Went for 45th anniversary dinner. Great service, hot food and good portions.

All the food was fresh and very tasty meats where so soft it was a lovely carvery, after hearing so many negative reviews been very reluctant to try so glad we did 😀

Recently returned to this Marstons carvery pub after its refurbishment, and wow what a change! So much better having the area split into dinning and bar. Was busy today but was seated by Vanessa who managed to find me a table despite not booking (won’t make that mistake again), ordered at the bar by Naomi and had a carvery served by Danny, very tasty and good veg choice, great potato gratin too! Went into the bar to watch the rugby afterwards, great atmosphere. Will be coming back to this gem of a pub!

Had a lovely time and food was excellent, Shame I didn’t see the merchant navy brothers. Clint being in the merchant navy hopefully means he gets a free beer, especially for shaun as he did save Clint when he went overboard. Shaun jumped in and dragged him back up to top deck.

4.75 for a pint of light ale. When you take a sip and say I don't like it doesn't taste right. Then got to buy a pedigree at another 4.75 isn't good

Lovely meal at the newly refurbished iron forge steak cooked to perfection and Megan's long island ice tea was very nice and she was so polite and bubbly. Definitely recommend staff was lovely

We visit the iron forge on a regular basis. it holds a welcoming atmosphere, staff are lovely and the renovation is beautiful. I booked a large family meal for my sons 18th birthday, a mixture of adults and children in total there was 20 of us. Service was fantastic 👏 youd expect a wait between meals arriving but food arrived prompt, we was all eating at the same time and we had clean plates all round. everyone commented on how lovely the food was and the children loved the play area and colouring facilities. staff were on hand to not only bring out my sons birthday cake when I gave them a nod but also sang happy birthday to him which made it extra special. Thanks again iron forge and staff on shift

Won't be going back, slow service expensive and staff not very friendly at all.

The food we ordered was excellent. We were and group of 20 and they managed to have everyone's food out in quick succession. I ordered the ultimate spicy burger and it was fantastic. The service staff were brilliant throughout our visit and the kitchen staff accommodated everyone's requirements.

Carvery was excellent - well done Danny and Bailey. Think it’s the best I e had there for a long time. Love the new decor - the only slight issue is the tables are too close together.

Queues were long at till apart from that everything was great

it was busy, my partners food just came as I was finishing mine. Had to wait ages to get served. Staff seemed stressed very sombre looking staff particularly the young ones. The carvery was very messy more variety of veg needed. Great refurbishment would be better when less busy so staff could be more welcoming.

Food was really good, much better than it has been in the past, although definitely some room for improvement! - The sports lounge gets completely ignored by staff, no glass collections, tables not cleared etc etc. - Promoting ordering on the app, but taking close to 30 minutes for drinks to arrive - There are no physical menus in the sports lounge. - Children allowed to mess about in the sports lounge, throwing darts at walls etc, surely they should be asked to use the family lounge and not the sports bar, make this over 18 only! - When you order food, bring cutlery etc out beforehand whilst awaiting for the meal to be cooked, don't wait for the food to be ready, deliver it and then spend 10 minutes bringing over cutlery. Overall a good experience, with a few tweaks to the service it can be even better

Very affordable and good quality , highly recommended , I am sure to visit again. The big breakfast was both tasty and filling.

I stood at the carvery for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged I was there, there was not even anyone at the bar to discuss how I actually get my food. When it came to plate up the carvery, the meat looked like it had been sat there all day super dry really gross looking even the guy serving it gave me extra turkey to apologise for the state of the meat. When I sat down to eat, it was absolutely disgusting pretty much wasted the whole plate. The veg was definitely sat there for a good couple of hours and the meat was dry. The Yorkshire pudding that looked okay actually tasted like it had been sat there since the day before. No stuff even attended our table from the entire visit to ask if the food was okay. Ordered myself some pulled pork fries on the app, as again there was not someone at the bar at the time. The chips were okay but the pulled pork resembled what I could only imagine the taste and texture of dog food is like. I was hoping that after the refurb this place would be significantly better than my last visit a year ago however it seems to have only gone further downhill will not be visiting again and recommending everyone to avoid the place. Absolute waste of £30-£40.

