It was for my 70 th birthday we had 36 people there and everyone said how good the food was and the staff were excellent with Matt and Ben sorting everything out thank you all

Top notch! Matt, the landlord and his chef have set a new standard in fresh homely food! The pizzas were fresh and bang-on and the clearly home made chips were next level! I can’t even talk about the wings at this point!👌. It’s just great that such effort is rewarded by the local community, because it was rammed when we went at 4pm on a Thursday! And all of that for £38 quid, for 2 adults and 2 kids👌. Great place, please support a fantastic local business!

Simply the best pub in Nuneaton. Great beer ..great staff.....food coming soon ....whats not to like. The new owner has gone above and beyond to bring in new customers and has made a greay job of making the pub a focal pount for the local community

I have forgotten about the extra you have to pay for mash potatoes and cauliflower cheese which the cauliflower was rock hard like other vegetables

The menu is a blast from the past! Ploughman's is on there & liver, onions n mash. I had the latter. Loads of liver, mash good, no extra seasoning required! Prices are fair which is rare these days. 10/10 !! Am delaying my trip so I can come back & sample the ploughman's tomorrow lunchtime!

Went there Sunday before last and had a very good meal, it's well cooked and not over cooked, mushy/burnt like the carvery we had in restaurant on Bermuda Estate, the roast potatoes crisp on outside, the mash looks as if its cooked on site because you can taste some lumps in it, cauliflower cheese was great with plenty of cheese on it, the vegetables was cooked well (semi hard) and not mushy like most places you go too, good portion of meats, selection of beers as well, staff great, will definitely be back, have to book to make sure you get table.

Excellent midweek meal using the Beat the Clock deal. Delicious, homemade food which we both enjoyed. Will definitely be back

After living in stockingford for 25years we have finally got a local pub that ticks all the boxes short walk great ales fantastic food with pleasant attentive enthusiastic staff well done horseshoes.

Took the family at 4.00 for a Sunday lunch so expectations were not high as late in the day. Firstly the COVID recommendations are followed to the letter and more so you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Normally at this time on a Sunday you expect something to have run out but not here, everything that was on the menus was available. It was served beautifully and tasted fantastic no scrimping on servings and unusually every one in the party agreed is was amazingly amazing. When the bill came I was even more impressed, Less than £100 for 6 people including 2 drinks each. Staff are great and would recommend to anyone which I don’t do very often.

Another lovely night of socially distanced, but enjoyable relaxation. Special menu was beautiful. Beer still kept to correct quality. "New normal " hasn't affected attention to standards.

I read some reviews saying unfriendly and cant believe it ?? THE most friendly couple run the pub and the beer and food are brilliant .......love the place

we have just come from the horseshoes we popped in for a couple of drinks I needed the toilet and came back from the toilet and there was no sign to say if using the toilets you need to go outside and come back in through the main entrance but I was only going to the toilet it was not signposted another gentleman did the same and was not approached by the landlady I suggest that the landlady either treats everyone the same or at least puts signs up to make it clearer instead of singling me out.

Great place, really tasty food, good varied menu, fast and efficient service. Clean tidy and very friendly staff. Laura and George are really on the ball. Well worth the visit although my waistline is complaining, but that’s the penalty you pay for getting proper home cooked food.

A 'clicky' little place we've been to a few times but could tell soon after arriving that they're struggling and it reflects in their manners and attitude to their customers. Our small group were made to feel like they were doing us a favour and witnessed another group being spoken to in an awful way. We had intended to order food but after other diners negative opinions both side us on-top of the awful attitude of staff we decided to move on.

As a regular local of the horseshoes I can only praise Laura and George and all their hard working staff on the covid safety rules that are in place while still maintaining a sociable pub to dine or to have a drink.We came up for a meal on Saturday evening inviting another couple with us who were amazed on how smoothly everything operates and the meal was excellent served by a newly appointed chef. Do not believe in any negative remarks the horseshoes is a very safe environment to socialise in these difficult times.

Had Sunday lunch delivered last month and it couldn’t be faulted my husband phoned to thank them.Had another one delivered yesterday and I couldn’t believe the difference!It was literally half the size of the first one!Last time the Yorkshire pudding was the biggest I have ever seen but this time it was a quarter of the size.This time it wasn’t worth the money!

