The Iron Forge in North Lincolnshire

Worst carvery ever experienced. Mash potato thicker than porridge and bland. Cauliflower crunchy to the point it was almost raw. Raw roasted potatoes, carrots watery as with the red cabbage which was like slops. Yorkshire pudding you needed a chain saw to cut through it, uneatable. Peas dry and hard. The only decent thing was the tasty soft beef as the gammon was very fatty. The most enjoyable part of my meal was the pint of Guinness.

Great service by Emma - warm and friendly atmosphere. Food gorgeous and service fast. Plenty of choice for everybody. 👍

Came in with a table of 14 guests for a birthday. All the food was great a mixture between carvery and menu items. Pudding order taken at the table for us and Emma came out with the cake we brought in and sang happy birthday to our friend. The service she gave was brilliant and as a new customer to the place the service received has definitely made me want to return and come more often.

Before I proceed, I must take into account, that we have more than 10 years of experience in hospitality (IT side, and my Misses worked as a Restaurant Manager for quite a while). We received a leaflet from the place, so My Misses and I decided to give it a try. They are also the closest pub to us. We visited the place on a Wednesday evening. The place was quiet (had around 20 guests in). On first impression, when we walked in and headed to the bar to order some drinks there were no staff there. Quite disappointing. We had to wait around 10 minutes just to be able to order our drinks where there weren't any queue... The staff We had our drinks and placed our food order. One mixed grill plate and one Cheeseburger menu and a dessert. The food was served on time (around 20-25 minutes), and the plates looked nice. The Cheeseburger was average, no complaints, value for money. Unfortunately, I have doubts about the mixed grill plate. The vegetables, chips and chicken breast was perfect and delicious. The gammon steak was average, value for money. The rump steak was terrible. I was only able to even cut the "medium" steak with the knife provided about the 15th time. Just tried a small bite, it was even hard to chew. My worst steak experience ever. I decided to take it home for our dog. Took her a while to even get a bit off (I wanted to upload a video of this, but google doesn't let me...). After finishing our meal, we spent about 15 minutes at the table but our dessert wasn't ready that time. We went to the bar to ask where is it, but there weren't any staff at the bar again... We go out for a smoke, on the way back we tried again, we waited about 5-10 minutes again, just for a staff member. We had been advised that our dessert is ready, and will be served straight away, this serving took 10 minutes... The staff was very polite and helpful when they appear... The place will learn the hard way, it is so unprofessional to spend money on advertisement, when they don't go the extra mile for their new customers. We will definitely choose more experienced and professional places in Scunthorpe, also I have to mention they are not the cheapest.

Very local to us so should be perfect. However when we do go for a meal at teatime there always seem to have workmen in filthy safety jackets in the restaurant area (at the bar) which is out of order! They shouldn’t even be allowed in at all dressed like that? Where’s the restaurant dress code?? I have pictures of that night if you want me to send them? Won’t be returning whilst it’s like a pub back bar which is a real shame

Food not that good was watching the carvery today and it was stood there for hours nobody had any then someone came in looked at it and walked our

2 fizzy drinks, 2 prawn cocktails and 2 regular roasts almost £40 and was given the smallest amount of meat iv ever seen! Potatoes were black, carrots were more like water and joints of meat were so small we got 2 slices each about 3 by 5 inches. And to make is worse 1 bit fell off is he plated it so I got even less.

the desert was divine the waiter lauren and darren was so kind and made an exceptional effort to make my experience enjoyable

So booked a table to dine for 4 of us to have a confirmation email and text but on arrival was told the site should not have allowed this as the kitchen was closed very disappointing

Brilliant experience, will definitely be returning! We were welcomed by a lovely lady on the bar, she said we could sit anywhere and so we did. We ordered up at the bar and when the food came it was delicious, cooked beautifully and tasted delicious.

Had a lovely night great food apart from the veg on the carvery it's was so dry even with gravy on it was still dry but apart from that it was a brilliant night for my husband birthday meal

The people were great, really friendly and polite. The food was goodish, yorkshire puddings cold, some of the veg dried out, meat a bit stringy. Chairs are filthy/ stained. Windows looked like they were cleaned with a dirty mop. Found myself cleaning my cutlery just in case. Don't know if I would visit again to be honest.

