The Inn in Harrogate

We really enjoyed our meal at The Inn, there was nothing we could fault!! The service was brilliant, the food was beautiful, it was nice to have beautiful food in a restaurant that was comfortable for everyone!

Yet again couldn’t fault this little gem .. Went with my niece for lunch and it was just brilliant.. She had the chickpea curry and i had the gammon with a cheeky side of blue cheese sauce.. Staff amazing.. Especially the older blonde lady .. Don’t take that as an insult.. Just a little older than the other waitress.. You know who you are ? Brilliant service, fantastic food .. We will be back x

Service was very good and the food fine. I had chicken ham and leek pie. That said, I don’t call an inch tall puff pastry lid perched on the dish a proper pie but that’s me being pedantic! I am though annoyed at just receiving a parking charge of £100 (£60 of paid quickly). There is admittedly a sign but I didn’t see it until after the event. I won’t go back!

Impeccable service,warm atmosphere and outstanding food! Never disappoints when we come here. Amazing selection with ample portions.

Have just enjoyed a delicious 3 course lunch on Thursday 8th February Ham Hock fritters and cranberry starter was amazing food is good quality and generous portions the homemade shortbread with creme brulee was the best I have tasted Well done to the chef who prepared this meal we will certainly be returning again.

We booked last minute for 2 nights and so glad we did, the room we had wasp lovely, modern and we had a walk in shower which was excellent, plenty of hot water and fresh towels daily. The food was superb with such a large range from the menu and came piping hot. Even the breakfast had a large choice. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I will be definitely recommending The Inn to all my friends and family.

My Big zero birthday surprise with 38 family & friends which my husband planned to perfection. The room setup was super, the staff fantastic, service attentive without being fussy, and importantly the food was outstanding, only one word for it. PERFECT. Thank you for making my day so special and memorable.

We visited in December - had been to see Father Christmas and needed to feed a large group of 17. Had tried a few pubs locally - The Inn got us in no problem. We arrived and had been given a large private room at the back. Service and food were excellent, and so grateful that the team had allowed a large group to dine at such short notice. It really started our Christmas off well. Will be back next year (with a little more notice on our Booking!)

We visited here today for a birthday, 11 adults and 3 children. We did book in advance, but only the table not the food. The staff were really great and the food was too notch. We all had very different food from pizza to seafood linguine -it all came out together, was piping hot and very nice. We are already planning our next reunion but will stay overnight as we all felt really comfortable!

We haven’t been to the Inn for a long time, our daughter had recently recommended it for food So very pleased we returned, we had a fairly light lunch and can confirm this is such now a very highly run business, the food and ambience is top class and very attentive staff, see you again very soon

Had Christmas dinner here today with all the family and it did not disappoint! I am vegetarian and they always have lots of options. Fantastic food, huge portions, polite lovely staff and smooth service. We have eaten here often both for evening dinner and Sunday lunch and it is consistently excellent . They do THE best Sunday lunch in the area by far! Thank you

Went today for lunch. We were served by Will. Excellent service. Made to feel very welcome and well looked after. Second time I have been and served by Will who is a credit to the restaurant. Super menu. Plenty of choice.

Two ordered the East Coast Haddock, plate full of chips and the smallest haddock we have ever seen. Value for money zero!

We attended a wedding function here and stayed in one of the lovely Lodge rooms. The staff were fabulous, very friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and the venue was great! Would definitely stay again.

Very nice hotel and the food was brilliant. Had an issue with the plumbing in the room but they assured me it will be sorted for next user. Other than that we'll worth a visit as could not have been better looked after

Avoid like the plague, management are rude and the whole experience was one of the worst experienced. Food was cold and not what was ordered, service was slow and management seems uninterested, when discussing the complaint. Would not recommend to anyone

I wrote a review 6 years ago and my husband, doggie and I visit The Inn for lunch each week and I therefore wanted to write an updated review. We all love The Inn because we feel one of the Inn family- the food is really good with plenty of choice and the staff are so very very warm and considerate. We love this Inn and will be continuing to eat there in the future. It is not often one finds such a place AND they love dogs too - you don`t have to leave your dog in the car - take him/her inside and receive a big welcome. Well done The Inn - you are certainly doing everything right.

