The Haymaker Steak House in North Lincolnshire

Telephoned to book a table for 4 on the return of my step Fathers 3 month work trip as a surprise, I had to wait to see if a table was available for 5 mins, booked in later than ideal 8.00pm (2 weeks notice given) only to be told on the day of arrival they had double booked and we couldn’t go ........ and later find out my friend had been on the same night and only 2 people dining!!!!!! Never again. . .

Booked a table as have been previously told it gets busy as it is very good. Nice lady in the phone informed me that they had moved premises to Elsham Golf club. We arrived st the golf club and I had to check my phone to see if it was the right place as it was empty and the golf club was shut. We walked around the corner and found the entrance lit up. Inside it was empty other than one other couple. The club itself it a large function room so they had turned off half the lights and seated us right next to the other couple by the bar. It was very quiet with no atmosphere and I felt quite anxious so unfortunately we finished our drinks and moved on. The food the other couple had looked and smelt good and the menu looked very nice too but unfortunately the building and lack of any atmosphere completely ruined it for me and I felt it was no place to celebrate a birthday.

I am not here to whine about this place but I think we just had a bad experience. We booked for 6 people on a Sunday lunchtime and turned up and it was closed! I called to ask what is going on and only then I was told they had moved location to a golf club 3 miles up the road, ok no problem these things happen. I didn’t want to eat at a golf club but I’m happy to try. Half the menu wasn’t available including ribs and burgers,, ok. We ordered a round of Sunday dinners and one steak. 1 hour and 10 mins later we got our food which is way way too long when you have a 3 and a 6 year old at the table. We were the only people in the restaurant and it was 1h 10m! Sunday dinner was fine not good and a long way from great but fine but the steak was mid well not rare as ordered but by this point I just wanted to eat and leave. They did offer a new steak but after the wrong restaurant location and the long wait I wanted out. We then received a bar bill for over £120 which again was a honest mistake but how many mistakes are too many. We might just have got them on a bad day. As I said they seemed lovely people and i wish them well.

The Haymaker has mpved into Elsham golf club which is a beautiful setting with tremendous staff but the food is now being done by the owner of the Haymaker. This morning at 10:05 we came off the golf course and went in for a coffee and Bacon roll. Debbie the lady that works the bar area and who is always helpful and smiles asked the chef for 2 bacon rolls and he said no he wouldnt make them, When we have come off the golf course before early we have always asked if we could have a roll and there has never been an issue but today he was sat talking to someone so couldn't be bothered. Only when he saw how unhappy and shocked we were did he change his mind but by then too late. Customer service at its best NOT.

Ate at the Haymaker Thursday 10th October, the food was delicious, service is great and the landlady is lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was very helpful. I had garlic mushrooms for starters, sauce with them was beautiful. Beef stroganoff for main, very tasty and lemon meringue for desert. Loads of parking space, loads of tables, plenty of space, lovely ambience.

We visited again after dropping in a couple of years ago , we're always willing try a place a couple of times . We were dissaponited last time and if anything things have got worse . If you like rude management , poor quality steak and being overcharged then this is the place for you . This was last chance saloon , never again . PS , to the lady who runs the place , treat your staff better and they'll happily work for you . Treat the customers with respect as they pay your bills .

After reading mixed reviews made the effort to travel ! Wish we had not bothered nothing special about the food very overpriced for what you receive Not a smile-from any of the staff and as for the owner !!! AVOID AVOID AVOID 👎👎👎❌❌❌❌❌❌.....Absolutely bar far the worst service I have ever ever had in my life... without a doubt I shall not ever return to this restaurant. firstly I booked this meal months ago and with children on the booking .... took a while to order meal was ok nothing special definitely over priced for the food u received... waited over 20mins with dirty plates was looked at and walked past a few times b4 anyone even attempted to clear our plates... then we ordered desserts now theres the real joke £5 odd for a sundee to arrive as 3 scoops of measly ice cream missing stuff it was listed with .. also a Ferrero brownie which they also came no sauce and dry as hell ( refused to pay ). we was then told no kids desserts as they dont have any yet didnt tell us this at the start when we booked 4 kids meals and actually wasnt ever gonna tell us either ...after complaining the lady I'm charge just didnt seem to even care at all even after explaining we had this booked for months and she knew kids was ok the booking she also said her staff shouldn't have offered certain stuff as she didnt have it in stock yet told me On the telephone when I rang to ask about the move on venue ( that I also found out thru Facebook not themselves as they failed to tell me ).... that they still had full menu!!!... staff couldnt even tell u what deserts was what 1 girl kept saying I dont actually know what it is also no spoons till our so called sundea had half melted.( how are we supposed to know if they dont ) absolutely no care for there customers what so ever and absolutely nothing done either dispite the complaint .... below a £5+ ice cream sundae 👇👇👇✋❌👎

Dined at this steak house with friends during a weekend stay in the area. The premises are very open plan with the bar area to the left and the dining area to the right. Were met and greeted promptly. Good choice of food on the menu which as you'd expect from a steak house, was predominantly steaks and burgers. Seated in the dining area after about 15 minutes. Starters arrived and were well presented and tasty. Main course was excellent (we all had steaks), well presented, cooked as ordered and plentiful. Desserts were also excellent. The main disappointment was the atmosphere. The restaurant was less than half full and felt a little "lifeless". Also, the staff although friendly, did not have knowledge of the wines available with some "out of stock". Overall, excellent food let down a little by the atmosphere in the restaurant and the lack of choice of wines.

