Wow what a gem of a place the food is absolutely spectacular portion sizes are amazing quality of food phenomenal and their chimmi churri sause is TO DIE FOR .. we came one night and spent the next 3 here. The atmosphere was immaculate they have very cool jazz vibes on a Sunday and the SundayRoasts !!! Top Notch! You will not find a nicer pub for food drinks and entertainment in all of London let alone Islington! Management and staff cant do enough for you - do NOT miss out and pop in you will not be disappointed 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Beautiful pub a stone's throw from Angel Tube. I held my birthday party here on a Sunday afternoon. I booked the 1st floor bar for drinks and food. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Excellent time had by all. Would highly recommend as a party venue.

Held a party in the upstairs rooms and bar. We had a fantastic time. The food was very good, drinks great and Patrick and his team were really wonderful, nothing was a problem. Great value for money as well

A lovely bar. Quirky and inviting. It was a Monday lunchtime, so not so busy - just what we needed. We could certainly see the potential for an evening there. Staff were welcoming, and they had a good selection of ales. We didn't eat, but we're pleased with the selection on offer.

My family and I came here for Christmas celebration. We had a beautiful 3 course meal, the food was delicious and perfectly presented. We absolutely loved the atmosphere this pub brings and how accommodating the staff were to every need. Plus to top it all of the pub is so creative with its cocktails inventing Christmas themed cocktails perfect for a festive celebration. The team even recognised we were there for a festive celebration and bought us some games we can play to extend the celebration. I cannot fault the team at The Islington Townhouse, they made our celebration, very special and one to remember 😁

The music is too bad to be playing this loudly. Plus the speakers can't handle the volume. Shame because the atmosphere would be nice otherwise

I’ve had an amazing couple of nights here with friends and most recently for a Christmas party. The atmosphere was so fun and the cocktails were spot on!

Enjoyed a wonderful set menu meal here for our work Christmas party. We were in a cosy private dining area which was perfect for us. Brendan looked after us so well all evening. The food was really tasty. Delicious Prosecco and overall really good value for money.

My dance group had our 5 year anniversary party here and the team were awesome, so welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The cocktails were excellent and the ambience is really friendly and warm. I’d fully recommend it!

Came here for my Sunday roast and was very disappointed by my experience. Food took half an hour to come. Other customers complained and only then did food orders come. When mine did, the food portion was so small it looked like a starter. No gravy was provided, we told the server and she had to give the bar staff instructions to serve us gravy confused like he was brand new. Save your time, go somewhere else.

All around a really great dining experience. One of the best roast I’ve had to date in London. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the environment was perfect for a catch up with friends and family.

Very appalling service. We were a group of 10 right in front of the bar on a quiet Saturday afternoon and the barman didn’t even offer us tap water. I had to ask after 20 mins. And no one was even at the bar keeping him busy. When I said the mulled wine wasn’t warm enough, instead of apologising and asking if I want to replace my order, he poured himself some mulled wine and said it is warm enough to him and kept arguing and contradicting. I said if you can’t to anything to improve it I’m fine just taking it. It took him 10 minutes later to finally realise and offered to add boiling water. It took us ages to order and the barman kept answering phone calls. Fries was abysmal and cold.

My niece and I stumbled on this pub by pure accident after the previous pub we' had reserved Sunday lunch let us down. What a warm welcome by the staff. Ordered the Sunday lunch shared meat platter. It was a great portion and delicious. We were even brought extra gravy! Staff came to our table to take drink orders too. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Fairly expensive drinks and food menu so didn't eat but enjoyed the vibes of the place, my partner got a double vodka lime soda and the limes could've been taken better care of, dry and flavourless fruit doesn't belong in a £12 drink, quite amusing though the actual layout of the building is almost like a maze but plenty of trip hazards so tread lightly 👍

If I could leave zero stars, I would… worst pub I’ve ever been to. Booked for a group of 18 people, paid a deposit only to get there and they “didn’t have any alcohol left”!!!! Not sure how that’s possible for a pub, but the refused to refund the deposit regardless. We stayed for 20 mins then got the hell out of there. So bizzare, as they weren’t serving alcohol the pub was dead. Avoid at all costs!

A lovely pub hugely let down by an incredibly rude American bar tender - was stressed and angry at customers the whole time even when the bar was empty.

A pleasant friendly pub with a cheerful atmosphere. A good spot to go near The Angel for a couple of drinks. A couple of cold lagers were what we boys had and for our female companions the house Pinot Grigio was just fine.

Food was nice, really nice upstairs for a party that we were attending and pints are cheap for the area

What's with enforced table service (and 12.5% charge) in an empty pub? Seems to me like profiteering from Covid. Edit - Now under new management. Much better!

Extremely pleasant pub, friendly staff and correct price. I'm just missing the tables that used to be outside, but I guess as soon as the work is finished on top of the pub, they'll be back.

