We visited the Jacobean Hotel this morning for breakfast, there were 5 of us in total and we all agreed just how good it was! The service was fantastic as was the food, it all came out together was nice and hot and cooked to perfection and was priced more than fair especially for the size of the breakfast! Will definitely return again and recommend!

Great restaurant, proper home cooking with excellent service. Breakfast also very good. The room was cosy and warm and a good size. The bathroom was also nice with a decent shower. All was very clean. Only improvement to suggest is the bed which was too soft and the mattress rather thin. The bed was also very low down. All in all excellent value for money and we would definitely stay again as it was very convenient for the NEC.

Absolute dump. We visited for the Sunday roast and the “lamb” roll was tough as boots. 70% of the meat on the plate was inedible fat. Then to add insult to injury we paid the FULL bill despite raising the sub standard meat. We spent around 20 minutes saying our goodbyes to then be hounded the following day for an outstanding amount of £4. Despite the fact the waitress counted everything up and said it was done. Is the Jacobean that desperate that it hounds customers for £4 and serves gristle instead of meat?

Was at an event today at the Jacobean hotel and the service was excellent. The food provided at lunch was lovely, great selection, and plenty of it. It was clean, and clearly the staff had make a concerted effort in the preparation. Everyone was happy and I would not hesitate in recommending to others :)

It was ok. We only wanted to stay one night. We had breakfast at a spoons pub because it was cheaper.

A beautiful hotel. Food is amazing and good value for money especially the menu two courses for £9.95 excluding drinks.

When we walked in was a strong smell of urine. I ordered a £6 pizza for my 3 year old off the kids menu. I asked the waiter before hand if it came with anything else & he said he thinks so. When it came out we were shocked it was tiny exactly like a 50p mini pizza from Aldi. I shared my chips with my daughter as she was hungry, my mum said something to this waitress if anything else comes with it & she said no just as it comes. 5/10 mins so later she offered some free chips on the house for 3 year old but by that point she already ate most of mine and we were ready to go home. My mum ordered the baked cod which wouldn’t recommend at all, but my honey chickens strips were nice ! Not great value for money these 3 meals cost £38!!

Just passing, loved the look of the place all lit up. We stopped for a pint and maybe food too. After we finally got our beer, the place was empty. After looking at a rather expensive menu we were ask make your mind up by 8pm, because the chef will be gone. We carried on driving and had a nice meal further on

This "Hotel" is dreadful! The outside area is very neglected and covered in broken glass! The exterior of the building is very tired, window frames are falling apart. The bar staff are very unhelpful. We tried to get Sunday Dinner and were told that the kitchen finishewd at 6pm however upon our return at 5.45pm we were told the kitchen had decided to deepclean and shut earlier? We were staying and had to uber food in! We have emailed th ehotel but not received any reply! Save your money and go somewhere nice

Afternoon tea disappointing. Bread was awful. Not much filling. Cakes were average. Scones like rocks. Very overpriced. Would not have that again. Staff were lovely and attentive, shame about the food.

Needs a much needed refurbishment - very overpriced for only just edible food. Won't be going back

Really impressed with the Jacobean. The rooms were clean and spacious. The dinner and breakfast was stunning - having worked in restaurants, the chef knows what he is doing. Ruth who was running the hotel when we stayed for 2 nights was amazing. She seemed to be there early morning and late at night at all times. Even repairing something by ladder outside when we arrived back one afternoon.

Oh dear what has happened to the Jackobean, recently went for Sunday lunch, menu has a lack of choice for and what was ordered was awful. Not rushing back here shame really as it never use to be like this

Well the hotel seemed unkept and unloved outside didn’t look like it had seen a gardener for months, reception service was good but everything was so run down. Room was awful stains from water leaks, blood splatter on the wall, bathroom extract didn’t work/cracked tiles to name but a few. Breakfast was over cooked, oily and some of it was stale, including the cheese that was two months out of date! That the server laughed and said I don’t normally do breakfast. I will say bedding was clean. I would have given the room and food a zero if it was possible. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

Stood waiting at the bar while being ignored by two members of staff who seemed to be preoccupied with sorting receipts out. Fortunately a young lady came and served us but it was very rude behaviour by the other two.

Bank holiday Monday.. gorgeous day and gorgeous venue…it was empty.. I actually spent my wedding night here 29 years ago when it was called the brooklands grange hotel. had Christmas vouchers to spend but bill came to over £200..must of been the biggest bill of the day. When we arrived 2pm on bank holiday Monday.,..the person behind bar knew I was there but continued to enter stock or some details into the till….the place was empty!! She didn’t greet me or welcome me at all. food was great and had a lovely time but why on a bank holiday was a place like this so empty.. when ordering food she broke off to tell a new person on the bar she was pouring incorrectly.. having worked in pubs myself I understand this .. but you apologise to the customer if you are mid stream taking an order for food…she didn’t . I had no idea how many meal orders she had taken…. And we had to go over what I had ordered so far.. my husband ordered at the bar and got full attention….other male members did too! having worked in the industry for many years myself I am gutted to see a place like this not thriving now . Customer service needs to be improved this place should be an absolute money maker .. gorgeous location good chefs….

What a nice place, staff were very pleasant and friendly. Nice quiet hotel with a very nice bar and restaurant area. Some bits of flooring were a little tired but overall it was a good experience visiting for an afternoon. Please note:I did not stay overnight neither did I visit any rooms other than the public areas.

Over priced food, doors constantly slamming, walls are thin so you can hear everything, floorboards squeak like hell so it sounds like people are stomping about and room 40 you've got part of the stairs that lead upstairs to a room actually in your room so just in case you don't get it more bloody noise, all the furniture is outdated mahogany furniture that seen the end of its life back in the 90s. I can safely say my company won't be booking a room for me here again, reception staff are nice though so that's one bonus just don't expect an early night with all the noise 👎🏻

Never stayed here but go here regularly for a few pints. They have some great local beers on tap and a nice bar and outdoor area. Great access to bus stops that can take you into the centre of Cov as well as Birmingham Airport and Birmingham city centre for only £2. Very dog friendly

Very dated, the website looks nice but when you get there the rooms are dated. With dirty carpets and ladybirds! Staff were just happy to give us a refund but not really that bothered!

This is a regular place for us to get a coffee and a snack. Unfortunately the self closing door has been broken for several months and customers just leave the door open as they enter or leave. This makes it a very cold and draughty place to sit in the colder months. We feel the cold so may start using an independant coffee shop over the road which would be sad as we like this Costa. Can somebody fix the door, it has been months?

Came as a family of 7 for mid week meal, even though it seemed busy service and food was excellent, our waitress Emma was the sweetest person and nothing was to much trouble and always had a smile on her face, a true credit to the business. We will definitely be back soon

The best night in town by far!!! We've been having after-work karaoke nights @ China Red for a few years now and we cannot fault them. Food is delicious and the staff always goes above and beyond to make sure you are having a great time. If you've never tried before, don't hesitate, loads of fun ahead.
