What a great pub, great pub food at a really good price and lots of it! Chips were amazing! Staff are so friendly and helpful, a wonderful afternoon thank you!

Just been to The Hare and had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing. The pub, restaurant and toilets are immaculate. The service is excellent and the staff are very welcoming. 5 stars from the family, highly recommended. Thank you to all staff

Went out for a family meal. Great place to eat. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The gentleman in particular who served us was so lovely. Very impressed with both the gluten free selection and the clear signage on the menu of which dishes were gf. For a village pub there was a lot of gf options even for dessert. Can thoroughly recommend the gf apple pie!The bill came to just under £160 for 4 of us which was only slightly more than we'd usually pay but worth it for the quality and quantity of food. We all had starters, mains, desserts, drinks, 1 coffee and 1 Irish coffee so £160 was still quite reasonable. We would definitely go back again. Due to catching up with family birthdays we have eaten out several times over the last month or so and after each course last night we all said our meal was the best we'd had anywhere we've been recently.

I went in a family group on a Saturday lunchtime.There were 8 of us in all and we just wanted a quick meal and to catch up.Yes, as others have said it's easy to miss the turn for the car park but once in there are plenty of spaces.We were quickly shown to our table and the waitress asked for drinks ordersThere is an excellent choice of ales, ciders, larger and wines although alcohol free beers are limited....Looking through the menu there is an excellent range of foods.Some of us had starters which quickly arrived. Unfortunately the waitress (who was obviously new and being trained) missed one of the starters off her list to the kitchen which was only noticed when the other starters arrived.She was very apologetic and it was quickly resolved with a huge wheel of camembert arrived with loads of bread....The mains were all hot, hearty and very well cooked.We had a range of traditional fish and chips, beef and ale pies, the vegan burger and a haloumi burger and others I can't remember which we all enjoyedTotal bill was around £170 for all. Great value we thought.We will certainly be going back.Well done everyone

You could easily pass this Village Pub without noticing it. Set back off Loddington's deceptively named 'Main Street', The Hare isworth taking the effort to find it.It is Stone Built, with a spacious interior and Beer Garden. There is a full Bar service including well kept Hand-Pumped real ales,Wines, Spirits and Soft Beverages.The food offered includes a good selection of dishes, from a variety of cuisines, which might be described as upmarket Pub-Grub.Starters, Mains and Dessert Menus are all provided.Being COVID-19 Restriction compliant all orders were taken at and delivered to the table. Service was prompt and efficient.Prices were reasonable for the quality and locality.If you visit this establishment then be aware that parking may be difficult, especially at peak times.

First visit this year 10/6 /21 so good to be back at my local pub , meal was superb waitress and Simon were brilliant, can't wait for the next visit.

My fiancé and I came here today for the first time, and I was very impressed. As a vegetarian, it’s really hard to find a good, veggie Sunday lunch, and the nut roast offered by The Hare was by far and away the best I’ve tried. The sides were delicious, and I even had my own little veggie gravy boat. I was very happy with my lunch and we will definitely be coming back. To any other vegetarians looking for a good Sunday lunch, look no further (not sure how they would cater for vegans)! And for the meat-eaters, my fiancé had the fish cakes to start and the roast chicken Sunday lunch, and his plates were clean at the end of the meal. The staff were lovely and we sat outside in the very cute garden. We definitely recommend this pub!

We had to eat outside under current restrictions for those from Tier 2 meeting with 2 households. No problem. Plenty of tables and under cover. Window ordering service. We had roast Sunday lunch. Plenty of food, great roast, lots of veg, trimmings and quite a choice. Very good value. Served with a smile. Great selection of ales. Did not have to wait too long despite being full inside. Great little spot combined with a 5 mile walk. Nice village.

Just been for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was delicious, staff were fantastic, all covid guidelines being followed. Felt very safe with regards to social distancing etc. No complaints from us. Can definitely recommend. We will be back. Many thanks to all the staff for making us feel safe & relaxed during these unprecedented times.

