The Harbour Brewers Fayre in Carrickfergus

Monday night me and my wife after fishing really hungry, we are past this restaurant going in sittang have a meal ,my wife have fish and chips I have a mixed grill, we have been waiting about 40 minutes fo r our meal , the waitress put our foot on the table, the both dish terrible looking, specialty fish and chips ,totally black ,look like the waste oil cook it , i took the picture , I said to the waitress, I said I'm sorry I can't take this, looks really terrible , she said to me do you want to change something else, i say No thank you , I said to her me and my wife can share the mixed grill together, she took away the fish and chips, about 5 minutes later, she left fish and chips the money on the table, not even say sorry, and we are starting to eat mixed grill, you can see in the picture,the beef is black the chicken is cold, the onion ring is black we only eat two sausages and some chips, I saw another waitress clean beside our table,I said can I see the manager, the waitress said, she said the manager was serving you eary on , I understand now the waitress put the meal on my table she is the manager, I am really surprised ,why the big bar restaurant like this have a manage like this , she must have very good experience to be a manager, a meal look like this Still serving to the customer table , I think it's really terrible, I'm very very disappointed, after our meal, I went to the bar speak The lady behind the bar, and tell her exactly what happened, she said sorry, would you like a drink ,I said no thank you very much it's not your fault

First time coming here. We'll be back. The food was lovely. Our server was friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere. I had beer battered onion rings, side salad and loaded potato dippers with apple juice. My friend had the Sunday carvery dinner. We enjoyed our meal. Portions are massive and the price is great.

We had a meal here during the busy 12th July celebrations period. Service was good and food lovely but we found it a bit more expensive than we would have liked.

Very pleasant - we're not usually chain fans but after a walk along the harbour it was convenient to have a bite and a drink here saving us cooking at the airport BnB on our final night in the beautiful Northern Ireland. The food was really tasty and both food and drinks were decently priced. Recommended.

My son and I booked the Premier Inn/Brewers Fayre breakfast buffet. Having visited several Premier Inns all around the UK, we had high expectations for breakfast this morning, but unfortunately, this particular location did not deliver. The buffet breakfast was £10.99 per person and consists of cooked items (sausage, bacon, eggs, mushroom, beans, tomato and hash browns), as well as cereal, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, toast and crumpets, pain au chocolate and croissants. The only eggs on offer were fried eggs and there were no pork sausages, only beef. At other locations, they'll have porridge or granola and Yogurt parfaits, but not here. I made myself one instead. Every drink out of the coffee machine tasted exactly the same and all of the breakfast juices were served room temperature instead of chilled. I don't know one person who likes pure orange juice at room temp!! The very worst aspect though is how disgusting the ladies toilets are. Everything is dirty looking and so run down. It looks like the original locks on the stall doors have been replaced with smaller locks, and the holes left behind haven't been filled in so if someone was inclined, they'd get a good look at you using the toilet!! Definitely one of the poorer Premier Inn experiences I've had!

I absolutely love this place. the food is fantastic for the price. The staff are extremely kind and helpful. The play area is clean, tidy, and well maintained. It's pretty quiet, also making it ideal if you don't like people staring at your kids if they make a slight noise. 100% recommended for.anyone that can't shell out £££'s for a meal.

Grest meal and a couple of pints only thing was toilets could do with a revamp no soap to wash ur hands 🤔

Food was good, drinks were good, and service was surprisingly good. The kids area was excellent and allowed us some time to eat in peace. Will definitely return. Highly recommended, especially if you have small children.

We are always made very welcome. Food is good and always warm and brought quickly. We were here recently for my son's birthday. I mentioned it and the management brought him a bag of sweets, put a candle in his dessert and sang happy birthday. Couldn't recommend it here enough! Carvery on a Sunday is fantastic value too

We came here for Sunday lunch and needed to do a special needs order. We tried to order a kids' meal but couldn't change the sides to onion rings, which was fine. Then, after reordering an alternative and paying, I realised that the waitress had ordered both meals by mistake. On pointing this out, she was very rude to my mum, accusing her of not explaining it correctly. In the end the correct meal was ordered and it was fine. The meals were nice, well cooked and hot. There's a good range of options on the menu, and there were some nice views over to the castle and harbour.