Very comfortable dining with a very extensive menu. There was an excellent choice of drinks on offer and the food was very well prepared. We had impeccable, friendly and professional table service from Colin, who in himself made the occasion very pleasurable. Thank you Colin, you raised our spirits.

We had a faultless experience at the Inn - lovely, comfortable, well appointed, spacious room and a (good value) fabulous dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast was made to order and even the toast was delivered - all of which was such a treat. Our waitress for dinner (6/9) was delightful but I don't remember her name sadly. Colin at breakfast was hilarious as well as extremely courteous. Definitely go there - you wont be disappointed!

I have visited many places to eat and i am super fussy. I have just been reading the reviews as i haven't been for a while as i don't pass through like i used to with work. But i have eaten here many times and it has been brilliant. Food superb, service and atmosphere spot on. In Fact just looking for my husbands 50th for tomorrow night......Cannot fault this place...

Lovely place , can’t fault it. Rooms amazing bar area wonderful. Food great. The greatest thing about this place though is the staff , from the young girl serving , to the gentleman behind the bar couldn’t do enough to make your stay wonderful. Special mention to the older gentleman who does the breakfast service ( apologise didn’t get his name ) he’s a credit to your business he really is. Would definitely return had the best weekend away.

We were staying in Harrogate and we were returning from a day at the coast and came across The Inn, what a find! Super food excellent service all fronted by a guy called Chris, keep hold of him, a credit to The Inn.

Food was brilliant although my kebab was a little salty! A lovely selection of Gin . The place was lovely and clean and ample parking.

We wanted an hotel near to Harrogate and chose this from the internet. I have to say it was value for money at £153 bed & Breakfast. The room was excellent with everything we needed Evening meal was excellent and tremendous value at £49 including a glass of wine and two beers (total bill for two people) Breakfast next morning was superb and the Gentleman serving was a delight. Would we stay again ? Cannot wait !!!!!!!

Excellent meal, very friendly staff, so good we visited twice !! Had the lovely burger the first night and great steak the second night.

We chose from the set lunch menu. The pate to start was ok, the battered fish was tasty albeit a small portion, the chips were greasy and overcooked. However, the chicken, ham and leek pie was very disappointing. The filling was warm but bland, but the puff pastry lid was cold, very pale and tasted stale. It disintegrated on the plate when I tried to cut it. Clearly this had been made some time in advance of our visit. The vegetables served with the pie were good. The gardens were pleasant and the staff were polite. Overall this was a disappointing meal especially as The Inn was recommended to us.

My husband and I stayed here for a 2 day break. From when we arrive until we left the staff were happy helpful and professional. The food is excellent; if we lived closer we would visit just for the food. We stayed in a ‘Lodge superior king’ with balcony. The room was small but cosy. (Sleeps 3 ?) The bed was very comfortable. On a personal note, it is a shame the the balcony isn’t covered. We had rain one day and was unable to travel far. Had the balcony been covered we could have sat outside and enjoyed the view. The back door through to the breakfast dining room was locked. My husband is disabled so for him it was a long walk from the lodge especially when we had to go all of the way around through to the main entrance. All in all a pleasant stay.

