Very dissapointing, ww haven't been ther in a while and we certainly noticed a big difference in the food quality, reduced portions bit price increase, food arrived with items missing so had to wait , when I queried what had been served was told its due to a new chef , menu has things on it that shouldn't be on there, so it misleading , won't be going back there , which is a shame because it's a lovely country pub ,unfortunately food has gone down hill .

Shocking! Booked table for 5 1.30 for Sunday Lunch. Table not reserved! ONE HOUR later the food arrived, lukewarm and tasteless. Yorkshire stodgy, stuffing burnt, 3 very small over cooked roast potatoes, 5 small rounds of carrots, a few green beans, greasy gravy. Meat ok but cold. £15.95?? Not value for money. Wouldn't recommend The Horseshoe and won't be going again!

A nice dog friendly area to the left as you walk in. It’s all a bit wooden and old fashioned ( in a typical chain pub way) and the prices are on the high side. The staff were friendly but I was left a little underwhelmed.

'The Horseshoe Burger' is one of the best, if not THE best, burgers I've ever had!! Topped with cracking crispy onions - and the chips were cracking too!! All 'washed down' with a lush cold lager, and in the lovely beer garden - watching the planes fly overhead. Friendly staff as well. Will be going back again soon.

Went there for a bite to eat in their wonderful beer garden as it was a sunny day. Not been for years as I am not local but remembered enjoying previous visits. Plenty of nice spots to eat inside too from in the bar or more formal dinning area. First thing I noticed was how welcoming and accommodating the staff were and the lovely atmosphere. Seemed very popular place but still plenty of space. Very clean. You can help yourself to an abundance of condiments rather than restricting you with just what you’re given. Ordered the Horseshoe burger and food arrived promptly. Huge double burger, so tasty & pipping hot! The burger was generously filled with these delicious crispy onions which made the burger so moorish & yummy. Nice change to raw or cooked sloppy onions or onion rings. Nice chunky chips and side salad. Wish I lived nearer as would be a regular visiter for proper pub grub and atmosphere!

On first impressions the Horseshoe looks nice & welcoming, shame the food doesn't match. Ordered a cheese omelette & chips and a cheese ploughman's with a side of chips. The omelette was nicely cooked but lacked flavour & luke warm. The ploughman's was really disappointing, 2 thin strips of tasteless I assume cheddar, 2 small pieces of crispbread & some salad, the side of chips was minisqual for the £3.20 charge. Would not recommend nor visit again

A non biast review from The Google Review food review. We came in unannounced and we looked through the menu, which reflected the lovely countryside in which the Horseshoe is situated. The menu reflected everything British, your usual Ploughman's lunch, steak pies and vast amount of choices with a lovely dessert 🍨 menu, the restaurant was very clean and it also had a massive outside area which was equipped with lots of benches to eat outside. I would like to see in the future an acoustic sort of event in the lovely gardens outside, or some sort of entertainment. So now for the review. Food ☆☆☆☆☆ Service ☆☆☆☆☆ Cleanliness ☆☆☆☆☆ Price ☆☆☆☆☆ Staff ☆☆☆☆☆ Toilets ☆☆☆☆☆ A complete 10/10 review I hope to be back very soon Good luck in your future.

Roast potatoes were soggy, the stuffing hard enough to play cricket with the yorkshire pudding hard burnt aswell as the parsnips. MORE AT Google

