Dog friendly pub with Erdinger zero. What's not to love

MORE AT Google

So, we had our dog in a "Dog Friendly" pub called Jeggy Nettle in Stranmillis. One that our dog (Kobe) has been in numerous times with no issues. Today, as usual, he caused no issues, in fact, attracted a lot of attention for good reasons, even children were happy playing with him. After 2/3 hours of 5 of us giving Jeggy Nettle good custom, we took Kobe out to go to the toilet. However, on the way back in, there was a door man present (no licence on display) who had denied us entry back into the bar stating "that dog needs a muzzle" "that's a fighting dog and will scare our customers". Baring in mind we were already in there prior to his arrival and had nothing but compliments about Kobe. I would also like to point out that the staff within the bar had even agreed with us and said about how lovely he is as a dog and has caused no issues (quite the opposite) in the last couple of hours. This is an absolute disgrace and is part of the reason that innocent dogs are being put down on a daily basis. Can everyone please share to get this horrible man's face out in public. P.s Kobe IS NOT an XL Bully and we have certificates to verify this.

I used to enjoy this pub but I don't understand how you can willingly price gouge to such an extreme extent this far from the city centre.

Veery poor.. used to call my “favourite bar” in Belfast. Was a regular and happy to pay the outrageous price for a pint outside Belfast city centre. No longer.

I was here when their pizzas were delivered (oven pizzas In a box bunged in oven and sold for a tenner). Luckily they do allow food to be taken in from proper takeaways. It's also very cold in the pub (patrons sitting in coats and jackets is a common sight) and expensive for an outer city venue. Lot of potential going to waste with this pub One to avoid

Great atmosphere and a decent selection of your drinks. The pub has a cozy and welcoming vibe, with seating areas tucked into corners that gives privacy to its patrons. It can get quite crowded however, especially on weekends, so finding a good spot becomes challenging. A plus side is the live music which really aided to the feel. The biggest downside, however, was the pricing - the drinks and food felt noticeably overpriced for what you’re getting.

I bought a much yearned for pint of Guinness Zero on Thursday 5th September 2024 @10 -30 pm . It was served warm . I told the bar man it was warm he said he had taken the can from the fridge and it had been stacked there that morning another barman then intervened and said the fridge was useless and doesnt work properly and doesn’t chill the contents of the fridge . He offered me another can which felt the same as the initial one - I refused . They suggested I stick the pint glass with the warm Guinesss in an ice bucket whilst I drank it. I did this . It didn’t work for 3/4 of the pint and it only felt cold for the last few drinks I took from the bottom of the pint glass . Totally unsatisfactory experience and at £5-40 a complete waste of money and annoying that no recompense was offered . I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Updated review. Service is now appalling. Potential to be the best pub in Belfast. Allows you to bring your own food. Very relaxed. Good range of drinks. Generally good, but was in on a Saturday afternoon and staff had abandoned the bar. Waited for 15 minutes, no sign of anyone, we left. Now sitting in another bar spending our money there. If you're open, be open to serve. At least, communicate to potential customers i.e. leave a note informing them what is happening eg if you're away to the toilet or something. Back again, staff seem poorly trained and seems like no one is managing the place. Going downhill.

Well made cocktails, cosy seating nooks and friendly locals all year round. Ended up going 3 times in 5 days, despite being outside of city center. Located right next to Botanical gardens and good eateries which the pub allows you to bring in anytime. Thanks for a great visit guys... 👌🍻

What an absolute gem of a pub in Belfast. Just up the street from botanic gardens where we had a lovely autumnal walk with our Doggy then seen this inviting looking pub across from where we parked we thought we'd check it out. We loved it. Our dog loved it and we'll definitely be back. It's like a pub from a hundred years ago but comfortable, warm, friendly, relaxing and with an amber glow. The vibe is chilled. The patrons and dogs are well behaved and friendly. The fire was lit and stoked regularly, the drinks were cold and the background music perfectly framed the whole scene. Best dog friendly pub I've ever been in, by far!

Fantastic pub with great decor and live music. Is also a brilliant spot to catch the football as it’s very well laid out and has plenty of TVs. Guinness is top notch and bar staff are brilliant. It’s dog friendly and you’re allowed to bring in your own food - I recommend Giuseppes Pizza on Malone Rd (across from the Bot) and a pint of plain in Jeggy, you wouldn’t deny the wife’s boyfriend that combo, simply perfect. Only downside is the price point making a visit to Jeggy Nettle more of an occasional treat as opposed to a regular local but it’s earned 5 stars nonetheless.

Best pub in Belfast for taking the dog any day of the week. Have been going since it opened and can vouch it's a dependable meet-up spot, as well as somewhere to head for a catch-up on a night out, rather than venture into town and get bombarded with "acoustic". Update: so I have a mystery I need solved. The means toilets upstairs always has the right cubicle locked for years now. Doe ANYONE know why?

Would not even give this establishment 1 star if there was an option for 0 - rude staff, an incompetent manager and overpriced drinks. Our private room was double booked, the manager allowed another party to be in our pre-decorated room. Nothing was done about the situation, we had to move our own decorations downstairs to the main pub, no hospitality was provided to apologise for their mistake and staff were hugely dismissive about their error, especially the manager. The security man was mocking to members of our party about the situation and made personal comments about someone’s appearance. A truly terrible experience for an event that should have been wonderful.