We had a great Sunday Roast here on the 14th July 2019 , the staff were lovely nothing to much trouble the food was freshly cooked and very hot , I had roast turkey and my husband had roast beef it was presented very nicely we did not have room for dessert as the main course was very big . Excellent in all and a nice atmosphere will definatly come back here when in the area .

Called in on passing by for tea as hadnt been for a while. Great service with smiles and lovely food. Both sirloin and ribeye steaks were beautifully cooked and complimented with fresh salad and crispy chips. The side of onion rings were crunchy to bite and soft cooked inside with fresh onion - not some frozen mock up. All deserts are fresh homemade and worth popping in for alone without a main! Nothing is hurried and attention is given to exactly what you want and how you want it. Well done Haymaker xx

Along with my wife and daughter we attended this little gem of a steakhouse on a Saturday evening. We have tried it before on Valentine’s Day two years ago and weren’t impressed with the set menu on that occasion. Our minds have been changed with this visit. My wife and I had garlic mushrooms. She had a fillet steak I had a 25 oz T bone and my daughter had a build your own burger. The mushrooms were a delight and the main meals were perfect. All in all a very good meal with good service. Such good food at a good price! Had the ribs and they were amazing. What a shame to hear the owners are retiring!

Without doubt you will get a superb Fillet Steak here. But it does lack atmosphere. It severely lacks atmosphere! Also the service is lacking. Don't expect the Waiter/Waitress to pour your wine! The wine bottle will be placed on your table for you to pour! Summarising, a very good meal, but let down by the lack of service and lack of atmosphere. Would I go back again? Probably, but only probable. Nothing there to give the Wow Factor.

I took my partner there for her birthday, we both had the small T-Bone steaks (which aren't small) they were cooked perfectly with plenty of very tasty side dishes. Gorgeous desserts that must be tried if you have room, or they can box them up for you to take home. Without doubt the best steaks we have both had for a long time, we will certainly be going back and would recommend everyone try it out. Nice atmosphere with very friendly staff.

Booked this place as was recommended by a friend. So glad I did as it turned out to be a great steak house. We both ordered fillet steaks that came with the normal trimmings, so we ordered some extra onion rings (which were home made) and gorgeous plus we had garlic sauce and stilton sauce as extras. The meal came and was well presented with all the trimmings. The steaks were cooked just as we ordered to perfection for both of us as we like differently cooked steaks. The meal was very satisfying and filling (I was hoping for a pudding< but neither of us could manage one as too full). The only fault I can say was at the end when I asked for the bill, and the waitress said "I'll go get it for you" but left us there for fifteen minuits with no contact or interaction, so finally got up and went to pay bill at the bar. Not great service after meal. But all in all, we would go back again and have another meal there

This was my second visit to this restaurant and our experience was just as good as the first time. Lovely service, perfect food, the steaks were cooked perfectly and the accompanying veg was beautiful. I didn't have a dessert but those who did were very impressed. I would recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly.

Ate at the Haymaker last night. I had the Haymaker Signature Steak burger. Absolutely delicious. Would also recommend the sticky toffee pudding. Great service and friendly staff.

The food at the haymaker is amazing. I’ve been a few times and I’ve never been disappointed. The service is just right not rushed and doesn’t take hours. I will be going back maybe to do the challenge next time. 72oz steak

Family meal for 9 people, fantastic meal! Birthday meal free on presentation of ID = £35 off total bill!! Delicious food, steak cooked exactly to our choice, decent portions, very tasty! Would definitely recommend a visit here.

We had a fantastic meal this evening at The Haymaket, plenty to choose from, large portions and very tasty too. Staff greeted us with a very friendly welcome and we’re even happy to get me some diet lemonade for the next time we visit. Great value for money, you won’t be disappointed. 12 of us visited belatedly celebrating my father in law's birthday. The first thing you notice is that there is loads of room between the tables. Our table was set up already when we arrived. The menu is long so there really is something for everyone.

Very good food. Didn’t expect the quality to be as good as it was. Defiantly a place for true steak lovers!!

Steak was lovely cooked, served up with great home made chips and vegatables. Would recommend and will visit again.

Had a Top Night Food was excellent staff where very polite and accomadating to our requirements . Very clean throughout and attention to detail even to the waiting staff wearing gloves for serving . Will definetly be back and well done to all for making my mums Birthday a night to remember .

