Fantastic food, amazing staff and lovely atmosphere. My go to place to eat and drink in London. Child and pet friendly - A definite MUST GO TO RESTAURANT

Wow! I didn't know just how good this place was... Great lunch, service was fantastic. A real North London gem. So bored or the usual offerings and this restaurant has a great fine dining menu served beautifully. I'll be back!

Excellent room for a family get together food hit and miss but mostly hit for most of our party, my starter of 3 medium sized griddled prawns on a bed of something for £10 seemed ludicrous , average price for group including 5 kids for a couple of courses plus a half a dozen deserts & fizzy drinks rest plain water £50 a head for nice atmosphere

We had a family celebration in the Haven’s mezzanine private area for 19 adults and 13 children. The food and service were excellent but just as important the organisation by Julius and his well managed team in the run up and on the day took all the pressure off us and left us to enjoy the day with our guests.

Due to various factors we hadn't been to the Haven for a while but as we were passing we popped in hoping that they'd have a free table for two. The restaurant was half-full but luck was with us as there were two tables left. The Haven filled up as we were there so I do recommend booking if you want to be certain of a place. There were plenty of staff and bread and water was provided and our order was taken promptly. We had a glass of the house champagne each before ordering Spicy Squid and Tempur Prawns for starters and Halibut and Liver for mains. The starters arrived at the same time, as always, also as always, the dishes were absolutely first class. I have tried many house champagnes over the decades and to my taste the Haven house champagne is one of the best in terms of taste and THE best in terms of value for money. The mains arrived together on heated plates (I really do like that and I don;t know why some places have stopped doing it) and needed absolutely no seasoning whatsoever, perfect! In my opinion the Haven is the high quality restaurant of Whetstone. Excellent food served by friendly and efficient staff. Why go anywhere else/

We recently had a party celebrating our 50th Wedding anniversary and our son’s wedding for over 70 guests. We had a sit down three course lunch. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and Julius organised everything perfectly. We have had excellent feedback from our friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Having taken friends to the Haven on Thursday night, what a lovely treat we had. Thursday night now has an excellent pianist playing a mixture of jazz, blues and speak easy type music in the main restaurant. The lights are dimmed creating a much more cosy atmosphere - combined with excellent food, fabulous wine, polite and attentive service - “who could ask for anything more”! The menu has been completely revamped, with something for everyone. Well worth a visit.

We wanted to have a space to ourselves to have great food, wine, dancing and getting together. We had a special 90th birthday to mark and our EB loves to "rock and roll". The Haven Bistro provided it all. The private area was easy for the family to book and order the menu with drinks, a reception with dinner; also the management was very accommodating as regards a playlist of music, table plan and layout of the area. We had 33 guests and all had one of the best parties in a long time. The food was superb from the canapes to start then great choice of first course, the duck salad was a special hit. Main courses were similarly great, the rack of lamb and fillet of sea bass getting special mentions, the trio of desserts rounding up a lovely meal. We ordered house wine which is certainly quoffable. We were able to have our own "disco" and just hope we did not disturb the guests in the restaurant as we enjoyed the evening. We had a dedicated waitress and service staff who were very attentive, served everything on time and with no delays and all the pre-ordered menu items arrived as expected. This was a memorable evening for us all and a big thanks to The Haven and all the staff for enabling this to happen in such great style

We had a most enjoyable evening in the mezzanine function area, perfect for our 30 guests. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The tables were neatly laid out. The food was very tasty and well presented and for the quality very reasonably priced. Julius and his staff ensured we were well looked after throughout the evening. We will definitely be visiting the restaurant again