Have been to this pub for 20 years as a meeting point between two sides of town with friends. Had just arrived and missed a one way sign to the toilet, COVID, and then spoken to like a piece of dirt and refused service. A thoroughly unnecessary and upsetting reaction leaving us all baffled from a host not deserving of her tenure or suited to being a publican. We will not be returning.

Went for a family Sunday lunch. Started with tasty starters of mushrooms and chicken strips so tasty. There was 7 of us and we had all roast meats delicious and tasty. Vegetables firm but not hard or soft so spot on. Gravy is plentiful and lovely. The staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Plenty of sauces to accompany your lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed this meal and will definitely be back. Comfy seats pleased us all to.

Have visited the Horseshoes several times since lockdown and each time have found the whole experience superb. Excellent Covid safety measures In place which are explained on entry including one way system, table service and hand and surface sanitiser on each table for customer use. Great menu including some fabulous new specials combining classic pub grub with fine dining.The belly pork special was a particular favourite!

Turned up for a quick pint with a couple of friends, soon found the staff were completely over zealous about enforcing their one way system leading to them to refuse us service. A thoroughly bizarre experience.

Had a couple of superb Sunday lunches during lockdown so asked Laura if takeaways would continue and yes was the reply.Had one today (12/07) and it was beautful and am now sitting here absolutely sttuffed.If. like my wife, you are not yet ready to venture throgh the doors of a pub, then get yourself a takeaway, go home and enjoy.

Little local gem - wide variety menu proper pub food! Highly recommend made to feel very welcome on first ever visit! Definitely be back!

Popped in for evening meal early. Good beer selectin, menu ok for pub grub.Fish and chips was good tasty chips good portion. Lasagne tasted good only issue being portion size! In separate bowel i would estimate Child portion. Explained to waitress who just smiled.Pity as has potential for better, more customer service would be appreciated.

We went for a family meal and we were not dissappointed. The food was Amazing and the beer was superb. Such a friendly atmosphere and the bar staff were lovely....Faultless.

This was our first visit since takeover and it was better then ever. We had beef and turkey both were nice and plenty of it. We will start going again for our lunch in the week. Well done.

Never went to the place before it changed hands recently. The new owner is friendly, chatty and an all round nice bloke. Decor is nice and cosy. Very clean. Staff were so helpful. Went to watch my fiances band play so had food while they set up. Home made chips were the best part. All the food was very nice and didn't take forever to arrive. Band was brilliant obviously and I'll definitely be back. Wether it be a night out or a daytime pub lunch

Friendly welcome from the owner and staff. It was quiet but the service was efficient. We had everything we needed to enjoy the meal, they just need to get some highchairs.

Visited with a business colleague on 16th October. Superb selection of beers, beautifully kept. The food was excellent, prices very reasonable and really good service. Looking forward to visiting again when next in the area.

Went today for lunch as it is close to the canal. Everards Ruby was excellent, had to have another. My gammon, chips(brilliant) and specially asked for onion rings were a treat. One helping of onion rings will do two easily. GO, you will not be disappointed.

Popped in on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Found a good selection of real ales and friendly customers and staff. Football was on but you could sit in an area where you could not see the screen. They have a good menu plenty of board specials. Sunday lunch is a must book apparently. I am going back for a meal next week so will review then

Both me and my wife didn’t fancy cooking and decided to go the pub instead. On entry we got a warm welcome as always from the staff. We sat in one of the raised booths in the window had a look at the menu although the menu isn’t vast has everything you’d want. We choose the steak and added a Stilton sauce this arrived about 20 minutes after ordering and it didn’t disappoint it was superb and the sauce thick and creamy. We also had a sweet which was also superb. We go there quite a few times and it’s always a happy friendly atmosphere always feel relaxed. The staff are second to non would definitely recommend this place food is good and if you like ales there’s a great choice a definite 10/10 keep it up

Went here on a Saturday night only problem don’t take food orders after 7.30 which is a shame as food and service is excellent definitely recommend and will definitely be returning lovely pub lovely staff

I live relatively close to The Horseshoes and myself and girlfriend often visit for the odd pint.

me and my husband went to the restaurant on 22nd march 2018 to go to the grill night to be told that unless you got a reservation there wasn't any food available. we had been on other numerous occasions on grill night with no trouble at all until last night and we are not boycotting the reastaurant as we weren's very impressed with the service especially as it was only half full with the grill menus on the tables as if you go and order food as usual

Always a good selection of real ales, great food and friendly staff, it's nice to sit in front of a real fire when it's cold

First class home-cooked food in a traditional pub setting. Friendly staff, good selection of beers, excellent value for money. Have enjoyed a roast Sunday dinner in The Horseshoes on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. Predictably good. The chef is on a mission to please.

