This is a great find! The pub is a community buy out and is manned by volunteers and committee members, if your in this area drop in and support a great cause. Highly recommended.

I understand that the Kings Arms is working hard to re-open properly and are doing lots of renovation work. Check social media for opening times for drinks at the moment, food to follow when properly reopened.I always enjoy the food here, it's a great wee place.Hopefully in the future they will consider reopening rooms to stay in too.A real community owned effort ,I wish them the best

Visited here whilst on a road trip around Scotland, went in for a drink around 4pm, the two ladies serving at the time were very welcoming and friendly. We decided to book a table for our evening meal, we are 2 couples and 3 dogs, we booked for 5.30 pm, we ended just staying til the table was ready, as the atmosphere was so lovely. We were given a table which we asked for, due to having 3 dogs, the food was truly amazing, I had the panko crumb haddock, my wife had Mac and cheese and both my sister and brother in law had steak pie, all of the food was served lovely, fresh and hot. Our food was served by a lovely smiley young lady called Kelsey, nothing was too much trouble for her, Mo behind the bar was a real gentleman and truly professional, he was fantastic teaching Kelsey how to do various things. All of us never stopped saying how good the food was and how we enjoyed the evening. Can’t recommend this place enough, it’s a real success story as it is community run and really run well.

Several people had recommend the Kings Arms at Ballantrae when we mentioned we were going to travel the coast road from Glasgow to Port William and I am glad they did. Situated on the" main" road its a community run pub with a really nice atmosphere and we were made most welcome. Good food and guest beers. Its a lovely part of the world and we are keen to go back and explore more and will defiantly be looking to revisit this pub while we are there

It would be easy to drive straight past The Kings Arms, look at the flaking paint on the outside walls and make a judgement about the inside. If you do, you will be missing out on a hidden gem! Walk through the door and you will understand immediately why the community bought their village pub and are slowly, thoughtfully, and lovingly returning The Kings Arms to it’s rightful place - a hub for the whole community. From church coffee mornings and family fun days, to great (real) pub food and the only pub in the area selling Real Ale! I first visited The Kings Arms when my family moved to Ballantrae. Since then I have returned on multiple occasions and each time I see a change for the better. As my family did not have high speed internet, and I was maintaining a USA work-schedule, I got to see the Kings Arms at its busiest and quietest. The tap room was busy and the bar lounge had a mix of locals, tourists, and travelers passing through. The spacious restaurant still has s cosy feel with a wood burning stove and new decor. There’s a games room (center of a local darts league) and the community are working to restore rooms in the future. Stacey and the rest of the bar staff are as friendly and efficient as you will meet anywhere. Whether I was dropping in mid-day to use the internet and grabbing a cappuccino (or 3!) Or having an evening Zoom meeting from a quiet corner with a glass of chilled Pino Grigio. Natalie is in charge of the kitchen and produced a range of pub staples and specials with lots of variety and great consistency. My husband described his Fish & Chips as « the best I have ever eaten ». I was there during the family fun day when Kids Eat for Free and watched Natalie and her team send dish after dish out to a hungry crowd. Not only that, but keeping the bar, the tap room, and takeaway orders fulfilled too! I love the fact that they are providing hospitality employment and training to kids from the village under Stacey’s and Natalie’s (very) watchful eyes. If you are driving through Ballantrae don’t drive past The Kings Arms. If you do, you’ll never know what you are missing!

Went here for breakfast, before getting the train. After checking out previous reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Good food, freshly cooked to order. Staff are also willing to swap if you don't like certain items. Only thing I didn't like was, the toast comes buttered. Friendly staff & decent price. Will definitely visit again.

This is a real hidden gem. Set off the beaten track it takes a bit more effort that some of the more bouge cafes in Troon, but if you're looking for honest food and a fair price in a cafe you can get a seat in....its well worth the extra 3 min walk.

Went here with some friends after working up an appetite swimming. Food was absolutely stellar and all staff gave an excellent service with a smile. Great range of food and very accommodating to dietary needs, it can be a struggle to find somewhere with as many options for dairy/gluten free diets. 10/10 will definitely be back regularly.

Not a tea room. Just a basic cafe. Coffee was awful. Tea served in a mug. Cakes under glass domes looked like they'd been there for a week. Shabby decor. Service mediocre
