My wife and I were in London on vacation and one of my bucklist items was to have chicken, rice and curry at a good restaurant. Curry was highly recommended by our tour guide and he was spot on. We were greeted at the door ,seated at our table and Arbindra was our waiter. He presented us with drink and appetizer suggestions and delevered our exquisite meal. It was exactly what I was looking for and our best meal and food experience on our 5 day trip to London.

We, a group of three, had a uniquely superb dinner at the Curry Room. The “room” itself is magically beautiful, a work of attention to details by the Rubens hotel team. The classic white porcelain dinnerware is uniquely aesthetic, complemented by the beautiful traditional crockery set of the Thali metallic base plate and bowls. Beautiful classic table lamps added to the ambiance. The noticeable attention to every detail in this magical room made the whole experience feel royal in the positive sense of the term. Mohan led the outstandingly attentive and warm service, with the help of Krishna. We learned that Mohan is another name for the supreme Indian god Krishna. Both were nice and warm, serving us with love. Mohan even guided us on how to eat the food, holding the naan in our hands as traditionally done in India. The superb pre-appetizer - papadum with raita and chutneys - set the tone for high expectations. The first bite of our yellow dal and the beautiful lamb kebabs appetizers revealed deeply fantastic taste nuances that we, Indian food lovers, had never experienced before. A golden dal from another league, perhaps on the level served to Krishna to make him happy. We planned to order more dal but were fortunate to have it as a default addition to the thali curry collection of vegetable korma, prawns curry, and fish curry and tofu curry. We also ordered main dish of chicken in butter curry. The tastes of these curries were out of this world. As Mohan recommended, we ate the thali selection from left to right as tastes develop from mild to stronger. The first was the yellow dal. Although we memorized its taste as an appetizer, it was another wow. So, we had left-to-right repetitive ritual of eating these divine curries with the basmati rice on the base plate. The unique quality of the spices mix used by the chef, generated a rare spectrum of superb tastes experience. The top quality and freshness of the ingredients were clearly noticeable. Best prawns and fish curries ever. The fish quality and freshness were exceptional. The butter curry chicken was the best ever. We were chanting our enjoyment and did not want this ritual to end. It ended gracefully with our happiness level elevated after each round. For dessert Mohan recommended the Gulab Jamun classic. We trusted his recommendation without looking at the menu. When the dark balls arrived at the table, lying in a white sauce, it was so beautifully served that we almost did not want to destroy it. First bite, another wow. Never had it so good. We were so happy that the chef behind this magical meal, Arun Kumar, approached our table to ask if we enjoyed the food because we wanted to thank him personally. We almost hugged him. We chatted with him and thanked him. As revealed by his food, his main satisfaction is to make his guests happy. He fully succeeded in our case and it maid him happy. What can be a better experience in a restaurant?

Visited with my daughter last weekend and had the most amazing experience. The food was fantastic and the recommendations by Mohan were sublime. I upgraded to the chefs special tasting curries and had the prawn, butter chicken and beef vindaloo which absolutely sang in my mouth. I probably picked the wrong desert in the ginger and orange creme brulee rice pudding but would have the pistachio pudding next time. Which, there definitely will be. I thoroughly recommend the food, ambience and whole experience!

We returned twice during our stay in London. We tried almost every curry dish on the menu and they were all delicious. The cost is somewhat high but the portions, flavor and quality of the food are worth it. The two waiters who touched us; (I only remember Mohan's name) they were fantastic, super friendly, helpful and warm. The first time there was a delay in bringing us the main dishes but they gave us a complimentary dessert to compensate. The atmosphere is calm, ideal for conversation.

We ate at the Curry following a show because we wanted some good Indian food! This place was delicious and the service fantastic. When you are seated they inquire as to whether your service needs to be hurried or if you have the e ending open to dine. We ordered their “Set Menu” which is one dish from the pre-entree, entree, and dessert. The prawn curry was our favorite! It was similar in flavor profile from a red curry dish we’d had in Thailand. The depth of flavor in that dish was stunning! I absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and want a fine dining experience. Be advised that you will need to make a reservation.

