Fantastic gastro pub, with reliably good food. Great enthusiastic, helpful and friendly staff. Good select of food and drink. All at good prices for quality.

Went for the first time 16/10/2024 as menu looked promising. Received a warm welcome however food was bland as lacked flavour and seasoning and portion size and presentation was poor. Fillet steak was one of the smallest I’ve seen and not worth £34. Interesting no weight for the steaks is stated on the menu which is unusual in my experience. Will not be returning as our party all agreed poor value for the money. £195 without service for 4 adults and 2 children for just main courses and garlic bread starters. Drinks 2 small glasses of wine, 2 lagers and an orange juice. Please don’t trust their photographs as you will be very disappointed.

I went there for a lunch with my friends. The Grumpy Mole restaurants are of a high standard, excellent food, great service and very clean. You can be sure of a high standard here. Slightly on the high price range but good value because of the standard of the restaurant

Great place with good service and outstanding food! I have been going to this place for the past 8 years and I have not been disappointed a single time! Potato skins are a must but you will not go wrong with anything on the menu!

This is a lovely Grumpy Mole. The staff are delightful and the atmosphere calm and restful. The food is always of a good quality with a selection to suit most tastes. Plenty of car parking with enough disabled spots.

Friendly welcome from the staff. The staff serving were very professional and diligent. The selection of food was great. Vegetarian options available. There was a gluten free menu. Staff accommodated changes to meals. I had vegetarian stroganoff. It was delicious and well presented. Followed by a creme brulee. There is a good wine list and also bar drinks.

Food and ambience a treat. Slightly confused by the fact that Grumpy Mole comes up when you ring or try to connect with Inn on the green until you realise that that GM runs this Inn and 4 others in the area. That aside, it was worth the need to persevere to get a booking.

Nice place. Had sunday lunch. Everything was ok. Food was quite bland and needed better seasoning. Portion size was ok.

We were waited on by John. He was so friendly, helpful and attentive. It was very nice to be looked after by someone who knew their job and who was very respectful and who gave the personal touch. We shall return for the delicious food and hopefully to be looked after by John again!

Great service and wonderful food. Just two things could improve... 200ml coke is what I'd expect in a hotel minibar, not a restaurant. And the beetroot wellington meal is very small. Minor complaints. We eat here alot!

Had the most splendid afternoon tea. I opted for just scones with jam and cream. They were big and I was full after eating both. Other members of my group had the full cream tea, which all agreed was delicious. The gluten free tea was a little disappointing. Cake looked like a wedding cake and feedback on the sandwiches were that they were a bit dry. 7/8 customers singing praise though.

My first visit to the pub. We were there for a wedding reception. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and did a fantastic job. The food was delicious! I can't say more.... Other than try it for yourself. I'll be back to eat again.

First time visiting a Grumpy Mole, and if they are all as good as this one you won't go wrong. Food was beautifully presented and absolutely tasty. Not the cheapest place but I throughly enjoyed it.

I've driven past the pubs on this road since I was a baby, I'd never stopped to try one. Decided on the grumpy mole simply because of its position away from the road on a small village green. I did no research, I had no expectations. I was met with warm and professional hospitality, a table found quickly for us 2 guys, us not really meeting the dress code. No problem it seems. Nice. The menu was correctly sized. It represents England perfectly. Fresh fish, meat, pies, offal. As a rule when I'm somewhere that looks and behaves like it knows what it's doing, I'll order the offal dishes. That's the test. Between the two of us, we had two starters, three mains, and two desserts. Pâté and a scallop bake for starters. The pâté was home made, rich and silky, very luxurious. The scallop bake however was the star. Every part of it was perfectly cooked, and it tasted great. I was very surprised how they managed to not overcook them, but ensure the puff pastry was perfect. For mains, sea bass, steak and kidney pudding, and calves liver and bacon. The sea bass was competently prepared, and tasted good. I disagreed with my partner in that I thought it didn't taste fresh. But, I live in fish country so maybe I'm just used to it being pulled out of the sea only hours before eating. It was good. That much is for sure. The steak and kidney pudding was delicious, perfect suet, perfect cook on the meats. The winner however was the liver and bacon. To cook liver that well, keeping the moisture in, elevating it's natural flavour - it's not easy to find. It was, to me, a clear sign that this place isn't messing around. The ginger pudding and custard, a favourite of mine since childhood, was as sticky and sumptuous as I had wished it would be. My friend was extremely satisfied with the chocolate brownie. The staff were at all times demonstrating class and etiquette, while being friendly and welcoming. This is a must visit, especially if you are foreign, in the area and want to taste proper English food instead of the frozen convenience food many pubs put out. It's the food we ate around the family table growing up, but elevated far beyond. Thank you to the staff for a fantastic experience, and somewhere to recommend that I know won't let me down.

Had my wife's 60th birthday here with 25 people and it was great. Everyone loved the food and setting and staff were so helpful and accommodating

The food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. People were booking again for the following week, as I did. The only problem is that the car park is not big enough. Every available space seemed to have gone and we were just able to squeeze in. By the way, this pub has been renamed 'The Grumpy Mole'

Lovely setting with smart interior but the traditional steak & kidney pie was disappointing, the meat was grisly but other food we had was OK.

Visited this restaurant yesterday, 15/10/23. Right from the start the front of house was very welcoming and friendly. The waiting staff were also just as welcoming and friendly. The choice of food and quality is outstanding. I chose the Sri Lankan Chicken Curry it was absolutely beautiful. My husband went for the three meat roast dinner meal it looked divine and i was told the meat was beautiful. I hasten to add he didn't leave anything!! The kitchen chef and crew are to be praised. All the staff are a credit to their Manager and i would definitely go back. Well done everyone and thank you for an enjoyable experience.