Came for sunday carvery and it was beautiful. Never fancy a carvery usually but they had carrot and swede mash and you can't say no to that. Had the gammon as it looked amazing and our yorkshire puddings were huge! We all really enjoyed our meals and will definatley be back. Well done everyone

Had a carvery we were very disappointed to say it wasn’t the best! No beef, yorkshire puddings were hard and small choice of vegetables. We didn’t even have the option to put our own stuffing on our plate and my husband was given the smallest amount! The skin was also not taken off when carving the meats so a lot of fat was put on the plate which was very off putting. First time eating here but sadly will not be returning

First and last time visiting. Came here for the first time today and was left highly disappointed. Serving staff are RUDE. My wife went to the Serving area with my daughter to get their carvery. I remained at the table with our son as he had picked off the kids menu. My wife phoned me saying that she had to do all the carvery's at the sametime. So i went up to help, to find my wife extremely stressed out. I asked her, why to find out it was your serving staff and how they had spoken to her. Id ordered an extra yorkshire pudding. I asked to have that to one of the serving staff, who was very short with me. Stormed off into the kitchen after finding out our table number. We was back at the table with 3 out of 4 meals. The waitress came to the table and informed us they didn't have my son's meal and gave him options. At this point we had already found that the meat was mostly fat, the stuffing was cold, yorkshire puddigs were dry and hard. The only warm item on the plate was vegetables We were coming for a family treat, that has been spoilt. We wont be returning

Fantastic service by kiana, carvery was spot on and the Yorkshire pudding was the best I've had in a while Sophie and Danny deserve a huge praise for a thoroughly enjoyable meal 😀

Didn't seem to busy but was a 30-45 mins wait for food. This was explained/informed at till when ordering. Straight away was asked about any allergens and directed to the correct menu👍Have a very varied gluten free menu Food was delicious, only complaint was there was no butter on my jacket potato

Excellent service by Alex on the bar and Kiana on the floor bringing food to the table. Fish cooked to perfection by Aaron. Whole family enjoyed the meals. Can't qait to come back again

We visited with our Guide Dog in training and were very impressed with how welcome we were made to feel. We were shown to a quiet table, as requested by us, and offered water for our dog. We were able to eat in the restaurant as she is a service dog in training. We chose the steak and a drink for £13.50 and were very satisfied. It was cooked as we asked - medium rare - and everything was piping hot. We will definitely be back as nothing was too much trouble.

Staff very nice. Unfortunately on this date a group of males in the bar area were using unacceptable language. Ie: verbally discussing. Swearing beyond belief in a public area.

Where a hard hard hat ! Bar lady and chef arguing about the Roast dinner. The roast was dry and looked like it was left over from Sunday ! Didn't eat there and won't be going back really bad experience

Went for a carvery and left disgusted, the meat - turkey was that dry when it was carved it crumbled but that could have been because it was so dry, medium plate yet 1 slice of meat and the guy cutting it did not make eye contact nor did he say anything, as we left the guy at the door was ignorant as we went out - I said we wouldn’t be back and all he said was “ok” I was disgust with food and service, the cauliflower cheese must have frightened the cheese off

Ordered a Pepsi max and came in a dirty glass with lipstick on the staff reluctantly changed the glass as I am male and do not wear lipstick then went up for food and it didn’t taste nice and I can’t even single out anything as it was all rlly bad and the mince sauce just tasted like vinegar and was like water texture as well as the gravy I don’t recommend if you after a carvery in Scunny go to Ashby lodge

First time going out for a long time food had been cooked nicely, and quality was good. Sadly the choice of food was restricted due to no grill's or burgers. I think because of this the venue was very quiet. Waitresses all did very well and just due to the fact it was valentine's day and having a limited selection made this to only 4 stars.

Ordered a carvery, when went up to get served no joints of meat was left. Asked what I could have - no grills, steaks etc. available unfortunately. Ring up before to see if they have any food!!

Came here for a steak . They had no stake and no beef for burgers . Ordered a chicken burger instead with a side of onion rings that were burnt crunchy and got 22 chips - cost 32 quid (not including drinks). Waiter called me boy aswell.