Second time we've been in two years and again was not disappointed. From food to service this place is excellent.There was four of us this Saturday lunchtime and we shared two starters, each had a main course, three puddings, three coffees and two rounds of drinks. The Bill came to a touch over £100 and was worth every penny.I was going to post a photo of my steak and ale pie but it was too good! The service was spot on. Will definitely be back again soon

I have eaten here a number of times, it's my favourite pub for dinner in the area. The food is delicious and decent portions, Good beer on tap and the landlord/staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Nice village pub great pub food, I felt it was a little on the expensive side had the eat out scheme not be on. Food was lovely and service good.

We met here earlier today and decided to have lunch in the pubs front garden.We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken and after a short wait our lunches turned up.I went all out and ordered the Hares mixed grill which at £18.95 was very good value for money.My gammon was delicious and my steak was cooked exactly the way I requested, medium rare.My friend had the chicken chorizo with chips and peas and Could not complete his as there was too much of it!With a couple of pints this totalled a very fair £42.Service was excellent and the lady serving was exceptional at her job.Will return.Visited 17th September 2020.

Great team handling Covid well; nice beer garden where they serve food as well as in the restaurant. Good selection of beers, which they let you sample. Great food, good portions and good prices - hard to beat!

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday Lunch at The Hare. Reasonably priced and professional service. Felt very safe with social distancing and COVID-19 precautions in place.

We always try to book into The Hare, but as it is so popular, we sometimes struggle. We were lucky to book in last week, and again the food and service was again excellent-WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Felt very at ease with surroundings , attentive service and excellent food . Highly recommended . All the staff were eager to accommodate customers, nothing was much trouble. Will visit again.

Just had a fabulous meal. Social distancing was perfect. The Sunday lunch was just amazing, we had three courses which was delicious, and so much food. The staff were so helpful. We are already talking about booking again.

Food, drink, service, venue, value for money all brilliant. It is not surprising that you need to book in advance

We had the fish sharing dish the fish in Tempura and the spicey hot prawns in batter were lovely no place on the dish for the cold prawns. Their salads are really nice not just a bit of lettuce. My husband had the mixed grill and I had the ribs they were very tender but spoilt with too much sauce would have been good if the sauce was separate. We had reserved a table but were put right by the kitchen door we could hear the staff talking and they were in and out all the time. All in all it was a good meal we would go back but ask for a different table. A nice touch was the red rose.

We were pretty impressed the last time we visited The Hare, Loddington. So we took a chance and went again with special guests. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed, well looked after, and very well fed! It is an honest and plain menu, but beautifully cooked, served on hot plates, and served with a happy smile. In fact, we are so pleased with our lunch, that we are about to book again with another couple. Good old fish and chips, minted lamb pie and chips, grilled fish - all delicious. Our guests were very impressed; now that's good news! We shared puddings - and two plates were provided - no fuss. Yes, excellent, and if you want to try this venue out for yourselves, book ahead in plenty of time.

We had lunch here just before Christmas and sat in the snug. It was our first time at the Hare and we received a friendly warm welcome and the food was good pub food. Be warned the portions are large! Definitely will be back with the family.

Friendly service and well cooked and well presented lunches. Good base for a walk in very pleasant surrounding countryside. Would just like to see a little choice for vegetarians.

We visited The Hare for lunch last week on a very rainy and miserable day. However, we got a very nice welcome on entering the pub.The three of us had respectively,sausage,mash with onion gravy, Woodland chicken and rice, and ham eggs and some beautifully cooked chips,which we all agreed were very tasty. As we were too full for a dessert, I had couple of cappucinos which were very nice, with plenty of foam, and my husband and sister had coke and beer. We thought the price was very reasonable and the service was great. We would definately visit again.

We visited with friends, a group of four, and we were not disapppoiinted. A typical country pub, well set out, and with friendly staff. The menu was unpretensious, mostly pub old favourites, and main and pudding priced at around £15 on the set menu, with starters a small extra. Our visit was a Tuesday lunch time and it appeared fully booked. For each of us, the paltes were hot, the food excellent quaility and attractively presented. Excellent service throughout to complement the excellent meals. A strong recommendation - but do book !!

