This place with the scaffold doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s truly a wonderful place with freshly prepared food to a very high standard of quality, the enchilada wouldn’t be out of place in a great Mexican restaurant, same with the pasta in a great Italian

Looking for a place to eat on the Saturday night, the harbour was fully booked, food looked and smelled delicious, so we decided to have lunch there on the Sunday. The waitress was friendly and efficient but the food was mediocre to poor. Disappointing given what we had seen on people's plates the previous night.

I don’t know if I went here on wrong evening, but it was not a pleasant experience. The food was very good, but the service so poor I didn’t go there again. If you are placing your order and the waiter is already running away from your table it’s hard to feel welcome. And yes, I mean running, not walking in speedy pace.

My friends and I had a table booked for 7pm one of my friends felt unwell we called to advise we were tuning late to be told over the phone that a table was booked after us, we arrived at the restaurant 20 mins late to be told we could not have a starter or dessert as there was no time and we couldn't order the chicken dish as it took 30mins to cook! We ordered the food and had to repeat ourselves as music blaring and the girl could hardly hear us also she wasn't very clued up on menu! The food arrived was mediocre macaroni bland could have made better at home and it was £8.95 overpriced mush! Both our steaks were nice enough chips soggy reheats we were then approached with the bill didn't even give us the chance to ask for it and was told sorry to rush you!!!! My sister then complained about the way we were treated and she replied we have a policy she didn't care and didn't answer she just walked away from the table and avoided eye contact as we left in hindsight we should have just left at the beginning this ruined our evening! Disgusted I would not recommend this place they have no people skills at all!!!!!!!

Small restaurant close to the pier this is the latest manifestation of this particular establishment. Good menu choice and is now licensed Good choice of wines at reasonable prices, but no draught beer. Enjoyed my chicken fajitas but was padded out with courgettes presumably as vegetable fajitas on the menu and obviously saved on cooking time by adding chicken. Wine buffs amongst us recommend the white rioja.

Went in at 4pm looking for coffee and smacks... couldn't accommodate us, restaurant was empty and the Guy hummed and hawed as if he was looking at a piece of paper. He told us he had bookings for the evening and therefore could not offer a table. His attitude was shocking. Luckily Minstrels was just across the street and they could not have been more helpful, and they did have diners in! so avoid this It may only be a quick £50 sale but we were in and out within an hour, and as we were parked outside the Harbour, I took the opportunity to look in at the still empty restaurant. My mother-in-law dined here yesterday (whilst basking in the sun) afternoon before our cycle around this beautiful island. The harbour is a family-owned and run restaurant, and we were served by a lovely blonde lady (didn't manage to catch her name) who was very efficient and welcoming. Despite the large group of people being attended to, she managed to get our drinks and lunch to us in good time, and made sure we were well taken care of. She also gave us information on a festival coming up on the island soon. The chef was really superb, preparing two meals to an extremely high standard even when it was so busy. We ordered vegetable fajitas & a classic burger which came with beautiful side salad and home made chips which were probably the best I have ever tasted... and I'm not usually even remotely enthusiastic about chips! The burger was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The decor inside was lovely, really fresh and modern, but still in-keeping with the harbour theme.Thank you, we hope to be back again soon :)

Heard such good things about this restaurant and had tried several times to get a table, but always fully booked.....so when we managed to get a cancellation we were really happy. We'd been told it was under new management but that it was still very good.....Turned out to be very disappointed...!! 6 of us eating and my friend ordered a plain chicken burger and chips...a large chicken burger and 5 chips arrived. My friend cut the burger in half and there was a very large purple/pink vein running through the middle. She advised the staff who took it away and came back to say both chefs have probed and tested the burger and it was hot enough so it was cooked properly, so did she want it back...!!!!! Eh no i don't think so..! then my sister found a long black hair in her stoganoff...We are all blonde bar one but hair is spikey short and she was sitting at the other side of the table...! On pointing it out to the staff again, she said a quick sorry removed out plates and never came back to our table until we'd asked for the bill. She made a quick phone call (probably to the owner) and came back and said we've not charged for the burger..! Needless to say we won't be returning anytime soon..!!

It wasn't all that Jumbo but it still managed to hide the five (5) chips beneath it and the batter was soggy. I had two starters instead of the normal starter main. Chose the chicken pate with onion marmalade and tempura king prawns. The pate came already spread on little bread, sorry scraped on, you couldn't get the flavour of the pate it was so thinly spread. 3 king prawns in pretty tempura batter, it wasn't till 2nd mouthful, that I noticed my tongue was tingling and nipping, worked it out that the pretty red through the batter was chillies. This was not mentioned and I would not have chose this as I have 2 mouth conditions which I have to watch out for. The fajitas had chillies in it too, got to remember chillies aren't for anyone! Would have had a fish special, but obviously picked the wrong night to go

Decided to stop for some lunch here recently, and very glad I did. I ordered the 'small' fish & chips from the lunch menu, a very reasonably priced £5.75. I can be quite fussy when it comes to fish and chips, and I'm pleased to say this was easily the best I've ever had. The fish was melt in the mouth - cooked to perfection with not a bone in sight, the batter light and crispy. Delicious chunky hand cut chips (I usually prefer thin & crispy, but these worked perfectly with the fish), a more-ish crushed pea puree and a lovely home made tartare sauce (which I usually ignore, but this pot was emptied!). Fantastic value for money in a lovely setting, I'll be sure to re-visit next time I'm back on Millport!

