We checked out the reviews for restraunts near where we were staying and The Inn at Kippen came up. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic! Best meal I've had in a long while. I had duck breast and my wife had the blade of beef. Both meals were delicious. The menu had plenty of choices on it including steaks so this gives me an excuse to return. The server was also polite and helpful. We will definitely be back !

Met friends here for dinner and an overnight stay. We have stayed before and enjoyed it again. We all enjoyed the food, I had mussels followed by haddock, phew! all was tasty but portion size got me again, a lot of food. Lamb , venison and featherblade of beef was all excellent and plates were emptied. Three desserts were ordered, not me, and were all devoured. Only downside was the white wine we ordered wasn't chilled, had to add ice. Tasty though. Staff, Jack the barman and Paul, owner/chef are very friendly and the service was great. Breakfast was first class, all served hot and delicious, haggis, sausage, bacon and perfect poached eggs. Again, the service was lovely, Laura, cheery and friendly. Really good way to start the day. Try the haggis? Nice big room, although the bath needs renewing. A great place for an overnighter, we'll be back for sure. Oh, one last word about the natives, very friendly also.

We were on holiday nearby this place and decided to go for some dinner, I have to say from the outside I wasn't too sure about it but we went in and we had the fish and chips and the penne pasta both were excellent. It was so good we went back the next night, this time we had steak pie with chips and sausages and mash again excellent. We read the reviews on the Sunday roast and they said the meat was melt in your mouth, so we went for Sunday lunch, and unfortunately this was a big dissapointment for us, the beef was tough, yorkshire pudd was cold, I thought they might offer cauliflower cheese but they don't. We decided to have a dessert and mine was not great, the pannacotta was tasteless and the sticky toffee pudd was OK but sauce was not rich enough. We definitely would recommend, just for us the Sunday lunch was a let down. You must get the triple cooked chips these are to die for.

We travelled for four hours to kippen and arrived about 7.30pm. With a teenager and dog we headed to The Inn in the hopes of being fed. We were welcomed and seated straight away, we had the most amazing service, I didn't catch his name but the young lad working Friday night (the 23rd of August) with the blonde pony tail gave us the best service we've ever had eating out. He made us all feel instantly welcome even the dog. He was so attentive and I loved his warmth and the care he took to make sure we were happy and well fed. The food was also delicious but hats off to that young lad he's a credit to The Inn at Kippen!!

Wow! Amazing food, amazing place, amazing place! The owners went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay for our wedding anniversary. I loved the fact that they knew who we were when we arrived, they asked if the room was OK once we settled in, they even had a bottle of water in the room which we were ready for after a long drive- just what we needed, my husband loved the fact there was tunnocks tea cakes in the room too. The meals we had there were divine, I can't speak highly enough had how gorgeous they were, how much effort and time was put into cooking it all! Prices were reasonable for drinks and food. We loved the details in the Inn, such as the piano in the hallway, the garden was beautiful, the hooks for the towels in the bathroom, the front of the Inn, all these little things made the stay extra special. The staff and owners were very friendly, I feel we were given the best room! We will definitely be highly recommending them and coming back! Thanks again for making our stay extra special.

Invited for dinner by friends who were staying over and we decided to stay over too. Good decision, very friendly and lively night at dinner. I had posh beans on toast and beetroot and quinoa burger, both dishes were very tasty. Everyone else enjoyed the meals served by a very busy waiter/barman called Jack, well done. Menu was interesting and I could have chosen at least 3 starters and 6 mains, but decided to have a meat free dinner, good move. Mussels were excellent, and what a bowlful, wow! Steak pie was nice too, and a lot of it and the venison looked lovely and a clean plate was the result. Shared cheese board and a banana split were also quality. I shared the cheese and loved it, really good value and good choices of cheese. The dining area was neat and well set out and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, busy Monday night and a good atmosphere. Our room was at the back which was fine and I understand the rooms are a work in progress which explains why ours was a little tired. Slept ok, but no chance of missing the 7 o'clock church bells ringing, again that was fine. Nice bits and bobs in the room, big pillows and a big warm duvet, although we didn't need it. The mattresses need renewing, but again we realise that they are a work in progress. And so, to breakfast, again served with a friendly smile, and excellent quality local produce. Full Scottish with toast and coffee/tea, skipped lunch as breakfast was very filling. Haggis and bacon were top end, yum! Really enjoyed our overnight stay and look forward to a return, maybe when new mattresses and their own beer is being served.