Went there had a set menu and the starter was great. the main course was awful I had lasagne and it was cremated! Very disappointing! The set menu wasn’t great either. Poor portion sizes.

Visited for a family catch up, 8 family members all had starters and main meal, good portion size and tasty meals. If you book to eat late afternoon or early evening there if savers menu. Kids accommodated for with a children’s menu. Good selection of lagers and beers on offer.

Popped in as looking for a nice country pub/ restaurant to take my in laws to for there diamond wedding anniversary, don’t often do reviews but felt this restaurant deserved one .staff spot on, food spot on so much so booked on the night for next week

Went there in a large group for lunch. The pub was very busy but we all had a seat and our food was served hot on hot plates. We were all served at the same time. The food was excellent. I had the fish and chips which were the best I have ever had. The service was friendly and excellent. I have recommended The Hare to my friends.

Friendly service, food arrived quite quickly. Main food item first, salads, chips, veg, sides, arrived piecemeal and not with main dish element. Then any requested sauces (not already on the table).

Visited the Hare on a midweek evening. Despite knowing where it was, we missed the car park turn. It is not well signposted, but perhaps discreet is the word...

Lived in the next village for the last 20 years and never visited, Decided to go with friends for our twice yearly get together. Food was excellent and service was friendly and polite. A lovely start to our holiday.

Celebrated a family birthday at this village pub, expecting it to be quiet on a weekday evening. Glad we booked as it was busy when we arrived. If you don't know the village look for the school as The Hare is next to it.

Very friendly welcome and excellent cheerful service here. The pub has a selection of real ales kept properly.

We often go to The Hare lunchtimes and have adopted this pub as our local. The staff are always super friendly and welcoming, Simon the Landlord is great a huge dog lover as we always go with our dogs. Food is always superb!! Great varied menu always cooked to perfection and not over priced. Set in a really pretty village with some nice walks near by, well worth a visit & highly recommend this pub.

our German friends wanted a traditional English pub and food. The Hare was recommended. There were six of us and when it came to have the meals served only one server, so we had to start eating before all the food was on the table or it would have cooled down, and I had Pasta which is always fast to cool unless in a dish it was cooked in. The steaks etc came out but quite a wait for the chips and other vegetable to arrive. They enjoyed it but i do not think i will be returning very quickly.

Went with family for a meal at The Hare tonight and was very pleased with our meals. One person had the mixed grill which wasn't up to scratch but the other three meals were excellent. The Woodland Chicken was perfect, the battered cod was lovely and the ham and eggs hit the spot too. Also puddings to die for. Very helpful and welcoming staff. General ambience very good. Will be back.

Arrived for mother's day sunday lunch at 12.30. Four staff in the entrance bar and a very weak hello eventually from one of them. Waited 45 minutes for food to be served in a half full restaurant. My pan seared fish was tepid with soggy skin. On returning it this was replaced with breaded plaice which still had the skin on and was very unpleasant. Delay also meant the shared vegetables already on the table were cold. On a positive note desserts and waiters were very good. At no point did any other staff ask if everything was ok. Bill paid in full. Eventually spoke to a staff member who gave a weak apology. Disappointing. Wouldn't recommend. Won't be returning.

The food was basis, poor and overpriced.

As a new local to the village I have visited The Hare 5 times since October 18, Sunday Lunch was decent and the Steak Pie was lovely too. However since January the 3 meals I've had mid week have been a real disappointment one of them I couldn't eat and the stir fry I had last night was reminiscent of a jar stir fry sauce that had been chucked in the microwave and the noodles had turned to mush. Not sure what's gone on with the food but now unlikely to be eating there again unless the chef changes!

Food was average, and service ok. However my criticism is a dog in the restaurant on a Saturday night. I understand welcoming dogs during the day but not in a restaurant area in the evening. It was licking the food from the owners hands which we found unpleasant whilst eating.