The Harbour as the title suggests is situated on the prom of the Magical Isle of Cumbrae (Millport) I have be going to Millport since I was a wee lassie!!! and I love it.!!!The menu suits all tastes ( Cullen Skink different types of Seafood,Steaks Fish & Chips etc) young and old alike. We had lunch sitting outside whilst lapping up the sunshine. I had Tomato soup( this was fab) and crusty bread.......... my partner had homemade Cullen Skink and a lovely toastie with fresh salad ,which he wolfed down post haste.!One of the group had homemade pizza( which was fab as well) and the "wee one" who is 11 lapped up a starter and a main. Three of us washed this down with our other National Drink............mmmnn.............and the one had a lovely pot of tea.The Harbour in my opinion ,one of the best places to eat in Millport ,the choice is fab, the prices are keen, the service was fast, efficient and we were served by a lovely friendly young woman.....what more could a body asked for!!!!Pop over to Millport if you haven't been ,you'll not be disappointed.!!We are planning our next trip over............can't wait.

From the moment we arrived drookit from the thunderstorm , Helen and her staff could not have been more helpful . Towels were quickly provided for an impromptu "dry off "! , as if 2 crazy , wet people arriving by tandem was the norm !!! That could have put a dampener on the evening , but the sight of the fantastic menu soon changed the mood !! Our starters of mozzarella sticks and the deli platter titillated our taste buds , but the main event was the "piece du resistance " The Harbour special for two !! Describing the seafood experience - which arrives on a 2 layer wooden plinth- wouldn't begin to do the fresh , amazing array of perfection in seafood justice !!! Fabulous value too !! In any cosmopolitan city this hidden gem would be Michelin starred with a waiting list for tables !! BYOB adds to the atmosphere ......" YOU MUST make the effort to go !!!

Millport has several good eating establishments and this is one of the best. Lovely food served by friendly staff in relaxing atmosphere. The daily specials are wonderful and children are catered for by a menu which is child friendly and delicious. As the restaurant isn't licensed you can bring your own bottle or pop into the off license a few doors away or the pub across the small road for your alcoholic beverages. The restaurant is a must do for any visit to Millport.

High quality, very fresh and extremely reasonable prices. Had a really enjoyable meal and the fact that it is bring your own bottle (with no corkage) keeps the total tab down. Service was friendly and very efficient.Easily the best place to eat out in Millport (which isn't really saying much!) but is also up there for the west of Scotland.

Booked an early evening meal for 17 people ordering from the "party menu". We were more than impressed by the quality, selection and quantity of the feast that was presented to us by the pleasant hard working staff. With the bring your own drink policy it must make this the best value restaurant in The Firth of Clyde. Thanks to Helen and James for a memorable and enjoyable evening.P.S. if there were 6 stars on tripadvisor I would award it to this fine wee restaurant.

Visited in April for a quick lunch whilst I was on a brief stopover in Millport. Very friendly lady served me and pointed out that the wi-fi passcode on the menu was actually wrong! I had the pulled pork burger and chips which was great value. Will return next time I am on the island.

Popped in here one cold day for the first time although passed by many times. Don't know why we never went it before - it was fantastic. The decor inside was tastefully done with nice toilets. We had the lunchtime special £5, my husband had the pizza and I had soup and toastie. Portion size was good and the quality was excellent, just oozing with natural ingredients and you could tell it was all freshly prepared. The staff were very friendly and the free wi-fi was a bonus. We will deffo go back to this little gem and would recommend it to everyone! Well done the Harbour and keep up the good work. Cant wait to return.

Our hosts took us to the Irvine Watersports Club, super value for money , along with great service at the bar - very friendly and accommodating. Cosy atmosphere and refuge on a wet stormy afternoon . Dog Friendly is always a plus+

For a start, I don’t understand why a commercial building built in the late 90’s doesn’t have a lift given my guess of the average age of their clientele. We went for tea and a scone with my mum who is recovering from getting a new knee. We were told that we could have a table in the foyer cos the restaurant wasn’t accessible. They then changed their mind and told us that we couldn’t order a tea and a scone because there was already 6 people in their restaurant and it would be at least 30 minutes before they could put in a new order. There were 4 people in the empty shop, two in the foyer and presumably numerous staff in the cafe. Between them they couldn’t get us a tea and a scone. We won’t be back.

Beautiful location, delicious food with care taken to ensure dietary needs are catered for. I enjoyed a delicious bowl of Cullen Skink, with coffee and cake to complete the lunch. I will definitely remember this spot for a future visit.

Table booked on 24/12/2019 for 9 people to have lunch on 5th Jan 2019. We were told when ordering our drinks that they had only one can of diet coke!! Bad start. One hour after our arrival no food had been brought to the table. Eventually starters were served. Food average. When we asked for salad cream for a salad it was to be told that they didn't have any! I ordered fish and chips and was told they didn't have any fish ' only scampi. Attitude to customers was take it or leave it! I felt they had let us down and Dalry down. We will not go back there again.