We went for a family meal and were very pleasantly surprised.

Excellent food. Friendly staff who catered for our every need. The icing on the cake was when Father Christmas paid a visit and the children received a present.

Visited for a family birthday meal and as usual good service, polite and smiling waiters and waitresses , very modern looking place (apart from the toilets which need refurb desperately )

So disappointed Despite booking for 7.30 pm we were kept waiting over 30 minutes after our drinks order before we were allowed to order our food. We were told we had to wait for the chef to be ready, they did not want to overload the chef! The restaurant was only a third full. Meals were average only, all steaks were tough gristle and sinew. Actually made me feel nauseous, especially the birthday celebrants steak a large sirloin, he ate none of it! Disgusting pricey and staff also could do with customer care service training.

When you need a good steak you need a steak house!!

Had a lovely meal on Thursday night. Will definitely be coming again. Waitress was excellent. Was only her third day but she was very polite and professional. Compliments to the chef. Amazingly good food.

Just a quick review, decided last minute on Friday to see if we could get a table for two on a rare kid free night. Really pleased that we could get a table and wasn't disappointed. We shared battered Brie and pulled pork nachos to start. Both good sized portions and really tasty. and we both had the build our own burgers. I had the 6oz. My other half opted for the bigger one. We shared chips and onions rings. The burgers were gorgeous. If anything too big. Mine had 2 big burgers in and I could quite easily have just had one burger. Very tasty. The chips and onion rings very good too. All served hot.

Recently visited here food order was wrong due to being understaffed and management do not take kindly to any complaints. What was worse than this, was me and my friends having to witness how they speak to and treat the staff! I am surprised they can employ anyone to actually work for them. Will never visit again and advise others to eat elsewhere. No staff should have to be treated or spoken to like that, they deserve far better. Staff exploitation at its finest!

Ate here this evening. Fillet steak was beautifully tender; we both had dessert: strawberry cheesecake and Snickers chocolate brownie were both very good. This steakhouse deserves to be much busier than it appeared this evening, highly recommended.

Decided visit having never been before and hearing good things.

Just spent another birthday at the Haymaker. Five of us had a lovely meal We shared two starters and then I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. Two of our party had the bang bang chicken very much enjoyed and one had the massive rodeo grill a massive plate of assorted meats. The desserts menu has a lovely choice three of us chose the orange and White chocolate cheesecake scrumptious. The haymaker menu has lots to choose from and a visit is well worth while. And if it's your birthday you get £35 of food free a lovely touch by the owners. Service excellent and every course was beautifully presented. can highly recommend.

My wife and I walked down to the Haymaker a couple of days ago. Normal order is Sirloin for myself and Fillet for the boss.

I am upset that I did not find this place earlier. Food and service are excellent, good attention to detail and the staff are attentive but do not hover. Wine list ok but could do with some additions to complement the fabulous menu. I can't wait for my next visit.

Visited here for dinner yesterday, you order in the bar area and wait with a drink until your food is ready and are then shown to your table. I had king belly ribs (£16) and my partner had the beef and chicken burger (£19 I think) with a side of onion rings (the best I have had). We waited around 20-30 minutes for our meal, but this is not an issue when it is cooked fresh and not out of a packet. When the food came out it looked and smelt amazing and tasted just as good. The ribs were really meaty and with the chips and salad that came with it (you can have potatoes and veg), I was absolutely stuffed. The burger with the chilli chips was also really nice, we can’t believe we didn’t visit sooner. I was too full for dessert but you can order to take away so I got Cadbury’s caramel brownie and my partner ordered the ferrero Roche brownie. Again both really good and Home cooked. The meal and 3 alcoholic drinks came to £60, we will without doubt be back

Booked last minute but managed to get a table. First time we've been here and suitably impressed. Nice lounge area where drinks are served and orders taken, comfortable casual dining room and excellent service.

We visit this steakhouse for my fiancée birthday, as soon as we entered the place was was greeted by a very polite waitress, we had a drink and sat out in the beer garden.

We booked for 5.30 on Saturday night, we sat in the lounge and the polite waitress gave us menu's and took our drinks order. We all ordered starters and mains we all ordered different steaks of a different types and sizes. My friend asked her Ribeye to be cooked more she asked for medium rare it was still mooing in my opinion. She said it was very chewy. It was a thick steak tbh, she said it was a lot better upon return. We all enjoyed the veg, chips and new pots. The stilton sauce was to die for. We did'nt have a desert (no room) The only thing that we did'nt like was the screaming child. They usually open earlier when children are coming. We like children don't get me wrong but he was screaming and distressed. Grandma only took him outside because she wanted to smoke. We paid and left at that point. It spoilt what was a lovely evening really. We will return in July it's my husbands birthday. Think we will book a later time.