So disappointed, the reviews are so good when we got there the whole pub is covered in scaffolding, we ordered starters and mains all came up together and to top it off a rat ran through the pub, asked to speak to the manager and was told to leave a review on TripAdvisor really not what I was expecting

Ordered a vegan burger, burger was delicious, fries were loaded with salt couldnt eat them. Vegan hunger and fries with a large glass of house wine = £22 Expensive and not anything that amazing. Pub is nice however Thankyou to the owner replying 3 years later lol

My friend and I have been meeting here once a week for a few years, a bit overpriced but we enjoy the ambience and enjoy ourselves. I am disappointed that they are now taking advantage of the Covid 19 situation by adding a service charge to the cost of 2 drinks which brought the cost to £17 + !!!..... it's sad but they will lose our custom at a time when every penny for them counts..... Islington Townhouse , thank you for your response...however we will probably not return again , the main reason being that we were not told that a service charge would be added, we were not given the receipt until after payment had been made, therefore were unable to make the choice to pay it or not. As said the ambience is good and we have always enjoyed our time spent in Islington Townhouse. Update I have just recieved a response to my above review ...I posted it 2 years ago and the manager has just responded......🙄🤔

Great pub that feels like you're visiting someones house as opposed to being in a pub

went specifically to get some vegan food after seeing their menu on the last visit, they our order and 15 minutes later told us the kitchen was now closed and had to refund the money. bit disappointing on that level, then too late to go elsewhere

Hi All I used to drink in another pub / bar just up the road from the Town House, but today I can tell you that I no longer go to that pub/bar for over a year now, we popped into the Town House Liverpool Road and was made very welcome by Ana and her staff, the staff were very polite and could no do enough for you, the beer and wine selection are perfect for everyone, I have made it my local with my partner and lodes of friends that come with us, I go in there everyday and spend a few hours there drinking my wine by the bottle, or my Guinness the prices are good as well, I have made friend with the staff like Ana and Dee and the guys, one thing I like apart from the food and drink is that the toilets are very clean which is a good sign of a good pub/bar. Thank you again to Ana and the gang. xxx

Islington Townhouse has been my local for a year since moving to london. I love the lay out of the pub and the staff are superb. However, after today I will not be returning. I first went to the Townhouse because the price of Guinness was cheaper than the several pubs closer to my home. Last week the guinness was £5.45 and today it was raised to £6.20. I was told it was a company decision and due to the rising price of beer. But I know full well that this price rise is because St Patrick days is a week away. An attempt to bleed money out of unsuspecting tourists to london. I refuse to spend my money as an establish such as this. I would recommend all irish ex pats to go to the Alma, a 2 minute walk away where the guinness is more reasonably priced. Ultimately I will miss the Townhousr but I am content with my decision.

It's a bit funny my mum told the staff that she was just going to the toilet and she come out of the toilet day locked her by mistake she hat to wait for 2 hours and a half for some one come and let her out

This is a lovely pub, with a fantastic ambiance. It is very popular among locals because it offers a true British pub experience.

Great service. My son and I reserved a table for food and drink and to watch the North London Derby. The table saved for us was a long way from a screen and the place was pretty rammed, so there was no chance to swap to another. The woman behind the bar was very understanding and helped us move the table to a better place. Thank you! The 2-0 result was great too!

Whatever you do don't get the chicken burger. It looked sorry for itself, breast was thin and like trying to eat a leather shoe. Measly portion of chips straight out a freezer packet.

A must-visit! Very cute pub, great festive decorations, kind staff. Booking for a big group was very simple! They have tasty menu with a big variety of options. Very beautifully decorated for the festive season! If you want to have the set menu, you need to let them know a few days in advance. Really great place to visit!

If you are asking here is a list based on our very short visit: 1) metal chairs are very cold when it's cold outside and you are saving on heating. May be add some insulation to them? I.e seat pads / char cushions. 2) Train staff better. Young lady who was serving us didn't know how to split the bill or what drinks you actually had in the fridge. 3) Don't turn off all lighting in the toilets before clients have actually left, it is very inconvenient to use em in the darkness.

I love this pub! The bar staff are all friendly and absolutely lovely. I always feel welcome when I pop in for a drink and the vibes are good and chilled.

Friendly staff and good service

Mixed experience, the staff were great, friendly and helpful 5*. The place is pleasant, however the food !!! Where do I start, 4 of us went and chose our meal from the menu and went to the bar to order, first request, "sorry that's off" so we chose something else. Second meal pizza .."sorry that's off" they had no pizza bases! so we chose Fish which was also the third choice only to be told they'd have to check, after checking we were told, sorry only one fish so we chose a burger. 4th choice bbq chicken they had. Food arrived in reasonable time, about 15 min. We had a good time chatting but when we'd finished we all agreed that the food was VERY substandard. Its a shame the pub is in a great location and the staff were lovely but the food really let's the place down and we won't be going back to eat there .

Nice pub, probably quite a good place to watch football or meet up with friends but seems a bit disorganised. The main food menu looks tasty… but didn’t have a chance to try it… Had booked lunch on a Sunday at around 12.15 via Designmynight before we had to go to an event at 2pm. Arrived and they seem shocked we had a booking but no issues as plent of tables around. Was told only brunch menu could be served. Asked why / what time they would start the full menu. They didn’t really have an answer, at one point said they could serve us lunch because we had booked, another point they said they couldn’t do full menu as they had one table doing a bottomless brunch, after asking about 3-4 times were then told the full menu wouldn’t be available until 2pm. Frustrating as didn’t say anywhere on website nor booking, although it didn’t really seem like that was the norm and they just applied it. Saw one family who had booked a table at 12, presumably for lunch, leave because only the brunch menu was being served. We decided to stay, mainly as had drinks and had some items from the brunch menu. Relatively cheap menu, with some options. Food - OK. Nothing particularly to shout home about but for the price a decent meal to fill a hole. Overall, pretty disappointing about the lack of availability of the full menu, and seemingly no idea when it would be served. They lost some custom from that or the fact it wouldn’t start till 2pm that day… but a nice pub and the 2 girls working were pretty friendly. Would probably visit again for drinks / watch the football etc.
