The King Bill is somewhere I have started going for a little break from the world most Wednesday nights we pop up for a few drinks to break up the working week. The company is great and it’s proper Pub with nice people. The Salt & pepper Chicken needs is own review and honestly it was “Well Fit”. It’s hard to sum up in works but it’s just a very good pub , run by lovely people, giving back to the community with great staff and food. Highly Recommended

My wife and 2 children ate here today, we're on holiday in the area and had booked in advance as we weren't sure how busy it would be, although it didn't seem to be necessary. The day before they messages to say the kitchen would be open slightly later due to unforeseen circumstances, and asked if it was it OK to adjust our booking? This was fine with us and appreciated rather than turning up on the day to find out. There were only 2 parking spaces as like many pubs they've clearly had to make use of the car park space due to COVID, so if possible better to walk here. Staff were all very friendly and on request also provided a high chair for our 8 month old. Food was nice, not gastropub (and I don't think they are trying to be), but classic home made pub grub at very reasonable prices. We were slightly disappointed that there was no Sunday lunch menu on offer, but can understand under current circumstances the need to offer a more limited menu.

came here as part of our regular pub crawl and outing after being in the clarence and donkeystone there was a variety of tapas on offer 3 for 10 pounds, nine of had decided to choose a tapas each and I also had a nice steak burger with chips. the tapas had a choice of about 13 dishes with a good variety including ribs, chicken , I had the chilli and garlic mushrooms the burger was nice although seemed a bit small in size and this dish was about £8, the place came recommended from some of the lads who had been before and I would come here again and some other pubs including the kingfisher nearby

Myself and my family came here for tea after a long walk with the dog, this was our second visit to this pub and just like the first time we were blown away. I was starving and ordered the creamy Cajun chicken baguette and oh my god, was it amazing! The sauce was out of this world and I left my compliments for the chef! Amazing staff, great atmosphere and fantastic food, we will be coming again! 👍🏽

Although we’re local, we’d not eaten here before. The Wellington was full so we tried here at 6pm on a Friday. The menu looked really great, especially for vegetarians and some interesting choices for everyone else. The problem was the wait. 55 mins from placing our order, with no warning of this. The cheese and onion pie was fantastic, and the falafels. We ordered fries but got chips, as a side, but they were good and home cooked.

The family and myself visited The King William for a meal, we booked beforehand for 5 adults and a young child who will require a highchair. We received a very kind and smiley welcome from the staff the showed us to our table, the table was all set up for us to dine also with a night chair put up prepared. We notice that you had to order food at the bar but one of the staff members looked after us really well and provided a table service for food and drinks. The food was spectacular everyone really enjoyed it the children's meal was the perfect size of not to much as to what is expected of a child's meal. There is a lot to choose from even a veggie option! They provide so much variety from starter, mains, sides to what chips you would like with your meal. Overall it was a fantastic experience and will definitely be coming back the fun bar was phenomenal so many to choose from and if your a ale drinker like my partner you'll love the cart ale selction, local brewery option!

We quite often eat in here and normally really enjoy the food, however they have changed the Burger meat/recipe, and now it's spicy and a bit strange , and it doesn't mention it on the menu. They taste and texture is so different that my grandson wouldn't eat it after the first bite, which was a big disappointment because the " King burger" which they now don't do was amazing.

This is our little village pub in the beautiful village of greenfield in saddle worth. We visit frequently, and possibly take it for granted. After our visit this afternoon I felt I should compliment Donna on her warm hosting skills, and the amazing meal we had. So we went elsewhere and I havn't been back since, until last night. What a delightful warm welcome I received. I immediately renewed some old aqaintences and easily made new friends.I've been thinking of trying out the "new" King Bill for ages. I just wish I'd done it months ago. Title says it all. After twenty minutes the waitress informed us there was no beef for the roast beef baguette. Another 20 minutes later the replacement Cajun chicken arrived. What a shame about the time it took, as the food was absolutely delicious. My partners Caesar salad was plentiful and fresh, and my baguette crunchy and hot. There was very little demand for food, which made our wait a little difficult to understand, and the only reason it didn't get five stars.A decent selection of beers is also an attractive feature of this lovely little pub.

It's the little things about this dining experience that, when all considered together, made it disappointing. There are so many other choices for food in Saddleworth, I've no need to eat at "the King Bill" again. It took 50 minutes to get half the order, another 15 minutes to get the other half, so my friend and I had to eat separately. The main was poor, steak unevenly cooked, chips dry and hard, mustard for burgers not for steak. If I wasn't hungry from waiting so long for it's arrival, I'd have sent it back and gone elsewhere. The beer was fine.

If you want to go out and have one girl behind the bar fiddling with her hair all the time..... Or other bar staff playing with their phones..... Or if you want to be made to feel like you are not welcome and feel that because your not from round the area and not a 'regular' then you don't fit in to the clique they have created.... Go to this pub..... If you want to go out and have cold food and poorly cooked food.....burnt chips..... raw in the middle of it.... Or you want a dog running in and out of the kitchen where your food is prepared.... Go to this pub..... This has to be one of the most unfriendly, unwelcoming pubs I have ever been too.... The food is awful and the beer is awful. The staff are displeasing and would rather be all over the locals and be on their phones or chatting amongst themselves about their shenanigans (to put it lightly) at the weekend. The locals swear at the bar and have no consideration for anyone else, treating it like their living room. Called in to "sample" based on the predominantly strong reviews on hereWednesday night and it was fairly quiet - no more than ten people including us and nobody eating at the time we arrived so we asked if they were serving food. They were. Great. Ordered a burger and the lamb hotpot. Five minutes later the waitress advised "no hotpot" so second order changed to the burger. With cheese. Both with caramelised onions. FIFTY MINUTES LATER the food finally arrived. Neither burger had any caramelised onions but we didn't realise until the (very friendly) waitress had gone. Chips were OK - some were undercooked in the middle as they were thicker than others. Burger was ok. Ish. Far from great. Waitress asked if everything was OK - yes but no onions. "I'll tell chef". Two minutes later : "chef knew he'd forgotten the onions but says he'll give you double portions next time". ?!?!? 1) Who wants double portion of onions2) there won't BE a next timeClearly this is a pub that caters for its regulars and the transient custom is irrelevant Shame Girl on the bar was lovely though - the only good part of the experience

