We had a lovely meal, chicken and mushroom pie with vegs was delicious and my husband's steak was cooked perfectly, just how he likes it. Great, friednly service from Sam, our waitress, too.

Lovely pub with good food selection and super service. Sam looked after us last night and was fabulous.

It was our third Time visiting the kings Head today and yet again it was fantastic. The staff are amazing so friendly and welcoming a credit to the owner. The food was amazing I had the lamb and chicken skewers, they were cooked to perfection, my partner had the fish finger sandwich which was more than a fish finger, freshly cooked fish. the beer was good. We travel over 40 minutes to get there and it is worth it. Would highly recommend this place, my Overall experience today was sensational. Highly recommend this place. I’ll look forward to visiting again.

Enjoyed a superb breakfast here this morning. Food was delicious and plentiful with a good selection. Staff were friendly and helpful would thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic food fantastic atmosphere service ten out ten omg seriously anyone local & looking for a decent evening treat yourself here , highly recommend was recommended myself truthfully money well spent , i did wonder how old this building was a the ceilings are low and did think if it had an old cellar, however and regardless one bank holiday Monday i will cherish

The waitress was lovely, the kitchen on the other hand was slow. Waited over an hour for steak n chips and fish n chips. The chips weren't cooked and the steak was tough I was too scared to try the fish. The waitress was nice enough to right the bill off. At a loss on how this has 4 stars when I wrote this.

Went out with 3 friends and had a fantastic evening. Wasn't rushed so was able to have a relaxing catch up. Peggy was our server and was delightful. Really helpful, chatty and polite. Food was really tasty and was able to enjoy most of the menu even though two diners were gluten intolerant. Lovely gluten free cheesecake and crumble. Will be returning soon.

Sarah & Matt K were great and really accommodating to my allergy! The service was exceptional and the food was lovely as always.

We popped here the other evening child free, for dinner. We love 5 mins away so we use to siesta be in here, but have eaten here for quite a while. I felt I had to come on here to review. Wow. We had the 3 bites for £12 these were incredible then we had the Burger and Pork Belly. Honestly the nicest thing we’ve eaten in a while. Atmosphere nice, staff great. Was a perfect date night xx

Had a fantastic meal, the new Katsu curry with sticky rice was actually fantastic. Food service was quick, the serve Peggy was very attentive.

Wonderful meal for Easter, thoroughly enjoyed it. However wife had a hair in her meal, although could have been one of hers. I’d like crispier roasties as well but probably erring on the side of caution with acrylamide. Lovely over all. Came for some food and the Monday quiz with friends, had a great time as always, great food, great staff, great pub!

Awful experience. The food took ages to arrive and when it did, it was cold. My partner’s burger had clearly just been reheated in the microwave after we sent it back—it still had her original bite mark in it. I sent my chips back too because they were stale and cold. She’s now got food poisoning the next day. Absolutely unacceptable. Won’t be coming back.

Always a lovely dinner here, have been a massive regular and will continue to be, Sarah was a great server as well, look forward to coming again!

The kids meals were not bad size, I thought the main was a bit small, we went on a busy Saturday,a few items weren't not available on the menu but explained by lovely staff, the lamb skewer was a bit chewy and a bit small, nice presentation, friendly busy staff, beautiful setting .

I’ve just left the pub and will not be going back, service was dreadful, drinks were slow and the food was cold. 10 persons squeezed round a table that should have only sat 8, 6 of the 10 complained about their food being cold or lukewarm,

We visited this pub in march for my partner's birthday, There were 5 adults and 3 children in our party. The food was nice but way too overpriced with not much of a selection. The service wasn't what I would expect when you are paying at least £20 per person. It was slow and lacked character/personality. We had to send two meals back as the chips looked awful. The fish and chips were sparse and greasy. Definitely wasn't worth the money. We had to wait ages to be served, especially when we wanted puddings. Two of the children are 3 and 7 years old and became restless. Wouldn't visit again.

My roast was too big and so I couldn't finish my sticky toffee pudding. Decent grub, good service, gave me a birthday card.

Kayleigh was amazing, great food and a great vibe

Called in for lunch with my sister while passing and looking for Great Burstead Church to do some family research. Car park was busy and sure enough the pub was near full. However we found a table by the fire which was a bonus on this cold day! Staff were very friendly and lady behind the bar was very helpful in giving directions to the church. Ordered drinks and from the set lunch menu, followed by one of the ‘small portion’ sweets. All was excellent, as was the service. We then had a coffee each, which was one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in a pub. All in all very impressed. Will definitely call again when next in the area.

The food was very nice and service was great, it was a Saturday and incredibly busy, the food was fresh and plenty of it. My issue was more that it was a bit on the expensive side which is fine the quality is great but there were loads of kids running around and getting in everyone's way, using the toilets as places to play around in and generally make loads of noise. This isn't what you expect when you are eating somewhere nicer which doesn't have a play area and isn't really designed for kids to be playing tag around your table and the staff didn't make any attempt to tell their parents of those children to do anything about it.

Very nice place! It was a bit expensive, but they have good food and you get a lot of food for the money, I've never had a bigger skewer before! Cozy atmosphere and nice personell.

