Absolutely awful never have the good we want when we go place is lovely just wish they had the food we want when we go staff are lovely too

A warm welcome, clean facilities, excellent friendly staff. All made our get together a wonderful night. We all ate, as we have many times before, catered very well for our disabled friend. No complaints, everyone was attended with the same great service.

A group of friends and I visited this place for Sunday Dinner. We meet regularly and are always looking for good venues. Alas, this was not one. From an already short menu they had no lasagne, burgers, or pie. That left a meat eater like me with a choice of chicken or beef roast. Great - I don’t like roast dinners in pubs because they always fall below what I can do at home. Never mind, it’ll be a change. Well, it certainly was because I don’t normally eat cold vegetables, sprouts I can’t cut through, stuffing that resembles a prune, Yorkshire pud that resembles a panettone, I had the chicken which was all I could eat (and I’m not fussy, usually) My friend had the beef that was like shoe leather. I complained to the waitress that my veg was cold as she was bringing out the other meals. She asked if I wanted to return it to the kitchen. I said no as there wasn’t an alternative to be had so why bother. This should have been fed back to the manager, it wasn’t. I thought maybe I was an isolated case but my friends who also had the “dinner” had the same experience. Only the gravy was hot. We did complain to another waitress who said she’d send the manager. 20 mins later she arrived to clear the table and was shocked to hear we weren’t happy. However, instead of listening to our points she began arguing that nobody else had complained. What relevance does that have? She began to raise her voice to argue with us and her waitress joined in. Regardless of what others have said, our complaint should have been taken seriously. The manager and staff had no customer service or people skills and zero ability to turn a situation round. They were obviously in way over their heads and must have missed the memo about using a complaint as feedback to be sure of improving service in future.

A fantastic large Yorkshire pudding with my Roast beef lunch. Excellent value for money.. landlady is really funny.

Visited for my nephews second birthday and had a lovely evening. Food was really really good! And the atmosphere was great. We were well accommodated! We visit this pub regularly and have to say it’s a great experience every time. The staff are lovely and it’s a really family friendly pub.

Myself & my friend had a bad experience when we visited the pub for a meal earlier this year. We were left waiting over 40 mins & then it turned out that they had taken our money but completely forgot to send our orders to the kitchen. They did apologise & I would never have thought any more about it. However, on looking to book a Xmas meal at another pub in Hornsea I was staggered to see that the Highfield landlady has gone to the lengths of leaving them a negative review & slating them about a hygiene rating saying that it had gone downhill since she left!. Sorry, but that comes across as very bitter, there’s no need to be spiteful about someone else who in the same trade as yourself! Totally put me off returning to The Highfield even though I live around the corner!

My daughter and my son in law held their gender reveal party at the Highfield,the staff went over and beyond to help.Everybody had a fantastic time!We will definitely be going back,very highly recommended 😊😊

First time in for a long time and what a difference, great service from friendly staff, food was excellent between us we had lasagna, scampi, gammon and burgers. Good selection of beer wine and soft drinks and a friendly atmosphere with good music, will definitely be going again.

Took my Parents and another older friend out for Tea as a last minute un-planned thing. Staff were as friendly and efficient as ever and the food came quickly, was good value for money and couldn't be faulted.

I visit the highfield regularly and have never been disappointed, always introducing deals on food and providing new entertainment weekly, as well as a weekly quiz. Perfect atmosphere for a friendly local pub

Rachel and Alex go out of their way to put on entertainment to suit ALL in this brilliant community pub. I've just done Saturday evening with friends and Sunday lunch with family & I can't praise the Venue & the Fantastic Friendly Staff enough.. Love it and totally recommend it to everyone.

Music too loud and creates cacophony with the broadcast station coming out of the kitchen. Fish over-fried, curry sauce very odd-tasting. steak pie had far too much pastry but otherwise warm and filling. Only one real ale on so won't be back

First visit since the Highfield reopened and definitely won't be the last. Loved everything about it. Excellent food, lovely decor and atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend a visit, the steak pie was lovely.

Newly re-opened, excellent food and lovely lovely staff. The mixed grills in particular were fantastic! Good selection of real ales too, a proper local pub feel to it. I will be back to try the burgers !