1st visit for us all here but must say the food was outstanding. So flavoursome and presented well. Only the 2 Birthday people order a starter ( as this was free within allowance of spending up to £35 on 3 courses). Which we shared about anyway as the portions was big. We all Oder a different main meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. No room for dessert...but go on then..some shared....totally satisfying. Good service. Only downside is

We went here tonight for a family meal to celebrate a birthday! I’ve had the haymaker on my list of places to visit for a while now after seeing some amazing looking desserts on their Facebook page! I like to think of myself as a bit of a foodie and love working my way around restaurants. Tonight’s food was absolutely amazing. I had chicken saltimbocca with chips and salad. The chips were absolutely fantastic and just how I like them...chunky and homemade. My dad ordered the steak and I quote “this is the best steak I’ve had in a very long time!” Needless to say I had to try some and it melted in your mouth. But the star of the show had to be the pudding! I opted for the flavour of the month which was mars bar encased in a chocolate brownie. It was everything I want in a brownie...rich, gooey and just absolutely delicious (see photos!) The service was good and we will most definitely be returning. Even better that the birthday girl got her 3 courses free. A wonderful night!

Went out for day close by so stopped off to try food as I have wanted to for ages.

I love steak but am only allowed a limited amount. I had been anticipating my visit greatly. I ordered a T-Bone at over £30. It was so tough it could not be cut let alone chewed. Something has changed.

After a fantastic 1st visit to the Haymaker we had no hesitation in treating my niece for her birthday, and once more they did not disappoint. First class food in beautiful clean surroundings and first class service by our waiter Joe. Very professional but ready for a bit of banter - superb. Can't wait for our next visit......

Absolutely brilliant! I never review anything on here (1st review in 5 years!) But i feel that this place deserves the best it can get! The steaks were amazing but my main credit goes for the staff! The waiting on staff did everything they could to make it a plesent experience and i would like them to be accredited for their excellent service! If I'm ever in the area again or know anybody visiting I will be sure to reccomend this place and the friendly people who work here!!! 10/10!!!

I visited here for my mother in law's birthday and it did not disappoint.

WOW - is all I can say! What an fantastic meal! My boyfriend has been wanting to visit for 5years and finally brought him for a date night treat. So glad I finally gave in to him. He ordered the T-bone and I have the rump, both with chips and veg with a portion of onion rings. Everything was amazing and really well presented. The steak just melted in your mouth! Will 100% be returning and recommending to friends and family. Big thank you to the management who looked after us tonight.

A meal out for a large group of friends, I think there where 16 of us all together. Service was swift and accurate, everyone got the right order and steak was cooked to near perfection.

I booked a table for 18 people to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. The atmosphere was nice staff were exceptional and the service was spot on.

We visited to celebrate a 16th birthday and was really impressed with everything making the night a special night for the birthday girl. From the warm welcome on arrival to the service from all staff and owners to first class food, there was nothing we could fault. will be visiting again for sure thank you

Had a Retirement meal last night for the six of us.

Visited last night with family to celebrate my niece's birthday, pay of 7. Very friendly staff, linen napkins, nice atmosphere. We were delighted to discover that all the birthday girl's food would be free. The food was delicious, steaks cooked perfectly to our requirements. Our mains included ribeye steaks, sea bass, beef stroganoff, gammon, and spaghetti bolognese, and all were reported to be delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again soon.

This is the second time we have visited this steak house, recommended by my daughter who is really fussy on what she eats.

Visited Friday night 2nd Feb 2018 as a party of four adults. On arrival we were shown to a bar/waiting area were our drinks orders were placed and delivered promptly. We were given the menus for our perusal and given plenty of information re the menu. Once our orders were taken we were shown to our table in the main dining area, this area was clean, warm and comfortable. Our meals were soon delivered and were nicely presented and hot. The steaks were absolutely cooked as per our requests and so so tasty and the accompaniments again were nicely presented and delicious. Despite being full we decided to try the home made desserts, wow, so scrummy!

This was very nearly a 3* review, saved by fantastic service of the waiting staff/owner.

I’m not sure if its a case of high expectations meets average reality but we were really excited to go here after seeing their Facebook page and the social media storm they were causing. We arrived and found the decor of the place a little ‘confused’ to say the least but hey, I’m not one to judge a book by its cover so I kept an open mind. We both ordered a steak which cost between £30 and £50 which I didn’t mind paying as I had seen the pictures and reviews and thought we were in for a treat. I asked for my steak medium rare and it came past well done. It was practically a piece of old shoe leather. I also got the distinct feeling that the waiting staff (mostly young girls around 15-18) were terrified of the owner and I think I overheard her speaking down to one of them but I can’t comment as I’m unsure. My starter tasted ‘funky’ and we were left feeling stung by the bill for what I would describe as a mediocre meal. If a steak house can’t cook a steak , you got problems! We didn’t order desert as the bill was already over £100 and we had decided it wasn’t worth it.

After our first date night in a while and staying at local hotel we thought we’d try somewhere we haven’t eaten before. Both of us liking home cooked country pubs for meal this seemed like the perfect place.