We spent a wonderful evening in the Bar celebrating my sisters 70th Birthday, from the moment we arrived we had great service from the staff and nothing was too much trouble, they kindly came out with a cake and candles for her. The evening was made all the more perfect with Denis Cook, singer and musician keeping us on the dance floor playing a mixed genre of music from 60s to present day 🎸💃🕺🏻🎼🍾🥂🎤 he made her evening with singing Happy Birthday and Finding a song with her name in it, all in all I would highly recommend The Haven for service, ambience and will look forward to going again when Denis is performing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I am a big fan of The Haven, generally speaking, but I decided to do a surprise party in their events room for my husband's 40th. I wanted the evening to be filled with great food, cocktails and fun and this is exactly what was delivered. The menu was amazing - there was something for everyone, the drinks were flowing and the vibe was great. The new bar also added extra pizzazz. I was able to bring in my own DJ, balloon arrangement and cake - so I could make the evening extra personal... the team were amazing with my contractors and super helpful throughout. The staff on the night couldn't have been better. Everything ran to time and was so smooth. I would definitely do another event here... and the food was just as amazing for 70 people as it is for a table of 4. Thank you for making the surprise party a success!

We had a family celebration here we took the entire rear room. It was beautifully decorated and the music was good. I would say the service was a little bit slow, but I have to appreciate we were a big group. Our food was enjoyable. Everyone had a great time. I think the bathrooms could have done with an improvement and were a little tatty and undesirable.

We took friends to celebrate my husbands special birthday on Saturday night (21 people). We have been many times before and have celebrated other events with them - including taking over the whole restaurant for a special celebration. Every time has been amazing. Julius is always so helpful. The food is always absolutely amazing and all the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend booking an event or just a table for dinner. We have actually just booked to go for Xmas lunch!

My father booked The Haven last weekend for a large group of family and friends to celebrate his 80th birthday. Sharon kept us informed of how the evening would go and was extremely helpful. We had canapés and Prosecco on arrival and the 3 course meal of gravadlax, lamb and banoffee pie was absolutely delicious. Throughout the evening, the service was impeccable and the staff were extremely attentive. We were lucky to also have live music and everyone commented on what a fabulous evening it had been. Went here for my wife's birthday and had a really bad experience. I ordered the squid and the pork belly and both arrived with additional sauces not on the menu. the squid was replaced and when it did arrive, my wife's food was now cold (they did not care we either ate separately or that one was cold). The replaced food was very nice however. Then the pork belly arrived and was covered in a sauce that was so sweet it was inedible. They did take this off the bill but seemed more content on arguing with us that the food served was as per the menu and did not care that we had basically eaten a starter each. My wife did not really eat her main as did not want to eat on her own so we had a £65 bill for a starter each and a couple of drinks. They had no interest in whether we had eaten or not, and just said we hope it is better next time. There is no way I will ever go to this restaurant again. If you want an overpriced restaurant with no atmosphere where the food will not be as advertised and where they will not care if you eat or not, then this is the place for you. If you want decent food on a night out, avoid this.

We have waited patiently for The Haven to re open fully after lockdown and did they do us proud. Yes they did. My sister and husband travelled 3hrs down to London to come visit and eat here this evening. Everyone left very happy the food served by the chefs was absolutely amazing. Great to see Julius again greeting us and the rest his team of friendly staff who are amazing people.Glad to see the place buzzing again and everyone enjoying themselves. The #Foodie Group loves coming to the Haven. We are looked after so well by Julius and Martin. The food was as wonderful as ever, with an excellent choice of wines and cocktails. It is such an elegant and fully covid safe environment. Despite a couple of fussy eaters in the group, everyone left happy and well-fed. We recommend the squid, sirloin steak, calves liver and Eton Mess. There is also an excellent vegetarian selection. We also suggest that you arrive hungry as the portions are very generous. We look forward to our next visit here.

We recently celebrated our wedding at the Haven using the private mezzanine floor, which easily held our 30 guests. The food and service was superb and the staff could not do enough to make sure our special day was perfect. Highly recommended.

We were visiting the area to see family and didn't book, which was silly on a Friday evening but we were welcomed here at the Haven restaurant. The staff were so lovely, friendly and professional here. We had a drink in the bar and from entering we felt completely safe as all the Covid measures were in place including screens between tables. The Slovakian bar lady was lovely and so welcoming. She made sure we had got a table in the restaurant and chatted to us all night. The ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant was special and the whole meal experience was excellent. The service was professional and friendly but not intrusive at all. The meal was super and the best steaks we have had for a long time. Every course was delicious!! We would not hesitate to come back here and we look forward to our next visit. Just been to this restaurant with my husband for his birthday. I wasn’t sure what to expect as it was the first time we’d been out for months. It’s always been a good restaurant but today it exceeded my expectations. The outside seating area was comfortable and warm thanks to the heater and throws assigned to our table. The food was excellent, particularly the chateaubriand. The service was fantastic. I thoroughly recommend Haven and hope to go back there soon.

