No where to sit good if you're a teenager though.

Be careful. Don't spend £35 on a ticket to the farewell party this weekend. The owners will probably close the place down on Friday and keep your money. My partner and I were due to hold our wedding reception here in September and found out about the closure through social media. We still haven't heard a dicky bird from the owners regarding the refund of our deposit.

Visited for the first time yesterday. Food was shocking unfortunately and excessively priced for what it was. They also had barely any of the dishes on the menu so we were limited to a small choice. This may be because it was said to us that the restaurant is closing down - not sure if there is any truth in that or not? The venue was lovely however with a lovely atmosphere and decor was great. All in all, would be far better as just a bar rather than a restaurant.

A fantastic individual, unique bar with delicious food. Staff are extremely helpful and all around a gem of a place to enjoy tunes with friends. Highly recommend

The only thing going for the restaurant is the decor, the Sunday roast is the worst we have ever had. The lamb wasn’t slices of lamb but chopped small and stuck together in a cylinder shape. The potatoes & carrots were still hard. Staff were smoking and leaving the door open whilst we were there. I now understand why it was so quiet on what should have been a busy bank holiday weekend.

Friendly staff and lovely service. Tea piping hot and huge tea cake. Lovely venue. Clean and beautiful homemade cakes etc on offer. Dog friendly too.

Went with the family to celebrate a surprise birthday, with 17 family members. The whole service was outstanding, with excellent food, cocktails and attention from the restaurant team. A nice touch with the 'Birthday' cheesecake for the birthday girl too. Outstanding place, really highly recommended.

Upon arrival we were shown to our table by the exceptionally friendly Stephen. From the moment we all sat down the service was incredible. Our drinks order was taken immediately by Stephen and brought to our table in no time at all while we all decided on what to eat. Our meals were delicious 😋 and Stephen was very attentive throughout. The decor of this restaurant is beautiful and instragram worthy with its blossom tree decor. I cannot recommend this place enough and a very special mention to Stephen and his wonderful staff who made our visit a very special one. Thank you all very much

We had a wonderful lunch the food was amazing and the staff especially Ivan who looked after us was amazing! The carpaccio starter was better than in Italy!

Great food and ambience attentive staff lovely evening

Family of 6 for Easter Sunday lunch. Spent most of the time having to ask for service, either to order, clear table or get the bill. Food was nice but not really worth the price. Kids roast was a good size but came on the smallest plate ever which meant it kept going onto the table. I’m aware most kids don’t want vegetables with their meals, but some do, if only to make more of the meal. Disappointing as the burger and chips, came with 8 chips a bun and a burger. Overall wouldn’t bother again, even when not busy the service was slow despite having plenty of staff on. Best just to stick to drinks.

Like another customer, I like my food and expect more than 3 roast potatoes and not pay extra for veg. So back to toby .

I went to this restaurant 2 weeks ago. The food was average (mostly lukewarm and undercooked) and the service was very slow even though the restaurant was not busy at all. The food was also overpriced, notwithstanding the low quality of the plates we tried. Overall, we had a terrible experience. Most of us did not finish our food and had to send one burger back as it was practically raw. Two of the desserts were also not properly heated up (they had not been defrosted properly) and we had to send these back too. On top of this, one of the waiters spilled cream all over my suede jacket while he was taking the plates away and did not even realise. We had to chase him to let him know what happened and when he was informed he didn’t even apologise or offer help. I have since then contacted the restaurant to request compensation for the cost of the dry cleaning bill (which is significant given the delicate material of the jacket) but they have not provided any satisfactory answer and have not accepted their responsibility for the waiter’s negligence. I am extremely disappointed and will never return. I urge others to avoid this restaurant.

We went here after dinner for a final drink before heading home. It was so good that we stayed longer and had several drinks each. All in all a very nice, buzzy venue with excellent cocktails and great staff. We didn't have any food but next time. we;ll try that as well.

Disappointing experience considering how expensive the bill was.

We had a wonderful brunch here on 03/02 and it was just perfect. Our server Imo/Ito was amazing, lovely, friendly and very attentive. Apologies if I've forgotten his name. Our glasses were never empty. The 3 course meal was just perfect. I had the seabass and he had the burger. The restaurant is pretty with a lovely ambience and we can't wait to return.

Some of the food was good, some was a miss. Staff weren't very helpful when some of the order was wrong.

Staff were great and very friendly. But glasses on the table were dusty and dirty. The restaurant was very quiet for a Friday night. Food was cold when it came out and took a very very long time.

We had an okay evening at the Hummingbird. The setting is lovely and cocktails in the bar before were great especially with the 2 for 1 offer. However when we went to the restaurant, they still gave us the December menu and half of it was no longer being served or was not available that day. They told us they were out of salmon, then we saw the table next to us receive it when they ordered after us. The mains took an hour to come after the starter, I think they forgot about us? Surprising given the restaurant was very empty. And the food itself was fine but nothing special. Chocolate dessert didn’t really taste of much. Wouldn’t return in a hurry.