We were a family party of 10 including 2 children. We were warmly welcomed, and offered drinks in the bar before being taken to our table which the staff had set up with the balloons and cards which we had provided. The staff were most friendly, efficient and attentive to our needs. We all had the Sunday roast which was beautifully cooked and well presented. The deserts were all home cooked and absolutely delicious. All in all a most memorable and enjoyable experience. We look forward to our next visit.

We have lived in Bonby for just over 15 months and were delighted on our first visit to the Haymaker. The staff in the restaurant are always welcoming, we are waited upon efficiently and the waiters/waitresses are friendly and attentive. We haven't had a bad meal at the Haymaker, we have taken friends with us and family and they've also been of the same opinion. We are not big fans of desserts, although our girls are and we've had spoonfuls of them and they are truly special and delicious and can tell they are home made and not bought in. Our daughter turns 16 shortly and she is asking whether our family can join us for a meal at the Haymaker. So far we have counted 17 and we don't think any of them will be disappointed with any aspect of the restaurant.

Called before Christmas with my son and some friends. I live fairly close to this restaurant and have heard many good reviews over the years. Time to give it a try. We arrived having booked and were seated. I agree the décor is tired and dated but clean. Drinks were ordered and delivered, Gordons and Schweppes, nothing wrong with that. The venue had one large family booking of around 8 and two two's dining on the evening we visited. Manageable I would suggest for what appears to be a 50 odd cover restaurant. Sadly we had to wait over an hour to be taken to our table. I had ordered Carnivores mixed grill which comprised sausage, chicken, steak, pork chops whilst my company all opted for steak. Now here's the good bit. THE STEAK'S ARE SUPERB! Quite possibly the biggest slabs of prime beef I've ever seen on a plate, they come in about £30.00 but are simply outstanding. All of ours were cooked fantastically. Even my very picky friend who likes his frazzled said it was the best steak he had ever eaten! The side salad was over dressed, the chips slightly under but huge. I would prefer it if they dressed the plate slightly more with half a tomato and a couple of onion rings and stuck it on the price as a side is too much. The puddings are bought in and unexciting.

From the moment we arrived we were treat fantastically. We had ribs and rodeo meal for main course and they were perfect. We then had dessert, a Ferrero Rocher pudding which was devine and a cheeseboard which I had to pack up and take home. I found this place by accident whilst looking for a steak house for my friends birthday meal. The next time we come will be no accident and we are looking forward to it already.

First visit here in 4 years. Waiters very attentive. Hubby had the 16oz ribeye, which was reported to be superb. I had the 8oz ribeye, which was too gristly for my liking. Mushrooms, chips, onion rings top notch. We would revisit.

We traveled miles for my husband to have a T-bone steak, unfortunately it wasn’t worth the journey. He only ate a bit of it, he wanted it medium- well done, it was only just past rare, he’s not one to complain so we just won’t go back. I had gammon which was a bit tough. It’s quite expensive so thought the food would have been a lot better. Service was good though.

We went to the steak house last night for my partners birthday and met triends. His 3 course meal was free for his birthday which was 2 days before. All our steaks just melted in your mouth. The whole meal was 1st class lovely service lovely food what more could you want. We travelled 40 miles to go there but it is totally worth it can't wait to ho back again very soon.

Cannot rate this place any higher - a must for anyone in the area... and well worth a trip if you’re further afield.All freshly cooked, all cooked to order and all perfect to taste. Steaks are fantastic and flavoursome, the rodeo grill was a meat lover’s heaven and the sides that come with it complement the meal brilliantly.If you’ve got room for a pudding, they are just as exceptional!Massive compliments to our hosts, with the young waitress, who was new to the role, doing brilliantly to tend to our every need. Personally this is my second visit and I can’t wait for further visits! Thank you for making my mum’s birthday so special!

We visited the Haymaker with our two sons and their wives and families for a family birthday recently. We had been years ago before it was refurbished and it was unrecognisable since the refurbishment. It now appears much larger and the main restaurant area is lovely with some really tasteful and attractive decorations.The food and service was fantastic. I didn't have steak or a burger but was told by those that did, that they were the best that they had tasted. My meal was also delicious and we will definitely return.As it was our son's birthday he got his meal free of charge which was fantastic and I imagine it must attract a of birthday bookings. There certainly seemed to be a few there at the same time as us.A thoroughly enjoyable experience for all of us, adults and children.

First visit to this resturant. First impressions are the decor is very tired, i get the impression the resturant is past its best. My wife and i ordered a 3 course meal. Prawn cocktail and pate to start, T bone steak and bang bang chicken with chocolate brownie as desert. The steak was fantastic! Cooked exactly to order with a great peppercorn sauce. Unfortunately the remainder of the meal and courses with bland, especially the chicken which was dry. The 3 stars represent the quality of the steak and the price (2x 3 courses and 4 drinks was £70) but would not return again due to distance. Not special enough to justify the drive, however if local I would recomend the steak.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit - excellent burgers. Service was good. Not the most attractive decor but clean and functional. Prices quite high for pub food.