My husband I came here with our 8 month old daughter. While we’ve taken the baby on nice dinners out before without issue, this particular dinner she was incredibly difficult. Having wanted to visit the Curry Room on our visit to London we decided to try to power through the dinner as planned. The food was amazing, absolutely 1000x worth the visit for the food itself. But the staff and service really stole the show. They were all so accommodating to us having a fussy baby. They ensured our food arrived quickly, and treated our baby like she was just as important of a guest as us adults. One of the waiters even went out and got her a teddy bear. We look forward to coming back when our little one is a little older so that we can enjoy the atmosphere a bit better. It is absolutely stunning in there. No photos online will do it justice. So book yourself the dinner, go for the wine flight, get the multi course options and enjoy! You will not be disappointed!

The food in general was really yummy, samosa starters were lovely, curry’s, naan bread, rice etc in were all very good, but not spectacular. The lamb curry whilst delicious, was overly chewy which whilst I can totally get on board with some bite, we all know the best lamb curry’s are cooked with a little bit more care. Rubén’s hotel need to ensure the lift for this restaurant is fixed as we struggled a little with our pram. Service here was very good, they really took care of us and our little one which we really appreciated. I really do wish however that restaurants, (especially restaurants that aren’t cheap and are more high end), would invest in better high chairs - I cannot explain how frustrating it is for parents to go to a nice restaurant where we are likely (almost certain) to spend £200-£250 on food and drink, but to greeted with an old, highly uncomfortable wooden high chair with absolutely zero comfort and no tray table attached for them to eat on - anyone who has ever had a little one will testify that this can easily spoil a great dinner if your child is not happy/comfy. 4/5

We visited as a Christmas treat. Initially I had booked the English Grill in the hotel but my booking was cancelled and I was offered the Curry Room. We all enjoyed our meal, the food and drink was delicious and service great and attentive. The reason for the 4 rather than a 5 is the addition of 15% service charge on the bill. We like to choose our tip and when your bill is already nearly £400 (which is not a complaint) its actually a bit disappointing to have another £60 added without a choice.

Wouldn’t suggest this place if you’re looking for an authentic Indian cuisine experience. We had a really underwhelming experience for Christmas dinner. Definitely overpriced for the quality of food being provided. In terms of service, we had two servers tend to us. Mohan was really kind but the other server who I failed to get the name of was pretty condescending. This server scoffed when we asked if wine was included in their Christmas dinner, he was also really dismissive of the fact that we were charged twice which we just needed time to confirm with the bank. Servers like these leave a bad lasting impression and you wouldn’t ever want to come back to this place again.

Unfortunately the food was a real let down. Beautiful setting and great staff (although they did leave us sitting wondering where they had gone a number of times as we looked to order or get more water)but the food was just bang average. For a £75pp three course menu we were expecting a lot but just very little of interest, little depth of flavour and really underwhelming. Lamb kebab starter was fine but just sort of buttery and not really meaty. The fish curry was again fine. The lamb curry was nicely flavoured but chewy. The Gulab jamun desert was delicious and the highlight. The cheesecake (which the waiter basically insisted we have) was a good cheesecake - why a pretty standard slice of New York style cheesecake is the special here I don’t know?! We felt it could have been really elevated with inclusion of Indian flavours/spices to make it something unique…but was just cheesecake with strawberries. For way less money you can eat way better Indian food in London. I am serious when I say I have had more satisfying meals from some take aways. Get yourself along to Dishoom for example, or Tayabbs in Whitechapel for way better food.

Ate here with high expectations looking at the prices charged, but left feeling severely wanting. The food here was perfectly acceptable but priced as an ultra high end restaurant. Whilst the food was ok, it’s only the same as you’d get at a nice Indian locally for a third of the cost. To give some context you’ll pay £16 for a bottle of Cobra when you’ve added on the greedy 15% service charge. If you like a curry, eat at 3 different Indians in Brick Lane rather than one meal here. Overrated

If you ever have the chance to dine here, grab it with both hands! We had a wonderful Saturday evening here recently, starting with drinks upstairs in the New York bar. They not only provided superb service but some top quality entertainment in the form of a singer, who was fantastic. We then went down to the restaurant and enjoyed some of the most delicious food we have ever tried. I have an allergy to nuts and nutmeg (which can be tricky when dealing with curry) but their attention to detail to make sure I was kept safe was admirable. I think it was Mohan(?) who looked after us and he could not have done more for us, even the chef came out to check with everyone that the food was ok. All in all an unforgettable experience and one we will remember for a long time ❤️❤️

