The Harbour Inn in Torbay

Our order kept getting pushed back, was originally estimated for 8pm delivery but our order didn’t start getting made until then. We only got half of the garlic bread we ordered and it was so crunchy and hard. The burgers were lovely though but the notes we left about so salad in the burgers was ignored.

Out of 3 meals order 1 wasn't up to scratch, They offered us a replacement and two rounds of drinks and free pudding, Been here many times couldn't fault it defo come back again Christine couldn't be more helpful 100% great customer service.

Super position and lovely views across Paignton Harbour to the beach and pier beyond....even to Torquay🌊🚣🌅🏖️!!!

Had my surprise birthday there and their catered food was gorgeous, highly recommend.....the room was plenty big enough for all my family and friends. Staff were very helpful 🙂

Been here a couple of times now while visiting. Great pub, great food and such a friendly atmosphere. Our boys love the pool table. Had food yesterday and it was absolutely amazing for the price. Couldn't fault it. Christina Elvy ( bar staff) so friendly and credit to the staff. Will always come here when visiting.

Just spent the afternoon with family what a cracking place kids loved the pool bar staff very friendly and food was top notch 3 for £18 was banging fair will defo be back. 5⭐️

Had the roast dinner, it was OK.

The pub is right by the harbour so great for a stroll.We went during the day in the middle of winter. A lovely log fire was burning. A nice homely atmosphere in the pub and great service from staff. We only had coffee and drinks

Highly recommend! We went to the Harbour Inn for lunch, and had such a lovely visit! A warm welcome when we arrived, great menu selection which was ideal with something for everyone in our group, and a good choice of drinks available. The food was really delicious, and great value, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the team were friendly throughout our visit. Would definitely recommend as a great place to eat in Paignton.

Popped in yesterday for dinner. Very welcoming, very clean and accommodated my husband's fussy eating happily. My husband and son had 2 cheeseburgers and I got 3 small plates for £18, the honey goats cheese was immaculate 👌🏼

Came in today (Sun. 19th Jan.) with my parents and partner plus 2 dogs. Lovely place, relaxing vibe, amazing food to which you can take your leftovers with you. Very friendly staff who checked back to see if we liked everything with our food which we did. Without a doubt we'll be visiting again.

Best roast I've had for ages! arrived on time and was piping hot. Just wish that there was more veggies as there wasn't really enough for two people

It would have been 5 stars if it had been hot. Generous meat portion, roasties , 4 veg and what seemed to be homemade Yorkshire pudding is just what I wanted for my Sunday roast

We live locally and always try to promote and visit as many local businesses as possible. Whilst the service and location is good, the food is very expensive in comparison to the local restaurants/pubs of the same standard.

Ok place for food and drink . would be bit better if they stop young lads vaping in the pub when people are eating.. 👍

Great Pub, Great Atmosphere, Great Staff & Management! I live locally and it’s a strong favourite of mine. Everyone is so friendly and kind, it makes such a different and makes me feel welcome.

Our food took an hour to be delivered and when it arrived it was cold. We ordered the baked camembert, which was a mistake. It was not great at all. We won't be ordering from here again.

Great place to stop for food or drink. Lots of beer options available and the menu has got a good selection of food. Nice lighting throughout and lots of tables to accommodate. Great for families and individuals. Free parking for 1 hour opposite, so it’s perfect to stop in for some food. There is also a roof top beer garden with lots of tables and stunning views over the harbour. Definitely recommend this place for a quick bite or for the family.

Coffee not expensive but not particularly good either 😕 🙃 wouldn't have another . Can't comment on food as I didn't eat. upstairs terrace was nice

Sun 03 Nov '24 Christening party: Courtenay and the team were brilliant. The room was ready for us to prepare it from 10am. Courtenay was on hand and very welcoming and easy to talk to. When we all came back after the Christening the staff were great, seeing to everyone at the bar for drinks and answering general questions anyone had. Buffet....very good. The selection looked good on paper, in reality it did not disappoint! Not the usual mundane buffet offering, Harbour Inn's very well presented and interesting fare went down great with everyone and they also provide separately for special requirements. Fabulous value for money. A BIG thank you to Courtenay and her team for helping to make a special celebration day so seamless and joyful.