Arrived after visiting the fountain abbey,no reception but the staff very helpful and polite even carried cases to our room. The room was well equipped and decor was pleasing. It was nice to find decent coffee and tea and bottled water, plenty of towels and soap shampoo etc even had face flannels. This is the first hotel inn that supply a gun locker. We went down for dinner and found a table very quickly, menu contained lots of fresh prepared food items , both meals arrived hot and we’ll presented. As an ex chef I have quite high expectations of food. I have could not find fault and really enjoyed the food and recommend it. The breakfast was yet again freshly cooked and well presented . The only down side that for some reason the management only had one waitress on and the inn had a full house for breakfast,she tried her best but one or two customers complaining about items running out and wait for service , which was a pity as we really enjoyed our stay . The car parking was ample but be aware of weddings at the inn

We arrived around 15:30 hrs and found the restaurant fairly quiet with only a handful of tables occupied. The appearance was nice and the reviews seemed okay. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t a positive one.We were left fairly awkwardly waiting to be seated and not really knowing where to go, after finally being acknowledged by the bar staff we were told to find another member of staff who was dealing with another family. Once we were eventually seated, the waiter came over to take our order, no notepad and had to take our drinks order twice as he didn’t get it right first time.There were five in our party and three of the drinks were Cokes, so this didn’t fill me with confidence. The menu had a good selection of dishes, with some interesting sounding vegetarian options and the prices were reasonable if the quality can be improved to match the expectations. Drinks arrived, cup of tea with no sugar, milk or a spoon, I had to go and ask at the bar, who after a couple of minutes brought over milk and sugar but no spoon, I gave up waiting and had to use the cutlery on the table to stir the tea.Upon giving the food order to the same member of staff, he again didn’t seem particularly interested and tried to remember our order rather than using a pad.We ordered a Rump steak, a Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Dinner and children’s Chicken Goujons with Fries.The wait was about thirty minutes, which we were surprised at given the number if people in the restaurant.We actually received a burnt cheeseburger (photo attached and doesn’t entirely convey the level of burnt patty and bun that we received) and the remainder of our order was correct.So burnt burger aside, the onion rings were limp and tasteless, admittedly the fries were okay.The Chicken Pot Pie was okay aside from the pound coin sizes lumps of very raw garlic, and the whole dish was just rather dry. The seasonal green veg was nice, and the Chicken Dinner was just okay.The children’s Chicken Goujons was actually an anaemic chicken breast with a small side of fries and an overwhelming amount of peas.We had to ask twice for condiments, which eventually arrived, at no point during the meal were we asked if the meal was okay or if we wanted any more drinks or desert.We were on our way to a local attraction so I grew tired of waiting for the bill or the table to be cleared. I had to go to the bar to prompt this, and when I finally got this I voiced my complaint the waiter was dismissive and said that I would have to talk to a manager, who didn’t appear so I again attended the bar.When I finally did speak with the manager, I found her friendly, professional and the only member of staff who seemed to care about customer service. She listened to my feedback and was empathetic, doing her best to try and resolve our poor experience despite our negative feedback.Keep her as she was really the only glimmer of positivity in an otherwise disappointing experience.We were partially credited for the meals that we were not happy with and went on our way. This was an opportune visit as we were passing and the place looked well kept and nicely lit on the outside, I wouldn’t return and eat here again.There was a lovely double sided stove with some high backed armchairs either side adjacent to our table, which looked cosy and inviting to sit and share a drink, and the overall restaurant appearance was nice and so it I am actually really disappointed to leave such a bad review.The restaurant is dog friendly, which was pleasant and is in a good location with ample parking and a lot of potential, just let down by mediocre service and cuisine.The toilets were closed for refurbishment and a key had to be obtained to use the disabled loo, the key had to be obtained from another table who has used the loo previously. I have since found out that this is one of the seafood pub company properties, which we are fairly regular and loyal customers of. Thus I am really surprised and disappointed at this experience as this isn’t in keeping with the high standards we have come to expect from them, and what ordinarily would have attracted us to try this place out.

The Inn at South Stainley is very welcoming especially at this time of year. There are two roaring fires and comfortable seats. We were served by Chloe who was very helpful, professional and polite and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.We all chose a festive lunch of roast chicken breast with all the traditional trimmings, it was freshly cooked and served piping hot. Altogether a very pleasant experience, thank you.