What a fabulous Restaurant. My Husband and I booked a table for 2. We were unsure as to what it would be like with the tables outside as he hates eating in the cold but they had done a great job. The tables were dressed properly and with the heaters on felt very cosy. ( the blankets were and added bonus!) The service and food was perfect as always and we stayed much later than we thought as the atmosphere was lovely and we enjoyed our evening very much. Well done Julius and his team. 10 out of 10. We went to the Haven when it reopened again in April. Surrounded by marquees and no shortage ofheaters and blankets it’s business as usual. A slightly smaller menu but all beautifully prepared, delicious and arrives hot. The service is first class and nothing is too much trouble. We’ve been back again for lunch and everyone was as enthusiastic as ever to please. Only thing missing is the sun! Well done Julius and the team. We’ve missed you.

I booked the Haven for lunch yesterday to celebrate my mum's 89th birthday so 3 of us went as my brother came along as well. I am SO very pleased I did as we had a truly wonderful afternoon. All Covid restrictions in place, heaters and blankets at the ready, glass screens in place to separate tables etc. Stringent adherence to the rules by the waiters. The owner has obviously gone to a huge amount of time, effort and cost to ensure that both the diners and the staff are kept as safe as possible for which they deserve a huge thank you. We arrived at 1.00pm and all the outside tables were taken - I understand was booked out all day and I'm not surprised.The lunchtime menu had so many things on it that we wanted to eat we were spoilt for choice - doesn't happen that often. The food was excellent, the service excellent, the wine very reasonably priced. A truly lovely afternoon for my mum, life almost felt back to normal as everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves, even the weather was kind to us. Will 100% be going back to try some of the other dishes on their great menu. Very very happy customer! To all the staff at the Haven, thank you so much for making mum's day special.

We come to The Haven as often as possible, but proprietor Julius has excelled himself in the 'sit outside' stage of Covid Lockdown. It was a celebration lunch in late April, but the weather felt more like November! The Haven had all outside tables under cover, with screens dividing plus heaters - and even rugs for the chillier clientele! The food was better than ever - my calves liver was sublime, and the other diners all rated their soup and burgers highly. All staff masked and very helpful, and we couldn't have felt safer or more satisfied!

There was only one restaurant I was prepared to visit after lockdown and that was the Haven. Although we are dining in the open air I was still concerned about being near other people. Knowing the measures the Haven had previously taken to protect their diners I was hopefulthey would be equally stringent in the open air setting. I was amazed with the steps they had taken to make their customers safe. Even though the tables were in the open each table was was separated by a screen and as soon as a table became vacant, they were cleaned down and sanitised before diners were seated. The tables in front of the restaurant were protected from the elements by the canopies and the ones on the other side of the pavement by gazebos, both areas were heated. The main event in any restaurant is the food and I know I’m boring but for me the steaks are best. I don’t know how the Chefs do it but time after time they are cooked to perfection, when you have a steak you are give a steak knife totally superfluous, you could cut the steaks with a butter knife, my friend had lamb cutlets that were perfectly cooked pink. Couldn’t resist having a pudding Rhubarb and Ginger fool with crushed pistachios, very rich and indulgent but after 5 months of shutdown we had earned it.

We wanted to go to a restaurant before lockdown. The Haven is the only restaurant I have visited that has the most stringent measures in place to ensure their customers dine in a safe environment, Julius the owner has gone to great lengths to do this. There are screens separating the tables and this is the only restaurant I have visited since Covid-19 that has done this. Hand sanitisers and a temperature station are also in place. The masked staff ensure that diners wear their masks if away from their table and if a diner has forgotten their mask they are provided with one. All these measures ensured we enjoyed our last lunch until hopefully we are back in December. I must add our Churrasco fillet steak was cooked to perfection.

