The Key - Health Cafe in Aberdeenshire

I go to the Key every morning, and the front house staff have always brilliant always greeting you with a smile, owners should be extremely proud of their staff especially Sophie who has been in nearly every day for weeks now. Being a Coffee Snob, the coffee is some of the best I have tasted. The only downside lately is the lack of a Chef as I used to enjoy a breakfast roll to take out with my coffee. I really for the young girls who have to tell customers most days recently there is no food due to no Chef working. I am one of many regulars who don't want to lose the best coffee shop in the area. The owners used to come in a few days a week but the last few months there has been no sign of them which is extremely unfair to the girls as they are being left to face some unhappy customers. It would be nice to visit and help the girls.

You have customers who regular visit the key , the key is shut today no notice on the door nothing.staff get sick we understand that but this is now a regular occurrence

I went in for lunch with a friend after being there previously. I had the Cajun chicken pasta and Oreo bomb protein pancakes, they were FANTASTIC! the service was great, the staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help. We will be returning again in the very near future!

Food was inedible, ridiculously covered in pepper and took 25 minutes for 2 wraps. Staff (2 young girls) were rude, couldn't get the orders right 4 times, slammed things down on the tables, forgot my friends latte then rolled her eyes when reminded. 2 tables next to us also complained about the attitude of the waitresses. Dirty floors, toilets too.

Just nipped in for a quick lunch with my daughter. Took almost an hour from ordering for our food to come (2 soups and a sandwich) and only after having to go to the counter and ask since it had been forgotten. We were offered a drink however my daughter had already had a smoothie and I hadn’t wanted a drink in the first place. So, a complimentary tap water it was ! Good job though as the soup was inedible as it was so salty and the bread rock hard. Very expensive lunch for a smoothie and half a cheese and ham sandwich !

We thought we would give this cafe another chance after receiving very poor service previously. However, we waited more than half an hour for a sandwich which eventually arrived with virtually no meat in it. Although the staff were polite and apologetic it’s certainly not improved since our last visit and we won’t be going back.

Service very slow. Other customers got served before us. Waited 45 minutes and still no food. Staff don't seem bothered. My wife had a sandwich with soft veg crisps and sandwich average. Had the breakfast which was average. How on earth it took so long is beyond me. Two shrivelled mushrooms which were horrible. Two sausages cooked. Poached egg was like it came off the floor and the yolk evaporated. People on table next to us had sausage on rolls. Basically couple of sausages put on a dry bun. No napkins provided. Cook (not a chef)seemed not bothered. If the owner reads this as well as the other negative comments then you need to up your game otherwise customers will stay away and you will see your business fail. Which would be disappointing as once it was good. Would take the cook aside and bollock him or replace him. Will not be back

This place used to be the ‘go to’ place for a coffee and something to eat, the atmosphere was great, the food and coffee was also fantastic. However it’s gone way downhill, the food is awful, the service is even worse, the staff are just so bloody woeful and don’t have a clue. As for the food it’s mostly all bought in stuff now and the presentation is just awful. Avoid this place at all costs.

Just had a light lunch there with my wife, the food was good and the server extremely friendly and efficient, will definitely go back sometime.

I used to love to come to the key as I knew you were getting an all rounder of a place and before it would definitely be 5 starts all round. Right now I would definitely consider going else where as the past few times I have been in with people that I have recommended the place to it has been so underwhelming. The atmosphere is no longer the same, the attention to details has dropped in all areas, the servers has definitely dropped since it has changed. The attention to the customers no matter how busy was spot on but now feels like they can't be bothered. The lack of being able to bulk food is definitely a miss as that was a fantastic thing, the removal of protein shakes is also a let down What once was a great place I now find hard to recommend which is definitely frustrating. Incredibly disappointing. The staff broadcast that they can't be bothered being there, the already limited menu was missing several basic items and what we did manage to order came to our table (eventually) with no seasoning or flavour at all. Does anyone involved in the running of this cafe enjoy food or the act of eating? We're genuinely sorry to have wasted time and calories on this meal. Would have been one star but the macro information on the menu is a small plus.

This is the second time I,ve been to this cafe and I am coeliac with a milk allergy both times I have been I’ll within 15 mins of leaving the premises. I was assured no milk or gluten was present in my meal and when I went home to check the ingredients online, found the staff were I’ll informed. If you have any allergies avoid at all costs.

Went here after hearing good things, have to say I wasn’t that impressed. Went in and sat down after 5 mins out menus were just dumped on the table. For me the font on the menu was barely legible. After deciding what we would like we decided to ask for it to take away as it was really hot in there. 2 chicken Mayo sandwiches took 15 mins to make. When it came it was just a here’s food and the bag put on the table, it was like I was just an inconvenience. The food came in boxes , one had a half a lettuce dumped on it the other had “ a portion of chips “ that cost extra £2.50 and weren’t cooked. For somewhere that’s healthy , it was covered in Mayo and honestly tasted like bought in pre-made stuff from Costco. I really wouldn’t recommend here to any one at all, To top it off the staff didn’t seem interested at all in what was going on.

Friendly, locally owned coffee shop serving hot dishes, soups and teas/coffees and baking. Pleasant atmosphere. Clean toilet facilities.

Quick, tasty and healthy in a convenient place. Perfect for a working lunch or quick coffee date. Will be back