We visited this place for the 3rd time in a year tonight to mark my niece's birthday and coincidentially it marks a year of us stumbling upon this place...there were 10 of us including our 7 month old, as always we were made to feel welcome, the crew are ALWAYS friendly and nothing was too much trouble...every bit of the food was amazing tonight including the 78oz Goliath steak my Fiance attempted and managed to eat in just 45 mins... along with a pudding. The food is absolutely beautiful here and always is so will definitely guarantee us coming back again... thank you so much for hosting an amazing evening in a beautifully decorated room. Well worth the travel to come and sample the delights x WELL DONE TEAM X

Visited with my wife and both had steak . The steak was excellent, cooked as we like it. Service was a little slow but all food is cooked as required so to be expected. Would definitely visit again.

A warm welcome to an attractive traditional pub. Excellent menu with wide choices at a reasonable price. All had different meals and all were very satisfied. Does anything else matter?

4 adults visited. 2 had steak 2 had rodeo grills. Everyone said the food was great, steaks cooked to perfection, chips are massive and so are the onion rings! Service takes a while but you're waiting for fresh cooked food. Bill wasn't bad at £40 a head for a main and dessert plus a few drinks! We'll visit again soon!

My parents are regular visitors here and took me along for Sunday lunch, it was delicious! Excellent friendly service, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.I shall be going again for sure and will spread the word.

Yet again we had another faultless meal at the Haymaker. Despite being quite busy the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was spot on . So much to choose from and quality is excellent .

The main reason you go, the food, simply faultless. There's a lot of steakhouses around the county and country that I've been to and this is up there with the best. Fillet steak was exceptional. As well as the starters / Desserts been very good also. Issue we had (and others around us) was the time it took to even get served. We even saw one table get up and leave. We prebooked so were seated straight away and drinks were ordred, however 20minutes later we still weren't seen for our food order. Then 30 minutes later we were told by the waitress they were waiting on the go ahead from the chef. Our food order was taken 40minutes after sitting down, with it coming another 40minutes later. The place was HALF full so unsure if this was a rare occurrence or how the place is run? Was (nearly) all redeemed by the food quality. A further note is the staff were VERY polite.

This must be our 10th visit and on this occasion we felt the quality of the meat was average. My rare steak was medium and 'cool'. Saturday night 7.30pm and the place was not even half full. I think it has lost it's appeal as the customer numbers seem to have fallen the last few times we've been. Always booked and travelled from Doncaster but found this time was nothing to shout about.I had Kinder Bueno Brownie and it just did not work. The wafer had gone soft and it felt like chewing warm cardboard. Should've sent it back but everyone just wanted to leave.Wouldn't rush back I'm afraid.

Haven't been to this location since it was a pub many years ago. Was recommended to us so we went as a birthday celebratory meal.Restaurant was quiet (it was Sunday teatime) but service good and drinks supplied straightaway. Food a little bit more expensive that the usual pub grub but well worth it. Quality products, perfectly cooked and generous portions. Good selection of sundries with meals and excellent wedge chips.Puddings were great, or so I am told. I was too full to try them. We will return and also recommend to our friends.

A good place to visit for those with a large appetite, like myself. An excellent selection of steak cuts in a variety of sized up to a mammoth 'Goliath' steak weighing over 2kgs! Good starters, like nachos and other traditional starters and sharing platters. The steaks are sourced from some really tasty cows and really well cooked to your liking. Good chips, vegetables and salads could do with a bit more passion and livening up a bit for modern audiences, but the star of the show is the steak. Burgers looked good also. Some good, indulgent deserts. Some friendly young waiting staff and head of house very professional. This is a good place to come for a meal out, or a celebration. They make great efforts for birthday parties, and good loyalty scheme.

