Only been in a couple of times after fishing young lady behind bar very friendly and chatty it's local to where I go fishing so I will be there regular

Was having a great night until right near the end, then the landlord barred several groups for not bringing glasses back!! Won't be be wasting time or money in there again

Ate here on a Fri night as been to the NEC motorhome show. Only does food on a Friday and Sunday, but what great homecooked food. 3 of us had gammon and chips, one had lasagne...all meals nice and hot, well cooked and very tasty. Excellent value, good draught Bass and bottle of Jack Rabbit Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely friendly service., and a nice traditional busy pub.

Had a great experience when I visited on Boxing day for festive couple of drinks. Was treated to Christmas carols being sung by a group of people with an accordion which made it even better

Good wholesome food & plenty of it at a very reasonable price. The service was first class, they made us feel really welcome. Also felt 'safe' as we were asked to sign-in & sanitise when we entered & social distancing was observed. Would highly recommend this lovely old village Inn.

Have to say The Old Chequers Inn needs to be congratulated for many different things. Firstly the way they have considered safety not only for the customers but also their staff in these strange times , then there is the excellent quality of beer on tap , the owners and staff can’t do enough for you and I’ve notice they go the extra mile for the older generation who get well looked after. The food is faultless and we regularly take home fish and chips and on Sundays they do an amazing traditional dinner. Well done H and Pete and all the staff 👏👏👏

It's a charming old pub, the food is lovely and has a great atmosphere.

Have been three times now and have not been disappointed with either the quality, taste, quanity, presentation or service. The landlady has made the dinning area really cosy and it is beautifully kept with tasteful decor and is certainly not what you'd would expect when passing. One of the things I like is that there is a choice of potatoes as most pubs these days only seem to go in for chips plus there are things on the Special Board that are unusal. Brilliant, may it long continue.

Good food and good beer in a welcoming pub.

Traditional pub grub and not controlled by a company head office, so locally sourced products. Had a real home cooked feel to it rather than mass produced. 14 of us and most had something different, so a good challenge for the kitchen, but it all came out at the same time, all cooked well, tasted good. Good portion size. A nice surprise in truth. Worth a visit. Prices ok. Good choice of drinks.

Always stop here for a pint, good Stella, good hearty food can't go wrong. Lovely to sit by the log fire, watch the games on telly, great pub

It is a very friendly and cosy pub. We had some sandwiches they were really fresh n tasty.

We have started to eat here often, it's never too busy which is great and the food is lovely home cooked proper food, steak is gorgeous!! The staff are always really friendly and the service is fast has a really nice family run atmosphere

Visited on couple of occasions in last month for meal & drinks with family and friends, both occasions food has been superb, fresh, and great size portions, great atmosphere and staff attentive but not overbearing or annoying! Would highly recommend The Chequers!! Will be back for sure, many times.

Took 2 wheel chair parents and a blind man Staff were amazing could not do enough to help us. Small meals available even pureed one. Its the 4th time we have been each time . Everytime exvellent service. Thankyou for going the extra mile for us. Much appreciated.

This was our second visit. First time for a Sunday lunch. Staff very friendly and so is the atmosphere in the restaurant. Food is amazing. I started with the prawn cocktail. It’s the best I have had for a very long time, then went for the large Sunday roast. 3 meats all cooked lovely with mash roast and veg. As I said in the title “ Compliments to the chef”. Also a big thank you to all the staff and the owner who made our visit so nice. Will recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you. Steve 😀👍

2ND Visit,absolutely love the place..ist visit was a sunday so had a home cooked sunday dinner 10 out of 10..2nd visit family of four with a highchair.Again off the menu mixed meals from chicken burger to home made faggots n peas..All four of us was extremely happy with the homecooked hot food and great service.very reasonable on price and very clean.

Whilst staying at the nearby hotel, decided to try here for dinner , usually try and eat out as most hotels get lazy with there food and are usually over priced. The pub had a nice little restaurant round the back,and the lady serving was very helpful. I had whitebait for starter which was excellent fresh and tasty, for mains I went for Chequers chicken, quite a large portion of chicken with a tasty sauce and ham, new spuds and some mixed Med vedg. Only complaint to much ham round the chicken but very nice, with two drinks it was £24.00 which was good value. Will certainly return and suggest other people give it a try instead of the hotel, the pub also has a nice beer garden

Visited for food and a few drinks while in Bulkington on business. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We were served with a smile by very friendly staff and an all round good local pub atmosphere.

Ale was warm on first visit for my mate. It may be the way its served. I had a stella and we both had pints of lager on 2nd visit. Nice cosy wee place and was busier on Thursday same as the other boozers.

Went for sunday lunch and i would say the food was ok, not outstanding but its not awful so passable. It's probably not somewhere I would go for Sunday lunch again but others may have a different view. It's very busy with locals and so I guess the food is to their taste. If you want outstanding then this isn't the place but if your ok with average then it's fine. Staff were very welcoming.

I was taken here for my birthday luncheon on 25th August. There was eight of us round the table and the food was pre-ordered. I had the steak and it was the best piece of steak i hae had in a long while. Eb=veryone enjoyed their meal and we were all well looked after.

Having a few drinks with partner and a friend, sat chatting in a window seat, not noisy at all, no trouble to anyone else, were all late 40’s so not rowdy, partner went up for more drinks and got told we had had enough, land ladies partner/ husband sat at the bar and had had just as many as us if not more, he could see we were perfectly sober but said nothing to help, we left and went to Poppy’s where they were very pleasant and happy to serve us several more drinks, we had eaten here ages ago and had a terrible meal but being local paid up and just said wouldn’t eat there again but certainly won’t drink there now either.

Ordered a steak medium,got a burnt end of joint of beef,sent back got a well done steak, by this time my partner had finished there meal was asked if was ok said no as was still over cooked so they asked if i wanted it cooked some more. Er no as it was already overcooked. If this was my place i would of not charged for this meal but no discount at all. Wont be going again.

This is a wonderful pub to relax in and socialise with friends. The pub is cozy and relaxed with a rich variety of drinks and snacks. A restaurant is located at the rear for evening dining. The pub is well maintained with two fires and has tv's for sports coverage. They have wines ,lagers, guest ales, soft drinks too. The quest ales change from week to week so there is variety too. The staff are friendly and there are good clean refurbished toilets here. Children are welcome with a parent or guardian.

Fabulous place...just been to a Christening celebration in the marquee..decorated beautifully with DJ entertainment. Fantastic staff service as always and prompt roast dinner served to guests .. piping hot and delicious..great atmosphere and great family feel .. we love coming here 👍👍