Went into the iron forge today 25/2/2025 in the afternoon, after hearing that the iron forge had a revamp the pub looks really nice and modern and great decor inside. Unfortunately the carvery was bland unseasoned, the stuffing was hard and crunchy! The roast potatoes are bland and tasteless, mash potatoes were ok but not brilliant, the vegetables was ok. Out of the whole meal the meat was delicious.

The Iron Forge always offers a friendly welcome and a reliably good carvery with a fine choice of meat, vegetables and potatoes. Lauren is always happy to help with a warm and welcome smile. We visit at least every fortnight and are never disappointed.

Seems really small compared to the old place. It’s really crowded and seems like when they renovated it that they did not think about it very well. Food was ok.

My mum and I came for lunch around 11.30, 31/3/24. We have been a few times and really enjoy the atmosphere, the staff are always very friendly, polite and helpful, the food is always lovely, apart from the steak today, the taste was amazing, however mine had a rather thick vein of fat running through it, which left it rather chewy, my mum's was lovely, we both said the garden peas were quite hard, apart from that, we will still come again 😀 Thank you Lauren for your service today, you were lovely 😍

Much better than it used to be.

Rubbish, used to go regularly before the refit and changes on a Sunday for a carvery, we was excited to go again this Sunday now it's re opened, the moment we walked through the doors we was disappointed........ No carvery, not a problem we will just have something from the menu I suggested went to the bar to order no mixed grills 🙄 typical I've tried to order one half a dozen times now and I've only ever managed to get one once about 3 years ago, food was "ok" the pigs in the corner celebrating someone's birthday and belching at 200 decibels no so much, tonights visit has definitely put us off returning again...

This pub has recently been refurbished and I’ve had a lovely carvery meal since refurbishment. However we popped in for lunch as we were passing, to be turned away as it was bookings only on a Sunday and they were already fully booked. Disappointing as we’ve always previously just walked in with no booking and weren’t aware Sundays were different. Can’t be helped, I suppose Sundays are always going to be more popular, but it was disappointing.

Nice new venue. but still have inadequate staff to cover lounge and bar, been a few times now and there was long periods 1 member of staff left to cover both bars. cant comment on the food as I gave up waiting to be served and fooked off

Beautifully decorated. Welcoming staff. Great food. No rush for us to leave. Definitely a marked improvement to the last time I visited. Would certainly revisit

Good place to visit. Was fairly quiet but it was Tuesday. Friendly staff. Very nice carvery all weel long.

Come for food with friends . The quality of food is terrible and the prices for that quality food are insane . Would not recommend visit .

Disappointed , we wanted a carvery, beef and ham on offer. Beef was a dried up piece left from lunch. Ham was also poor, 5 pm at night all should be ready. Had to get a refund . Chose the burger Hmmmmmm! it was ok a bit black on one side. So sorry but you haven’t won me over.

A warm welcome and attentive service. Full range menu of well cooked and presented food exceeded expectations.

Great food - we enjoyed our carvery! Pasta was enjoyed from the kids menu. Other menu had a good selection of food other than the carvery. Good service and friendly staff. My son loved playing on the small play area outside.

Food was well presented, we ordered from the QR code at the table and arrived in decent time. Staff really friendly made the experience even more better. We were sat in the bar dining area. And wasn't to noisy or uncomfortable. All in all very pleasurable, will be back again, thanks to the waiting staff.

Refurbishment looks good, we were in the family side, nice warm atmosphere, little park outside was nice and clean, will be good when the weather warms up veggie carvery was good, staff very friendly.

The manager was exceptionally nice as were all the staff.

Great Sunday carvery, veg was perfectly cooked, drinks service to the table was also super quick. Manager Alex popped over to say hi too!