Service absolutely disgusting!!! Replying back to the iron forge owner, no one was threatening at all. Sophie was out of order throwing the chickens wings in the bin refusing to do any fresh ones, and refusing to give a refund. Waiting for my kids meals. My partner asked where the kids meals was. Sophie replied there is other people to serve rather than my kids. We all ordered at the same time there fore we should of had meals out all at the same time. There was no numbers on the tables, we was the only big table in there that day. Sophie wasn't perfessional what so ever going past our table pulling faces like a school girl. Plus saying every time my partner went up for a drink Sophie was saying " SAY THANK YOU THEN" I have worked in this industry before she needs to learn how to deal with customers in the correct manner. The woman that served us our meals, she kept coming up to our table and saying how sorry she was. None of my family went up to the bar to apologise on his behalf at all, he wasn't in the wrong Sophie was. You have young kids running this pub. If that was the case of my partner being that bad. if you was in the back. 1) why didn't you come out if he was that loud. 2) why wasn't he thrown out. We all came for a family meal not to be treating like this. It is disgusting. We also have 7 witnesses that we knew that was in there that day.

All the food was delicious.The staff were kind and helpful. A great exprience!

I ordered the KEBAB, which is marinated chicken thighs(salt n pepper) the first attempt was barely warm so returned staff appologised and said they would get me a fresh one, few minutes later second one arrive which was clearly the first one cut into smaller pieces and re heated, again not very warm (i suggest probing the food for temperature before serving)and second bit of chicken i tried tasted off, returned again and given a refund, kindly offered a replacement which i refused. The other meals ordered were Ultimate chicken burger, which looked good and my daughter said was nice, Hunters chicken which looked mediocre, for and adult meal it was very small quantity, and lastly scampi,chips and peas, ok you think can't get that wrong... oh yes, peas were what looked liked from the carvery bain- marie pale and old, scampi was very soggy like it had been cooked in oil that was not hot enough, again portion size for an adult was small.

Brought my parents yesterday on our weekly Tuesday meal out after a very long time (12 years ) of my dad refusing to try a carvery again.. and I have a very shocked and satisfied dad again.. Was greeted by both Chelsea and Connie the minute we walked in, shown to our table and served drinks straight away, dad says it was one of the best pints of Guinness he has had. The 4 of us had carvery’s which Danny served us and have to say it was delicious the beef was just amazing it melted in your mouth. Dean came out while we were getting our carvery and had my mum laughing she thought he was crackers.. meals were finished and was fabulous. What usually is a 3 hour meal out turned into 6 hours as my parents was enjoying themselves and we lost track of the time.. so well done Iron Forge I have a very happy mum and dad.. thankyou..

Went for an amazing carvery today and we couldn't of been made to feel better the manager was amazing he even asked if we had any food allergies which is good as my husband has an allergy to sunflower...this was the first time anyone has asked us this..

The food was nice, when it arrived. Had trouble cooking an egg with a solid yolk, brought baked beans out that had obviously been left over from breakfast. Five of us and the meals were all brought out at different times. Edit: the beans and egg were part of a mixed grill, not breakfast.

Went down for a Sunday carvery, the carvery its self was absolutely amazing couldn't fault it! The bar staff was so lovely and polite especially Karen she always has a smile on her face.

My partner has dietary Requirements and that was kindly solved by one of the wonderful staff member Karen. We had a few issues with a gentleman who had to much beer in his system and treat the staff with the upmost disrespect . Which myself and my partner having our children preasnts to hear this gentleman we had the manager Sophie come and reassured us that this gentleman would be delt with correctly and she couldn't apologise enough. This wasn't the fault of iorn forge and they delt with things correctly and pleasantly. The food was brought out on time , piping hot. And was very nice . All food was demolished by us all . Will definitely be attending again

Lovely carvery even a veggie option for me (colliflower cheese tart) the only down fall was veg,mash,York pud etc was only warm would of been better if hotter. £43 for 4 adults and 2 children good price.

Lovely friendly staff,great atmosphere and the food is lovely,been a couple of times in the last few weeks,not from Scunthorpe area,highly recommend lovely place looking forward to our next visit.

After the last time I ate here in 2022 and had a raw burger. The new manager has improved it no end the carvery was good the mac n cheese was excellent and the ultimate chicken burger was spot on

We booked a table for 2 sat near the window just as we asked for. We had fish and chips which was absolutely beautiful, the portion sizes were just right and didn't take long at all to be served! The chairs were comfy and where we were sat was really cosy. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough for us, Sophie served us and was so polite and helpful. We will definitely be back to try the carvery because it smelt delicious.