Great birthday lunch with my wife, food was great with excellent service from Ivo and Steve. Would definitely recommend.

A very disappointing visit, we booked an afternoon tea, but after two small cups of tea, you have to pay for drinks is a tea bag so valuable that it is not included in £35. The waiter was over familiar. The food was disappointing, the scones were supermarket and the patisserie selection was not inspiring. I also find a service charge rude, I think I should elect to pay a tip.

Had Christmas Dinner. Food either under or overcooked. £89 per head plus drinks came to £111 per head.

Beautiful venue (great vibes), delicious food and fairly reasonable prices. Staff were wonderful too - really friendly but just needed more of them!

I organised my work Christmas party at the Hummingbird. We chose the champagne and canapés - and it was a huge success! Charlotte was fabulous in arranging it for me and on the night we were looked after very well by Steve. The food was delicious and the hour of champagne, plentiful! The area we were given was relaxing and comfortable and made for a really social event full of fun and laughter… much better than sitting round a big table! Great night … thanks guys!

Delicious Sunday Roast. Lovely service

Getting together with friends before Xmas. Had a wonderful meal. 3 courses. Reasonably priced.Jazz pianist and singer. Atmosphere was great. Service excellent, as were the cocktails. Will be returning. Highly recommend.

Really mixed experience.. The host and initial greeting was great, the restaurant is beautiful and the singer on the piano was so talented! Wish the mic was up higher as really hard to hear her amazing voice! Unfortunately we sat for 20minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, and then they brought over the champagne that came with the Christmas party menu. I explained when I booked that one of our party does not drink alcohol, and was advised there was a non alcoholic version for £39. I also explained this when they brought the champagne over but they put the extra glass of champagne down anyway and said ‘someone else can drink it’ We discovered at the end we had then be charged the full price for the alcoholic version for her which was very disappointing! Could hardly argue though as we had technically had it. The service was so hit and miss… a lot of different staff were involved and some were great, others were awful! We had to ask twice for basic things… knives for a cheeseboard, lime for a drink. It was very frustrating! The food however was good so mostly made up for what the service lacked, once we got everything we asked for The jazz band were brilliant but came on a little late as we were mostly done with our meals by 10pm Overall I wonder if maybe just a one off due to busy Xmas party night and probably temporary Christmas staff… Won’t be booking a Christmas party again but maybe the quality of food will tempt me into returning again when it’s not so busy!

Absolutely on point love the slightly eccentric owner great front of house food was lovely great vibe fairly expensive but you get what you pay for!

Really nice place and I will return. The food was good we were the first to try the festive menu and a couple of items were missing but if they were the biggest issues then all is well. The staff are genuinely excited by their job which is great to see. The bar manager has Avery nicely curated list of cocktails. They make their own bitters etc. The smoked old fashioned is very good. Give it a try The restaurant itself is very pretty and well worth a visit either for a drink or food. I put the atmosphere at 3 stars because it wasnt very busy but our booking was a 6:30. It'll probably have a nice relaxed vibe once more people fill the venue. Is dog friendly but only at certain time so call to check

We had the bottomless lunch - great choice of food options, far better than most other bottomless brunches. All of the food we had was delicious. Special mention to Ivan who provided wonderful service - professional yet friendly, always checking in and had a brilliant knowledge of the menu with some great suggestions for us! We had a great time and will certainly return.

We had a very pleasant afternoon, the food and the setting were excellent, the staff were friendly and accommodating however the service was a little slow and we were disappointed that it was jazz afternoon tea but there was no jazz.

Family meal out for lunch. Absolutely loved the firecracker chicken with chips. Kids had crab linguine and a couple of starters which were also excellent. Very nice decor and lovely waitress. I will be back.

Lovely place that's about it. Music too loud can't hear yourself speak. Not a good choice of food, small portions, I had the cod really greasy, fan potato was wet and horrible. It's ok. The food was alright although it could do with more flavour/seasoning. If you're in a hurry it's a great place but if you want a nice night out they are extremely fast. We had two courses and were gone in less than 40 minutes which was a bit of a shame for our nice date night out

Came here for a Sunday roast, on a recommendation. I was disappointed with the portion size, and felt that the Gravy was quite watery. However, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. It was lovely to have a live singer/pianist playing in the background.

A birthday party organised by my family and 85th birthday. Where to go? The hummingbird. Good choice, smart surroundings, pleasant staff, and at last. A good English roast.

Amazing decor. Thats it. Terribly small and expensive plates of food. We had three courses and all of us were still really hungry when we left. The most important thing to note is that the manager with the white hair and silly curling moustache is one of the rudest people you'll ever meet. Both on the phone and in person. He came over to and put dirty glasses on our table whilst we were eating and thinks he's a comedian. I wouldn't recommend this place. Really slow service, especially as it wasn't that busy. We kept asking for drinks and starters rather than the waiting staff coming over. There's much better eateries in Hertford to go to.