A pleasant surprise, as a family we haven’t been for a while as we felt the food had taken a downward turn, however this time, with the new opening, the food, the experience, the look and feel of the iron forge was brilliant. I would like to thank the manager for taking time to ask us questions about the quality of the meal, the meat and the service we had received so far during our meal. The young waiter was extremely helpful and polite. I did ask what had changed with the food as it was absolutely spot on ( he explained that they have had a change of chef). I had the carvery, grandchildren had lasagne, which looks amazing and the maple spicy chicken wings. The grandchildren ate everything, that in itself is a compliment to the chef. My husband had the spicy burger, he said was very tasty. So overall our experience this time at the iron forge was a winner and we will definitely be going back. We also like the way that the bar and lounge/ sports area are now separate, it gives a much warmer and comfortable atmosphere. Different areas for all to enjoy their own thing. Well done to all at the iron forge and we will see you again soon. 👏👍👏👏

Visited today after the recent refurb and have to say the restaurant is lovely and vibrant. We easily located a table as there was more staff than customers. We chose the chicken strips/popcorn, the chicken thigh kebab and a pie. The meals did seem quite expensive in relation to their competitors and I was shocked to pay EIGHT pounds for 2 glasses of Pepsi. Our food arrived promptly and was hot. We paid £5.99 for the chicken strips/popcorn starter and there were 2 strips and 5 pieces of popcorn chicken - a total ripoff!! My partner says the pie was delicious but my chicken kebab was an absolute nightmare. It was served on paper. The kebab was covered in hot honey so what happened to the paper when I was cutting the flatbread? It tore in to a million pieces and was stuck to all my food. Every bite I was having to check for pieces of paper. Totally ridiculous. We received no check back on our table and the staff were shouting across the restaurant to each other which didn’t give a good vibe. We were surprised we didn’t receive a check back when they’ve only just reopened. All in all, poor value for money, unnecessary gimmicky paper stuck to food, expensive for what we got. Won’t return.

Was great to be at the Forge for their soft launch opening. The food was really good, staff was very friendly and really helpful. They were out of decaf coffee, mum drinks nothing else, but as she had some in her handbag (for emergencies) they were very obliging and made her one. Happy mum. The new layout and furnishings looked great and even made the place look bigger. A lot better than before. We shall enjoy coming back here quite often I'm sure.

Fillet steak was cooked medium and tasted lovely, came with a lovely salad for the lighter option

Reopening after refurbishment, Decor was nice and welcoming, food and the service was good.

Went to the soft opening of the new look Iron Forge and wasn`t disappointed. A few tasty sounding additions to the menu, I went for the steak americano which was perfectly cooked and really flavoursome. Mum had her usual small carvery and had no complaints {which is unusual for mum, lol }. She said everything was cooked well and tasted good. My daughter had a chicken and bacon house salad and said it was the best one she had in ages, and its her go to meal when eating out so high praise indeed. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and loved the new layout and looks. A good time was had by all, highly recommend.

Excellent carvery today, served by Kev and Abbie. Met with a smile from Connie and Chelsea. Drinks served by Connie, asked if any of my family had allergies, replied no. Plenty of room between tables, Car park is ample, disabled bays near main entrance. Great children's area which is designated as a No Smoking area. Ohhh and its dog friendly too, with treats and water bowls, will bring a dog next time!! Editing Again a fabulous meal was had by a group of friends and myself. Looking forward to the refurbishment

Average pub grub place, but the carvary is not too bad, slightly overpriced

Celebrated a 40th birthday here. Dropped the cake and decorations off early so it was a surprise. The staff on shift Tegan, Sophie and Luke were brilliant! They had the table decorated for our arrival and couldn't do enough for the 8 of us the whole time we were there. Lovely food, and plenty of drink options. Service was perfect! Will definitely be back.

Dog friendly family pub with great food and the best carvery in Scunthorpe! The only downside is the lack of real ale, there's only Marston's Smooth!