Arrived at 2.45 (food served until 3pm, last orders 2.45) bit worried we would be too late, but after a quick check with the kitchen said no problem. Good selection of beers, reasonable choice of food, menu plus specials board. Friendly service, good home cooked food, good sized portions. All 4 meals were good and prices reasonable. Enjoyable lunch worth a visit for good pub grub.

We had a very tasty mid week meal here on a quiet evening with very friendly service. We returned for a Sunday roast a few weeks later. On arrival the car park was full then we found many reserved tables which was definitely a promising sign of good food but maybe not much hope of getting a table! Luckily for us the friendly ladies behind the bar checked with the chef there was enough food and found us a table. The roast which was a selection of three meats was a delicious home cooked meal that was thoroughly enjoyable! Generous portions and all for £7.95! We will definitely be returning only this time we've booked!

We visited on Friday 04/08 on the day we moved house and arrived at 2pm only to be told that the chef had a previous engagement so no food.!! Gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned a week later which was fine but the chef did not have basic pizza ingredients and was still very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime

ordered food, waited an 50 mins, drank 2 drinks and still no food. we did ask and were told its being plated up. we had to leave. got a refund for the food. left

I grew up on this road but hadn't been to the Horseshoes for years. A friend recommended it so we gave it a go and had a great Sunday dinner, lovely service and a nice ambience👍👍👍

Lovely local pub with great food. Are here a few times now and the portion sizes are huge! They have a great menu along with a brilliant specials board! Hand cut chips are well worth a try! Definitely recommended and will be visiting again!

Fuimos a la herradura en el 30 de mayo de 2017 con 12 amigos de Yorkshire. El chef estaba enfermo, pero la preciosa dijo que podíamos encargada orden para llevar y ella cálidas y proporcionan cuttelry platos. Ella no podía hacer lo suficiente para ayudarnos. Si alguna de esta manera definitivamente lo recomiendo. Me gustaría volver y probar su menú. Gracias de nuevo por su maravillosa hospitalidad

Had a lovely lunch with my family today, the food was great.. the home made chips were yummy. I will definitely recommend it to other.The bar staff were very friendly.

Four of us blew in from the Coventry Canal, hungry and looking for supper. A thoughtful local walking his dog alongside the canal recommended the Horseshoes nearby. We were warmly welcomed and noted that the customers were mainly local and friendly. We were amazed at the range of ale on offer and the good range of food from which to choose. Service was quick, careful and cheerful and we all enjoyed a wide range of meals (sadly mine, the very tasty burger with trimmings, was so generous I couldn't manage all the chips!). All in all, after a frustrating search elsewhere, this was a really good find and we went back to the boat well fed and happy. Thank you Horseshoes (and the dog walker on the towing path).than expected

Found this pub, just off the Coventry canal. Looking for some real ale - which they had! Nice pint of Shefford Plum mild plus Everards range. We went in at lunchtime and had a snack - cajun chicken and a chicken melt. Knocks Wetherspoon's versions into a cocked hat for sure - big quantity and quite tasty. Staff very friendly & helpful.Beer & food great value too.

Came here for the first time a couple of days ago on a Thursday - steak night. Had wonderful bacon, garlic mushroom starter which with warm crusty bread was yummy !Main of steak chips & peas was equally nice - chips are home made and really good, unlike the fozen or oven chips that you get in many places.Great to have a free bottle of wine with 2 meals purchased. Really pleasant welcome and feeling that the landlady & other staff wanted to look after you and make sure you had a pleasant evening. We shall return, especially as others in our family like craft beers of which there is a very good selection. Overall a lovely evening !!

A good local pub with excellent homemade food. We went on a Thursday which is steak night. You have two main meals off the Thursday menu and receive a bottle of wine for free. Both the sirloin and the rump steaks were well cooked as we like them and the homemade chips were fantastic. The service was good and the staff were friendly. A lovely impromptu night out.

Enjoyed several meals here over the past few years, every time an enjoyable experience and always excellent value for money.The only complaint I have is that they don't have the gravy on Draught.