They welcomed us in despite the fact that restaurant was suffering an unfortunate power outage. We ate by candlelight while the kitchen soldiered on with power in their section of building. We had a lovely meal at the Inn at Kippen. The atmosphere to begin with was a little quiet, though as the restaurant filled up it became more lively which was good. Two of our party had mussels to start, which were delicious although we were a little disappointed with quite a few closed ones were found. The chicken parfait and salmon though were both faultless. The venison and duck main courses were enjoyed by all of us though and were beautifully presented. Staff were really friendly and service quick. Would recommend for people travelling to the area.

We had booked a table of 4 for dinner weeks in advance and arrived with 30 minutes to spare so we could have a pre-dinner drink and make our choices without rushing. There were several tables occupied in the restaurant and a handful of people in the courtyard bar but we were puzzled why it took 20 minutes to get a drink, a further 10 minutes to be offered menus and a further 35 minutes to be shown to our table.... the mussels starters were delicious with a creamy leek and bacon sauce but the ladies' choice of twice-baked souffle was disappointingly very small and under risen. However main courses of pan-fried duck breast with black pudding and a berry sauce, asparagus & garlic risotto and haunch of venison were all excellent, despite 1 venison arriving 10 minutes later than the other dishes. Desserts were vanilla panna cotta and chocolate caramel tart which went down well.Overall the food was good and the serving staff never stood still - but something wasn't quite right in the kitchen. We'll try again when we're next in the area and hope it meets the experiences of other reviewers!

The food was oustanding, venison was the best my Dad said he has ever had. Ribeye and Filllet steaks wonderfully tasty and juicy. Cheese board sublime. Service excellent and friendly, even giving our dog biscuits and water!! The only negative was that the dining room and entrance was needing a good clean. Dust on emergency lights, skirtings and dirt on the carpet. The interior needs sharpened up in general. This gave us a negatively false impression on arrival but the food was truly fantastic amd won us over. Would happily visit again and recommend but just a wee bit more to do which would provide an all round fabulous experience.

The Inn at Kippen had been recommended to us by our son and daughter-in-law and we were really pleased to find out that they would deliver to our area - some 40 minutes drive away from the restaurant. With Valentine's Day coming up, and no opportunity to go out for a meal as we would normally do, it seemed the perfect opportunity to order a special meal from the Inn.Wow! We were not disappointed.Every course was a delight - the Gazpacho 'amuse bouche' (which hubby particularly enjoyed), the giant langoustines, the perfectly cooked beef and vegetables, the chocolate heart (hiding a whole variety of little cakes and sweets) and, finally, the cheeseboard. The cooking instructions were very easy to follow and the 'live demo' video on Facebook fun to watch. There was so much food that we had to spread it across a couple of days. No complaint there! There is no doubt that we will order from the Inn at Kippen again and, once the restaurant re-opens after the pandemic, we will pay a visit in person. Thanks guys for making what could have been (yet another) ordinary day, something special.

