The Hong Kong in Bradford

We had a takeaway from Hong Kong while staying in Haworth for the week. I called to place rhe order and the woman on the phone was really helpful and friendly. When we collected our order we were met with a warm welcome. The food was fresh and hot. We had a chicken curry, mushroom curry, veg fried rice, beef fried rice, chips and free prawn crackers. Portions were very generous for the price. Everything was at least £2 cheaper than our local chinese back in Leicestershire and the food was better. The meat was all good quality with no gristle. The curry was thick and tasted great and the onions in the sauce was fresh and crunchy rather than slimy like you get with some takeaways. The portion of chips was big for the price too and they were lovely and crispy. Overall we were very happy and well fed after a long walk at Malham Cove earlier in the day.

This used to be the best Chinese takeaway in the area but since it changed hands the quality of the food has steadily declined. We ordered four different dishes to serve to our guests from Australia. All the sauces were watery and bland. I added a chicken stock cube to my chicken curry to give it some flavour! The chicken had a rubbery texture and seems to have been ultra processed. Half the food went in the bin. Very disappointed. It may be cheap but in future I will pay more and go somewhere else for a better quality of food.

Best Chinese food in Haworth especially the delicious beef and mushroom fried rice and chips 5/5 for me would recommended ☺️

Ordered the meal for two lady helped with my choices and gave great advice on tastes and what to expect, really tasty meal would certainly recommend. Many thanks for great service and meal.

i have ordered from here since i was a child, and i haven’t eaten here in months. Last time was when the old owners was there. I’m so disappointed the salt and pepper chips, was practically normal chips with a few onions. and i have never seen a chicken chow mein like that.. i didn’t know it had mushrooms in and how big the chicken was. gutted

Poor tonight. Usually get prawn crackers but not included and when I ordered crispy duck no one told me it wasn't crispy. I hate duck unless it is crispy and this was soggy and fatty. Had to throw it away. Thirty pounds paid and a good third of it thrown away

Had special fried rice & curry sauce , the meat was old, chewy the curry sauce was lumpy with powder, the prawns were over cooked and so small, nice king prawns money wasted followed by food poisoning the following day. I only ate a small amount of the meal, the rest went in the bin (reheated rice is dangerous) No other Chinese take aways open and after reading reviews on Google it sounded a safe bet. Only to find out later that after a change of hands the food is not good

The only Chinese take away open on a Monday in the area , so never been before thought we would give it a try, unfortunately it will be the last, over cooked rice, tough meat, greasy spring rolls and curry sauce with a layer of greasy on the top. Everything tasted like it was made the day before and reheated in the microwave. ... I didnt hear any dings but who knows . Not recommended

Had beef noodles a couple of weeks ago. Excellent, with loads of very good beef.

Food used to be quite good, but now it is disgusting since the change of owner, think they are using corned beef in the beef dishes or at least that is what it seemed like, I won't be visiting again, don't waste your time or money go elsewhere.

Used to be nice good value food, now gone to pot since change of owner, beef seemed strange a bit like corned beef, it was dry and hard and red on the edges, really disgusting.

I have been going to this takeaway for twenty seven years but now it has changed hands I will not be going again.We gave it three tries as it had changed ownership and each time the food has gone in the bin.In my opinion it has gone from the best Chinese to the absolute worst.

Apparently the owner has retired so new owners now, The prices have gone up but still quite reasonably priced. I got a Beef Curry & Fried Rice today and it wasn't the same as before, Rice was darker but not too bad. The Curry sauce was very thick and pasty and the meat was hard and dry and looked red on the edges (the meat was pretty horrible and ended up in the bin) I don't think I will be going back.

This used to be a most excellent takeaway. Not sure if the original owners are away or it’s changed hands but the last 2 orders we’ve placed over the last month have been very poor. Very watery sauce and very bland flavour. Some ingredients missing and not at all the usual standard we’ve experienced. It’s very upsetting as it used to be one of the best Chinese takeaways in the area.

Absolutely delicious - we are veggies so we got black bean veg, veg spring rolls and egg fried rice (only £9.20 for all of it). Could not fault it. Super fast service, all yummy and they even gave us a little 2023 calendar complementary. Would recommend to anyone!