The Hare is a lovely pub that serves exceptional food. The staff are all very friendly and approachable and the landlord is a fantastic character. He has built this place up fantastically in the years he has been here, many of his staff came with him from the previous pub he run and they are all dedicated and hard working. My wife is a vegetarian and the kitchen staff are always willing to cook something different for her if we give adequate notice to them. The food is all freshly made on the premises and you could never complain about going away hungry.

Wow what an amazing place to eat we’ve used the Harr a number of times and it never disappoints however our latest visit topped this , My sons 18th birthday meal was amazing the staff went over and above for him and we didn’t tell them before hand it was his birthday, the food was as always excellent and after asking for the bill they arrived with a slice of cake and a firework singing happy birthday, do yourself a favour and book a table you will not be disappointed.....

I've had dinners here several times. I have always appreciated the quality of the food together with good British beers. It is fine for couple, family and friends.

Went here last night with hubby and two friends. We all chose off the set menu. Two had pate starter one had the fishcake and one brie and cranberry parcels. Mains consisted of two turkey one pork and one salmon, desserts were Christmas pud and roulade. Everyone was very happy with their food. I commented that it was the best meal I had eaten out in a long time. The young waitress who served us was lovely, very friendly and pleasant. Looking forward to my next visit in the new year.

Our large party had our Christmas get together here.The food was excellent and the staff were attentive without being over bearing and could not do enough for us. Couldn't fault it.

Dont take your youngsters here if you want a good example to be set! We ate there recently and the language coming from the kitchen was horrendous. The chef was clearly bullying a junior member of staff and that kind of verbal abuse should not have to be tolerated by anyone, staff or customers. He may be able to cook a fair meal but if I was his boss he would be on a warning or out the door. I feel for the poor kitchen staff who have to work with him he clearly has an ego larger than his abilities.

I was slightly underwelmed with the food here, and the long wait was an annoyance from the start. The food is ok, but could be better. Not sure Id go out of my way to eat here again.

Went here for a birthday bash with friends, and was quite disappointed to say the least. Food was Luke warm,vegetables over cooked, and my salmon was swimming in butter, which congealed on the cold plate !!!, within minutes of receiving it.

Situated in a lovley village with sufficient parking this lovley old building is in need of some TLC but having said that we didn't go to eat the décor and the staff where welcoming friendly and efficient.

Called in here with my boyfriend on way home from work. Upon arrival first question we were asked was "Are you eating? Have you booked a table?" When we said we weren't eating (having already had dinner) the attitude of the staff totally changed. I asked where we could sit and was informed that "We could have table xx but only until 7.30".(this was about 6.30) NOT the way to create a good impression!

What a long wait we had at lunchtime - 45 minutes for baguette/snack menu. A cappuccino took 40 minutes (had to be reminded). Pate starter and main course were the same size yet £5.00 difference in price. Burnt toast. A very disappointing visit with no apologies from the staff.

Fitted 5 of us in at very short notice so off to a good start! Previously had an excellent lunch here so were keen to try an evening meal. Excellent food and service in very friendly environment and likely to become one of our favourites.

4 of use booked for a Saturday night family meal.I choose the lambs liver on the special list very tasty along with veg & chips ( My choice).My partner had a chicken course again very good.My daughter in law had a leg of Lamb she also said it was very tender and tasty.My son choose the combo where you choose any 2 meats from the list he also was very happy with his choice.

We visited this quaint village pub for Sunday Lunch. The menu was as expected: beef (top side), pork, lamb, chicken, fish, veg options...actually there was lots of chose from, too much in my opinion.

I came on a Wednesday lunch which a group of friends and we was greeted by a wonderful team! Penny and Lewis was amazing with getting us sat down and seated with drinks if I could recommend this place to anyone I would now hesitate

We called in by chance after spending endless hours on the motorway - it was a very short drive off the A14. The menu was good - and reasonably priced. The staff we very welcoming and accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble.

Shabby pub, old fashioned and nowhere to sit if you just want a drink. Staff pleasant and food ok but hygiene rating is very concerning!

Like many English pub restaurants, the Hare suffers from inconsistencies dependent on who is on duty at the time.

