The Inn on the Lake in Milton Keynes

My family and I booked this venue for my late wife's wake. An ideal location. pliantly of room inside, garden space and parking. They provided tea, coffee and a buffet. the food was Wonderfull with enough to go around for a party of 150+ people. Reasonable priced with friendly staff. very kind and caring through some difficult times. Thank you The Inn on the Lake.

I am very late posting my review! We held our wedding reception at the Inn on the Lake in September. Leigh and the team were fantastic prior to and during the day. They went above and beyond to ensure we all had a fantastic day. The food was so good and the location is fab. Thank you so much!

Good food, great service and reasonably priced... Went on a Thurs Evening when it wasn't the busiest - so can't give the full five stars for atmosphere 😉

Lovely, friendly staff and atmosphere. Suzanne was really helpful with my disabled Mum, thank you. Disabled toilet has two doors to negotiate and is quite small, which makes entering/exiting difficult without some assistance. However, lovely coffee and then a nice walk around the lake afterwards.

Popped in for a Saturday lunch on the way to the Marshall Arena. Staff were really friendly and chatty. Food was great.

Well it was the Beacon when I first came here with an upstairs cocktail bar ! Welcoming team and lovely cold Guinness Zero.

Pub was empty on arrival. Very abrupt staff. Rushed in wanting to know what we wanted to drink before we even sat down. Red wine was off, food was awful, cold and when asked for other veg than peas as allergic to skins offered baked beans. Same as or could pay for a veg bowl. Ordered Ham, egg and chips when I asked if chef could ensure runny eggs I was assured they would be, but we're like bullets. No offer to change them or even reduce the bill. We will NEVER return. Pub decoration nice but needs new management and even better chef. 😡😡

Lovely afternoon tea celebrating 50th birthday

This friendly family-run pub is right beside a pretty lake with outside seating. The food is always good and the staff are helpful. Cleanest pub toilets I’ve ever been in! We’ve been here for Christmas and booked out the back of the pub for birthdays. Their pies are fantastic and the prices very good. Recommended.

I was at on one of there outside tables eating a bag of crisps with my girlfriend looking at the lake when the manager of the pub came out and told us we are not aloud to sit on the outside area while eating our own food. There was literally not a single other person out there so I don’t believe we were disturbing anyone else I’m not sure why he needed us to move or if he was trying to get us to buy food from his pub but I found that extremely rude and unnecessary and he stood there and waited for us to move on telling us if we walk round to the other side of the lake there is other benches which we are aloud to use. Unbelievable

Good atmosphere, the pub is very clean and well maintained, the personnel is very polite, helpful and professional. The food on the other side is not too great, we had a Beef Burger and Chicken Milanese; the burger was below average but the Chicken Milanese was good at all...

Is a very nice charming place, staff attentive but needs a better choice in terms of the menu offer , was looking at the menu and could not decide what to choose, very sure this can be improved to attrack more clients or make them return. Liked it , enjoyed the music, but not so impressed...maybe I will try an afternoon tea..to see how that will be

Unable to review as was turned away at the threshold upon arrival last night at 21:15 as they were closed due to it being a ‘quiet day’!? Have been a couple of times previously for pre match drinks and found the establishment quite pleasant however won’t bother again now.

Very friendly greeting,staff lovely and very welcoming. Food good value, my only gripe was the chipped plate's our deserts were on!

Lovely food and lovely staff. When you drive up to the pub it faces some industrial units but don't worry, when you get to the front door it faces a nice lake! It's a bit like the Tardis, it's larger inside than it looks from the outside. Make sure you're hungry when you go in, the portions are very generous!

Absolutely LOVE this place. It’s mine and my partners go-to. Feels so homely, beautifully decorated (especially at Christmas). Staff go above and beyond too! We also had our baby shower here - WOW! My family of 15 enjoyed celebrating our 61st wedding anniversary with an afternoon tea in their upstairs area yesterday. The staff couldn’t do enough for us bringing all the incredible food and drinks to us. This area of the restaurant is underused and I would recommend it to all - from a couple wanting a quiet tea and chat, to a mixed age family group like ours, with discerning tastes and big appetites! Thank you Inn on the Lake.

Arrived to the host saying 'welcome to the 80s' had hopes it would be an interesting take on 80s food. No it was 80s food, but worse than it was in the 80s. Terrible service, awful decor and the place probably hadn't been cleaned since the 80s - sticky disgusting tables included. Avoid!

Came here for an evening meal. The table was sticky and dirty. The decor is not to my taste, others may like it, but it just reminded me of my nan's house in the 70s. There were old dirty trivial pursuit cards on the table, and cables to lamps next to the table ready to be knocked off. Service was slow. We waited 15 minutes to get a drink order, then food was another 30 minutes to get ordered. No one asked us if we wanted more drinks, or about the food. Think the waiters don't ask because they know they'll likely get grief. The food was horrific. The mains were like school dinners, and not good ones, the ones you remember for all the wrong reasons. The liver was reheated and powdery, the mash dense and unpalletable. The suet pudding was slop. The prawn cocktails were every bit the berni Inn experience the world left behind 30 years ago for all the right reasons. Pretty poor show.

We hired the event room for our parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. We were able to decorate how we wanted, bar a couple of fair rules (no pins/sellotape and no confetti), the staff were incredibly accommodating, polite and helpful and the atmosphere was lovely. We had a buffet meal which came out when expected and there was zero complaints about the food, which is unheard of for a group of 40 people! I would recommend this venue to anybody looking to book a function.

Good Sunday lunch, lovely staff just felt that they were a little short staffed maybe!

