The Inn at Torbrex in Stirling

We had exclusive use of the upstairs dining room for a family celebration. Our designated waitress/bar woman for the evening was Georgia. She is such an asset to the Inn, nothing was too much bother for her. Our meals were excellent. I can recommend the cauliflower wings, they were delicious. I also had food envy when I saw the bruschetta. Mains were very good too, the creamy chicken and black pudding pie was lush. The only slight complaint was that the vegan stir fry had a bit too much chilli in. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and have already recommended the Inn to friends.

Came here with a friend for the Mexican night which is on every Tuesday. Ordered the chicken nachos, chilli nachos and jalapeño poppers and two chocolate chilli mousses. The poppers were piping hot and very tasty no complaints here. The chilli nachos were barely lukewarm and had to be sent back. The same dish arrived back, hot as in hot and cold but no taste of chilli at all, very bland. The ‘chicken’ nachos arrived minus the chicken i.e just cheese. Those were also sent back. The menu said BBQ chicken but it was plain chicken shredded, again zero flavour. The two chocolate mousses arrived, minus the ‘churros’ chips (which were advertised on the menu)! and served with pouring cream not whipped cream (which was advertised on menu) and oddly a giant strawberry (not listed on menu). Again had to send both dishes back to have the churros chips added on then they arrived back with mini (greasy) churros, still not churro chips! Not value for money at 7.50 a pop. Nicely laid out restaurant, nice waiter but I don’t expect to send my whole meal back. I won’t be returning in a hurry until the chef can cook as per the menu and more flavours are added to the dishes!!

On a lovely sunny day popped in for a lovely fresh lunch. Staff super nice and genuine welcome . Burger was soooooooo delicious with a cheeky baked potato/side of red onion(Full salad with it but I just wanted red onion!) Toilets spotless .This lovely place has really good menu with different price options. We will be back as it was simply fab!

Decent place , fantastic service . Waitress could not have done more . Food was good but was not wowed by it . Steak and ale pie for me and mac n cheese for my adult daughter . No complaints , but didn't leave thinking it was amazing . All in all though , a good dining experience . Lovely homely atmosphere . Date of visit: March 2024

I’ve been back twice recently. The steak and ale pie was absolutely delicious with perfectly cooked veggies, hence going back the second time! Cosy atmosphere, and the service was great.

We have visited The Inn at Torbrex many times overs the years but unfortunately it seems to have gone downhill. We went as 4 adults and the food was disappointing with 1 of our mains being almost inedible. The beef was just a lump of burnt fat and gristle which they had tried to hide with gravy. With barely even an apology when it wasn’t eaten and pointed out. We had also paid a deposit per person when we booked which the said they had no record of. We had to find the payment on our banking app to prove this when it came to paying the bill. Overall very poor.

Absolutely wonderful food and great value for money. The service was 1st class with the staff being polite and attentive. We will most certainly be back.

From the last minute availability enquiry, to the moment we left, a brilliant experience. Superb staff friendliness and efficiency, great food, excellent beer, a really warm atmosphere and tasteful decor. Encountered five different staff, all exemplars of professionalism and friendliness. Sometimes it’s the tiny details which show how well a place is run…like when a waiter replenishing drinks auto-corrects where he’s placed your fresh drink, having spotted you’re left handed. That’s a cut above. Food delicious, decently priced and well presented. I wish I lived a bit closer so I could visit without driving!

I had the best fajitas here and usually come here with my family for drinks and food.The staff here and super friendly and kind, which creates a cosy atmosphere as they are dog friendly and give them little treats and bowls of water. One of my favourite places 👍

Nice food, but felt uncomfortable with it being our first time visiting. We had been given a gift voucher to visit just 2 weeks before we went for lunch a few weeks back, and it was like the Spanish Inquisition when we advised we had a gift voucher for our meal. No trust and we were made to feel very uncomfortable when 3 members of staff had to inspect it, ask us questions about where we got it and when, and one female server rolled her eyes when she realised we had a voucher instead of paying cash or card on the day. Nice food, but won’t be in any rush to return as we felt like second class citizens. Not to mention, we were visiting for a special occasion and it didn’t feel very special as soon as the gift voucher was handed over to them. Put a downer on the rest of our afternoon, and we left pretty quickly after finishing our food. Not to mention, we also got asked to leave a tip when buying some soft drinks, before we had even had any food brought to our table, the server was shocked we didn’t want to tip, as rightly so, we had not seen any evidence worthy of tipping.

