We ate in the restaurant last night and I think it is testament to The Homestead and the wonderful meal we had that we are all still talking about it tonight! It was my belated birthday meal with my husband, our two children and their partners so we were thrilled Cecily was able to fit us in after a cancellation. We sat in the bar area which we all agreed was so cosy, very comfortable and charming. The furnishings, art work, and decor all added to the ambiance. The staff were brilliant, so friendly, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and food they served us. The food, beautifully presented from the amuse-bouche all the way through to the delicious Whitby salt chocolate truffles was unequivocally delicious. At one point I looked around the table and we were all swapping food wanting each other to try our fantastic dishes cooked to perfection by Pete and his team. Being a non drinker I was delighted with the wonderful variety of non alcoholic “grown up” drinks. So nice not to be fobbed off with an orange juice or coke! The drinkers within the party were very impressed with the wines, cocktails and digestifs and the staff’s knowledge of them all. We thoroughly enjoyed a truly lovely evening at The Homestead Kitchen and will most definitely return. Ps we loved the little map we were given of the kitchen garden, so interesting and a really thoughtful extra.

Booked as a Birthday treat. We had the most wonderful meal and evening. All dietary requirements were met with no fuss (notified in advance) and alternatives were given as much thought as the main menu. Service attentive. Dishes were explained at each course on serving. Previous reviews mention small portions and I did worry prior about this. However, for me personally - perfect. It meant I could try a course of each and enjoy all the different flavours. I hate having to choose between a starter or a dessert. Fantastic house wines. It's not a budget meal out but worth saving up for and enjoying as a special evening. One of our number is an experienced Chef and they were impressed with all aspects. What more can I say? Thank you for having us!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Cottage next door. After a warm reception, we were shown our table and quickly ordered some drinks. The night flew by, we were served amazing food made with quality ingredients, and my bf partnered his courses with the suggested wine. The whole evening was relaxing and tasty. My favourite course was the main, partridge, which melted in my mouth. The service was impeccable all evening and I will be booking to return soon.

Food is a very good standard, big emphasis on provenance and regionality. The chef clearly has a confidence and understanding of his craft. Food is a small set menu of 3 courses in the style of Jeremy Lee , therefore one doesn't have to wade through a whole tasting menu of overtly pretentious dishes and that can only be a good thing. Service is relaxed. Of the three visits I've had one lady (I presume the owner) was there once, another lady on all three occasions. Both are friendly and polite. I did however find the service inconsistent. On one occasion the bill was incorrect, and generally I found a consistent lack of awareness of one's surrounding's and plates remain uncleared for much longer than necessary. On my last visit I had to ask for menu's, plates to be cleared, and the bread was forgotten, which I then had to ask for and this was then served after the starter. I eat out frequently and I do find the portioning here very poor. I can't recall a restaurant I've visited that serves such small portions of food. Examples of which include Roast Beef served with one Carrot and 1/2 a Kale Leaf. John Dory with 1/2 Jersey Royal Potato. The smallest Lemon Posset I've ever eaten (2 mouthfuls), and strangely a small triangle of Lemon Tart cut in half with the tip discarded. The Souffle (starter at all the restaurants I've eaten is served as a main course) Lastly I think the ambience in the evening needs addressing, the lighting is far too bright and therefore the restaurant has little atmosphere, I feel more subdued lighting/candles would help.

The welcome and service is by far the best in any place I have been in this area. The food is outstanding packed with flavour. I just love dining at The Homestead

Lovely little bar. So friendly and welcoming, we stayed in Scarborough for 4 nights and went here twice, we would have gone again but they don't open at the beginning of the week. Food was delicious....the loaded fries were great and my mum said the halloumi salad was the best she'd ever had! The cheese/charcuterie boards are a decent size and very good value.Nice ales too. It's only small so would recommend booking.

¡No decepcionó!