One of my friends pre-booked for us to have Christmas lunch together. Had a hiccup on arrival but that was politely & quickly sorted by the manager. Lovely man! We ordered off the Festive menu which had a set menu with a choice of 1, 2 or 3 courses. Lovely selection of starters, mains & desserts. We were spoiled for choice but chose the delicious salmon fish & the roast chicken. Portion size was perfect & We were pleasantly full. Both of my courses were delicious & my friends were happy with their choices too. Service was very polite & very professional. No complaints for us! For me it was worth the drive to & would happily pay a visit again in the not to distant future.

Stayed here for both dinner, and bed & breakfast. Newly(ish) renovated. Stylish, modern but rustic deco. Fantastic spaces to eat and sleep. Accommodation was super comfortable and Food was delicious. Only (very minor) criticism is that the burger and fries plate needed a garnish or salad. Highly recommend.

My first time visit and won't be my last, came with some friends I had the haddock starter and Parisian chicken as main course, it was gorgeous so tasty, was made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived ,staff very attentive and nice warm atmosphere. Excellent will be returning

Visited with elderly parents on Sat 24th August, upon arrival the pub was almost empty & a member of staff was keen to usher us to a table next to another couple, but we sat opposite the bar as it was lighter, the staff need a lot more supervision as they just weren’t interested, too busy chatting amongst themselves, though there was a noticeable change when an older guy appeared & they all scattered like rabbits in headlights, one female staff member came for the order but didn’t take a drinks one, I needed to go to the bar, then she came back to say my fathers first option wasn’t available so needed to select something else, if you’ve run out of a meal why not say so at the point of ordering?

Found this by chance whilst searching the net. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful without the hassle. Room was modern, clean well presented. Food was tasty and portions were very generous. If staying in the area again we will definitely stay here.

Went to Ripon races and wanted breakfast for 27 people....booked the inn at south stainley....everything was great from start to finish....food and service were excellent...thanks to Hayley, Dylan and Andrew...

The staff, some of whom weren't even on duty and waiting for their ride home when I arrived, were very friendly and polite. The room was just great - very nice decor, very comfortable, great bed, and terrific bathroom with very good pressure in the shower. Everything was clean, spotless, and sparkling where it could be. The restaurant was very good. Great service by Chantel, and great food. Highly recommended.

We stayed at The Inn on Sunday 15th September. Our room was pleasant, clean and in a great location. We had our own balcony area with impressive views. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal and breakfast which were cooked to perfection. We will definitely stay here again.

We decided to drop in for Sunday lunch on our way back home to Harrogate and this was the first time we’d been. We both had the 2 course set menu. Starters were ok.

Visited on Tuesday lunchtime after bank holiday Monday. After choosing food, I was told that neither the starter or main meal were available. Would have been better to be told which items were out of stock when receiving the menu. My wife ordered a fish finger sandwich..we received a fish goujon sandwich..maybe this is how it is made at the Inn..the food was ok but not a great experience ..we also received the food and had to request cutlery..

Stopped off here for lunch on our way to Whitby, the lunch was excellent with one or two different things on the menu. Although not cheap we really enjoyed our time there.

I visit this restaurant regularly and the food is always good and the service excellent. The desserts are a bit overpriced but nevertheless delicious. Worth a visit in my opinion

Cannot fault this place at all. All the staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was really excellent. The room was immaculate and very well designed with nice decor. 5 stars and thank you all very much. Would most definitely go back again. Great selection to temp you and cooked to perfection. Not so good if you are trying to diet. Still you only live once!

Pub grub is underplaying the quality. Really nice bar, great menu with fabulous food and staff all very friendly (despite being busy).

ood Evening. I would just like to say what an amazing time we had on saturday night at our wedding annisversary party. You and your staff were spot on, there when we needed something and left us alone to get on with our night. The food went down a treat and the room was just perfect.