Unsure how to book as website not in service. Future reference call ahead or use Facebook. They still managed to squeeze us in. 4 adults 1 child. This pub has gone through a lot of changes, and this look is appealing to families. The service was prompt and friendly. We were put at ease and made to feel very welcome. The menu is good and has lots of options. Must say the Jacket Potatoes were on point and as close to perfection as you can get. (Only person to get perfection was Jack CMK market, and these were damn close) it is obvious that this is an independent from the quality of the food and service. There is a sense of pride in all of the team. We will definitely be back again.

Visited here for the first time and was delightfully suprised. The staff are wonderfully welcoming to ourselves and the dog. The food was delicious and didnt have to wait too long to eat. Will definately be revisiting this beautiful place!

Didn't like this pub. No draught ale and yapping dogs not being controlled. It's fine to be dog friendly pub (I like dogs) but it shouldn't take over and cause issue for guests wanting a drink and a chat. We had 2 hours to kill having a drink but left after 1 drink.

Amazing food, Amazing service and reasonably quiet. Food is handed out to the table all together.

First visit and won't be the last. Excellent meal with service to match. Hayden was welcoming, friendly and always there when needed. I tried the Steak and Cheddar cheese shortcrust pie and it was delicious. Rich gravy, quality meat filling with no skimping on filling. I had to beg for a taste of the Caribbean Chicken which was also a delight. I definitely recommend this pub for a great meal and night out.

Had lunch last week it’s been a while since I ate there was always good value for money and good food, but sadly it was a shadow of its former self,suet pie was average mash was nasty,has anyone had the same experience ?????

Had a lovely buffet for around 40 people after my Dads funeral. The staff were lovely so helpfull and nothing was too much trouble.

We met here for a post Christmas meal with family - four of us. We were surprised that the kitchens were closing at 16:30 & the pub at 6PM - but luckily we arrived at 3 so had plenty of time. The menu had a large selection of all the standard things you would expect to see in a decent British pub. They did not have enough fish left to fulfil our order, but the apologies were genuine & choosing a replacement for one of the party was simple. Warm spiced cider was a lovely Xmas quirky offering & 2 of our group had this & said that it was excellent 👌. The food came quickly, was hot and well prepared, all played were clean at the end of the meal. Pudding selection was good & portion sizes large! Despite the fact we were eventually the only patrons remaining & closing time was fast approaching, we were never hurried or hassled even when we headed to the comfy sofas by the fire for coffee. Lovely place, will definitely return if the circumstances bring us to this area in the future.

Stumbled across The Inn on the Lake by chance by googling dog friendly pubs near me whilst in the Milton Keynes area looking for a spot of lunch with the family and our dog. The service was great, friendly atmosphere, and very dog friendly, couldn't fault it. Will be returning for sure.

This has to be the friendliest pub in the Milton Keynes area. The staff is beyond helpful and incredibly kind. We took two dogs with us and they were treated with so much love especially as one of our dogs has a floor phobia. Sadie is the kindest person and gives 5 star attention to dogs and humans alike🥰👏🏻🥰

Early Christmas meal which was fabulous. Food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming. A second visit for a family party was brilliant with a fantastic buffet. The staff again were welcoming and very helpful

I would like to thank the staff for the service we received at our Christmas party, and for the help you gave me in organising it. The food was fantastic, and plenty of it. There were no complaints at all, everybody enjoyed the evening. There is a very good chance we will all be back again next Christmas. Thanks once again.

Great venues for a party lots of space and a seperate function room.

Popped in for a bite after visiting the nearby car supermarket and were tired and hungry. Very friendly welcome, cosy place and in a lovely location surrounded by trees and a lake. Food didn’t take too long to arrive and it was all pretty good, actually the starter was pretty big so I struggled to finish my main! We actually dropped round here a second time a week or so later… after going go-karting nearby. Definitely a little gem, reasonably priced and worth checking out.

I nice pub, not too busy, they have a room that you can hire with a buffet (which was DELICIOUS!) Only down 1 star because they stopped serving at 9pm (maybe they close early??) Otherwise excellent!

We had a first birthday party in the back room and despite the rest of the pub being really busy, the staff were very helpful. The lady who helped us to tidy up afterwards was very warm and friendly. A great experience! I definitely recommend it.

We had variety of meals, all looked and tasted wonderful both times have been to have meal. Staff very good too. Will definitely be returning soon.

Afternoon Tea with my sister. Warm welcome, great food (and plenty of it!) Quick and friendly service from Sadie and her team. We requested a large pot of hot water as we had brought our own tea bags (Roiboos tea)…pot was replenished with no fuss and we had a great time. Will definitely be going there again..can highly recommend this venue.Thank you Sadie!!

What a lovely little find on our journey home from Legoland to also meet some cousins who have recently had a baby. The staff were lovely and very attentive, the decor is very warm and cosy and the food was lovely too!

A last minute decision to go out for a Sunday Roast and, not being familiar with the area, I googled ‘dog friendly pub’ and the Inn on the Lake came up. Even at 4.43pm when the kitchen closed at 5pm the lady on the phone said we could have a table. We were there in 5 minutes and welcomed warmly by the same lady. Even Ted 🐶 was greeted and given a bowl of water. Four delicious Sunday roasts and four desserts later we left the pub very happy. Excellent customer service, friendly staff, delicious food and comfortable surroundings, what more could we ask for. Highly recommended.

We had my daughters 21st birthday party at Inn on the Lake. It was the perfect venue for such an occasion. All the staff were attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The amount of space was ideal and everyone had a great time. I left my car in the car park over night (so that I could have a drink or two) and returned the next day to collect. We decided to have Sunday lunch. All the staff recognised us, and were again amazing. Plus, the food was excellent. I will be making a point of recommending this venue to people.

Absolutely the best cooked meal I have ever had. The Caribbean chicken was to die for with the crispiest jacket potatoes I have ever had. Annie and Sarah are such good hosts and very entertaining. Highly recommend.