I was in tonight with my Mum sister & daughter for general catch up, had an awesome welcome from Andy, happy & polite gentleman. Service was excellant with Young Mathew barman being super courteous to my Mum after she mistook him for someone else..... The icing on the cake was The Inn at Torbrex pie " Apple & cinnamon " with custard Absolutely delicious couldnt fault it, with my sister saying it was best one shes ever eaten.... So glad its back with the original owners xx

First time we have visited after several years. Food and ambience much improved since previous visits. Will visit again as we enjoyed our lunch here.

Great little find this. Wife found this before we went but due to their phone line issues we couldn’t book in advance. Stirling gets booked up quick so when options were limited we took the point to drive out here on a Sunday night in the hope they would accommodate us. Despite being very busy they were able to find us a table for 9 due to the issues we had had. The food was very good but the service better. The girl servicing us did make some mistakes, but how she dealt with it was perfect and therefore was left contented and satisfied.

Fathers day lunch at the Torbrex. It was our first visit since the original owners were back running the venue. Two starters, 2 mains, 4 softdrinks and a meal from the kids menu. Starters were lovely, the mains were good but we had to send the burger back from the kids menu as it was undercooked. Staff were lovely and it was busy so we had a wee bit of a wait. £69 was the final bill. We thought that was slightly expensive, especially for lunch. This venue is good but Stirling has other venues of a similar standard and you won't pay as much as we did there. Would we go back? Probably not as we found it too expensive for what we got.

We booked far in advance for a family dinner and they were super accomodating and very friendly. The service was attentive, the food was superb je restaurant area was clean. They were really considerate with the children (we had 10) sat at the table and made sure they were all happy with their orders. Absolutely loved it!!! Thank you again! We all had a fabulous time ☺️

Went here for my birthday dinner. Firstly food was great but service was that bad that we won’t be back. We waited longer on our desserts than we did for the main course and when we asked the “manageress” she said that they were busy serving the “party of 40 upstairs”. Yes we know there was a large group upstairs but if they had said that it might be a bit longer for our food or even apologised then that would have been acceptable but we got no apology from her at all. We had to go to the bar and wait to ask for the bill as no one came near and when we explained to the girl behind the bar that we weren’t happy she was really apologetic but too little too late. As we left we said to the “manageress” we wouldn’t be back. All she could say was Ok! Still no apology. So we will certainly not be back.

Visited the The at Torbrex today with family. Food was outstanding, my niece and I had the fish and chips with trimmings and was so tasty my sister-in-law had steak pie with chips little one had kids fish and services by Cheryl was first class.

Excellent meal at the Inn. Well presented dishes, good sized portions and very tasty. Top quality grub and excellent service. Decent selection of beers on tap. Starters were delicious as was the 'Pie of the day' We were too stuffed for desserts! Spotlessly clean and in great condition inside and out. Plenty parking at the rear. Highly recommended

Such a lovely old style Scottish Inn with a modern interior. Menu is varied+the food was delicious 😋. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Since the Inn at Torbrex has reopened, they have somehow managed to significantly improve on everything poorly rated in the recent reviews. The portions were hearty enough to leave you feeling full with just one course, but you'll want to try starter and dessert too! The meals looked good, and tasted even better. Would recommend anyone to revisit this place again. Thanks to all the friendly staff. We'll be back!

Oh wow, this place is pretty bad. Portions are the size for kids. Kids meal over-cooked to the point it’s inedible (and no beans left but only told after asking where they were). Fajitas over spiced. No burgers and no steak available either. We said it last time but this time is absolutely the last. Just awful.