I visited The Harbour Brewers Fayre with my fiance, her sister with her partner and their daughter for dinner. We all had something different and yet we all enjoyed our meals, including their daughter who is my niece. My niece is VERY picky when it comes to food and usually leaves a lot behind, but ate the LOT!!!

Play zone for the kids and refillable drinks make it great for a catch up on a rainy day!

Staying at the Premier Inn for a weekend of birthday celebrations. Booked a meal for 12 people, 1 with dietary requirements Sarah the restaurant manager went above and beyond to assist us. She is an absolute credit to the company.

I enjoyed eating there. I used the 'meal deal' with Premier Inn and was good value. The service was excellent as was the breakfast and dinner which we used for four days.

Bill was £32 bit costly for burger and small portions of chips just 2 people

Food was ok, we were only had breakfast!

This is not a restaurant, this is a typical dive... I remember how during the planned pandemic they didn't let me in because I didn't have vaccinations against COVID-19. It's a pity they don't do it anymore because what I saw would have missed the stained carpets, it's a total disaster. It's a mess.

Food is as you would expect, not Michelin star but tasty and lots of it. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and the surroundings were warm and clean. The views of the harbour from the dining room raise it about the level of most Premier Inns. The last I stayed in had a view of a roundabout and a hardware outlet store.

Ambience here is lovely. The staff are very friendly and the evening meals were nice. The breakfasts were excellent.

A wonderful day spent for Christmas dinner. Sarah and her team of staff make it a great experience so attentive especially Donna she is like Sarah in that there is nothing too much. The determination to help with me being a wheelchair user is great.

Went for lunch to brewers fayre the harbour carrickfergus on boxing day 2023 for their carvery, the food and service were excellent portions were enormous would really recommend.

Not one of the better days. Booked days in advance for a birthday dinner. Imagine my astonishment when told there was no Sauvignon Blanc, returned to table and my wife asked for mini prosecco instead. None in the chiller. Would you believe this? We left and dined across the road. Haven't darkened their door in 5 years.

As pensioners me& hubby enjoy a treat and today was at brewers fayre,food was delicious and service excellent.lovely warm atmosphere when you go in restaurant at anytime.

quite disappointing. the staff were nice enough but the food was honestly awful. tasteless, and the plates were roasting to touch which usually means it was all microwaved. I dont like to leave a poor review but just being honest. lost my appetite for days after it.

We went down on Tuesday (Halloween) for dinner. The staff were friendly even when busy: they were setting up for a Halloween party. It was great to see it so busy and full of kids having fun. We got nachos to share for the starter and they were delicious, not soggy and the cheese sauce was super tasty. I got the big stack burger and my friends went for the mixed grill, hot dog and smothered chicken. All was delicious and the burger was better than a Big Mac - two big patties, rather than the skinny ones McDonald’s give. 10/10

Orderd mixed grill.. Steak was burnt to a char..peas wer as hard as marbles complete order not fulfilled... Partner orderd fish and chips and the batter was raw and the fish actually had some scales on it...wen we tried to get the waitress attention she kept turning around and walked away.. We gave up and went to walk out as we did I said to the fella that the food was a disgrace.. He said he would let chef know then the waitress said to him yea ther food was burnt etc.... Bloody disgrace...

Clean and tidy and priced to suit everybody.

Been for the buffet breakfast a few times, usually pretty average but it’s cheap and it’s unlimited hot drinks from the machines. Good option for family’s looking to save money

Terrible service. Booked a table for 2 with my disabled dad and specially asked for a high chair on my booking. We where left standing for 5 minutes plus not know where our seat or High chair was. Terrible experience will never be back. Food isn't even that nice we just went there because there was a play area for kids and even it wasn't open. So we walked out and went somewhere else

Visited there yesterday for a meal as previously food had been good. Yesterday it was disgusting my husband and I had ribs and battered haddock.....greasy with soggy chips. Should have complained but didn't.... won't be returning.

