Wanted a special place to enjoy a meal but when we arrived didn’t feel that welcome . Restaurant not busy but kept waiting a good 20minutes before we had order taken . Once food arrived never seen anyone to ask if all okay or if we needed anything. Felt so disappointed as celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary.

Lovely setting and staff, the food is nice but just not quite 5/5. I've been to The Highworth 3 times now, twice for a roast and once for afternoon tea. I will say, the afternoon tea was one of the best I've had, the food was great. However, the roast dinner for me is just missing something. I find the gravy a little watery, the veg and potatos a little bland but the meat and yorkshire pudding has always been delicious. They are very generous with their portion sizes which I do appreciate and there's good variety. Their service is impeccable, the staff are attentive without being irritating and all very friendly and polite. I'm happy to pay the service charge as I think they absolutely warrant it, however the overall pricing of the food is a little bit much for what's on offer I think.

A lovely hotel in Highworth high street. We were looking for a last minute booking and the staff were very helpful in accommodating the two of us and our two small dogs. The room was lovely and clean with a nice king-size bed. The room was called High Jinx. The breakfast cooked fresh and was one of the best we have had in a hotel served on a very warm plate.

I've visited The Highworth a few times recently; afternoon tea for a Baby Shower (twice) and a Sunday lunch. The staff are so friendly and attentive, we had two young lads serving us as well as Annie on Sunday (3rd) and they were all great. The Roast Dinner was so tasty, full of flavour and the cauliflower cheese was amazing! Followed by a yummy sticky toffee pudding. The afternoon teas I've had have been delicious, lush selection of savouries and yummy cakes too (love the brownies!). Highly recommend for a celebration/event and lunch also.

We went along for their Thursday Night Grill. Being a special occasion I pre-booked and paid the supplement for the Fillet steak. Well worth the extra as it was the best fillet I have ever had. The basic costs is £12.50, but the cost does go up if you want to add additional sides. Don't be fooled by the price as its the same quality you get on any other day. An extensive wine list is available along with a variety of cocktails or mocktails to accompany the quality of the food. The Hotel is run by 3 sisters and nothing is too much effort, even when busy, everyone is made to feel special.

The Sunday dinner was excellent, it’s nice to see this lovely building / venue brought back up to scratch. It has suffered from poor management and has struggled to find its place within the community. The new owners seem on the ball and the food was very good, at £25 for a three course Sunday dinner, it’s well worth a visit.

A group of seven of us stayed at The Highworth Hotel for 2 nights Bed&Breakfast 13-15 June 2023 for our annual reunion. The bedrooms were well equipped, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean and we were all very comfortable. - so much so that we hope to return next year! Two points to consider before booking however are, firstly anyone with mobility problems would struggle as there is no lift and some of the stairs are fairly steep and secondly, sadly there are no single rooms for solo travellers who are obliged to pay for a double room. Top marks to the staff who could not have been more helpful and I’d like particularly to pay tribute to the wonderful Lauren who looked after us at breakfast each morning with cheerfulness and efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much Lauren! You are a star! Likewise, Katy who greeted us on arrival and who served at the bar was a delight at all times. Look forward to seeing you next year.

We chose this hotel for our annual college reunion; its position suited us very well as one couple live in the town and another is not too far away, so they can come for a day. We are so pleased we found this hotel! The staff, without exception, are very pleasant and helpful. All my 'organising' e-mails were responded to promptly by either Katy or Emma and they recognised and took notice of requests. No deposit is asked for and one can cancel with no problem as long as it is at least 48hrs before one's planned arrival. Their restaurant is closed on Tuesdays, but there are eateries close by and it was no problem finding somewhere. Breakfasts were delicious, and unhurried. Lauren was so attentive: she ensured we were looked after very well. Nothing was too much trouble. I like crispy bacon, and it duly arrived. The way the hash brown was cooked made it the best I had tasted! The friends who lived nearby were welcomed for our final breakfast which was a lovely way to finish our stay. We told Lauren we want to book again next year, and we're all looking forward to that!

We had a meal here a few years back and it was ok with VERY slow service, However, the Highworth is now under new management and you can tell. We have a lovely meal last week, and the food was amazing - they also had a very good and varied vegan menu which my wife enjoyed. We have the whole 3 courses and all are great - again nice to have 3 good vegan courses and not just "Sobert" for the desert for my wife. Staff friendly and attentive (but not ott) and yes... quick service. Would highly recommend it.

Went here with some friends for a beer or two away from the noisy pubs around Highworth. The bar area had a nice melow vibe with people sat around talking and laughing, but in a way that added to the atmosphere rather than overpowering your own conversation. Staff were friendly and quick to collect our empty glasses. I think the owner was there too, and they took the time to talk to us and check in that we were well looked after which was a nice touch. Haven't stayed the night there but if the rooms are as good as the rest of the hotel grounds then I expect they'll be neat and tidy too.

I visited The Highworth at the weekend with my family for lunch. We were greeted by one of the new owners and made to feel comfortable and relaxed, which with a new born baby as part of the party, this was much appreciated. All of four meals were delicious and hit the spot on a wet autumn day. We ended up staying for most of the afternoon and had desserts too which were home made and were the perfect end to a lovely lunch. Will be revisiting soon and looking to try the afternoon tea too.