The Haven still has a great menu, but the owner has also put a great deal of thought into how his customers can feel safe and secure while dining.There are screens between tables both inside and out, the staff all wear masks at all times and their is plenty of sanitiser as well.Tho is may sound like a hospital ward, but it is still the warm and friendly place it’s always been. The food is great and the staff really put you at your ease. Do eat there once everything opens up again. This is exactly the sort of restaurant and local business that deserves all our support

As well as many evenings spent dining with friends, The Haven has also always been our go to place for special occasions. In the past, this has included my husband’s 50th birthday party, our Silver wedding lunch, family gatherings, not to mention numerous other parties to which we’ve been invited over many years. When I read on the Government website that The Haven was licensed to hold marriages, for us it was the obvious choice to hold our daughter’s Covid restricted 15 person marriage ceremony followed by lunch. Julius and his staff are always so friendly, easy to work with and beyond professional. Nothing is ever too much trouble, the food is consistently first class and the service impeccable. Our sincere thanks and gratitude go out to them all for making Sunday so special in these odd times.

Quickly shown to our table where we were given a menu with many interesting and appetising dishes.I opted for a spicey chicken salad dish, not my normal starter but the chicken was tender and the salad a great accompaniment. My fiancee went for smoked salmon. A lovely portion very nicely garnished.For mains, I had rack of lamb, tender as possible with carrot, parsnip, beetroot and fondant potato with a fabulous jus. Absolutely melt in your mouth. My fiancee went for Sea Bass beautifully cooked in a light lemongrass and coconut sauce.Dessert was Eton mess for her, beautifully presented and I had a yoghurt pudding with chaise crushed pistachios, different and gorgeous.We finished off with two coffees.All the staff were incredibly attentive and I couldn't fault one aspect of the meal.This was as good a meal in every respect as I've had in the last 40 years plus, I urge you to give it a try.

Para el cumpleaños tuvimos el champán de la casa, que es una muy buena gota.Las medidas anti-Covid han hecho que se reduzca el número de mesas por lo que es recomendable reservar. La menor cantidad de invitados cuando el Haven está lleno significa que hay menos ruido de fondo, lo que facilita la conversación en la mesa, ¡hay una ventaja!¡Recomendado!

Cena de cumpleaños familiar fabulosa.Julius y su equipo fueron tan profesionales como siempre. Han hecho que el restaurante Covid sea seguro y fue increíble estar de regreso.Las mesas estaban bellamente colocadas y espaciadas con pantallas de altura completa entre ellas.Un delicioso menú en oferta, teníamos una selección de entremeses, que incluía calamares, salmón ahumado y una sabrosa sopa de verduras. Platos principales de lubina, hígado de ternera y un hermoso solomillo a la parrilla. Todo excepcional y servido con elegancia. Altamente recomendado.

Alquilé un área privada de Haven para una pequeña función de 30 invitados para el almuerzo.Todos los invitados comentaron sobre la calidad de la comida que era absolutamente deliciosa. He vuelto a 6 restaurantes desde que se relajaron las reglas de cierre de los restaurantes y el refugio se destaca en lo que respecta a la seguridad. El esfuerzo que Julius y su personal han puesto para hacer que el refugio sea seguro es muy superior a los otros restaurantes que he visitado. Hay desinfectante de manos en la entrada y dentro del restaurante. Ha reducido las coberturas para que se mantenga el distanciamiento social tanto en el restaurante como en el exterior. Se han instalado mamparas interiores entre las mesas y todo el personal lleva máscaras. Wonderful Sunday lunch. Possible the best roast beef I’ve had out for years. Great service and lovely to get a table outside in the summer months. We’ve been now a few Sundays In a row, as that’s how good the food is.