Been here a few times now, and I rather like it. It's nice to find a pub where you can have a drink without feeling you have to have a meal. Excellent range of beers which aren't outrageously expensive, and each is kept and served well.We have also eaten here and again the food is excellent. It isn't the usual reheated pre-prepared stuff you get at the chains, but freshly cooked using quality ingredients. Be warned however, the portions are huge!All in all, a great pub that's also withing staggering distance of home....think it's going to be a great local!

Lovely Victorian themed pub with top quality staff. If you want open coal fine and a very relaxed atmosphere this is the place. There is a wide variety of beers. The staff are super friendly.The servings are very generous. The puddings are the best.

Nipped in on Saturday lunchtime for a bite to eat. Excellent beer selection ...i went for Old Original and it looked as good as it tasted. Food wise the choice was simple home cooked British faves and we opted for a steak & onion baguette and 2 burgers. When the food came the burgers were huge and to be honest the girls could have split one between them. The chips reminded me of my Gran's - none of this oven chips / fries nonsense these were proper old fashioned home made beauties. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals and will be back again soon. Honestly cant praise the beer enough - top pint.

I brought my family there for nice pub food. I had heard a lot of good things about this pub. Unfortunately, we arrived and the waitress was bored, on her phone and not really interested. The food was okay we had the burgers and the fish and chips. Fish was nice and we liked the chips. The beef meat for burger must have been mixed with onion and seasoning and unfortunately, we did not have the impression that it was good quality meat.

We chose the Horseshoes as the venue for an informal wedding reception for a party of 22. We wanted a "proper" pub meal and decided to have fish and chips as that dish is always superb. The licensees were truly great,providing us with "champagne" for the toast, the food which everyone loved , and even transport for my wife and I from the Register office and back to our hotel in Hinckley after the festivities together with 3 friends. We had come up from our home in Wiltshire and were joined by family and friends from Leicestershire, Wiltshire,Gloucestershire, Wales and Warwickshire, and had a great time helped along by the great choice of real ales cider etc that are always available.Our thanks once again for a wonderful event.As we stayed on an extra day we revisited the pub on the Wednesday evening for an absolutely fabulous steak dinner. I so wish that we lived closer to the pub, I would love it as my local. I can't recommend it highly enough.If you like good food and decent drinks at very reasonable prices you MUST visit the Horseshoes .

Been using this establishment for nearly three years now and since the current landlords have been running this place it has gone from strength to strength, lovely atmosphere, great food, and real ales, we would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch.

Always lovely fresh ingredients we had cajun chicken horseshoes burger and a kids mealEverything was hot and fast . The burger came with homemade chips and onion rings and coleslaw the best looking and tasting burger at a cheap price ive ever had . The homemade chips are the best no frozen cheap stuff . All in all proper food at great value

We were passing trying to find somewhere to stay for the night as we had been for a business trip local, the staff and owners went out there way time help us out and even there customers were really helpfully resulting in us find some were near by, so we came back for our evening meal and even enjoyed the pub quiz amazing place would defiantly visit again when in the area.

Just passing and called in for a meal whilst staying in the travel lodge...starter mushroom and bacon was amazing lots of garlic mains lasagne was equally good made to feel welcome as a stranger. Would recommend.

We had a family dinner here. It didn't start too well as both my daughter and son-in-law love pate, but the 'homemade pate' was rather loose, almost liquid and not at all appetising (I tried some). Neither of them finished the starter. However, this was soon made up with the excellence and quality of our mains. My salmon in particular was cooked to perfection and the watercress sauce divine. My son-in-law is a chef, but even he commented on the excellence of his steak. Although no children's menu, they do reduced portions of any of the adult mains and both granddaughters were silent as they polished off their meals. I finished with an indulgent Irish Coffee made in exactly the way I had asked. The children were offered a choice of ice cream and were delighted to receive three ample scoops. The bill was a complete treat for someone used to London prices. Marvellous value for money, an excellent meal and we can forgive the pate starter thanks to the excellence of the rest of it and the lovely, friendly service!