We went to eat at the Horseshoe on 19th July 2024, the food was cold, overcooked & overpriced. Paid roughly £45 for our food for 2 of us. I had a steak that I asked to be cooked medium rare & what I received you could see was overcooked before a plate even hit the table. It's amazing that 'trained' chefs cannot see this, yet a member of public can see it LONG before even cutting it open. I'd be embarrassed if that had left my kitchen. The staff forgot about our starter & was brought out at the same time as the mains, which meant my partners main was ice cold by the time it came out. Massively undercooked chips, items advertised on the menu missing from the plate, no onion rings, burnt fried onions over the plate, took an hour to come out despite there being only one or two other small groups eating at the time with no explanation or apology for the huge delay. Says a lot about a place when only 1 or 2 other groups are eating at 8pm on a Friday evening. Complained to them on Facebook & was told that I should have complained at the time. Dreadful. EDIT to your reply: Your response here is almost as terrible as the food we were served with on Friday. You shared 1 message with me, essentially putting blame on me that I didn't complain at the time. You didn't offer any solution as a reputable restaurant would & should. It's not my responsibility to make sure your 'chefs' can competently cook a steak and that you lied on your menu about what food actually comes with the meals. There's a reason you have a lot of negative reviews recently & the Horseshoe was dead on what should be one of the busiest times of the week. Take note, hire better cooks & better your restaurant. As I said to you on facebook, people often don't complain, they just don't come back... which evidently as you had less than 4 meals come out in the entire time I was there, 2 of them being ours, would suggest this is the case here. EDIT to your reply: How to fix it? Do not blame the paying customer. They are the ones who keep your business afloat. Almost every complaint here you've posted an arrogant/sarcastic response essentially disputing everything the customer has said/blamed them for not complaining at the time. Every complaint can't be wrong. Your staff can't always be right. Number one rule of hospitality? Customer is always right. You don't eat the food you've served to them, so if they tell you it's bad, you have to treat that as if its true & fix that issue. Further Edit: I noticed you've deleted all your responses on here, I'm curious as to why you haven't reached back out on facebook?

Myself and my husband came in today for a Sunday roast, my husband ordered the lamb and I had the pork, when it arrived it was luke warm, 2/3 paper thin slices of meat, ( as thin as boil in the bag meat ) 2 half’s of frozen roast potatoes, a small ball of stuffing 6 carrot slices one small piece of broccoli, and a mouth full of cabbage, the smallest Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever seen!! and the gravy looked like coloured dish water. It came on a child’s size plate, when the waitress came and asked us if everything was ok we said the portion size was so small it was like a kids meal, and she agreed!! Then someone else came over and basically told us that the portions were that size because of the quality of the meal, apparently all the vegetables were fresh, like I said above frozen!! So unless you want a kids portion don’t visit this pub, £37 for 2 kids meals definitely not good value for money, we will NEVER visit again,

Spoiled family birthday. Went for lunch for my sons birthday. The pub was quite busy, sunny Sunday with an air show nearby. Queued to order at the bar, a little while later one meal arrived, a lamb roast dinner which was sent back because no one (including the lamb roast person) had received starters! We had our starters then the lamb meal arrived but no one else's meal! This meal was finished long before any other main course arrived. My caesar salad arrived, eventually, this was a disgrace it was a very basic mixed salad comprising lettuce, cucumber and tomato, I had ordered chicken and bacon as an extra, if I had not it would have been a little side salad. The chicken was dry, I had to search for any bacon, no anchovy, no parmesan, a couple of croutons and a drizzle of bottled dressing. Disgraceful. I received a refund and informed that the young waiting staff were distressed by complaints (not my complaint, I had no problem with the youngsters). We were told there was no management...why? On a busy Sunday? An air show next door!? I got a refund for my meal, no apology, no complimentary drinks or anything. The lady who seemed to be responsible seemed to think that because it was busy, rubbish food and rubbish service was justified.

DISAPPOINTED! There is a large car park. There's also a garden out the back, with seating around the front. Dogs allowed. disabled parking out the front too. Toilets available. Sadly I feel the pub wins the award for the smallest roast dinner available! The plate was tiny and we even questioned if it was the child's portion! The potatoes were from frozen. The food took ages. Our food was originally given to the wrong table. Broken glass left on floor, despite the waitress seeing it. First visit for many years. The interior has the making of an authentic traditional pub but it is lacking. Tables are chipped and a little sticky. Three of us went for the Sunday roast. Service was via the bar ordering and was quite quick to the table. Pork and beef was lukewarm at best. Portions of vegetables differed between plates. Tiny roast pudding. Small selection of veg. Overall it was underwhelming. The gammon and egg was a little better. There is a good drinks menu and some zero alcohols. There is plenty of parking. The staff were polite and checked in on us. I would not return for a Sunday roast but perhaps would for a summer evening drink in the garden.