We'd been to Brewers Farye in Carrickfergus several years ago, while staying at the connected Premier Inn. Food and Atmosphere were pretty good and we were planning to try again. Entered the restaurant and waited, no booking so didn't want to have any issues if full. Member of staff, said I'll be right with you, she was carrying food so thought no issues. She then returned to kitchen with the food and after coming out of rear area, proceeded to serve a customer who was at the bar. Said customer went to bar after we'd arrived and we'd been acknowledged by waitress. Looked at each other and walked out. Got better service and food up the road. The bar was nearly empty for a Bank Holiday Friday night and limited number of staff

Avoid eating here if you like food. The last time I was there was over 3 years ago, and I was disappointed then. The front house staff were friendly and pleasant, much like the last time. Thought why not give it a go could have improved... oh, how wrong can you get. Ordered a mixed grill and was asked how I wanted the steak "medium rare." I said well when the food turned up, I kid you not the steak was overcooked unseasoned and to be honest I've seen boot leather look more appetising, the chicken was dry and flavourless the fried eggs were rubber and overcooked , I'm sure they were from the breakfast left overs the way the rigamortis was set in, and the pepper sauce was just awful it would not surpriseme if it was from an out of date colmans packet. I don't expect 5* Michelin food from restaurants like this, but I do expect to be able to enjoy my meal. Can I ask the managers of the hotel or restaurant to give the kitchen staff an option to either sign a legally binding contract to never go into a kitchen and cook ever again and take a different career path or face a firing squad in the car park.

Wonderful food, is self ordering at the bar then they bring your food at the table, coffee and tea unlimited 😋

The children in our family love the play area, which is one of the main reasons we visit this restaurant. Abigail met us when we arrived and took us to our table, nothing was too much trouble for her. All the staff we encountered this evening were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back 😀

Staff mostly helpful but guy took our order pathetic. Asked kids refillable didn't do, asked for chips didn't do and waited 15 mins yet never appeared. Very unfortunate Breakfast all u can eat is decent value but very poor selection, no scrambled egg no potato bread and the weirdest sausages ever For the price its not overly bad but when you remember pre covid how good it was its definitely not good.

Food tastes pretty good. There is one particular women who is very kind, friendly, helpful and talkative. I recommend to order before six o'clock on the 2 for 1 menu, as you can get a starter or dessert for £2.49 and 2 meals for £10.49. My personal favourite is the cheeseburger.

We booked online fir 10.15 as breakfast us served up to 10.30. When we arrived there was nobody at the desk and I had to disturb a chap behind the servery who was doing openwork. We paid for unlimited breakfast. There were 6 sausages left , overdone bacon, black pudding dripping in grease, overdone bacon etc etc. The coffee machine needed cleared and it was just awful. To be honest we have highly recommended thus to our friends before as it was fab! We will eat here again but please please remember if you serve breakfast, it needs to be quality during the time frame of opening. Not a good experience guys, but we will be back

Loved it beef a little dry. I got the cavery which only costs just over £11 so not too bad.

There is a children's play area by the dining room don't come if you want a quite lunch children are very loud they need to be told to quieten down

Food tasted like it all came from the freezer , nothing tasted freshly made. We would probably return for a drink if in the area but definitely not the food.

Sunday carvery wasn't very good. Roast beef was so tough we couldn't cut it with a knife. Parsnips were really hard and under cooked. The rest of it was okay not great and luke warm. Not impressed with the service either- took ages to get served a drink. Expensive for the poor quality. Won't be back.

Breakfast was busy and there was no croissants, no butter... the waitress was run off her feet trying to fill items. Not her fault, more staff required at peak times.

Good location, good food. My second visit here . Staff are polite,friendly and inviting. Don't know all there names but one in particular Lauren I think, very polite, chatty and always smiling and made you feel at home. Would recommend this place to all. Can't wait for my 3rd visit next month.