This was a last minute decision for a meal. Having never been before we were relying on the online reviews. We were greeted by a relatively friendly staff member albeit there was a slight panic as we weren’t pre-booked. All sorted quickly and we were seated. The decor is a combination of antique/modern and is a very warm atmosphere. The menu is not overly expansive but there is something for everyone. Our choices were made and service was very prompt. The food was also very delicious. My only criticism was that the menu stated skin in fries, but we were served French fries that could have done with an extra few minutes in the fryer. Otherwise all good. This will definitely be worth another visit

Decided to give the Torbrex another go after a couple of poor experiences. Unfortunately things have gotten worse rather than better. The portion sizes are like nothing I’ve ever seen. My husband got a bowl of carbonara that looked like a small child’s portion. My daughter got 15 pieces of macaroni. My pie was ok, but came with a small handful of chips, one piece of soggy broccoli & 4 thin slices of carrot. All of us had to have more to eat when we went home - including our 2 year old (!). Sadly this place is living off previous good reviews & is being run into the ground. Do not waste your money. A real shame as it used to be excellent.

Out with 3 couples for dinner, we've all been regulars over the years, which makes the decline of the Torbrex is so sad to see. We used to visit most weeks, then it slowly started to dwindle as the food quality began to wane. The service from Cheryl was warm and welcoming as ever. However, sadly the food quality hasn't improved, bland and pre-made. There was a lack of meat in the steak pie's and only a handfull of skinny chips. The veg accompanying all the mains was thinly sliced carrots and 1 small broccoli floret, pathetic. We agreed the quality and portion sizes across the group were lacking, considering the premium price, it's extremely disappointing. Until the current custodians have a rethink about the quality and quantity of the food, sadly we won't be back.

There for my sister's birthday. Over the years we have been to the Torbrex and the food was always good, Sad to say this was not the case on this visit .Portion sizes of the fish were a joke. One of them looked like a fish finger. Asked if the burgers were made in house and told yes. They were obviously not. and had been cremated. Both were sent back and the replacements were fine. Salad consisted of two bits of green pepper and a couple of bits of cabbage! I have worked in hospitality and particularly in these hard times, an effort needs to be made, if you want customers to return. You cannot expect people to pay high prices for badly presented and inferior food. Will never be back which is sad as we have loved the place for over 40 years

Very disappointed in this place. Used to be a good local but the food is now very poor. Ate there last night and Mac Cheese was dry and tasteless. The menu is generally uninspiring. I may return occasionally for a drink but I would advise you avoid if you re looking for a half decent meal.

Busy and cosy place with a very good value mid week menu. We didn’t book and they managed to squeeze us in- thank you Service was pleasant and quick. Food was really nice.

Lovely bar and restaurant area, nice atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and attentive. We dropped in for lunch and although it was quite busy they found a table for us and served our order quickly. We had fajitas and veggie burgers and they were all delicious and reasonably priced. The only downside was that the building was a bit chilly possibly because the front door didn't seem to close properly and a few people were sitting with coats on. Otherwise though a great place and we'll visit again!

I booked on line after viewing the menu. As my wife is Coeliac the choices of Gluten free food was excellent as well as a wee treat for her 81st. Birthday. I was utterly disappointed when there was only one gluten free item on the menu and when I bought this to attention of waitress, I was told that the on line menu hadn't been altered which in effect is false advertising. It spoiled my wife's birthday.

Just left the Torbrex Inn having just had one of the poorest meals I have had anywhere for a long time. Food was poor and whilst waitress was pleasant service was poor. What has happened to this place? It used to be such a nice place to go for a meal.

What a disappointing evening …we have been several times before but I doubt we’ll be back. Several items on the menu weren’t available and the service poor. We sat for 35mins after the main course before someone came to clear our plates. It’s normally very busy on a Saturday night but only a few tables were occupied. It’s such a shame as this used to have a great atmosphere with friendly staff.

When I entered the establishment I was meeting someone for a business meeting. The person behind the bar was on the phone for at least 10 minutes before a drink service was offered. The waitress was pleasant and cannot fault their service. Food was not sampled on this occasion, but considering the time it took to get drinks we really didn't have all night. Parking was easy although I attended at a quiet time. Accessibility: ASD - Quiet and dark atmosphere at the time I attended. Property seemed wheelchair accessible, but cannot confirm toilet situation.

Really nice place! They allow dog in the bar area and you can still order food from the same menu in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly!

Staff were lovely, atmosphere was nice too but nachos are extremely difficult to eat as they are baked fresh (which should be lovely) but then you cannot separate them. The steak pie was a bit salty, but the fish was very nice.