My companion was restricted to a gluten free, vegan meal. The potato with baked beans was the only choice but this was acceptable. As we didn't want a full meal we had a baked potato each, I had the tuna. This cost with two glasses of lime and soda 16 pounds something. A bit high but I suppose pubs have now cottoned on to non alcoholic drinks be good moneyspinners. When they arrived the potatoes were served with the smallest portion of salad I have ever seen. This included a dried out end part of cucumber. The potatoes themselves were big but had obviously been microwaved so were not crispy but flabby. And they were barely warm. We did get a couple of butter portions though. We were not asked by anyone if the meal was ok. Will try the other pub in the village. At the aerodrome.

However, what was shocking was that the owner was being rude to the bar staff that was on shift, she was constantly calling her own staff useless and idiots for no reason at all. They were all doing their job as bar staff but she was slandering their abilities to other staff that works there. Absolutely abismal.

DONT waste your money on a roast here. Barely any vegetables on the plate. Payed an extra £2.50 for cauliflower cheese and it was literally 2 heads of cauliflower! The roasties and yorkies taste like they are cooked from frozen. The stuffing was like a paste. Just very poor. Can’t say anything good about it. Our usual place is cheaper and all freshly cooked… To the reply- If some one would have asked us if everything was fine with our food we would have been honest, but not one person asked us. Not sure how you could have resolved anything at the time anyway as there wasn’t just one thing wrong, the whole plate was poor. Not sure why you need to know our usual spot, but it’s The coach and horses in Wellingborough (amazing roast every time) Didn’t serve a roast today so came to you instead. Lesson learnt. Hopefully you make improvements as the pub itself is nice.

This pub just keeps on giving, the food was delicious, the staff excellent, the village setting delightful and spotlessly clean throughout. A truly relaxing lunch with friends, thank you.

So I booked this place for 19 people to celebrate my 30th birthday. We had 5 different families with their children and had the worst experience I have ever had!! We booked here specifically as I personally do not like a carvery however I think a carvery would be better than the roast dinner I received here. 3 of us had a lamb roast to which it was fatty and acquired a weird bitter taste. The carrots were hard and far too big and to top it off the roast potatoes were soft. The stuffing was horrible and looked more like an onion bargee and there was just a silly lump of shredded cabbage. The selection of vegetables was a joke. The whole dinner was tasteless however the 2 people with beef said the beef was cooked nice. 2 people had burgers, 1 being a child and the other an adult and both couldn’t eat the burgers as they were far too over cooked. 1 small child had fish fingers but these were rockhard and far too overcooked. The service was from the waitresses were very poor. They never came to ask us if we needed anything and how the food was. They staff were not friendly and welcoming atall and the whole experience was a disaster. I was told that a manager would be out to speak to me but this did not happen. It was my 30th birthday and I was so disappointed by the whole day. It completely ruined it, I did not have a nice day atall and I certainly will not visit for food again!!! After spending over £200 and leaving hungry, no I certainly would not recommend!!

We only dropped in for a lunchtime snack but we had such a good time I felt I had to write a review. Our sandwiches were delicious. Mine was crammed with very tasty cheese, my companion’s full of delicious prawns. We sat outside in the beautifully kept garden. The staff were so friendly and helpful. At one stage it started to rain slightly so one of them found us an umbrella and put it up for us. I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ and how much we appreciated being properly looked after by caring and efficient staff in a lovely, well cared for setting. Will certainly be returning!

I visited the Wellingborough cafe for breakfast, as I often did. We arrived when it opened at 10 am and was told that we could not have bacon or sausage until 10.30 am. When asked why the assistant informed us that she would not offer anything with meat in it as she was vegitarian. I do not hold this against her as she is entitled to eat what she wants, but she should not have been serving in the cafe unless she could prepare anything on the menu. We left and went to M&S for better service, and to be honest the food was better.

Great pub, loads of beers and ciders, draft, bottled etc. Didn't eat but menu looked OK... Only downside was that the prices were a bit high in my opinion.

Lovely village pub, delicious food and great atmosphere. Not busy at all on a Saturday afternoon. Nice side of the pub for a quiet drink then the other side is more family and watching the sports.
