As restrictions were still in placed when we stayed in a Hawkshead lodge, we were only able to either eat outside the pub or tqke-away; we opted for take-away. Meals ordered were Belly Port with mash, jus, veg.......excellent meal. Pesto pasta with peppers, garlic bread....................again excellent. Lovely young lady served us, very pleasant. Another evening when it was drizzling we sat outside for drinks, only a few tables occupied, the tables were cleared by a chap who we think was the manager...............not a word was said, no greeting, no pleasantries. Could do better.

Tal vez ?

Table service only but it's not. The old woman will repeatedly walk past you as you try and get her attention and try and ask for anything. For over 10 minutes we sat there so thought we'd see how it would take to order. It was 17 minutes before another younger staff member asked for our order. Not the best way to do table service.

We ate here last week one evening and had a couple of beers in outside at other points during the week. We both had the steak pie which was nice as it was real short crust. Chocolate brownies afterwards were fairly off the shelf. Good social distancing of tables, except the one right under the bar which thankfully we didn't have. Would have expected serving staff to be wearing masks?

We had a fantastic stay at this warm, friendly and delightful place. A couple of days away did us the power of good. We were treated so well - the staff were an absolute delight - couldn't do enough for you. A credit to the owners. The room was small but cosy and quaint - loved it. The bed was very comfortable - we slept very well. The food was excellent. The breakfasts were varied and very tasty. Large portions of scrambled eggs which I couldn't eat but were lovely. We dined here too and the food was wonderful. Full of flavour and well presented. Definitely recommend The Kings Arms in Hawkshead for staying and dining. Can;t say enough about this place - a little gem in a beautiful little village.

We had one meal here during our stay in Hawkshead. We were looking forward to returning here having enjoyed meals here in previous years. Food was ok but sadly not as good as we have had before, meat in steak pie was rather tough. We ate in the bar as restaurant was full but seating in bar is rather cramped and not conducive to enjoying a meal. Will we try again next time we visit, I am not sure!

Arrived in Hawkshead after a long drive from Scotland we were recommended the kings arms by a local who said it was music night so we headed off to the pub to be greeted by ignorant no eye contact bar staff who seemed to be just doing their job now I work in hospitality and if my staff had that attitude I would be appalled . Another couple sitting near us had ordered food and were told to goto the bar for their drinks even though their food had been served and was going cold again a hospitality faux pas. Now I understand it’s busy seasons and you have been on a long shift but a smile and eye contact costs nothing , we therefore went to queens arms and received a lovely welcome .You have a well established gem of a pub it seems a shame some staff let it down

This is a nice English traditional pub with seating outside and inside. Service was okay but not great. The menu was a bit limited - the only starter that really appealed to us was the squid ... which was sold out. Instead we had a bread basket with olives, hummus etc which was lovely. For mains we had been recommended the steak and ale pie which was very good, especially as not covered in crust on all sides. Also, had a sirloin teak which was very tasted but not served medium as ordered. I guess that's where you have to order medium rare to actually get it medium.

There is little choice in the village for an evening meal but we were pleased with the Kings Arms. The staff were attentive, the menu was good (typical pub grub) and served fairly quickly. We had evening meals here on two nights last week. The venison burger, pheasant, and gammon steak dishes are recommended. I would advise pre-booking here for evening meals because it is very popular and people get turned away if they haven't done so. The meals are mid-range prices. The drinks prices are typical of the area and not overly expensive. The main room in this pub is quite small but there are tables outside for when the weather is fine. The beer was fine. We popped in for lunch and ate in the restaurant side. The bar was full as was outside on what was a beautiful day. The restaurant is small and extremely noisy with banging of door and music that was so loud that you could not hear yourself talk (why do these places have such loud music in such small rooms at lunchtime!). That said there was a lovely menu and specials board and each meal ordered was well presented and delicious and at a relatively good price. Desserts were very expensive though.

We ate here on Sunday 18th September 2016 at around 5pm after dropping into Cartmel for a look around. The village itself is lovely and this pub is facing onto the main square, next door to another that I believe is run by the same owners. The menu is a good choice of british dishes, such as roast dinners (beef or lamb), ham shank, etc. We ordered a beef roast and the beef-and-Hawkshead-ale pie. Both were around £13. The roast was delicious. There was plenty of meat, a good selection of vegetables and plenty of meaty gravy. The pie was just as good. Very tasty pie filling which seemed never-ending and was full of meat and gravy. It came with whole roasted new potatoes and some al dente vegetables which I particularly enjoyed. The drinks and food were all well priced. My only small criticisms are that they appeared understaffed. When we first arrived we were the only people at the bar, but had to wait around 5 minutes to be served and almost walked out. The menus were also in a cheap plastic binder and pages were grubby. This is a shame as it doesn't live up to the standard of food served and could be solved very easily.Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this place and will be returning when I am next in Cartmel.

Called for dinner and enjoyed it greatly. Although we had booked a table in the restaurant section we elected to eat outside such was the weather.Mrs D & I shared 4 starters, mostly of the seafood variety & enjoyed them immensely. Other choices went down well, as did the draught beer & vino blanco. Not cheap but you're not getting typical pub food.

We had a quick stop in Hawkeshead and found this little gem in the back square in Hawkeshead... Stopped for a pint whilst some of the family headed off to Beatrix Potters house about 2-miles away.Had some local beer, unfortunately they stop serving food at 2:30 so we had to move on to get a bite to eat

Ate here on Monday and we were served a mixed bag, food was good in parts but the mussels I had as a starter and my wife had as a main were poor, small tasteless and put in a cream sauce that lacked flavour. The pies were OK and the crab cakes got a thumbs up but I wouldn't rush back.

What a great pub and atmosphere. Super food and like everywhere we went, really friendly locals and staff. Ade Payne was playing guitar and singing, really good. The beer choice is quite varied but I stayed on the Loweswater Gold. Probably a good job as the one who must be obeyed said I over-indulged, fair comment as I felt a tad jaded the following day but, like a true holidaymaker I went back the next night and had some more. The barman was really great and even remembered my name on the second visit.

Booked a table in restaurant days before our arrival in Hawkshead, good job we did, it was a bank holiday weekend and very busy. Good food, prices not too bad, more reasonable than the Queens Head.Book restaurant if you prefer not to have dogs all around you when you are eating, the bar was full of them.......we have always had dogs and just love them, but do not want dogs noses and tails swishing the edge of the table when you are eating!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went here for drinks in the afternoon and then for a meal later. Food, beer and wine were all great. Would recommend to anyone staying in the Hawkshead area.

Barmaid wanted £36. I said, "£36 for two puddings and a pint and a half?" She immediately reconsidered. "It's £29.50.". She printed me a receipt and said, "You asked for extra custard. Life isn't free, sir." I had indeed asked for extra custard, for which I had only been charged a pound. But obviously, people who query bar bills in the Lakes are regarded as the lowest form of scroungers.

Tempted by window display. No prices displayed, shocked at prices. Asked if I wanted vegan sausage roll warmed. Outside was warm, middle stone cold. Stodgy, salty filling. Would have preferred a Greggs. Over priced and disappointing 😞
