A welcoming pub with friendly staff and talkative locals. Very reasonable beer prices. Pints served traditionally and with great pride. We stopped in four or five times over the span of a week and were made to feel like long time customers. The layout and interior are absolutely charming. It put me in mind of walking into the the living room of a venerable aunt and uncle 40 years ago. A pub from another age -- frankly, a better age.

Right opposite Shudehill tram station, you will find this historic and traditional pub. It is a welcoming place so don’t hesitate to go in and a good time is pretty much assured. It is old-fashioned, but this is definitely part of its charm. It has a central bar with rooms around it, and these nooks and crannies create a great atmosphere. They do a range of local beers which are well kept and much cheaper than most of the places in Manchester. The service is fun and friendly, and they have a lot of locals many of whom are real characters.

Plugged a phone in to charge, was immediately verbally abused by the barman who wanted me to buy a drink. Offered to buy one, was told to leave any way. This guy is creating a terrible atmosphere, don't go.

Myself and my son were in Manchester for the weekend from Ireland. We fell in love with the Hare and Hounds; what a wonderful, traditional pub with such a laid back and friendly atmosphere. If only all pubs were like this one ! In a world of bland, loud, modern pubs, the Hare and Hounds stands out as a reminder that the best is not necessarily the new ! Every best wish to all there, and thank you !
