ROUGH?! This place makes a badger’s arse look like a high quality shaving brush! Located in a backwards, backwater hamlet. This 18th century poaching inn caters for the serfs and peasants that make up the rag-tag community. The “modern” couple that run the establishment, Andrew and Darling(?) clearly try their best but seem to be working with 18th century material. On the occasion we didn’t “stick to the road”, I recall a noisy, Neanderthal character named Bummy(?), a well known local poacher and vagabond regaling us with tales of beaver shunting or some other such nefarious activity. All in all. Best avoided unless you enjoy excellent beer, bar food and good company!🤓⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jolly Sailor is a real country friendly pub, living there or driving through you will always be made to feel welcome. The baguettes are amazing or even the pizza, freshly made to order, such a great atmosphere makes you want to stay for just one more!

Lovely country pub. Has had a number of owners since the couple who ran it for decades. They sold up 15-20 years ago. Lively customers, mostly from the village, Hemington and has bucked the trend for closed rural pubs, although I think it has struggled in the past number of years. Passable range of real ales, good quality, reasonable prices.

Lovely village pub, very welcoming and warm with a good atmosphere. Great selection of beers on tap from lagers and ciders to real ales. Some of the ales are from local wines independent breweries which made for excellent variety. Well worth a visit

A well kept pub with a great outdoor space that’s set in a beautiful typical English village. The beer is always good whenever we’ve been here with a great selection that seems to change weekly. There’s always pork pie available and freshly made pizza every day apart from Monday. The staff are always friendly, and they allow well behaved dogs in too.

Best pub in the area, bar non. The two lads that have this pub are doing an impeccable job. I love coming here. Ace ales and the pizza is lovely, as well as the other bar snacks. Fantastic beer garden, also. Plus there’s regular live music. Me favourite pub! Keep doing what you’re doing. Superb lads.

Just called there on Sunday whilst having a walk with the grandkids. They had pop and crisps, husband had orange juice and they very kindly made me a welcome cup of tea. There was a group who played guitar and sang popular songs. They were excellent too. Lovely atmosphere. Sorry we didn't eat there but everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals.

This is a great 'small village' local with a great atmosphere. Cosy indoors and friendly. I just pass through but there is free entertainment as the half dozen barflies joke about the day's events in Hemington and the wider world. If you like the Woolpack in Emmerdale you'll like this.

Ended up here after a journey from Newcastle to east midland airport. They weren’t open yet but we were offered a seat outside and two cans of coke free of charge. The owner chatted to us and helped us pass the time whilst waiting for our flight, it was extremely kind and was a lovely place- highly recommend!

No food while they go through some changes in ownership/management but a nice enough place for a drink, especially outside in good weather. It's obviously very popular with the locals so the main bar gets a bit raucous, and the side bar is a bit like someone's overlit front room but it's fine. For someone used to London prices, the drinks are a real bargain!

The 4 of us arrived for our dinner reservation on a Friday night at 7pm; the bar and restaurant were packed! A great vibe upon arrival and we were warmly welcomed by barman/owner who took our drinks order promptly but waited with patience whilst I perused the wine menu. Although we waited quite a while to be given menus once seated this is easily forgiven considering how busy they were. The menu, although small, has choices to suit all and included very innovative and inviting descriptions. We each had a different starter and main course and we were not disappointed with any! Portions were suitably sized and presented to a Michelin star standard. The food was fresh and flavourful with the Haddock dish was particularly impressive both in appearance and flavour. The bar and restaurant appeared to be empty by 9pm and we were almost the last to leave; we were rather surprised considering it was a Friday night but thoroughly enjoyed our experience and George was attentive throughout our meal. We will definitely be returning!

Just back from eating at the Jolly Sailor and the food was absolutely delicious. This pub is now serving food again with a new chef and menu and the result is great.Friday night and the fish and chips were delicious as was the pulled pork with toffee apple sauce. Other nights have their own speciality for example............Monday night is pie night. We will most definitely be back.

Brilliant little roadside cafe in a layby on the A6 just south of Kegworth. My son and I called in for brunch en route to South Wales and were met with a really friendly welcome. We ate in (and its bigger inside than it looks) and breakfast was excellent - the filled torpedo rolls are enormous. Would definitely use again if ever nearby.
