Nice pub good selection of wines.

Literally just had one of the best 8oz rump steak surf and turfs. Absolute quality and sat watching the snooker, great place, beer and food a1.

This is our normal stop when visiting South Yorkshire Football Clubs following Oxford United. Always find it welcoming. The beer is good and the staff friendly.

Ridiculous called in for a drink Saturday night 3 staff faffing around till got served took ages to pay due to said staff ,mean while bell was rung for what I expected was last order's, we paid sat down within mins was told we had to drink up due to it closing it was only 5 past 11. There were a few other people in drank our drinks quickly to leave. One man came over to me complaining about having to drink up quickly . We left came back 45 minutes later to get a taxi near the pub, noticing people in their drinking .wow, never will we go in there again.

Staff member called Luke was really welcoming as soon as we came in for some drinks after a gig at the leadmill. He also went absolutely above and beyond to help me to get some feminine hygiene products really discreetly that I needed unexpectedly! Don't usually come here - but will definitely make a point to be back when nearby for future gigs

Can't comment on food, as we didn't eat. But the service was lovely. The team are so nice and professional, one member of our group needed a feline hygiene product and had no money for the toilet dispenser, and the team checked in the back and then very discreetly asked the table if we sill needed one..the type of service all pubs should arrive for 💛 Drinks were great, good advice for a new drink id not had. Nice and clean too 💛 much love to luke

We came to Sheffield for an appointment by train. Our first stop as we were desperate for a soft drink was The Howard as it is the first pub outside of the train station. Straight away the staff were very welcoming and the pub is immaculately clean. The landlady came and spoke to us as she recognised our accent and was extremely nice. After our appointment we came straight back while we waited for our train back and ordered food which was delicious, value for money and quick service. We stayed for a few drinks until our train was due, we tried a range of lagers which the staff recommend and and my husband also had a Guinness, all drinks were reasonably priced and enjoyed. I cannot fault it at all, an extremely welcoming pub, excellent food and drink and amazing staff. Thank you and see you,

Had a really nice time. The bar is more laid back and the music is not too loud so you can have a nice chat with decently priced drinks. The only issue is that the women's toilets are extremely moldy which is unsafe and disgusting.

Decent pub across the way from the train station. Had a good atmosphere to this place and was easy to get served. Was busy but managed to get seats on a shared table, which added to the atmosphere and the vibe as you could interact with other groups of people. Pints standard price.

This has been my stop in before heading to the train for the past week and a half that I’ve been in Sheffield. Food is great, service wonderful and nice environment even when I’m traveling solo! Thank you to all at The Howard!

Out for drinks with the family, made mistake of putting drinks on my sons table, drinks snatched by bar staff because they thought they were my sons, absolute cretins, not be back in a hurry

Hot food arrived on a cold plate. Not good. Long time to wait for food - did get apology from server. Nice atmosphere, nice seating area in railway carriage booth.

Always enjoy this place. Just across from main train station. Easy for tram to Hillsborough & walking distance to Bramall lane. Good selection of real ales, they don't seem to mind away fans even in colour's.

Made me look very little, said me learn permanent was fake, and said the photo on my ID looked nothing like me. So me and my family moved on to another pub and I won't be going back there again

called for a drink plastic glasses service shocking was asked to leave paid over £10 for 2 drinks never go again been before been in proper glass pots

A horrific place. The service of a particular member of staff who was young with glasses who claimed to be the manager refused to serve my party because someone was “too drunk” after we just arrived and bought 2 drinks and were sat quietly at a table discussing work. Never experienced this before and I won’t be going back or recommended to anyone in the future

Met with friends for lunch. Service charming and helpful, but the food a bit stodgy. We shared mozzarella bites and cauliflower wings, which were freshly cooked and light. I then had the chicken and mushroom pie; and 2 of my friends had the cheese and leek pie. The pastry was rather wet and soft. But we all had a good time

My wife and I stopped off at the Howard while waiting for our train. The service was great and we really enjoyed the loaded fries. The ambience, seating and music was very enjoyable as well. Highly recommend and we'll definitely drop back in next time we're in Sheffield.

The Howard, is a great city centre pub, great choice of drinks and food. Extensive menu should keep everyone happy. Highly recommend this pub, Jo and Rob are the perfect hard working hosts.

Alright pub, quite tatty furniture beer was tasty and it's got lots of life.

Great food, excellent vegetarian options. Excellent service from Rob and Luke. The music was a bit too loud, otherwise the atmosphere was very lively and enjoyable.

