As a Wroughton resident this was never a go to pub. Since Covid things have changed. I've visited a couple of times recently and can only speak in the highest terms. The beer is kept in superb condition and a genuine delight. The welcome from the landlady warm, without being ott...perfect. As a villager, I have been missing out. The Horse will feature regularly in my new year excursions....Covid permitting. 👍

This is our local which we had never been to. We decided to book Sunday lunch for us, our children 8 & 10 and the hubby's parents. Walked in up to the bar, very friendly lady behind the bar, showed us our table, ordered some drinks and put on our tab, ordered our food, 5 roasts and ham, egg & chips, only waited around 10-15 minutes for the food, lovely roasts, next best thing to a homemade sunday dinner good portion size too, my daughter enjoyed her ham eggs & chips too. We all had a pudding too which was scrummy. A roast and a pudding for £8.95. Really can't go wrong, very reasonably priced, delicious food, friendly staff & nice atmosphere. Can't believe we haven't been in before, but will definitely be coming back!

Only recently discovered this pub and like the friendliness and ambience. Didn’t book but went early (12 noon) and just missed rush, as pub suddenly got really busy. We both had chicken Sunday roast - one gluten free. Fabulous added bonus that I got Yorkshire puddings with that (most places just leave those off a GF roast). Tasty food, one of the best Sunday lunches in Swindon area and reasonably priced.

I am a local in Wroughton and I regularly go to the Iron Horse. I particularly like the Sunday roast where you can have a mix of meats and they will mix and match your preference (extra spuds is mine) . There is no pretence about the roast I would best describe it as good honest home cooking priced very reasonably £7.50 for a medium plate, which is plenty for me. Places like the Iron Horse are a in short supply these days it's a pub where everyone knows everyone and the banter flies across the bar at an alarming rate. I am always made to feel welcome by the friendly and courteous staff, nothing is too much trouble.

Tourists who want to experience a typical English pub atmosphere with friendly staff and a strong local appeal, should not miss this place. Join in with darts or pool, or just listen to the banter. There are several plasma screens for music and sports. The pub food is good and very reasonably priced.

Food here is reasonable and good value. We were here as a large family group after a funeral. The staff did a fantastic job and looked after us extremely well.

Graham

I went in asking for chicken breast with the skin on. He didn’t have it in the display but went above and beyond to cut some fresh for me. The gentleman gave me some advise on keeping it on the crown and wow was he right. A beautiful cut of meat at a brilliant price. Super friendly and couldn’t help enough. I will definitely be buying my meat from there again. Highly recommend to everyone.

I had to spend a morning in Swindon and wanted a nice breakfast. This place delivered in spades. Very nice staff, and excellent breakfast. I had Colombian Eggs which I had never heard of before, it's basically scrambled eggs with chopped chorizo, and was delicious and quite filling. My wife opted for a Half-English breakfast (half the size of a Full English), and a slice of fried bread. All of the ingredients were to quality and she pronounced the fried bread to be perfectly cooked. Will definitely visit if I am ever in Swindon for a morning again.

Blues is the only traditional café with have in Swindon. Go there often. Staff always really welcoming and friendly. They have their loyal customers who always come back most days. Can't beat the service.