Great place ,friendly staff with good food

I’ve had a breakfast here before which was 10/10. I had the Sunday roast as well which was lovely. Had to wait a good 40 mins for the roast but it was made worth it in the end.

Great food, large portion sizes and good value.

Food here is OK but definitely not somewhere we would go out of our way to come back to eat. Cocktails were acceptable. The upstairs outside terrace is lovely in the summer

FAB Sunday lunch after a lovely beach walk. Greeted, seated & table service by a lovely waitress Evie.. Great value £13, choice of chicken breast, belly pork or beef. Huge yorkshires, roast spuds, roast parsnips & gravy served on plate. Veggies.. Red cabbage, mashed swede, green beans, carrots & a seperate pot of cauli cheese all served seperately, plentiful & 😋

Held our wedding reception here 2 weeks ago. Huge shout out to Courtney and her team nothing was too much trouble the decor was superb and the food excellent couldn’t have wished for a better venue. Thank you guys so much for making our day even more special.

Nice pub with great views over the harbour. Stopped for lunch & sat on roof terrace which had a great view. Interior is roomy & well-decorated, staff all really friendly & chatty. Food & drinks priced how you'd expect for a touristy spot. Food was good, fish & chips is a hearty portion, burger little smaller, kids portions also decent, £48 for three meals & drinks. Would come again.

Great location but the slowest service ever starters came out after 5 minutes then have to wait 40 minutes for mains and there is no one eating food in the place. Very disappointing just 3 staff behind the bar singing

Came here at 2PM, and were served immediately, no queue or fuss, got oir drinks and were notified that the last food orders would be at 2:15PM. We decided to order quickly, and I personally went with the double cheeseburger. Within 15 minutes, our food was served and it all came out at the same time. Food was piping hot, and we quickly dug in. The notes I have ablut the burger, is it had a very strange taste I have never had before which I thoroughly enjoyed, I can only assume it was the cheese as I didn't taste the cheese in the burger, but nonetheless it was the best pub burger I have had. For the price I can't recommend the place, but if it is a special occasion, it is an absolute must.

Staff were very friendly & helpful the price of the drinks was above average but being close to the harbour & being more of a pub that's more focused on serving meals & providing sports on a number of TVs I wasn't surprised. Lovely interior & it also has a pool table. Didn't try the food so I can't really comment on that but it smells good.

We went to the Harbour Inn earlier today as we were looking for somewhere to have a late breakfast/brunch before an early cinema booking. The Harbour did not disappoint us. It was well priced and the food I have to say was delicious!!! In fact one of the best breakfasts we have had for a while. We both had the full breakfast, one large, one small and all the ingredients were really flavoursome and very nicely presented. We would love to go back and now try the Sunday roast. Thanks Harbour Inn.

Burnt food, begrudging refund of children's food (argument because one child had taken one bite out of a burger before realising it was burnt), no discount for chicken burger that had to be recooked as first one was overcooked, tough and had a burnt bun. We had to get cutlery ourselves (not a, 'get your own cutlery' pub, they just forgot).

Meet with friends children meal sausage and mash needed some gravy but when asked if we could have some they say sorry we can't do that so you tell me you don't keep gravy in the seafood dish not much fish in it for 2 people 🤔. We were put off by a dog that kept barking, which was very off-putting when trying to talk. Also, when ordering, we were not asked if there was any foodallergy. Which l think now you have to ask Did ask if everything was OK but didn't clear the table very quickly after we had finished. We would go back next time we are on Paignton.