Wonderful Sunday lunch cooked with care and attention to detail. Lovely cuts of meat and freshly prepared vegetables topped with homemade gravy. Enjoyed it so much we came on the following Wednesday evening. Fish and chips was excellent and so too the gammon and egg. Daughter recommends the vegetarian pizza. Great atmosphere too,

Visited on a Monday night with some friends. The food was great, good value and tasty. I had Cajun chicken and a friend had the lamb burger, which was huge with home made chips. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I have been coming quite regularly and and have never received less than perfect service. Everyone involved here strives to make your visit the very best. Everyone here made this evening a pleasure, with great food, hospitality and freebies! Always a pleasure!!

This used to be the brewery tap for the Tunnel Brewery, but they let the lease go and now it is just an Everards pub. Not that that is a huge problem, but they no longer serve 10 real ales. On the other hand, they now do food all week, so swings and roundabouts. Inside is open plan now, where it used to have separate areas. There is a real fire for winter and a TV for sports. Outside there is a basic beer garden, but nothing for children to play on. Beer prices are good. It is situated at the back of the George Elliot Hospital, a short walk from their car park. Parking here by the way. As such it is on the outskirts of Nuneaton and at least a mile or so walk from the station.

So after being told no food at 7.40pm people on next table at 8.15pm ordered food , we walked out and that annoyed rang pub only getting answer phone.

Saw this as an entry in the Good Beer Guide. Dog friendly and does food. They had a good choice of beers in good condition. The food is good and not expensive. I plan to return.

Just had a delicious meal at The Horseshoes. I recommend the Cajun chicken, although I have tried half of the menu and have always been presented with perfectly cooked, fresh food.

Arrived at 7pm and the pub was lively and welcoming. Great beer followed by fantastic meal. None of your microwave heated pre-packaged meals here. All freshly prepared and delicious. Staff very attentive and polite.

We've visited several times to partake in the glorious home cooked food. You cannot beat good quality meat and home made chips which is all excellent and a very genourous portions are served. The hosts Chris and Kev make the place very welcome and make you feel like you want to keep coming back. Thursday night is "special night" - 2 main meals off the special menu and you get a bottle of wine which is nice - not a paint stripper lol. Sunday roasts are very good as well but need to book in advance. I don't like butter in my mash so Kev kindly makes mine without. Definately a place worth a visit if you want good food.

Went this week for lunch never been before although passed it often. Nice pub friendly service and nice food. The only thing was the chips were very burnt a mistake I assumed so will go again.

This is my second visit to The Horseshoes for Sunday dinner, first visit I was just with my husband and today went with family. The food is very nice especially the beef, it's like a proper home cooked meal and I couldn't fault the quality of meat. The environment is also nice and relaxed and a lovely Landlady and staff who make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this for a Sunday Lunch and advise you book first.

I visited the Horseshoes on 28/04/2016 with my fiancee so she could see the venue for our post wedding meal. She liked the victorian theme and the feel of the pub. We decided to have lunch and drinks and Rose decided on the ham egg and chips and I went for the bangers and mash (proper sausages from a local butcher who also produces the ham for the pub). as usual, the portions were very generous, the ham was about a quarter inch thick and the chips were "to die for" according to Rose.My sausages were thick and meaty with proper mashed potato and lovely thick rich onion gravy. all washed down with a great pint of Everard's Original for me and a couple of G & Ts for Rose.I have never been disappointed with the food or drinks at the 'Shoes and Rose loved the place and as a former landlady for many years, she is an expert judge. We left after a great lunch; thanks to the chef and the friendly and helpful barman/waiter.I heartily recommend the Horseshoes s a "real" pub with great value and quality food and a fine choice of real ales, cider,lager and wines and spirits, all at reasonable prices. Give it a try!

Not been here since changed it's name, we were pleasantly surprised how different it was. We went on quiz night (wednesday) very busy great night really good atmosphere very friendly staff and service will be using this place a lot more. Been on a Saturday and was less busy but still good place food looked good.

The food is absolutely fantastic for the price and you will drive a very long way to find better chips, nicer steak, fresher peas or better company (see our hostess Jenny in the picture).Thoroughly recommended!

I've withheld reviewing this place until I'd tried a few dishes. Firstly was their Sunday roast dinners. Very good sized portions and no shop bought, ready to cook style items. The yorkies are one of Kevs specialties. Secondly was their pizzas. Crispy thin crust and loaded with whatever toppings you want. And then the third time was their burger. A mountain of top quality beef burger with bacon, onion rings etc. Hand cut chips were a treat themselves.Along with a great range of beers and lovely staff, this is one place to return to.