I recently called in the King William IV to meet my husband and his son after they'd been out walking. My husband and son were drinking well-kept Dobcross bitter, from the local Greenfield Brewery, which we were told is down the road, less than half a mile away. As his son had to get a train back home, he decided to have something to eat and chose the Thai Green Chicken Curry with rice. Not to be left out, we ordered a portion of onion rings and a portion of salt and pepper chips. The curry was delicious, well flavoured and with lots of sauce and pieces of chicken breast, and the rice was fluffy and fragrant. For my preference I'd have gone a bit spicier but having to cater for different tastes I guess you have to err on the milder side. The onion rings were fantastic, basically because the rings of onion were quite thin and the batter as light as tempura batter, not like the current trend of inch-wide slices of onion in a heavy beer batter, fried until as dark as mahogany. The lady who served us was kind enough to bring me some barbecue sauce to go with them, and they disappeared pretty quickly! The salt and pepper chips were nice and crispy and came with a good sprinkling of fresh coriander which perked them up. The food was excellent value for money and I look forward to trying other dishes on the regular and specials menus. There was a Christmas Day menu on the wall, advertising 'six courses for £39.99', but including the canapés and Prosecco and sorbet I counted eight! I asked about availability and was told it was more or less sold out, and given the quality of the menu I'm not surprised. I've seen far less choice and complexity for considerably more money - the diners on Christmas Day will be truly having a Merry Christmas! The pub has three main rooms, one of which has a real fire in a log burning stove, and on our visit this was lit and gave a wonderful homeliness to the place. A poster in the window tells you that it in included in the 2016 CAMRA Good Beer Guide, and with six real ales on it's hardly surprising. It's well worth a visit!

We went there early on Friday night; in our party were 5 adults and 7 children. We were really well looked after by the staff there. I had a bowl of whitebait to start and they were unbelievably cheap at just £2. I then had a special from the board which was bone in ribeye. I asked for it rare and that is how it came. You are hard pressed to find that cut of meat in high priced steak houses never mind a local pub.Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and the staff provided jugs of water for the kids, so they weren't constantly asking for fizzy drinks from the bar.The atmosphere was really relaxed and I would recommend it to anyone, as long as you don't order the last steak!

First let me say if you don't like standing in a packed pub with a lot of jeering, swearing footy fans give this pub a miss on Man United match days. Secondly if you like to get to the bar to see what beers are available to buy rather than look at the back of the heads of locals who will not move regardless of being asked if they could simply lean over so we could see the beers on offer, don't go to this pub. However once the football is over the pub empties very quickly. We eventually ordered food which was 2 portions of cheese and onion pie, chips and beans, service was prompt and over all the food was OK, very large pieces of pie unfortunately it was just average.

There were five of us, two couples and Brenda`s brother Ken who bless him suffers with very very bad eyesight, he lives in Canada. we were really celebrating Brenda and my wife Lynda`s birthdays on the 2nd and 3rd of may, so this was the grand ending, we had dinner there. Awesome the food is to die for, Real chips all home made, the beers are fabulous a credit all round to everyone. A big thankyou to everyone there if I lived nearer King Billie would be my local,If anyone is in the area or passing Call in you will not be disappointed, I/we will most certainly be back, Thankyou all

Went here for a drink and ended up eating when we saw food plates being brought out. Very impressed with the bar snacks, we had welsh rarebit soliders, which were a tasty generous portion. Can't wait to try to sausage bites and quartered fish finger butty bar snacks, described as modern, retro nibbles. I then had a roast beef dinner, which was the best I've had in a while, everything on the plate fresh and warm. Hubby had a lovely burger with the best homemade onion rings I have ever tasted. I think this will now become a regular eating place for us. Hopefully next time I will have room for a homemade dessert.

Went out to try the new catering at the King bill, and it was very good. The catering is done by a local company called The Little Deerhill Catering Co. They provide a good quality pub menu, all home made with local produce, including the deserts, which is unusual these days. The pub also has a good range of real ales and beer, with two from the local brewery Greenfield which is less than a mile away. This place is an excellent village pub, providing good food and beer at very reasonable prices, supporting the local suppliers.

Took my sister in for a birthday treat a couple of weeks ago, and the food was fab. Kids loved it too, which is always a good sign :-)

Very much a locals pub but visitors most welcome. Has big screen telly for fanatical and rowdy football viewing. Several real ales on offer and basic pub food served. Can be noisy with young kids especially during nice weather, but we only call in for a pit-stop while out walking in the scenic Saddleworth area.

Long queues at bar and app not letting you order one of the worst weatherspoon out there. Staff are nice but overwhelmed last time I come here

A very tasty meal and lovely service. I am vegan so I appreciate the choice for me. The staff were thoughtful and kind. We like going to this cafe. Well done!

The staff aren’t the friendliest and you’d think they had never heard of a smile. Apart from that, it’s ok for a quick coffee.