We hadn't been there before but were so glad that we made the decision to give it a try, as we will Definitely be back. We've always enjoy a good meal out and found the Inn didn't let us down. It was both warm and charming in ambiance and the owners, Laura and Paul (also Executive Chef) since Nov. 2019, were welcoming and friendly. Perfect!! What we will remember from our visit: the offer to taste and choose a glass of wine from the selection available; the delicious and locally sourced food - I had venison sausages, colcannon, seasonal vegetables & onion gravy, and Eddie had the homemade beefburger with bacon and cheese, & triple fried potato wedges topped with bacon and parmesan. The combination of flavours hit the spot!! We then shared a superb cheese board - all Scottish and cleverly / tantalisingly thought out, as they appealed to and greatly pleased our tastebuds ... a winner in our eyes! (A nice touch: Laura presented the dinner plates with white gloves on ... so good to have a hot plate free from fingerprints around the edges. Thanks Laura!)It was an affordable meal and, after paying, I asked to view a couple of bedrooms that would be available for B&B (we've many friends & relatives who'd love to stay there!) and was shown examples of their Standard and Superior rooms. Both of which were of generous size and in keeping with the essence of the building, which is situated within the pretty and historic village of Kippen. A beautiful place with much to offer and explore within its surrounds....some excellent walks to be had from the front door!! Leave the car and enjoy Thank you Laura and Paul. It is fair to say that the Inn at Kippen has had a patchy recent history. However, I am optimistic that has changed with the arrival of a “husband and wife” team that really deserve to succeed.“Mr” is the Chef and, with justifiable pride, brings the food to your table. “Mrs” does front of house. They are two lovely people and make you feel very welcome. They are obviously passionate and proud of what they do.I had the Cullen Skink priced at a very reasonable £5 with a cheese scone on the side (soup of the day £3.95). I then had the cheese burger (see photo). The food was delicious and the drinks brought promptly. The menu is commendably concise (I get suspicious at long menus), “gastro pub”, and with something for everyone. Yesterday’s special was Loin of Venison. The Inn was warm and cosy. Appreciated in mid January. In conclusion, well worth a trip visit. A lovely welcome, lovely honest fare and good value for money. 10/10.

Laura and Paul the new owners have been in for just over a month and what a change. The food is delicious. We were there for a family meal. We could choose from either the Christmas menu or the a la carte. I had the duck which was so tasty with many different flavours. Our party had a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant diner. Both were catered for very well. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. I thoroughly recommend trying this new venture.

Delighted to find new management doing a marvellous job just one month after taking over. I'd given up on the previous management after too many bad experiences. But last night's means I'll be back soon! I had a very innovative and delicious cullen skink terrine followed by salmon with tomato paprika butter. No room for dessert Prompt friendly service. Well done!

A group of us went for dinner and had a pleasant evening. Between us we had the pasta, risotto, fish and chips and pan-fried haddock. Each of the meals was fine and the serves were generous enough. Apparently the pasta was delicious and I suffered pasta envy! I had the risotto which was nice without being spectacular. As a vegetarian (well pescatarian) only pasta or risotto were on offer for me. I would have loved a meal with more vegetables available. I couldn’t even see a side salad as an option on the menu.

This restaurant is once again under new management The decor is simple, welcoming and the seats are very comfortable. The menu is not pretentious and quite limited but it changes every week and they have said that they will be expanding it as the settle in - a very sensible move. We had 4 separate main courses so that we could try as much as possible. The treacle coated ham was a surprise but extremely tasty. The risotto was also very good whilst the battered fish and the burger were well cooked and most enjoyable. We only manage 2 crumbles between us and they were also extremely good. So, a very good start and hopefully this is the start of an improvement after the last owners.

I went to The Inn for Sunday lunch with my wife. I din’t have a reservation but was accommodated. The Inn was busy and the food was really what you would expect from a rural Contry Inn. We order a couple of glasses of wine from their house wine list. Simple but nice. Staters of Smoked Salmon, Chicken Liver Parfait . Mains of Roast Beef, Roast Half Chicken with a good selection of vegetables and crisp and crunchy roast potatoes and pouring gravy. It was really good, maybe a little too much. I was full when it came to choosing dessert. My wife tried the Affogato made with really good Coffee and Vanilla Pod Ice cream. The hostess or manager Jo was brilliant . I am looking forward to another visit soon, so I can try the Roast Haddock and herb butter. I asked for a look around the room so that next time I can go for a sleep after lunch.

