A fantastic pub with amazing staff and great beer selection

Always have a daft laugh in this pub. The beer is good. The staff are nice. It’s round the corner from some old friends so the conversation tends towards the silly and fun. A really delightful place.

Called in for a few ales and they were spot on! Very quirky little bar. The staff were very friendly and talkative, I can see it having a great atmosphere later on but it was fairly early when we went. The location isn't nice but it's definitely worth a visit on the way to watch a gig at the old trafford cricket ground like we did 👍🏻

The Step used to be great.... What's happened?... it's just become another dingy characterless boozer... Still half decent beer, but really not what it was. What a shame... I go next door these days. 😞

Nice beer but it’s a case of fur coat and no knickers! Lovely atmospheric bar in a rustic setting. Unfortunately a visit to the toilet the wheels seriously fall off! The downstairs where the toilets are situated are in a state of dilapidation. There was no soap and no hand towels and no hot water which is unacceptable. I opted for a number one so I could rinse my hands and use my jeans as a towel!! This is an establishment that is charging £6.50 a pint, London prices I would suggest. If the management team are looking at this you need to seriously question whether you should be involved in the hospitality business. Please don’t take your customers for granted with such poor facilities. What have you learned from the Covid crisis?

Great Neighbourhood Bar with Great Beer Selection. Lots of cask options which are usually overlooked and there was a nice vibe with a mixture of clientele. Friendly bar man who knew his onions, a nicely lit upmarket interior.

Lovely little place, spoilt a bit with the 10 minute wait at the bar while the bar assistant kept his back to us and ignored us like we weren't there.

Quite quaintly noble establishment. Lacking jazz for YEARS! Deliciously warm on a fresh February eve. Must emphasise the LACK thereof jazz.

First time visit, found the back of the room quite foreboding but the staff behind the bar very friendly and helpful. My friend and I went in on his recommendation and as we were there at about 17.15 it was quite quiet for a Friday night. I imagine it would get very lively later on. Will return, good selection of beers.

Good beer. On a previous visit the music was somewhat too loud, but they have toned it down and you can converse easily.

This is one of my favourite pubs as there is always a good selection of beers and a good atmosphere. However on Saturday night they only had two staff working! The poor waitress was run ragged and we had to wait 20 minutes for our first drink. Please sort this out! So an update on my previous review. Although covid restrictions have been lifted, this pub still seems to be insisting on table service. This is annoying for two reasons, firstly that typically you have to wait 10 - 15 minutes for your drinks to arrive, and secondly you feel obligated to tip as the option always comes up on their card machine. What happened to good old-fashioned going to the bar and buying your drinks?

All the beers, no nobs, enjoyable ambiance despite not being able to hear a word my friends were saying all night. Add some soft furnishings at the back please to dampen down the overwhelming background noise. Also do away with the table service, takes 20 mins to get your first drink and can never see what is on tap properly on the ipad

They dont tell you they dont take cash until your drink is prepared. This is new to me in Wales we still use cash freely. i was told they have no till and the bar lady said "it wasnt her problem" that I only had cash. I found this very rude. I was ordered by the manager to get one of my group (from the singing workshop I had attended) to pay the £1.50 due for my drink by card which I politely declined.The bar lady threatend me, a mature lady with a hip problem that I would be "thrown out" !. I eventually did find a credit card then couldnt get the pin to work so just sat with my group without the drink wondering if I would be physically thrown out , the threat didnt happen when I was with the others, but utterly shameful. Hardly any customers .

They spent so much doing this place up, but still not accessible or accessible toilets. Real shame.

Staff were really rude to us tonight. Disappointed.

This is a very unfriendly place for women. We were served by a truculent man who appeared unhappy to be at work and very unhappy serving women. We were condescended by him and ultimately bullied. He and other members of staff shouted sexist, classist and ageist abuse at us until we left.

Only visited a couple of times, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It's a pub, serves alcohol has outdoor covered seating.

So friendly! ❤ Very welcoming, lovely staff. Chilled and ambient decor. Both tables and cute little booths. Great range of beers. Interesting little cocktail menu... the salted caramel espresso martini is the best drink I ever tasted. Highly Recommend.

Still one of the best boozers in South Manchester. Solid range of keg and cask ales. Good takeout options. Nice staff. Dog friendly. Good place to slope off to with a paper. Decent outdoor seating. Very clean toilets. Nice mix of locals and occasionals. Snack range could be a lot better. Keg beers could be a bit cheaper. Whoever decided to do away with the cheeseboards should be marched into the sea.

Personal con máscaras pero super amable y servicial. Servicio de mesa y paga en tu mesa. ¿Patatas fritas 2 por 1? Los baños son normales, pero espere a que salga la gente antes de entrar. 10 de cada 10.

We have always enjoyed the chilled out space where we have been regulars since it opened.We walked in this evening and came straight back out! Something is not right but not sure what it is with hideous bar and the lack of electricity at the back plus the garish tables in the back. No visible snacks on sale and because of the darkness it was hard to see ales on offer! So sad it has come to this, it's the Nip and Tip in future!

Taken here by friends. Did not eat but the range of beers is excellent. Selling Mead which is a first for me. There are a range of different craft beers on offer and you can try before you buy. Not expensive and great atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend this pub
