The bar service is ultra ultra slow, with the staff behind the bar channeling their best sloth impression. It's full of overly butch lesbians, people with no teeth & smackheads.. sit outside and the 1st table I chose was caked in obviously old blood.. and then you are just harassed for roll-ups/cig.. absolutely shocking pub.. thought it should be a last orders pub

Have visited this pub regularly since it opened years ago, but on the last few visits the service at the bar has been very poor. The staff seem very discontented with their lot and customers can hear them complaining about other staff and working conditions. On each occasion recently the bar staff have let queues build up at the bar, leading to customer discontent. I got the impression that the staff were doing this deliberately to make a point. Whether this place needs more staff or just better ones I'm not sure! I certainly won't be rushing back there again. On the plus side, the food is good, as is table service.

Brunette behind the bar was shockingly rude. Snatched money and then pushed it into my hand. She can’t pull a pint either. Took five attempts to pull a lager

One of my favourite Wetherspoons pubs, boisterous with loads of atmosphere, but good natured with it. In addition, the girls serving behind the bar do a great job. In particular, today, I had the pleasure of being served by Lisa, who was lovely, with a friendly, courteous manner, and what came across as a real commitment to customer service. Impressed.

Disappointing first visit. Not particularly busy at 2.30. Ordered on App. After 10 mins asked staff member if drinks coming. She said it will be but didn't check. 5 mins later went up to bar and saw my Guinness half filled. Probably done 15 mins ago and forgotten about. Bar staff member did apologise.

Pub is OK some of the bar staff are in the wrong job. They let the place down.

Sadly the Upsteps are only interested in taking orders for meals as when you try to find somewhere to sit it's a disgrace as tables need clearing even after 30 mins when I asked someone to clear them

Barred for no reason said I'd been filming which is untrue. Staff very rude and would not show me alledge video footage. Left feeling embarrassed in front of others. Nice way to treat autistic people.

In the past I have had some bad experiences in this pub but today was excellent Bar staff was very nice and very fast and trying there hardest to clear the bar Which was very busy I ordered some food for me and my mum one small fish-and-chips with a pint of Guinness and regular fish-and-chips with a can of pop for £13.66 This was in the afternoon of special 2 till 5 The food was very nice and for the money it was excellent value, call in today for Traditional breakfast food was on job and a £3.14 with free ice cold water wow excellent value for money and staff on job and very fast and friendly

Not enough bar staff for a busy bank holiday.

This pub used to be a great place to have a drink and some nice food but it's sadly lost all it's atmosphere.you get people swearing fighting and its cramped you can hardly move some days

Really rude and insulting bar staff. Ignored for ages and many people got served before us (clearly bar guy's mates) and when we finally got served I said to the bar guy that people were served before us when we had been there ages before them, he then accused me of lying! (I mentioned this when finally served not before). Outraged! I'm! extremely polite but had to point this out and what would I gain from lying after the event?! I also noticed he and a bar girl were rude to quite a lot of customers. They might well be under stress and deal with many rude customers but their customer service was abysmal! And they shouldn't tar everyone the same brush. Disgusting customer service! If you like service served with absolute arrogance then this is your pub!

Great place friendly and helpful staff great atmosphere and service I have been a few times had some food it was good could put a bit of side salad 🥗 with meal would have made it better 😋 but I will be going again as had a nice time 🍻🍷🍸🍹🍔🥓🍟

Went in at 8.30pm and straight to the bar to order a round. 6 or 7 people waiting and one very young girl serving. After 10 minutes gave up and we went to the Fox & Pine (small pub, absolutely packed but with them having 4 experienced bar staff we were served straight away).

Good local, with good selection of beers. Didn't eat, but usual Spoons menu. Friendly locals

Top class staff serve a great pint of Phoenix Arizona Pale Ale- there’s even a manager’s special ale today at the knock down price of 99p! Smaller than your usual Spoons but there’s additional seating upstairs where you can find the toilets.