This place just happened to be down the street from where were staying and also just happened to be the best meal of our trip and best traditional Indian food I've ever had. We were guests at the hotel The Ruben. We were searching for an allergy friendly indian restaurant for our teenage son who has nut, sesame, peas, chickpeas allergies. Most Indian food has nuts paste in the curries and had very limited menu options. The manager Mohan personally came to us and eased our concerns and provided us with several options. He closely discussed with the chef and kitchen and was able to make Lamb Curry for my son which we absolutely loved. He and the kitchen staff were absolutely lovely treating us like their own. Attentive staff, but the curries and plain naan is lacking in depth and flavor. For traditional Indian Cuisine, they miss the mark and don’t serve Lassis. It has a prix fixe menu with limited options, the meats are not marinated nor grilled in tandoori ovens, just added to the different curry sauces. We tried 4 different curries, Traditional Lamb, Butter Chicken, Chicken and Prawn, and lastly the Vegetable Pakora which has the best flavor profile. We have been eating traditional Indian for 30 years, and sadly we were all disappointed with the high ranking of The Curry Room.

The menu offered a tantalising choice of curries and offers you a starter, main and desert. The food was simply stunning. The portions were generous, and all of the different flavours complemented each other perfectly. For starters we had lamb samosas to start and they were absolutely delicious. For mains, I opted for the prawn curry, rich, with perfect delectable notes. For dessert, I chose the chocolate mousse, which was almost too good to be true! Rich and creamy, with a cute crunch sweetness to make it truly indulgent. Overall, my experience at the Curry Room by The Rubens at the Palace was simply superb. Great service, food and atmosphere! When in London again, I plan to go back! Conveniently located near the Victoria train station too!

here with a friend for a weekend celebration and had the most amazing dinner. We chose the 3 different dishes for a real variety of tasting an authentic curry. Every dish was perfection, the pudding was superb and the service was impeccable. Our compliments to the chef. We will definitely be coming back here. Loved the whole experience.

Wasn’t sure if this restaurant was up our street. As the hotel decor felt very dated However, the restaurant service was brilliant and the chef came and spoke to us what we liked in heat, flavours, etc. The food was spot on and good size portions. Well done to the team!

We begged for reservations, popular as it seems with tourists. Overpriced (85/person plus), bland dishes. Hardly any curry flavor, lacked heat despite request. The prix fixe menu looked good on paper but not on palate. Most disappointing meal of the trip. Funny, the curry in...

We enjoyed delicious dinner at The Curry Room. Our server, Mohan, was outstanding and the food was not disappointing. We had the three course meal and enjoyed kerala prawn, beef vindaloo and butter chicken each seasoned exceptionally. My dessert choice was was rice pudding brûlée with ginger. Delightful! Excellent service. Recommend!

The food was amazing but the service was even better. We had the butter chicken and lamb curry with wine pairings which were perfect. We both wanted butter chicken and the staff gently encouraged us to try the lamb curry and share and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend!!

We really enjoyed our whole experience at this restaurant. All 3 courses were really delicious and as we were there celebrating a few things, we were gifted with a small, beautifully decorated cake, which was greatly appreciated. We were served by Mohan and his team, who were all very professional but also warm and attentive. The chef personally came to each table and was both very passionate about his food and also interested in his guests, which was a very nice touch.

A wonderful evening, delightfully orchestrated as ever by Mohan. Our guest chose the Thali (three dishes) of fish, prawn and lamb, which he said was superb. We chose our old favourite, Lamb Natal at vindaloo heat, which is spicy and flavourful, not blow-your-head-off so you...

We arranged an early dinner. We were not greeted even though we had booked. A younger gentleman, not dressed in uniform He seemed to act as though he was above that., He delivered food with irritation and on payment. He rolled his eyes because my car briefly tapped in the wrong place. We were made to feel very unwelcome and the food with mediocre at best. I will not recommend this restaurant. Even though its location is very convenient and after business dinner

Superb food and friendly staff, some of whom feel like family. We've been going for years and it's our go-to, always incredible dine-in/takeaway. We"re blessed that this gem of a restaurant is part of our community. Make it part of yours, too!

Absolut gutes indisches Essen.
