First time in London at an Indian restaurant; very pleasant surprise!! Highly recommended!!

Tucked away hidden gem in the city centre. Great atmosphere and delicious traditional food. Shoutout to Ali for his amazing service and the free shots! :)

Really enjoyed this delicious dinner at The India. A surprisingly cosy enclave in the heart of the city with wonderful food and a very pleasant ambience.

It was just the best Indian cuisine I have ever eaten!

I usually love this place and have been many times. The food as always was excellent. However massively disappointed tonight as the staff were trying to usher us out (told us they were busy and wanted the table back) after less than an hour. Absolutely gobsmacked, we weren't the only table this happened to. Sadly I can't see myself going back after this experience. Update: Owners had been in touch and have resolved in an extremely positive way. All is forgiven and my latest visit was 5 stars all-round.

Sam provided excellent service, offering great recommendations and making sure everything was just right. The food was rich in authentic Indian flavors, with perfectly balanced spices. The biryani was fragrant, the curries were flavorful, and the naan was soft and fresh. A great spot for Indian food in London.

Fabulous place to get food! I had been walking past and stopped with my girlfriend for a special meal and every dish was just delicious. The setting in the downstairs is also great. Staff were all fantastic specifically thanks to mr salim and mr ali they are too good 👍 . I can’t wait to go again .

Beautifully tucked away in the heart of the city! Perfect for a mid week meal with colleagues or friends serving authentic Indian curries, naan and rice. My only qualm is that the lighting was so dim that I felt sleepy at times during the meal. Other than that, it was a wonderful dinner experience with good service. I’ll be back! Get your crew together for this Indian feast & thank me later x

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times now. The food is lovely. However, the service lets it down. I asked multiple times for a jug of water for the table for everyone. The waiter frowned and said I’ll bring a glass each. This meant that we were constantly having to ask for a refill which was difficult to get their attention (considering there are a lot of waiters)!This is why we wanted the jug in the first place so we wouldn’t have to keep asking! This wasn’t the first time this has happened either which is why I’m leaving a review. As the restaurant is located in a basement it was extremely hot and to the point of being uncomfortable. Nice food but service could be better.

Best Indian restaurant in London no doubt! They have great set menus. Everyone has a good sense of humor and atmosphere is amazing. I bring everyone who visits me in London to this restaurant.

The food was very tasty and original - the mix of spices was different than what I am used to, but in a good and refreshing way. There were some small hickups (noone mentioned the long waiting time caused by ramadan and the toilet was inaccessible for some time), but nothing really impacting the overall good experience.

Very nice place, amazing food and the waiter Sam was very friendly. Enjoyed our time here and would definitely come again.

Disappointing. Ordered the lamb shank which was great last time but this time was tough and could have done with an extra couple of hours in the oven. Not sure I’ll be coming back

Even though I arrived at 10.15pm on Sunday evening, I was welcomed in a friendly manner. Rich choice of dishes, the ones I ordered were of excellent quality. Quick and friendly service

Ali was super helpful and attentive for the duration of our evening. He suggested the chicken bhuna after being unsure of what to order. Chicken bhuna was so full of flavour absolutely loved it. We were very well looked after and atmosphere was cosy. Looking forward to coming back for another date night :)

Great food, fantastic service (cheers Ali) and all round lovely atmosphere. My girlfriend tried her first Bhuna as recommended and it’s now her ‘favourite’ so I’m told! Definitely coming back.

Always a great meal at The India: certainly the best of the city. Food is consistently very good here — I highly recommend their lamb madras and the Set Menu 1 — and the service is exceptional. Thank you to Ali and the team for a great evening.

Came for my husbands birthday . The restaurant was very nicely decorated warm and cosy with great furnishings. The staff were very nice and attentive. Very clean staff are very smart and friendly. The food was wonderful I only drank Pepsi but felt drunk from the food. We shared a platter for starter which was beautiful and filling. We had mains and could barely move. A great find in the City. Charming and quiet street convenient for locals and tourists alike — only a stones throw from St Paul’s and the Thames, and right between two main Tube stops. Entrance to a historic building and then downstairs to an equally historic space which variously served as wine cellar and bunker. Delightful space, light filled, intimate and atmospheric yet not cramped. Friendly service and many successes on the large menu, and the dosas and parathas are fresh and deliciously chewy as they should be. Highly recommended.

Visited on a quiet weekend afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The menu is huge. It was difficult to choose but we settled on the Nawabi lamb shank and Bombay blast chicken along with pilaou rice and naan. Food came well presented, and both dishes were delicious. The price didn't feel justified, a little too pricey for the quantity and quality, but it was still worth trying. Definitely worth visiting!

The ambiance and hospitality of the restaurant is so inviting. All staff ensured that we were comfortable and satisfied giving an honest opinion of selective dishes. We will definitely be back although we live out of the area . This will be our regular.

This is best Indian in London. The service is great, the staff can’t do enough to help. The restaurant is always rammed but you never feel on top of other patrons. My waiter Ali was really friendly and the food came quickly. Every time I’m in London I always make a stop here no matter where I’m staying!!