My husband and myself go in 3 or 4 times a week management and staff are always very helpful and friendly towards us They are very family oriented I would highly recommend the upsteps Inn

It's really gone down hillin the up steps at the bottom of lord street Oldham the coffee and breakfast is bad bacon is hard and breakfast is cold like the coffee o will not be coming back the staff need to where gloves when serving food

I visit here most days and have to say its the best around! They have brilliant staff :) great value for drinks and food - and I love the quiz night on a Tuesday! Fantastic staff and management thanks guys

Spoons is spoons simple, cheap sometimes cheerful, staff very clicky.

As I always say whenever I go any weatherspoons how can you not love £2 or £3 a pint beers much cheaper than anywhere else. Weatherspoons you are the gift that keeps on giving

2nd review 11 months later decided to try this pub again, big mistake, place is still filthy, to say the bar staff are rude is an understatement, how my food didn't end up in my lap is a miracle our server literally threw it at us, again overall terrible service , Avoid at all cost 1st review Under staffed, tables heaving with crockery of every description, absolutely filthy, small kids running around like lunatics, no parental control whatsoever, overall not a good experience wont be returning any time soon thank you very much !!!

Usual Weatherspoons experience, busy middle of the day with pensioners and people who perhaps should be at work. But found a table, ordered on the app, drinks arrived quickly, followed 10 minutes later by our food. Food was OK, not amazing but worth the money, Pepsi Max and BBQ Chicken breast for less than a tenner, can't go wrong!

Very good prices, 5 of us did a small pub crawl around Oldham. Prices varied from £22 to £13 Weatherspoon's being the cheapest

This is a great pub to chat nonsense and get to know the real characters of Oldham. It is also not bad for Café at £1.20. Good choice of food & drink at reasonable prices.

Very similar to all wetherspoons, jolly and busy, staff are nice and friendly, food is good and the service is good sometimes I find that they could do with extra staff .

When 4 of the 6 handpumps are OFF and the totally disinterested staff couldn't give a flying anything about putting any back on "cos they "weren't allowed in the cellar". And when asked "so where's the duty manager?" just look at each other, shrug, and say "dunno."

Hour wait for food. Drinks took 25 minutes. Food wasn’t up-to even wetherspoons standard. It was extremely busy but I think the problem is beyond just that. I wouldn’t return here.

Called in today for a quick drink and ice cream for the kids.. only had 2 staff on the bar with a packed pub.. didn’t receive drinks after 45 minutes so asked for a refund.. friend also asked for a refund at the bar and was screamed at by male bartender very unprofessional and appalling behavior .. after an hour waiting the manager finally refunded us and was lovely.

Well I decided to give this weatherspoons another go as every time I've been here it's been poor....so I wasn't surprised that our food order took 25 minutes to come bare in mind it is 9.45 am place was not at all to capacity, and compared to Middleton and Ashton where the staff the service and experience is so much more what you would expect staff happy to help and management like wise. But oldham is really poor avoid if you want food and friendly staff as this is none existent here. The steak shown was supposed to be well done and given the time it took from ordering to the table you think they could not mess this one up.......how wrong can someone be. Avoid this place.

Decent weatherspoons and does what it says on the tin. Good food, cheap drinks and cosy atmosphere. Also recently started a pub quiz which was very enjoyable and offered great prizes. Only thing is it's sometimes slow to get served and could do with more bar staff.

It's an ok Wetherspoons but some of the staff are bloody rude and seriously need to learn a thing or two about customer service and speaking to customers in a polite, professional manner.

Lovely breakfast before cinema visit

Ordered 2 traditional breakfasts, they had forgotten about the order! Then when I asked they came out with the breakfast that looked like it had been thrown on the plate. One of the breakfast was missing a sausage, we where told I hadn't told her in time! Not acceptable as there was no apology and never got the sausage!!

Veggie burger came , cold in the middle, the barman sorted it. Cheap food and drinks, you get what you pay for. Friendly staff and when the food came back, it was nice.