After such late notice being let down by another venue Courtney went beyond and made everything happen within a couple of days! The room was amazing. Amazing staff amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Can’t thank the team enough!

I have to say i love this this place in whole the food atmosphere and service was outstanding i had the fish chips and mushy peas with the homemade tartar sauce absolute quality would recommend highly.

came here for my parents silver wedding anniversary. atmosphere was lovely and very pretty. the food came just over an hour after we ordered. the staff and general service was polite and quite good. however, the meals were served separately (the first 3 came first then the next 5 came just over 5 mins later). Food was warm but not piping so we couldnt wait for the rest of the food to come out to start eating. Pizza was soggy. burger was plain with no sauces offered and all the food needed loads of extra salt and were not full portions for the price we paid. I had katsu curry. It was nice but the taste was bland and you could only feel the spice. Also there was not enough sauce to cover the chicken and rice. the chicken itself was delicious and well done but there was not enough rice with it and half the plate was the salad considering it wasnt the main meal and rather just a side. we overheard that they had run out of rice and they couldn't make any more katsu currys, so perhaps thats why. Wasnt the worst meal but a bit of a let down considering the occasion and the prices we paid. drinks were pretty good though.

Great place. Decent food Easy with kids im a busy area. Cheap pool table inside for them to wait about with. Price is best in the town. Seriously reccomend these lot. Will be back. Also every member of staff on that weekend. Your all top. And was well impressed with how they were with kids. Considerinf the busy stresfful hours. Please use these guys. Have visited here many times, it's a fantastic spot to sit and enjoy the view, if you are up on the top deck. We have only drunk inside once, hence the four stars, couldn't fault the food, very nice, a little small on the portion size for the fish and chips we had, but, very nice.

The food was awful. The picture was of a double cheese burger. Honest review. My husband said it literally felt like earing charcoal. The burnt bit is "cheese". We didn't take a photo of the chicken burger. Description was a creamy cheese sauce. This again was burnt. Not just the cheese but the chicken burger. Awful. The waitress did ask if all was ok and we did tell her but not for anything to be done I.e. money back. That isn't why we had told her it was bad.

Where do i start?? As soon as we walk in, we're stood there waiting to be served for approximately 10 minutes, there were staff dotting around but seem to be doing jack! No one knew what they were doing and looked constantly lost, clearly untrained. Finally ordered food which was botched up, ordered double cheese burger, which was cooked to a crisp, and a chicken burger with cheesy garlic bread. How can u get it wrong? Quite easily in the harbour pub it seems. The bread was dry as a bone and no cheese, we were offered a pot of cheese on the side haha its ridiculous 🤣 not once did anyone come over to see if our meals were OK, as they obviously didn't care. Foods not cheap here for what you get. Well disappointed, my advice go to the chippy next door for guaranteed satisfaction. 😂😂😂😂 for probably half the price. Definitely wouldn't recommend unless ur just drinking. By the way, why do the owners comment about the nice reviews and totally ignore the ones that are clearly not happy? Clearly aren't bothered 🙄 great business ur running 🙄

Good service. Food was good too. Although, I was there for the lobster butter fries. The butter only appeared at the bottom of the bowl with small amounts, but tasty.

Cracking location overlooking the harbour had a couple of beers with food to share and watched the tide come in sat upstairs on balcony and did lots of people watching!

Food was adequate, average at best

As a sports bar this place appears fine but the food I was served was woeful! Lamb shank, mash and greens; the mash, greens and "stocky" gravey was good but the lamb shank was as tough as old boots! If i didn't know better id say the chef tried to cook this to order in 20 mins or so. Im no chef but I cook these bad boys at least once a month and its impossible to balls them up; brasise them low and slow for 3hrs AND yes I know these can be precooked and very easily reheated for pubs/restaurant. When I paid for the food i ordered and paid for a pint and half of 1664. I went to the bar for the half and was asked by the young female member of bar staff "can you prove you have the half"......the pubs quiet and im on my own drinking/"eating"! thankfully have the receipt..you might think she's doing her job but if she was I would not have to wait and try to get her attention for what felt like 5 mins in a very quiet pub whilst she was not serving anyone. The question is would I recommend this pub? Fine for a drink but id stay away from the food. This is an honest review trying to show positives as well warning other customers about poor food I was served.