We chose The Haymaker for our 4th wedding anniversary - we live fairly locally and haven't eaten here before, so it was a good excuse to try it out!Booking was simple and friendly - we arrived at 7.30pm on a Saturday night. Parking was plentiful and we were greeted on arrival by a friendly, smiley waitress. There was a large seating area to peruse the menus, with comfy seats and your drinks are brought to you. Although it's nice to have a separate area from the diners, it can be hard to choose your meal when there's no opportunity to ogle what people have ordered! One of the slightly strange things is that you can't smell any food or cooking at all! Usually when you go to a restaurant your tastebuds start tingling as soon as you walk through the door, but you wouldn't have known it was a restaurant! Not a criticism, just an observation. We ordered a large glass of Merlot and a pint of IPA, both arrived promptly. The waitress (although clearly busy rushing around) was really friendly, and took our order promptly.We ordered the sharing nachos with pulled pork to start, then I ordered a 16oz rump steak (rare) with Diane sauce, chips and veg. My husband went for the 16oz sirloin (medium) with peppercorn sauce, chips and salad.We were shown to our table in the large restaurant area. It would have been nice to be nearer the windows rather than in the corner against the wall, but we assumed those were reserved for people arriving later (alas, they remained largely empty so our fault for not asking to move). The decor is quite nice - they have obviously tried to modernise an old building and although some features remain, it has clearly had a complete overhaul. The exception is the toilets which, although clean, are very dated!!The nachos were a huge portion, but all delicious. The pulled pork was really flavoursome. The steaks were huge, very flavoursome and well cooked. We both felt the vegetables were quite overcooked, and the salad that came alongside my husband's meal was ok, but was obviously not great salad produce used and it was quite old-fashioned in presentation. We then ordered the rocky road cheesecake and caramel egg brownie (we were really stuffed by now, but seeing other tables tucking into desserts, we couldn't leave without sampling!). Both were nicely presented, incredibly rich and decadent. Unsurprisingly we couldn't finish them, but the accompanying cappuccino and Americano went down well. Positives:- The steaks were cooked pretty much to perfection- the waiting staff were all friendly, professional and efficient- we never felt hurried (consequently we were there for 2.5 hours, so if you're after a quick meal this probably isn't the place for you)- starters and puddings were well presented and tasty- all drinks are great and they do a good cappuccino!Points to improve:- side dishes need a shake-up. The veg was overcooked and the broccoli floret was the side of the palm of my hand and dripping with cooking water. We didn't feel that we wanted to mention to staff about this because the portions of steak and chips were so huge that we left the vast majority of the side dishes anyway!- although the waiting staff were all excellent (we felt), they were under the watchful eye and critique of the manager, who seemed to make them feel on edge and nervous. Twice I heard her speaking sharply and quite aggressively to other staff members. Her interaction with us was pleasant however, and I understand the importance of ensuring the business runs smoothly and efficiently. The staff are clearly competent, so hopefully the manager normally treats them with respect and we just witnessed a stressful moment!- the decor, in its attempts to be more modern, is admittedly a little blandOverall, for a sharing starter, two steak main courses, two desserts, 1 pint, 1 large glass of wine, 2 diet cokes, 2 cappuccinos and 1 Americano, the bill came to just over £93. Slightly on the high end of what we would normally pay but the steak was very good, and it was a special anniversary meal!We would go back to try the burgers as we saw a couple of other diners eating them, and they looked fab! We were also presented with loyalty cards at the end of the meal, and when you get 8 stamps you get a free meal! Excellent idea!

Just had a family birthday meal out here, our first visit. Will definitely be going back! Food was outstanding and the service was wonderful, from the owner and the young, polite and professional waiting staff. I had the ribs, melted in the mouth! We also had the rodeo grill (fantastic value for money for meat lovers, had to bring half of it home!) and the sea bass which was beautiful with the lemon pepper sauce. We also had the sharing starter with wedges, chicken wings etc, it was huge and plenty for us all to have a nibble. I can't find the words to describe the puddings. The stuff dreams are made of and spoilt for choice (this is from someone who doesn't normally bother with puddings)! The Rocky road Cheesecake got glowing reviews from Mum and the rest of us had the Ferrero Rocher Delight.... yes, that is Ferrero rochers baked into brownies, with hot chocolate sauce and cream or icecream. Amazing! The birthday boy even got £35 off his 3 courses which is very generous. WIll definitely go back!

Recently visited here not only food order wrong but we were unable to do anything about our complaint due to rude management. What was worse than this, was us having to witness how they speak to and treat the staff! I am surprised they are still in business or that anyone actually works for them. Will never visit again and advise others to eat elsewhere. No staff should have to be treated or spoken to like that, they deserve far better.

We arrived at the location after a small drive from Brigg centre. It is located in a small village and with ample parking in the car park. When we walked in, we saw the dining areas, which were clean and matched the theme of steakhouse. My only criticism of the decor was the ghastly silhouette of cowgirls next to the bulls which honestly looked more like strippers. After looking at the menu and speaking to the waitress about various items, we decided to order. Starters: I had the beer battered brie with side salad. It was nice and oozy inside and the side salad was a fresh palette cleanser. My suggestion for improvement is to breadcrumb the brie as it holds less oil and gives more of a crunch texture that the batter lacked. Kim ordered the garlic mushroom with crusty bread. It was delicious if you are fan of garlic and mushroom. The mushrooms were soft, absorbed a good flavour of garlic and the sauce was thick, perfect for the crusty bread. For mains, I ordered the 32oz serloin steak (rare), it came out mostly rare in the middle, medium elsewhere. They had a good seer and very juicy. The quality of steaks were excellent, the only seasoning on them was salt and pepper which worked a treat. Each mouthful was full of divine steak and I devoured it in 17 minutes ;). In the side was a side salad which wasn't really needed. Kim ordered a 12oz fillet cut (medium/well) but came out quite over well done, a little dry (which that cut will do unless ordered rare) and it just fell apart when cut which showcased the high quality of the cut. She really enjoyed the steak and has decided to order it medium. For the sides, chunky chips which were rustic and fluffy inside, winter vegetables dressed with a hint of butter. We ordered each sauce that was on the menu from Garlic mayo, salsa, bbq, ketchup and some other one. The garlic mayo worked. Verdict: Highly recommend going! Cost : £60ishLeft feeling: About to explode and can't wait to go back. It was a great experience and idea steakhouse for large steaks. A few refinements that could really bring some items to the next level.