Ordered a Chicken and Tomato with cashew nuts No cashew nuts bland no taste no flavour I would of expected bamboo shoots or water chestnuts Hardly any chicken and bulked out with cheap tomatoes It’s been going down hill for a while Save your money !!

Ordered 1 Special Fried Rice,1 Chicken Fried Rice,2 Curry Sauce & 1 Chips. Both fried rice dishes were very bland,some of the meat an off putting grey/white colour,no beef,tiny prawns. Curry sauce never seen curry,thin & not tasty. Aweful chips,not fresh,suspect they were frozen.

In Haworth on holiday from sussex and decided on a Chinese so gave the Hong Kong a try,ordered a meal for two with an extra veg dish massive portions well cooked and prompt service above all very cheap compared to west sussex in fact enough for a family of 4 but certainly enough to have another meal.like the way you choose from the menu for a set meal so you end up with dishes you like. Can't fault it

Not been here for a while always brilliant in the past. Tonight worse ever. Ordered 2 beef dishes. The beef was boiled and thrown on top, both sauces undescribable neither black bean or crispy spice, not even crispy, unedible. Don't know if different owners but definitely won't be back!

Visited here whilst we were staying in Howarth. Greeted by a pleasant lady who was taking the orders and was rushed off her feet, but she seemed quite a character! As for the food, for the price the portions were huge. The chips and BBQ dry ribs were nice and there was plenty of meat in the special curry, however, it did lack a little flavour but I would certainly go back to try something else.

We visit on date nights, and we're never disappointed. No skimping on portion sizes, or the amount of meat in fried rice.

We used this takeaway for the first time the other day. The food was really nice. There were plenty of customers picking up orders. A good sign to a good Chinese.

The spring rolls were massive and much bigger than I'd anticipated. The Singapore style vermicelli was really tasty with plenty of meat. All in all a lovely meal.

Great little takeaway. Very efficient and wonderfully friendly staff. Portions were very generous and all food was piping hot even by the time we had got it home and dished it up. The special curry was especially good. It was very tasty and contained very generous quantities of various meats. My only issue was with the duck. The duck itself was gorgeous and beautifully cooked for me and the pancakes were wonderfully soft and fluffy however I was not convinced with it being dressed with shredded lettuce rather than the normal cucumber and sliced spring onions and the plum sauce was rather flavourless and nothing like the usual hoisin sauce that I would have expected. All in all though thoroughly good and I would heartily recommend. The whole family loved tucking into their various dishes.

Chowmein was okay, fried rice as expected. Duck not crispy, very fatty, the plum sauce had a horrible aftertaste and tastes like nothing we've tried, strange, the sweet and sour sauce was extremely watery, is this normal for West Yorkshire? The curry sauce was thick and a little hot, but had no flavour. Prawn toast overcooked, no flavour. The aromatic duck was not that at all, it was a fatty duck with Lettuce???.. We ordered a big meal and every person (5) equally said they had better and that they'd rate it a 1, luckily we don't live around here so don't need to reorder, but we will be leaving a note in the cottage book so others know to avoid. Sad stuff!

Tonight will be the last time we will use the Hong Kong as we're moving away from the village. It will be difficult to find another Chinese takeaway to match it. The food is always delicious, very quickly prepared and the service is great - whether from the owners or Jane the English lady who has always been friendly and professional.

The salt & pepper chicken wings are to die for!

If you have a special Chow Mein from here make sure you have plenty of pepto bismal and toilet roll. It tasted of disinfectant. Luckily didnt eat it all but believe me if you need a rapid bowel movement just order from here.

Ordered Beef and tomatoes No Onions and chips Brought it home full of onions and a prawn Both would give me a really bad food allergy reaction ! To be fair they recooked a fresh one and gave me £10.00 back so I am happy . As a tip please take on board what the customer orders as food allergy’s are very much a life and death situation to some people .

The staff were very friendly. I ordered salt and pepper chicken and some vegetable spring rolls. unfortunately the chicken was not great, it was dry and stringy with a few bits of onion and pepper thrown in. ive had food from here before and its been lovely, maybe its just this particular dish?