We booked for 14 of us to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. The snowy weather tried it's best to put us off, but the pub were open and warm and welcoming. We had a 3 course menu that had been put together especially by Greg the Head Chef so it suited all of us. The food was very nice indeed - good quality ingredients, plenty of potatoes and vegs. We were positioned in our corner of the dining room, with an open fire and it was just perfect - not too quiet and just a gentle background noise from the remainder of the pub. Simon & Penny were very helpful and were quick to respond when I needed it. All in all, a great family evening provided by a great pub/restaurant. Thank you so much...

We went to the Hare with friends a couple of weeks ago and we all loved it, the carvery was fantastic and brilliant value for money the rest of the menu consisted of really good wholesome food which really tasted like home cooked, the service was excellent and the staff friendly and efficient, this pub is a very nice place to be and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone, we will definitely be returning.

Have always loved the Hare at Loddington, have been visiting over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. Visited for sunday lunch last sunday and found the service excellent as always, shame then that the choice on the set menu for non meat eaters, was so poor, especially as there was a choice of over five meat dishes and only nut roast for myself and my sister. There was no fish choice on the menu, which we would definitely have chosen, but two pork dishes, surely one pork dish and one fish dish would have been better. Non meat eaters have always been treated as second class when it comes to restaurant food, but it was hoped that this was improving as more people choose not to eat meat. I would go back to The Hare to eat from the dinner menu, which would hopefully have fish dishes, but not for Sunday lunch, unless they take heed of this review.

We went on a Sunday at about 6.30pm - quiet but still a good atmosphere - we took our 2 month old baby and they were brilliant helping us out - keeping my dinner warm on the hot plate when I had to change her...

Very busy pre- Christmas and we hadn’t booked but luckily there was one table free for lunch. Chose the sausage panini which came with a good sized salad and chips. The sausage panini was really good and freshly cooked, frozen chips and fresh salad all for £8.95. Very good value.

I went for a Sunday lunch with some friends . The tables were well spaced out to give this pub a comfortable feeling , and as we sat down the polite and smartly dress staff soon brought us some drinks and we skipped the starters and ordered our mains . Two of us had roast pork and the others had roast beef plus a good selection of seasonal vegetables . These were all perfectly cooked . The sweets were spotted dick , apple pie and I had a raspberry cheese cake with ice cream , all home made . We came away very pleased with our lunch and have been there again . The prices compare well with other pub/restaurants locally .

Wandered off A14 on way back from weekend away and lovely walk to find a Sunday Lunch. This was a lucky find, they accommodated us despite needing table back in an hour, rushed food out. It was delicious....pork and beef....lashings of extras and lovely surroundings. They should advertise on the A14....but I guess they don’t need to.

Have now been twice and really enjoyed both times. Food was delicious, especially the Millionaires Cheesecake. Staff very friendly and attentive, prices very reasonable.

The service we received here was amazing, friendly, warm and not too much. Nothing was any trouble.

Visited again with our friends. Opted for the Pate for starters, which was delish! Rump steak was my choice for mains. It actually looked like a joint. Everything was cooked well and the service from all the staff was impeccable! Lovely interior!

Was really looking foward to visiting the hare at loddington.the meal was dreadful.sunday lunch?£11:99,mash potatoes:lumpy, veg awful, cabbage,peas carrots,very small portions, yorkshire puds like bullets, meat no taste,where were the parsnips stuffing piggy in blankets cauli flour cheese etc?rating zero, no way would go back, give me waterfront harborough,any day , same price;

Visited this pub for the first time today and was not disappointed.Very warm welcome and the service and staff were great even with my little one.I had the rack of ribs that were the best I have ever had the meat just fell off the bone and there was lots of meat rather than just bone.My husband had mixed grill quite small from what we are used to and the steak was rare rather than medium.Children's portions were super.This is a good find and will be returning.