Delicious, this is more than a steak house.My wife and two friends recently had a meal at the haymaker and had a great evening.The service, although the place was busy with a birthday party, was excellent, we had a three-course meal and all three were first class, with of course the fillet steak. (We decided we couldn’t do the Goliath) being perfect,The two ladies didn’t have steak but were very pleased with their selection of chicken with peppercorn sauce.The sweets (puddings) also deserve a mention, excellent.This place doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and is well worth a little ride (took us half an hour) into the country. And a loyalty card too, brilliant will go again.

Have wanted to try here for a while after reading rave reviews and hearing fab reviews from people that I know but was very disappointed . We hadn't booked a table but at 6.30 it wasn't busy so got straight in . I must say the young lady at the bar was lovely , obviously new as kept having to ask how to do the drinks but she kept her cool and was very pleasant . Sat down with a drink while looking through the menu . We ordered the sharing starter and then the t bone steak and rib eye for main . We sat for a little longer until we got moved to a table in the restaurant . We then sat there for about another 15 mins before the starter arrived . It was massive but disappointing . The only good bit was the onion rings . The potato wedges tasted just like McCain wedges (and looked like them too) the chicken wings were okay as was the garlic bread .. after we finished we waited another 10 minutes for our mains . Although both steaks looked good they were just okay , nothing special and certainly nothing to write home about (I've had better ones from Asda on the 2 for 7 pound deal) the chips were in fact more like roast potatoes and salad was a little meh .. other halfs t bone was okay but a bit flavourless . He had the veg and potatoes with his but without the cheese sauce on some of the veg they were bland too . The garlic sauce he had for his steak was okay , nice taste of garlic but after a little very sickly . When (I'm presuming it was the manager) came to clear our plates we asked for the bill straight away . We had been in there nearly 2 hours which was reficulous to say the least . Like I said it wasn't busy (a table of 8 who were already eating when we sat down , and 2 other tables of four) and we were in there nearly 2 hours . I seriously don't think we will return

I was looking forward to a nice meal with my fiance and I had heard good thing of this place however we arrived all was well to begin with however they seemed under staffed Thier was one waitress running around like a headless chicken Trying to do what she could for the customers whilst the manager did very little . We were served our drinks after a short while we were seated and our starters came .... I'm not sure weather the food is made in house and fresh but for the price I would hope so ...my partner ordered the pate witch was under seasoned and bland I had the brie adlnd the batter was extremely Dense also salad wasn't even dressed witch was a rookie mistake. Wasn't too long after mains came my partner ordered the t bone and I a rib eye both came out overdone one was supposed to be medium and mine was supposed to be mid rare we spoke to management about the steaks as mine was medium and the t bone came well done ...and she said that they all come in different variations due to the cut of meat ????? If you order a medium steak it should be medium not well done and she spoke to use very rudely as if we did not no what we were talking about however I my self am a chef who has worked for 3 rossette and michinlin star chefs so actually I do not what I am talking about . anyways my partners steak came back again and was not mid well but in fear of not eating he decided to eat it ....the steaks came with roast potatoes ( supposed to be chips ) and cream sauce with pepper ( supposed to be pepper corn sauce ) again we couldn't eat the onion rings as the were so dense and greasy and veg was so overcooked. All lacked a basic seasoning .....except the steaks witch were over seasoned with pepper witch is stated no were in the menu .....after we ate we asked for the bill from the lovely waitress and it came to 79.95 witch I thought for the care and quality of the meal we had it was extortionate! And blind robbery ....we went to pay the bill gave the loyalty cards back as this was a joke and we will not be returning and the manager served us and gave us £11 pound off the bill ....even with the discount it is still not worth the petrol we used to get their ....I suggest they hire a chef that has passion and actually can cook a steak and find a new manager who has some form of basic people skills also give the poor waitress a raise !!!!

I had not been here before but it came highly recommended by one of our members. It didn't disappoint . The actual restaurant is very spacious with a small bar at which service was good and quick. The interior is possibly a little dated but doesn't take anything away from the restaurant or the visit. Whilst it is a steak house there are plenty of meals available for anyone who doesn't fancy steak. The starters were excellent and the mains were as good as you would get anywhere ranging on our evening from 8 oz fillet steaks to an 18oz one of our guys had to burgers and strogonov . The veg and side dishes on offer again were spot on and everything you would want .The sweets again were top notch. A final comment and the crux of any business was the excellent service offered by the landlady and her staff. The service the young waitresses gave could not have been better.Well done. A very good evening I will be going back soon.