I’ve not been back here for 10 years after moving to Australia, prior to that I was a regular. It really is good to see that some things do not change.

Me and my family have a takeaway once every few weeks from Hong Kong and they are fab! We try different Chinese meals each time and the satisfaction you get from it is amazing! Very pleased!

Visiting the area on holiday this place was recommended to us by a local resident. There was nothing wrong with the food average Chinese and being lazy after a five hour drive it hit the spot. But let me warn you. The portion size is HUGE!!! We ordered a set meal for two and it could easily have fed four people. What it may have lacked in superior quality it certainly made up for in quantity and value for money being £20 for two of us.

This is not our closest Take-Away by any means but it's one that we always return to. My experience is that food is always well cooked, piping hot and so so tasty. We usually have a meal from here about once a fortnight, we've tried numerous dishes and have never been disappointed. My favourite is probably any of the Black Bean Sauce dishes with possibly the King Prawn or Crispy Beef competing for top slot. Barbecue Spare Ribs are an excellent starter.

Been using this takeaway for over 20 years. The food is always excellent. Service usually fine, sometimes gentleman that answers the phone is a bit abrupt. However the lady is always very polite and efficient. Highly recommended.

Haven't had a Chinese meal in ages, and this one was particularly good. Some vegetarian Chinese food can be bland, but this was tasty and the portions generous. It was ready in just ten minutes and was relatively inexpensive. I would recommend it.

The food at the Hong Kong Haworth is usually quite good not the best but OK for a takeaway only, I have found the service from the Chinese people who run the establishment is very good, it' s a pity that they employ an English lady at the weekends who is very ignorant and rude, the first time I had an issue was when i went in to place an order, half way through me placing the order she cut me off to answer the phone and then proceeded to have a long conversation on the phone with whoever was placing the order, I found this very rude when i was half way through my order and I eventually walked out and ordered some food elsewhere, the 2nd time I had an issue was when I tried to place an order over the phone, this time she answered the phone let me get part way through the order then asked me to hold on, I could hear her chatting whilst I was waiting on the phone for ages I eventually hung up and again ordered some food elsewhere, I find this kind of service very rude, DONT answer the phone if you are serving someone, DONT answer the phone if you don’t intend to talk to the person on the phone surely that isn't too much to ask?

Standard Chinese good all fairly good and very fast. Free 30min parking opposite. Same family Been in Haworths 30 years plus.

We've always loved Chinese food, but this take away is the best food we have ever had. Myself and my whole family eat from here frequently, and the food is always perfect. The staff are very friendly and deal with your order quickly. I will never go to another take away again, this is my go to place :-)

Always quick service and polite

First visit was good, plenty of food and it tasted great, despite asking for. Dish minus prawns, they still addede them, and couple of things missing, from the order. It was the 1940's weekend and they were busy, so we didn't see this is as too much of a problem. However the on the second visit.... The local Haworth website says they shut at midnight in a Friday and Saturday, so does the sign on the door. Went in at just after 11:20 and was told they were shut. Can understand closing 5-10 minutes beforehand but 40 minutes?

Hong Kong is a lovely local takeaway. The owner is from Hong Kong but is almost Yorkshire now! He hasn't forgotten his roots because the food is great and reasonably priced. His Singapore Vermicelli is packed with good stuff and one of the best I've ever tasted. My wife loves the mushroom Fu Yung. Love it

We've use this establishment for years & years. After every order we're never let down. We order our selection from the set menu (set meal for 2 for 3 of us!) (Set meal for 3 for 4 of us!!) We never feel short in fact our plates are piled high. The meals are cooked to perfection and presented in study boxes to carry home. We've never had to wait a long time for our order. Car parking isn't allowed directly outside the takeaway but just across the road there is a car park.

Ordered by phone for pick up meal for 3 £25 what value,barbecue ribs that were excellent, sweet and sour pork, ok, chicken egg fu young that was delicious, beef and chicken curry, rice, chips and noodles OmG what a feast it was hot and delicious xxx
