. I cannot wait to go back and see them again.

We were one off visitors to Woodstock wandering round one Sunday and came across this pub - its a shame its not on the main High Street but we found it quite easily. The atmosphere was lovely, the log fire was burning, low celings and lots of stone., The place was as warm and friendly as the welcome from the staff. We had Sunday lunch anda couple of drinks and it was good value for this part of the world. Recommended

Nice place and excellent food. On the night we went there was just 2 staff in the restaurant. They pointed this out straight away so we knew the service would be slower than expected. But it was fine. The food quality made up for it and the 2 staff were great.

Awful awful place. Came in for the first time to grab a quick coffee before meeting some friends in Witney. Young man served me and was extremely rude and Impatient with me. Made me feel quite uncomfortable and rushed. Slammed my coffee down and when I ask for some extra milk on the side he let out a sigh and gave me a really angry look. Not the best service at all. I just couldn’t believe it, he was just so unnecessarily rude. While drinking my coffee a young blonde girl with baggy trousers was clearing a table next to me. I politely asked her who the young man was serving and she told me that he was called George. Maybe George was having a bad day and I take that into consideration absolutely but there’s no need whatsoever to speak and treat your customers so rudely. Very disappointed and certainly won’t be coming back!

Cannot recommend Paddy and the Cotswold Pizza Company enough. Having explored many options for the evening food at our wedding just outside Gloucester, Paddy stood out with glowing reviews on several platforms - having worked with him I see why! He was always available to answer questions over the phone and emails and even took time out of his weekend to visit the venue with us a few weeks before the wedding. The pizzas were very reasonably priced and on the night were a hit, with everyone was raving about them the following day. Thank you so much to Paddy and the team for contributing to a stress-free planning process and wonderful day!