Great buzzing atmosphere, wonderful roast dinner, superb dessert, really good value. All round great Sunday lunch.

Drinks left on bar to go flat. Food was cold and inedible. Table in the draft of a cold window & door. To be fair to waitresses, it was far too busy for only two waitresses. Poor, very disappointing. Reply .... yes you waved the fee ... but I came out for dinner & went home having eaten nothing, I shouldn't have to pay. I gave an honest review of my experience. If you think it's unfair, then that's your opinion, don't ask for a review in future. I was honest & I think people want an accurate review. I'm not changing it because you think it was OK because I didn't have to pay. You're lucky to get two stars.

Waited 20 minutes to order, 20 minutes for food. My “Beef Bourguignon” wasn’t. The chef is obviously ignorant as to what is Beef Bourguignon. What was served was short rib that was the driest piece of meat I ever ate. Three other tables were complaining or sent food or drink back. But, for ambience, we had three crying babies to add to the absolute crap experience.

Food was absolutely lovely, we had a really nice time here on Sun 2nd June. Trio of Pork belly, Turkey &Beef. Dessert duo of toffee/butterscotch. Eton mess. Lovely place we sat outside on the decking area, in the sunshine. Keith was excellent... Thank you.

We had a really lovely time here one brunch. It wasn't too busy mid morning, though it filled up more for lunch. It was a great balance of enough attention from the waitresses, whilst being left on our own enough to talk freely. Thanks ladies.

Currently sat in the restaurant half the table with food, half the table without food. Not the first time this has happened. Table was booked at 16:30. It is now 17:35 and still waiting. Not what we expected when we come here for a birthday meal!

My wife and I regularly eat at this pub. The food never fails to please and the service is always excellent, especially as Sam has been our server on the last four occasions. They also have an excellent loyalty card scheme which they supplement with additional offers.

Usually the food at the King’s Head is very nice but tonight it was absolutely dreadful. Waited 40 minutes to be served pork belly which couldn’t even be cut never mind chewed. Changed for a pie with a crust so hard again my knife wouldn’t cut it. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Amazing Christmas lunch and George Michael tribute night on 27th December. Gorgeous food, friendly service and brilliant atmosphere. Definitely coming back next Christmas.

Christmas Day dinner: had to pre pay, pre book a time slot and send food choices beforehand which is expected. Pub decorated really nicely and a pleasant welcome. Unfortunately the service was awful, they were running about an hour behind (we were told it was because one waitress went home sick). I treated elderly relatives as I wanted it to be special, it was not. My elderly mother had to stand up for over half an hour due to no chairs being available then we waited the rest of the time with mum on a chair. Where we waited was packed and I felt like we were on top of other diners tables. When seated there were no crackers on our table, the service was extremely slow, the soup was luke warm and the vegetables hard. Long wait between starters and main. The manageress was apologetic and worked hard and we were given free drinks, this is appreciated but we paid a lot of money for a Christmas Day treat that I’m sorry to say was awful. It’s not just the money it’s the fact Christmas dinner was extremely disappointing, not a good day to get things so wrong.

The worst Xmas dinner I have ever had,booked 12.30 sitting starters came out ok then had to wait over an hour for mains which was turkey ,roast potato’s were chewy and taste like they had been dipped in a salt pot,broccoli was so hard we couldn’t eat it and one of us had none on our plate,cauliflower cheese was also too hard to eat,cabbage hadn’t even been cooked at all,pigs in blankets had not been cooked long enough the bacon was quite raw and there wasn’t enough gravey even though we asked for extra,complained to the owner who was very defensive and patronizing and she spoke over me and wasn’t really sorry she just said that the service we had was bad because a member of staff had walked out and she told me nobody else had complained but we heard others complaining,thanks for ruining my Christmas unfortunately we won’t be returning to your pub I think your New Year’s resolution should be to drop your attitude

We came this year, (still here right now!) and had to write a review because Leanne and the team were wonderful, considering with it being so so busy- food came out very quickly and was outstanding as usual! Soup luke warm and vegetables hard, desserts very nice. Told reason for slow service is because one waitress went home sick. Manageress very apologetic (she was working non stop). Christmas dinner is expensive but happy to pay it as a treat on a special day however it was disappointing and won’t be going back.

Lovely night out with family for my mums birthday. Been here a couple of times but this is the first time we’ve had a live singer. Food was great quality, the singer was good and our host Sam was lovely! Excellent service and will definitely be coming back

I normally really enjoy the food here. However last night, I was so disappointed. I didn’t enjoy my meal at all. The lamb skewers were overcooked and I couldn’t eat it. I appreciate they were very busy, but my dinner should never of been served like that. I didn’t have the heart to complain at the time, because the waitress was so nice. Not sure I’d go back there now.

Pretty disappointing Christmas meal tbh. Prawn and smoked salmon starter arrived with a forest of lettuce but no salmon. Cocktail sauce tasteless. Stingey amount of turkey on the main, carrots and parsnips appeared and tasted like they'd been cooked the day before and reheated.

Served by Joy today - great service and great food. Thank you very much. We will definitely return :)