We were greeted by Nathan at the door and was very clear on how everything worked. Very lovely gentleman. Heather came and checked on us to make sure everything was OK and I honestly couldn't fault 1 thing. The food was piping hot and seen the chef come out a few times to change things over. The breakfast here this morning was outstanding, the eggs where to die for absolutely perfection . The hash browns were nice and crispy. Well done to the chefs. The price range is fantastic to, couldn't believe we could have anything we wanted for that price. Would definitely recommend breakfast and will be definitely returning in the near future

Nice enough food, but very disorganised and slow service. Possibly short staffed, but still very slow to be seated (and I had pre booked) and was eating food before drink order was brought. (Drinks ordered before the food)

Had a wonderful meal at The Harbour, the staff are friendly and pleasant, I was shown to the table by Sophie who was lovely, I went for the smothered platter which was really tasty and the selection of kids meals is brilliant and such good value. The service on the till by Erin was swift and she gave me good advice about adding sauces to complement my meal. Our food was swiftly brought out by Heather L who went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we needed. I will definitely be back!

We come here on a regular basis as the staff are always friendly and the food is good. There’s lots of variety on the menu and the cocktails are delicious. We enjoyed a meal here yesterday and the new menu options are great. You can’t fault the price and portions. Until next time!

Out for a birthday meal with 3 friends, couldn’t have asked for better Service or quality of food. Food arrived promptly and our waitress took our order, with a few changes to sauces etc, with a smile and polite & cheerful attitude. Will definitely be back

Came in for breakfast this morning with our grand daughter. The manager was fantastic. We wasn't aware that children eat for free when we buy a full breakfast and I think that's an amazing thing to do for parents, especially considering how expensive everything is these days. Highly recommended this restaurant for many things, value for money, free play area, beautiful view of the castle, helpful staff and a really nice cooked breakfast. The sausage is by far the nicest around here.

Lovely steak. Good value for money

I arrived without booking and was told I could wait for 30 minutes or eat in the bar, which I opted to do. There is a good selection of gluten free meals on the menu but unfortunately when I went to order, they'd run out of chicken and burger buns so it made it much more restrictive. If it hadn't been for the attention of the woman on the till who picked out a new burger in a bowl combo with a side salad I probably would have left and eaten elsewhere. The food was very nice and I would use this place again.

We have 3 kids under 5 and the free soft play area is a great addition to the resturaunt. The food is good, wife loves the tikka masala, kids over the goujons and burgers are good too. We can sit and eat and watch our kids play too. Aye we like here as it's the only place where we can get peace to eat our food and relax. Staff are really friendly and helpful too so all good all around

The waitress Abbie who attended my table was very attentive and friendly great service which you don't get to often elsewhere we had a wonderful experience and that was all down to Abbie 😀

We waited 1hr30mins for our food after being told it would be a 30min wait. The food was a bit grey and luke warm when it came out. Thankfully the play area kept the kids happy while we waited but the manger should have been on the ball offering free desserts or coffees.

Clearly much busier than expected on a Monday night, but service was incredibly slow, with only one till for ordering and s long, long queue. Food was reasonably priced, but when it finally arrived the chips were cold and the salad warm. Guinness was good though.

Struggling to give 2 stars here but I'm feeling generous.... *Correction* I couldn't do it. Changed to 1 star. I'm amazed at all the 5 star reviews!! How!? Went for kids treat and food took an hour to arrive, and then arrived cold. Peri-peri and other advertised sauces were all replaced with barbeque sauce, if you wanted it or not. There is a free kids play area so decided to give it another try. The second time we visited the food arrived a lot quicker but it had somehow gone down in quality from being passable to being absolutely disgusting. Vegetarian smothered "no-chicken" was an inedible lump of shoe leather with some cheap cheese slice on top. Possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever tried. The fish with the fish n chips still had the skin still on when battered. Horrible. Even the chips, usually a saving grace, were somehow ruined. The best meals are the kids meals, pizza or cheesy pasta, although availability varies. Garlic bread is not great. There is a soft play area, pleasant staff, and free refills on soft drinks and coffees, for that, and only that, 2 stars. I'm thinking now 2 stars may be too generous.... **Correction** I couldn't do it. Changed to 1 star.

Food and service are very good staff friendly and helpful