First of all it was 10 am in the morning four women drinking with a young baby in a high chair screening non of them with food secondly My breakfast was stone cold and replaced with a warm one that I left. Oldham is the worst one I have ever been in for cleanliness The focus is more on the drunks than the people wanting a breakfast. We spend a lot of time at the elk in Poulton witch is a world apart from upsteps in Oldham sorry but very disappointing to your brand 😔

Bacon obviously comes in precooked however they had not even bothered to cook it off on the grill for more than 10 seconds, the eggs had a texture of my nans shoe, the hash browns make excellent Frisbees waited border line half hour for 2 breakfasts for it to come in the state it does, bar staff front of house amazing just ashame kitchen let them down. The atmosphere of the pub well to put it simple it's certainly something different it's like a different planet full of oldham characters

Waited nearly 45 minutes for two breakfasts and the waitress who brought the drinks was very rude, would it kill them to crack a smile instead of being miserable

It's good value for money , food isn't the best

It used to be a great pub the manager and staff were lovely. God knows what happened but its just dreadfull now. The manager is just awful and the staff very rude and not at all helpfull I was in a few weeks ago this rude girl came and ordered me to turn my telephone down I was sat in the back she said their had been a complaint about the noise of my phone from somebody sat in the front I had to ask her 3 times what she was saying because the table behind had 6 women screaming and shouting. I said how can anybody here a phone over this noise your stood next to me I couldn't hear you. She said I told you turn your phone down if you dont turn it down I will report you to the manager. I said it has no volume my volume is switched off I put it to her ear. She looked at my friend said it's his she then very nasty shouted to him turn your fin phone down people at the front are complaining. Hear her he came out of the booth stood next to her asked her to repeat what she had said she did with the cuss word included. He said don't swear at me no one can hear anything with them 6 women my volume is off she tutted walked off. She reported my friend for arguing the manager said he was barred he didn't argue he told her his volume was off and about the noise of the 6 women. Lots of people have stopped going in now because of the manager and staff. If you complain about the staff you get barred I know 4 people this has happened to.

Have been in Up Steps many, many times over the last few years. Always enjoyed the atmosphere and a good drink , however we called in on Sunday 11 June and for the second time in 2 months there was no draught beer due to only 1 cooler working. The staff were too busy to serve as they were talking and sucking ice lollies.No wonder people were walking in and straight back out. This is the worst I have ever known for the Up Steps. If it is like this next time I visit, I won't be calling again.

It's Ok, it's a Wetherspoons.... But the food of late in 'Spoons generally, not just this one is very sloppy service, coldish food, cold plates. I know it's cheap, but.....

Fantastic breakfast easy on the wallet what's not to like

Absolutely awful to be honest! We've been here loads of times just for drinks and been really happy, however, this time we met family for a nice meal, and were bitterly disappointed. We all ordered food with a drink included, but two beers that we ordered had to be changed as it was off, the replacements were warm and flat tbh, and the shipyard beer was a glass full of froth that I was told would "settle"! I've drunk shipyard many times and never experienced this! After a forty minute wait for our food and empty glasses, we ordered wine, you can't go wrong with wine! And asked where our food was? It was just on its way, whew! We were starving, we'd walked from Dukinfield for a pint and a pizza 🍕. It was cold! We were so hungry that we ate a bit of it, there was no staff to voice our concerns to, as it was a family thing we sat there for quite sometime watching none of the tables being cleared, plates and glasses were building up everywhere and people were coming in and walking out because they were not happy at the state of the tables. I couldn't blame them tbh. Come on wetherspoons, employ more staff and get back to the fun place that you used to be.

Been here many times for drinks and all was good, today we joined friends for for food (oops) we ordered food and drinks, our first choice drink leffe blond was not good so we changed to alternative which was warm and flat, after 40 minutes of waiting for food we asked if there was an issue, we was told there was a staff issue in kitchen, fair enough so we waited, when food eventually arrived wife's pizza was cold and other 3 plates were just warm, tables were left unclean full of plates, no staff clearing tables, people were coming in and walking straight back out because of the mess, we will maybe have a drink there but never food, we would have complained but the staff was so thin we didn't have time,

Pop in for breakfast now and again and say hello to a few friends ( who I'm sure live there ) 😉 only joking lads. Went for breakfast very nice as usual 😋

Ordered food, waited half an HR only for the burger to be rock hard and black, complained and they sent another out which I'm sure was the same burger as it was rock hard, black and cold 🤢 not nice at all gave up and left, waste of money