Ok, the food's not as good as the Harbour Lights over the road, bit the portion sizes are decent, the meals have always been tasty, and it's generally half the price of the HL. And as others have mentioned, there's a great view of the harbour from the upper terrace. What's not to like?

Atmosphere was good as the football was on. Ordered online at the table, waited 15 mins before going to ask if the drinks where on the way but they hadn't picked the ticket out the printer yet, think there was 4 members on the bar. Food came shortly after and we all enjoyed that, pizza, chicken burger. Nice time and nice food, would just request a bit better Service

Just wonderful, the food was excellent and the views of harbour were amazing, Would recommend a visit not just for the food But the atmosphere , the staff were friendly and asked the bar staff to thank the chef as food was by far the best I had in Paignton.

The pub has great seats on a roof terrace and a good selection of drinks available. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, however, we didn't necessarily enjoy the food. Would come back for drinks though!

We have eaten here a few times now, fantastic value for money. Variety, portion size, customer service all brilliant. Dog friendly and doggie ice-cream, great touch. Lovely gesture of a bottle of bubbly, after my partner proposed on the roof terrace! Thank you very much! Would definitely recommend!

Had fish and chips cost 15 pounds nice fish white and tasty. Chips nice too. Service ok. We were there on a Saturday eve and at 9 pm music which was good. Has an upstairs outside area

My food wasn't good lamb shank looked beautiful but tough as old boots smash had hard bits uncooked not enough gravy but hubbies pork belly meal was beautiful so maybe a 1 off would give it another go though upstairs on balcony lovely view

Waited over 30mins for food in almost an empty pub and when it arrived it just warm . Young people sitting at the bar swearing and vaping . Barman said nothing . Will not be coming here again

A very welcoming approach, even though we hadn't booked a table. The food was fantastic, even though they did get our order a little but wrong, but it was soon corrected. We also would have liked a baylies to finish the meal, but unfortunately they had ran out of stock. So a 2nd glass of chardonnay it was. I would still highly recommend this place and come back again

Food was, well, terrible. I'm pretty sure the fish I had was frozen. Batter was soggy and mushy, really disappointed. Cant fault the service or the staff, but the food was awful, this pub is basically a Wetherspoons.

The food was divine. Cannot fault it at all. We had king prawn taco’s and the 3 small plates: halloumi fries, stir fried steak and baked Camembert as well as a side of fries. Now, I’m bearing in mind that it was bank holiday and there’s a staffing crisis in hospitality at the moment, so nothing is technically the staff’s fault. The service was good, it was just so slow. We booked our table for 18:45pm and arrived at 18:30. We tried to order on the QR code but it wouldn’t go through, saying “payment declined” when trying to use Apple Pay. Never mind, I went to the bar to order to be told they had about an hour wait on food. Now, this place wasn’t busy. There was a table of 9, a table of 6 and a couple of tables of two including ours that I could see waiting (and I went for a walk around the whole pub), so the wait is because they didn’t have enough kitchen staff on… fine, no bother. We’re on holiday, let’s have a drink and a chat. We got fed at 8pm… about and hour and 20 minutes after we ordered which again, fine due to lack of staff. The staff I interacted with were great. The young lad waiting tables was lovely although, he didn’t have a clue what was on the plates when dropping them off which I found quite funny. The food was absolutely stunning. The king prawn tacos were incredible. The Camembert was baked to perfection. The stir fried beef was gorgeous (a little too saucy and a little too raw in places but was still beauts) and the halloumi fries were stunning. Had they had enough staff on, this would have been a 5 all day long.