Hemos estado dos veces desde que The Haven reabrió sus puertas. Domingo almuerzo con amigos y sábado noche con mi familia. La reapertura ha sido bien pensada desde el menú de bebidas en su teléfono, el personal usa la vestimenta adecuada, el gel para manos en la puerta y las pantallas que no lo hacen sentir como si estuviera en la cabina, aún puede ver la restaurante y no te sientes para nada encerrado. ¿Qué puedo decir de la comida? Sorprende nuestra primera comida desde el cierre y qué gran manera de empezar. He comido aquí antes, pero estaba un poco preocupado debido a la situación actual. Estaba un poco nerviosa al ir a un restaurante por primera vez en más de 3 meses. Tan pronto como entré por la puerta, me complació ver que el propietario se había tomado muy en serio las precauciones de Corvid 19. As the lockdown begins to ease, some of us are venturing out to eat together.Today four members of The Foodie Group went back to The Haven in Whetstone for lunch where we were warmly welcomed by Julius and his two lovely masked waiters.We were greeted with hand sanitizer and sat at a very comfortable round window table where we were cocooned on both sides by Perspex screens. As expected, the salt and pepper were in paper sachets, and the menu was a single use photocopy.However, these changes didn’t hamper our dining experience. Parsnip soup or goats cheese salad provided a delicious starter, accompanied as always by the most wonderful bread and good butters.We couldn’t resist chicken for the main course, superbly presented. The spatchcock chicken had coleslaw, succulent grilled sweet corn and the most superb sweet potato fries. No, we didn’t need dessert or coffee, so we had both! After 3 hours of comparing lock down notes, we reluctantly left to return to our homes.This was the ideal, covid-safe restaurant to ease us in to the new reality.Many thanks to Julius and the team for all their preparations and changes. Had a wonderful post wedding party here 2 weeks ago.The whole event was very successful. It was all very easy to arrange and on the night the food was faultless and the room looked lovely.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Haven and the friendly staff if you are looking for a celebratory venue or just a delicious meal.

Have been coming to this place for years. Always the best quality food and great service. Make sure you order the sticky toffee pudding it’s the best ever!

Nuestra fiesta de bodas de oro el domingo en The Haven fue increíble. Todos nuestros invitados han comentado lo increíble que se veía la habitación con las sillas cubiertas y atadas con cintas doradas y los centros de mesa con bolas de brillo. Desde el momento en que reservamos nuestra celebración, Julius hizo el proceso tan fácil, proporcionando nombres de lugares y plan de mesa. Todo funcionó sin problemas con el personal más encantador. Vinimos aquí para una fiesta de cumpleaños de amigos. No habíamos estado aquí por mucho tiempo y debo decir que la comida era excelente. El servicio fue muy bueno y toda la comida que era diferente salió a nuestra mesa al mismo tiempo. Todo estaba bien presentado, caliente y sabroso. La fiesta fue genial ya que el anfitrión se había hecho cargo de todo el restaurante por la noche. Increíble noche con buen ambiente.

Beautifully presented table. Very attentive and professional service. House Champagne was perfect (better than many brand champagnes). We had 4 oysters which were very meaty and tasty. Crab and crayfish to start followed by Argentinian steak (wonderful) and Lamb steaks (also yum). Don't do deserts but the menu suggested some very nice choices. Always a pleasure dining at Haven. Never a problem and food always excellent.

We all met up after some time and decided upon the Haven as the venue.Everyone chose from the lunchtime menu. This was a great lunch. Good value and the variety of choices excellent. Everyone enjoyed the experience, so much so this is probably going to become a monthly event!Excellent quality of food and such good value.

This was my first visit to a restaurant since mid September, unfortunately I had been unwell and not able to travel. I am a great fan of the Haven and it was a no brainier to dine there on my first outing since being unwell. I was desperate for the havens renowned churrasco steak, I was not disappointed it was as good as every. For me a good restaurant is one that consistently provides firstly excellent food and who’s level of service level os service is first class. Julius the owner keeps a firm grip on his restaurants standards, which why he has built up a loyal following.

Would like to say thank you very much to Julius & his team. We visited your restaurant on Saturday, absolutely amazing as usual, lovely service, lovely food. Also thank you very much to our lovely waiter Nick for looking after us during our visit. Looking forward to our next visit with yourselves.