Lovely place ,great relaxed atmosphere, had beetroot Wellington ( a new dish on menu) it was amazing really tasty accompanied by gravy and salad of feta,walnut and leaves. Unusual and delicious definitely will come again

Fantastic food - very fresh and really well cooked. Service is always impeccable. It is a place I often take my family, and each time is better than the last. They also don’t do service charge - which is why we will be coming back and giving our own tips.

We arrived at 1 o’clock, and we’re almost the only ones there. The staff were quite direct and I was a little concerned - as time went on the place got busier the food was outstanding, I had salmon teriyaki, the Surrey Hills ale is about as good as you can get, the staff were very efficient and attentive and the whole atmosphere was warm and friendly. Recommend

Had a private room for a family celebration - was the perfect set up and the team were amazing from start to finish, including planning the event.

Visited with my husband and daughter for lunch earlier in the week. We hadn't been here for quite a few years but thought we would try it again. We are very glad that we did, as we found our dishes of curry, fish and chips and steak very good indeed but what made the lunch even more enjoyable was the excellent service we received from our waitress, Abby. She was cheerful and welcoming whilst being very attentive and professional. Despite her young years, she has obviously learned very quickly how to look after her customers, anticipating our need for more drinks, for example, before we had to ask and rushing to pick up cutlery that my daughter had dropped on the floor and quickly replacing it. She is an asset to the Grumpy Mole and deserves 5 stars! We will certainly return.

Food was good with very friendly service

We had a family meal your establishment for my wife's 80th birthday, yesterday, at 13.30 pm. My only criticism about service was the long gaps between servings. Considering you were serving afternoon teas whilst we were finishing our main course or certainly our desserts. Apart from that, my wife thoroughly enjoyed herself, thanks mainly to the family of course. We will be back, making that iconic quote!

Good pub (Grumpy Mole as I always call it). Eaten here lots of times and generally it's very good food.

Been going there every month for nearly 2 years they have just messed up our booking they were rude and not helpful at all will not be going back very disappointed

Beautiful building & gardens, we went for my mums 90th birthday on a Tuesday night so expected it to be quiet. Service very slow, avocado missing from her prawn cocktail, I had to leave my starter to find someone. Fish pie was so dry inedible, they did change it for a chicken pie but it meant my daughter eating after we had finished, plus the peas where like bullets been so overcooked. Was told the chef only just returned but feel at these prices not an excuse. ,

Sitting in the restaurant the staff are really kice however when we booked to get a table over the phone they lied and said they could organise food for the birthday girl that is gluten and dairy free as she is allergic. When we got to the restaurant the waitress we had, whom was a little rude if I'm being honest, said the birthday girl could only eat certain foods without sauces other food she couldn't. It felt like we were lied to a deceived just to come to the restaurant for a disappointing birthday. I will never recommend especially since it is just over priced pub grub

Great food but didn't feel like my business was all that important, not allowed to open tab, had to pay for food and drinks up front - had a serving tray on my table for the first 10mins until I moved it and no one came to check if we wanted anything or if the food was ok... The food however was delicious

Nice place, service was really good. Food was a mixed bag. I had the Mediterranean platter which was small, and honestly a bit average, the cauliflower in particular was not great. Sweet potato fries a bit soggy. I still ate them, so clearly not all bad My lunch partner had the pie which looked good and she very much enjoyed

Food was really good, nice varied choice. All hot and fresh. The waiters were very friendly and chatty and very accommodating. The restaurant is quite dated in appearance and doesnt have much atmosphere

Really nice place, great food and drink choice. Good atmosphere. Service excellent. Was intending to have two courses but ended up having three 😁. The chicken kebabs, steak and kidney pudding and apple strudel were superb and the price was very reasonable.

Having had a delicious afternoon tea in Cheam to celebrate my birthday, I decided to treat my husband to the same in Tadworth. Unfortunately, our experience was not as enjoyable. As at Cheam, I had a gluten free option, but, unfortunately, I was rather disappointed with my tea. The sandwiches were very tasty but my scones we're rock hard and I couldn't eat them. Also, the selection of cakes was fewer than my husband's 'normal' tea and not very imaginative. It was all very disappointing. I shall go to Cheam again next time.

Fantastic meal had by a large party. We were celebrating my dad's 85th birthday. I brought a cake myself and the staff decorated and put candles on it and came out and sang happy birthday. They were very attentive and we had a wonderful time.

Stumbled across this place while in the area. What a find, I loved it! Food was outstanding and the gentleman (I presumed he was the owner) who served us was so attentive and genuinely interested in how we found everything. I live nowhere near this place but will definitely make another visit this year.

Before I moved to epsom this was my local. I came here for a meal today and the service and staff were lovely. Beautiful food and warm cosy atmosphere. We are coming here again in January. You can’t beat the quality of the food here and the service. Thank you. Update - the grumpy mole did a fantastic job with my Nans wake yesterday the staff went above and beyond and the whole experience was very lovely. Thank you so much to all the team at grumpy mole. We really appreciate it. We also came here for my partners birthday. He had the steak on the stone and what a fantastic experience. The food here is top quality and the staff are so lovely. They go above and beyond here.

A wonderful experience today, celebrating an 80th birthday... beautiful place, wonderful food, lovely atmosphere and superb service. ALL the staff were so welcoming and kind, but our waitress was just so attentive to our party of 8. We changed our minds on a few things but everything was just as we wished, thank you so much for a really great afternoon.