Been ill for 3 days chicken looked cooked but was still frozen after already eating it, no apologises they just replaced it but we think just reheated very poor quality no care taken in preparing food and expensive for the quality compared to other restaurants in town

I visited with family on Sunday and it was absolutely perfect. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the door and shown to our tables. It was very busy, the atmosphere was amazing. We ordered kebabs and a hotdog off the new menu and...

The staff were attentive, friendly and made our experience feel special. The food was also magnificent and the chef (Dean I believe) made delicious meals for each of us. My mother had a lasagna better than one we make at home, my husband enjoyed a steak that was perfectly cooked and I thoroughly enjoyed my two plates of Carvery; the Turkey was delectably moist and juicy. The only constructive criticism my mother gave was down to personal preference in that she prefers her lasagna ragu to have a touch more red wine when being cooked, so this was a non-issue. I would love to see a wider availability of speciality teas and Alcohol-free drinks please, as I and my guests are not drinkers, but again this is a non-issue and just a suggestion.

Batter under cooked still soggy inside fish and base just thick grease, could not eat .hunters chicken only had about a table spoon of sauce on, disgusting will not recommend.

Called in for dinner with my wife .Food was amazing ,atmosphere very good,but spoilt by ginger haired girl behind the bar swearing loudly and very often .Was quite taken aback ,as we're other customers .Shame.....

Went at 6.45 on a Thursday evening place was dead we had a 30% off voucher, we chose 2 Hunters chicken off the main menu and 2 drinks, meal could have been hotter on arrival, we wouldn't pay full price for it, no special deals...

I came in yesterday with my sister around 12 after an hour in the cold shopping at asda. Wasn’t expecting much in the food quality with wanting a carvery and it being a Tuesday! I’m pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised indeed! The food was hot, fresh and our server Bailey was so friendly. We met two other members of staff (male appeared to be chefs also) and the communication and vibe between created a great atmosphere for the pub. I would definitely recommend the Iron Forge 10/10. Food , service and experience overall was a real pleasure and Thank you all 🙂

Went to the Iron Forge for my first time , to treat a friend to a Sunday carvery and I've got to say it NEVER disappointed . To be treated by Tia at the bar that was extremely helpful, was extremely welcoming and made our induction to this wonderful place very easy and welcoming, top marks , an asset to this establishment. On going to the Carvery we were greated by Alex our carver who was very friendly and chatty and came across extremely professional . Food was well presented and delicious 10/10 . Atmosphere very relaxing . Will be returning. P. S. My friend throughly enjoyed his visit . Highly recommended.

Another good night with the family at the Iron Forge. Usual burger and pint, misses with a carvery and pepsi and kids with burgers and pepsi. Scotts burger was fantastic as always and Danis carvery was also very good. Misses loves the carvery! Kids enjoyed...

Popped in to meet friends for a coffee and fancied a dessert , place empty and had waited nearly 30minutes for it . Good job didn't order a full meal . Not impressed .

The food wasn't up to standard. I couldn't eat the roast potatoes because they were hard and horrible. They were frozen roasts from the freezer. They was different they were pasty. The stuffing wasn't cooked, it was slop.

Absolutely stellar experience at the carvery site! The succulent roast meats were perfectly cooked, and the variety of sides and condiments made for a delightful feast. Impeccable service from the friendly staff added to the overall enjoyment. This carvery site is a must-visit for anyone...

I had the Beef carvery, the veg was barely warm by the time I got to the table, grandsons (7yr old) steak was so well done it was dry....... he was so hungry and couldn't wait the 20 mins to get it replaced... took it home for the dogs who refused it .....

Ate quite late at 4pm, staff must have been exhausted but couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful, and food was 1st rate.

Staff was great and friendly food was great especially since we have picky child eaters that can't make a decision lol but we had a blast a good laugh felt welcomed and the prices was very very reasonable especially for the great quality of food

The service was excellent, the carvery was really nice apart from the very chewy Yorkshire puddings (which were huge so not a complaint about that) and the chewy toast potato’s but as they are left to sit a little while these things can’t be avoided.