I have recently been told that I am very allergic to dairy products, so am a little concerned about eating out. I mentioned this when I booked the table and asked if it would present a problem. I was told that it was not a problem at all. I checked the website, and the menu clearly indicates the gluten free options. I mentioned the dairy free position again when we arrived, and again, I was reassured that there would not be a problem. They had Alpro alternatives and could adapt most dishes. I chose creamy garlic mushrooms, having been told exactly as they would be cooked. My gammon steak was wonderful. An all round excellent meal. Thank you.

Booked the private room upstairs. Let me decorate with baloons during day. Pre ordered food and it was fantastic. Service was fast and efficient. Nothing too much trouble. Gave the birthday girl a treat aswell. Great place great food.

Went to the hare on a Saturday night, called and reserved a table prior. Got there and our table was ready for us. The service was very good with a nice selection of real ales, that went down well. The menu was traditional pub but the food that we had was all nice n tasted fresh.

We decided to go out for dinner without making a booking. We had visited previously just for drinks and found the pub to be welcoming.We arrived early enough to have the option of the early bird menu as well as the standard options.We ordered steak and chips, fish pie and vegetarian sausages & mash. The food arrived very quickly and was piping hot.Although the food was nice the fish pie a bit bland I think a bit of seasoning would have made a difference. For dessert we had the strawberry Eton mess cheesecake and the caramel apple pie.Yes I would go back.

My parents & I had lunch here yesterday.It was quite enjoyable.I had a chicken main course with plenty of chips & salad.The service was very good too.

Had four very good pints here of a Rutland brewery here. Friendly local good menu complete with a good wine list. Knowledgeable bar staff will return.

Took my daughter for a bite of lunch at The Hare. We both had the fish, which was lovely and hot and a generous size. The vegetables were a little sad, but edible. Good service.

Used to come here a lot. But had a few bad meals. And now found out the hygeine rating is only a 2!! Such a shame.

Four of us went to for a meal last night. The bar and restaurant service was very good as was most of the food. My friend and I ordered the Lasagne which when I have been there before has been excellent, but last night we were very disappointed with both of them. Usually it has been in served in a separate dish, but last night it was a portion which was very dry and burst in places. We have been there quite a few times and this is the only time we have not been happy although it would not stop us going there again.

Last Friday Evening 4 of us (2 couples) met at the Hare for an evening meal. The Beer was very good, the service excellent - they try really hard - and the Food was OK, not particularly good, but quite edible. The ice cream was a disappointment and the fish in the fish and chips wasn't anything to get excited about.

The best pub! It has a really family feel and the food is amazing, the roast beef just melted in your mouth. I had my son's 18th in the room upstairs and I could not asked for better service and atmosphere! Highly recommended!

It,s Storm Doris and a Thursday, you would not expect too many people to venture far in this weather, but when we arrived at the Hare at Loddington, it was very busy. This was the first time we have been here for lunch and we were not disappointed, The lunchtime menu is full of unfussy dishes, well cooked and plentiful, served with a choice of potatoes and salad or vegetables. You could if you wished chose from the main menu as my wife did and I had a meal from the lunch menu, two main courses and drinks for £22.75, bargain !!Definitely go again.

We booked for an evening with friends. We were warmly welcomed by the landlord when we arrived, and he took us to our table, gave us a wine list,and promptly took our order for drinks. It was a very nicely laid out restuarant, and the bar area was very charming. The waitress left the menus with us, to look through. There was a fair choice, most of the usual pub classics, with a couple of different things..We all decided on a starter and main course. The waitress made sure we were topped up with drinks, and really looked afer us. The food was really very nicely cooked and good size portions. Two of us had visited before, but hadnt been for sometime. I would most certainly recommend this pub, as the food and the wine was most enjoyable. I will be booking again soon!

I met some friends for lunch at The Hare as it was recommended by some regulars.I booked a table with ease over the telephone a few days in advance and were impressed by the pub's ambience and the pleasant staff.We all ordered different food from the menu and all agreed that it was delicious. The desserts were also amazing. I guess the only thing they could do here to make it absolutely perfect is to have a proper coffee machine, as my coffee was the only disappointing aspect of the whole trip.I will definitely visit again. It's rare to find somewhere where you're made to feel welcome and relaxed from the moment you arrive and be well fed to boot!