We went for a pre-ordered cream tea but when it eventually arrived there were some OK sandwiches and a pile of garish cakes which we had not ordered. When just one small dry scone each arrived, we asked for more but that was refused. The jam was of a poor quality with no discernable fruit in it. No butter was offered. Throughout, the service was slow with no staff in evidence at all for long periods. The bill included a service charge - which we declined, but they nad not deducted the £5 per person deposit which we had paid. We will not be back.

Having been in The Highworth a few times we decided to have Sunday lunch here again. I wasn’t disappointed either and we discussed we must visit more as it’s in walking distance. We skipped the starters knowing we’d want pudding. I opted for the roast lamb which was really delicious. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth and was not chewy at all. The roast vegetables were also very tasty. My husband had the fish pie which he said he throughly enjoyed and it did look nice. I couldn’t resist the sticky toffee pudding as if had it before and it didn’t hit the sides!Service has always been good for us here. On every visit we’ve had eating, nights we’ve popped in for a few drinks and also when we stayed our wedding night last year. I can’t advise what the breakfast was like on that occasion as I was a little worse for wear. However, my husband said it was very nice and it did look high quality. Thursday nights are steak night which is also very good for value. Highly recommended.

I came here for a meal with my girlfriend and parents as we had both driven down for a family wedding. As it was late and on a Tuesday we were hungry and were hoping to find somewhere for food. I rang the Highworth about 20:15 as the owner of where we were staying recommended it and the lady on the phone was most helpful and said we could get a table no problem and were serving until 20:45. We got there with 10mins to spare and I just double checked with lady and she recognised it was me who had rang and said come straight through. The drinks selection was great, plenty of ales, gins and wines to choose from. Decor in conservatory was lovely and the food was great! I had a Sirloin steak which was perfectly cooked rare to my liking. All the other food was lovely too. It was a great find and fully recommend this place for just a drink or a meal with friends, family or a couple! Would come again if we’re down this way :)

Would recommend for food and general atmosphere. Car park is tight to get into, so a small narrow car would be helpful or maybe consider parking elsewhere and walking back to it. Their feedback consisted of ; poor food quality, three finger sandwiches, a scone each that were all rock hard and certainly did not appear to be freshly baked and a chocolate cake, crunchy brownie and a mousse which were ok. They sat in the orangery, and felt that the table could at least have had a tablecloth on, to cover the Formica. No decaf tea was available. The other table having afternoon tea left their food and it appeared they weren’t impressed either.

First visit to this restaurant, Sunday lunch with good friends. We had a table in the conservatory, it was light and airy, lovely atmosphere. Excellent set menu, food was exceptionally good and the staff were brilliant.

This was a 90th birthday celebration for 40 people. The circular tables were laid with crisp white linen. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, hot and delicious. What more can I say? Delicious. A very memorable occasion

Good position many places to visit ,rooms are being updated and very nice too.very good food but a bit pricey, not very suitable for old or disabled persons as the stairways are steep and bendy and some without hand rails,my sister and brother in law stayed here for two weeks and are in there late 70s so the stairs to there room did not help to there long flight back to Canada ,good idea not to park at front of hotel as that is in the middle of traffic lights ,you must drive off and pray.

My wife and I had a Sunday lunch at this delightful restaurant. As part of a hotel it managed to maintain a unique restaurant experience. The décor and seating options from the Orangery room to the comfy dining area (had a quick look at the sumptuous private dining room) are tasteful and artistic. The food was a classic production of a British Sunday lunch that was very well cooked and presented. All the service staff were professional and attentive with a genuine touch of friendliness from the all. Only minor downside was 2 poorly executed cocktails. This venture deserves success and support.

Visited for afternoon tea after a family walk. Not really sure what afternoon tea consisted of, so we were very pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. Generous portions of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and three cakes each (please see photos), plus plenty of tea. We all enjoyed the food and were pleasantly full up.

The food itself was ok although not very exciting. Cheese and pickle, cucumber, and ham and tomato sandwiches. Plain scones (1 per person) and 3 cake varieties. I was pretty underwhelmed and thought the amount of food was very poor considering the price. I emailed The Highworth to voice my concerns but no one has bothered to reply. So I guess I will add poor customer service to my list of gripes! Definitely room for improvement.

We had sunday lunch at The Highworth yesterday. We had 2 courses for £15 each. Prawn cocktails to start , one roast beef and one roast pork, with lovley yorkshire puds and great crackiling with the pork, lots of fresh seasonal vegetables. The food was piping hot on nice warm plates. We had no room left for pudding , Finished the afternoon with a bottle of wine in sunny courtyard garden. Staff and service great.

Gave a 2 because the waitress was lovely. Food terrible. Items missing, cold food, congealed cauliflower cheese and overcooked potatoes. Would not return! Did complain but fell on deaf ears.

This is a very nice pub but called in for drinks at 3pm on a Saturday. Struggled to find a table as minority occupied or mostly reserved but empty . Two hours later the majority of the reserved tables were still unoccupied . Poor management in my view.

Was led to believe this place had been done up I am not sure how can it be in worse shape than it was previously not good something is just off with this place would not recommend it to anyone very strange.

We were visiting family who live in Swindon and stay at the Kembrey park. Our experience at the Brewers Fayre was excellent. There was 6 in our party and I ordered for 4 of us but one of our meals had being missed off. The manger on duty was quick to rectify this and they dealt with it very well.