We bought a Wowcher voucher for an overnight stay at the start of February 2019. Luckily, l checked their Facebook page the same day before travelling over. Another customer had written the place had closed down, they too had arrived for a stay only to find it closed. I tried calling the hotel over several hours, no reply. Terrible customer service, l only booked two weeks earlier, leaving my mobile number. The least they could have done was to call and let us know. We can't take regular holidays and rely on getting away for a night when we can. Very let down.

Our family had recommended based on past experience (maybe 12m+ ago). Clearly a lot has happened since then as our experience was awful. Place had zero atmosphere, was physically cold, staff were unprofessional and clearly had no training, food was underwhelming and was expensive for what you got. I could go on but long and short it is difficult to see how they could have failed on any more levels. Also worth pointing out that the pictures of the food on the website are very misleading as these bore no resemblance to our experience.

Service was good but the food was terrible. The menu is not what I'd expect from a village pub it's pretentious and overpriced for frozen food cooked badly. Most of the 3 meals ordered were either luke warm or cold. The duck was very dry and the fondant potato was shrivelled, dry and tasted of "dirty" oil. The crushed potatoes that came with the chicken supreme were full of skin that had "black" bits in it. The spinach/ricotta lasagne was burnt on top and starting to congeal as it was only lukewarm. On reflection we should have walked out but as we had just arrived in Kippen for the weekend we just wanted to eat and relax after travelling. We would not recommend and doubt we would go back in the future either.

Had booked a table for 3. Arrived and a table of 5 were already seated. Their order was taken and arrived; it was wrong. A man is dirty jeans and t-shirt asked us for our drinks order. He had to return to the bar 3 times to confirm questions about beer and wine. Was a really poor impression - not professionally dressed either. Ordered food and wine. Dishes arrived, minus a soda bread. Asked for the soda bread, only to be told they had forgotten it. Returned with a slice of white bread which was plonked down with no explanation. Called the waiter back and asked for it to be toasted. This was grudgingly taken away and return with a light toasting. Then had to ask for butter. The meals were almost over! The bill was then wrong - had been overcharged. Considering we were the only table left there was no excuse. Service was terrible, clearly no training given to the staff who never even apologised for getting the bill so wrong. You would think that, given new ownership, a manager might be present on a Sat night but no. Left with a couple of untrained kids. The cutlery was given to us bythe waitress who passed it over with the top of the knife and fork as opposed to the handles so had to wash them.

This is a regular haunt the family have used for years. The ownership recently changed and perhaps it is still settling down. The manager was friendly and joked with my grandaugher which was nice, but it took a long time for the food to arrive and we finally had to ask for bread the stave off the children's hunger pangs - surely bread and water shoud be immediate. The food was good and well presented - except the Eton Mess which we all sampled and agreed it was about the worst we'd ever had. A good waiter can make a meal and the lad serving I'm sure did his best but a bit of professionalism and training would go a long way.

What a great place to stop off for lunch. Great welcome, convers and service from Robert who is barman and waiter This is about a far removed from a chain pub with plastic decor and food and fake continental lager as you can get. The home made steak and ale pie was wonderful, served with a generous selection of vegetables and chips - all beautifully cooked and served hot. My wife had the home made mushroom, wholegrain mustard and tarragon soup - possibly the best mushroom soup she's ever tasted - together with a fresh cooked baguette filled with prawns and rose Marie sauce. Three real ales on tap from the Lade Brewery - again superb. There's even a real ale shop on site. Fantastic. Worth the drive from Loch Lomond for the soup alone. Oh, and less expensive than chain pubs as well. Our best food and drink experience this holiday and will definitely visit again in the future.