Been once and never go back, food was horrible, had a steak and it was disgusting, pepper corn sauce was even worse than the steak. Staff not bothered about it at all. I wouldn't recommend that place at all.

My Mother & my partner with the dog have enjoyed coming here today. The staff are really friendly & you can have a little joke with them, so ever you are passing & what something to eat & drink I would pop in.

The server who greeted us was lovely. She was kind, chatty&even wished our daughter a happy birthday. We reserved but she gave us 2 options of where to sit. Food was delivered quickly&was hot. Everyone enjoyed it. There was 6 of us. They even went above&beyond by phoning us when our daughter left her birthday cards behind so we could turn back to collect them. Overall we enjoyed our experience&the prices are great too. Thanks for making the Mcleish's party a fab one!

Been for boxing day Christmas carvery absolutely beautiful food very tasty and delicious 😋 and staff was amazing lovely atmosphere food was gorgeous all our party complimented the food how nice it was and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the afternoon thank you very much for a lovely boxing day meal!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took my service users here for there Xmas meal along with others and was absolutely fantastic, food was great and the staff couldn’t do enough for you :) highly recommend Emma was fabulous from start to finish ensuring everything came out together and the order was correct :)

The Iron forge is always my go to for a delicious carvery. I was not disappointed on Saturday. The meat was melt in the mouth, the veg cooked to perfection. The staff always friendly and efficient

staff were friendly and helpful. the food was nice but could have been better including the portion of bread i was given with the pate as was a very small amount and had pate left over. i had to pay a lot extra for more pieces of bread which were tiny. sauce could have been tastier and a bigger jug of that. fish was a bit on the bland side but edible. veg from carvery was cold and there were no mocktails on the menu which i really wanted so opted for tap water instead. no festive drinks available.

Visited on Sunday for a carvery, was seated by Lauren after a short wait, cosy table by a window and radiator. Ordered at the bar and was served by the manager (I think, I didn’t catch his name), he was polite and quick with getting my order sorted. When I went to the carvery, the sign said ‘your carver today is Dean’ I chose Pork, it looked really nice with the crackling on top, a polite girl with glasses gave me a huge Yorkie pud I then helped myself to veggies, the roast parsnips and potato laonaise looked really nice too. The food itself was hot and tasty, I usually go for plated Sunday dinners as carvery’s can be hit or miss, but I’m glad I tried the Iron Forge out as was very impressed, not just by the food but by the service and atmosphere too. I will be back.

One of the best carverys if not the best one I have ever had, the meat which included ham beef and turkey were so soft and moist, the veg and potatoes mashed and roast were excellent Emma was very friendly when she came to our table, and the chef dean was very good at the presentation of the food as well as cooking it, well worth a visit

not too bad, visited during the week for the carvery. the price was reasonable. the atmosphere was nice, not very busy, quiet,i imagine the weekend would be alot busier and louder. the food taste nice, would have been better if it was hotter as it was only just warm, I've had better. not tried the main menu so can't comment on that.

The last three Sundays the Wife and I have had a carvery here and to be honest it has been faultless. Works out at £12 each including a drink

Well priced for the carvery,first time me and the wife have been in for about 12 months,last time we came in was with the family and the beef was like chewing a second hand flip flop,this time it was excellent,special mention for darren and dean,very polite and the service good.

Had a mix grill at the iron forge and normally I am very fussy on steak, Abbie cooked my steak to perfection it was a really enjoyable meal, service staff was amazing, Jasmine, Vanessa and Emma went above and beyond to help me

Lovely pub. Got talking to a lovely bloke called Clint, who was telling us all about his life as a chef in the merchant navy. I don’t think his brother, Shaun, liked talking about it, as he told Clint that he’s was “finished for the rest of his life”. We’ll be back.

We came out for my sister's 30th birthday and the food was cooking amazingly by Abby and the bar staff Chelsea and Connie was very accommodating with our every needs, thank you for a very joyful experience