Nice clean and cosy public house. We called in late in the evening just a quick visit before heading home.We wasn't looking for food not sure if there is food options I can only imagine that being quite nice too if they do.

This pub play teen music very loudly. When I requested the volume down a little the music even became louder. Pub Not for meal. The menu is very limited. The bub neither for conversations nor reading.

Nipped at 10.30pm on a Thursday night for a quick tipple while waiting for the train. It was quite quiet but comfortable. My cask ale pint was nice and cold and went down very well. My only critique if I had to choose was the two bar staff were miserable as sin. Barely got a grunt out of either of them when being served and not even so much as a grunt when I took my empty back to the bar and said good night.

Visited a few pubs around the city centre, this one by far the worst. Positioned by the train station, incredibly quiet and uncomfortable on a Saturday night i can only imagine this is due to the fact way the management team handle customers. Be careful, choose elsewhere.

I was in a Monday and they had a special on 2 beers but I only noticed the poster after my boyfriend had ordered his drink. I thought the staff should have mentioned this b4 they took our order but they didn't so it was a more expensive round than it could have been.

I must apologise for the delay in leaving my review, this was due to circumstances beyond my control. We always visit The Howard for a drink when we are in Sheffield, so, as we were taking a three day "twixmas" break there, having worked the Christmas and due to work through the New Year, we decided to book the festive meal for December 27th as "our Christmas". What a superb decision. We arrived early to enjoy a relaxing drink prior to our meal. My wife is a tea drinker but I enjoy their superbly kept cask ales. So it was a pint for myself and a pit if tea for my good lady. Having been greeted with a warm and sincere smile we were shown to our widow table, beautifully set, including Christmas crackers, [a nice touch], in the far corner of the bar. Even though the bar was busy at no time did we feel rushed, thus ensuring a relaxed evening. For our first course I had the paté which was tasty and plentiful. My wife chose her favourite, prawn cocktail. This again was plentiful and served on a plate as opposed to a sundae glass which made a refreshing change and which my lady assured me made it look far better and was far easier to eat. For our mains we both opted for the traditional turkey roast with all the trimmings, and I do mean all. Plenty of delicious stuffing and a full chipolata for the "pig in blanket" instead of the usual cocktail sausage. The turkey was so moist that for once I had no need to ask for cranberry sauce to help it down. The gravy was superb, tasty and plentiful, an extra gravy boat having been delivered with the meal, [another really nice touch]. For desert I went for good old Christmas pudding whilst my wife, having been unable to find a desert to her liking, was provided with a refreshing vanilla ice cream together with a fresh pot of tea. All in all it was both a memorable and delightful evening. We cannot praise The Howard and all their staff enough. We will certainly be back soon and from now in our visits will include a meal as well as drinks. May the Howard and its staff have a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Went in and bought a bottle of wine at around 10:30pm. We were not told they would be closing at 11 and would have drank quicker if we’d have realised. Were given no warning of them closing and was told at 11.15 that we had 2 minutes to leave. Staff then lingered over our table as we gathered our things and we weren’t able to finish our drinks. Staff looked miserable and were just unwelcoming and somewhat rude. I fully understand that you have a closing time but some warning would have been nice.

Been today for Christmas meal was lovely food all of us enjoyed it highly recommend staff was lovely looked after us well

I visited The Howard on Friday 8th December 2023 and tried one of their Christmas meals - it was amazing! Excellent valuable for money, food aplenty and hot! A great atmosphere, and friendly staff. I would highly recommend a visit when you are in Sheffield.

One of my favourite haunts in the 80s, its changed a little since then, but still a great pub to visit and enjoy a few cold ones and some food

First, I don't live local. However I always visit whenever I'm in the area. Always receive a warm welcome, usually have a bite to eat as well.

Turn off the music you pay for , and also shut at 11pm very poor from a city centre bar. Don't give refunds ... really really poor

A nice pub, but on days when the local football teams have visitors it is packed to over capacity and is rather uncomfortable.

Rang up to try and book at table and got shut down with a very rude attitude saying they’ll be “too busy”. Didn’t even ask me what time I wanted to book for. Awful customer service.

Everything you need from a pub. Straight across the road from the Station, great range of drinks, good atmosphere when we visited early on a Friday afternoon. Fair priced for a big city boozer.

Nice nice pub. If you have time to kill to catch a train then this is a spot! Missed dinner menu (closes 1845) but lots of lovely chairs and tables and windows to watch the world go by. Would come back here again for sure.
