The Harbour Bar in South Ayrshire

This is only my second time here (the other way two years ago) and I've lived it both times. The atmosphere has been buzzing each time and the bar staff are cracking (they know how to serve more than one customer at a time, for starters!).

Popped in for a pint of best in the afternoon, liked the beer and the oldy worldly feeling, so booked a table for that night I had the steak chips and homemade onion rings large portion but a good choice wife had the mac and cheese again good portion and arrived well presented and hot. Staff welcoming, friendly, and attentive.

Good atmosphere beer was excellent on this occasion. 2 cask ales now on .

Was lucky enough to stop at the Harbour on steak night. My steak was delicious and cooked to perfection! The chips were good but the onion rings were amazing! The atmosphere was awesome, full of locals watching football and enjoying some beers. I’d highly recommend this place! Come out and support your local businesses!

Went for a late lunch a few weeks ago on a Sunday and they were happy to accomodate us despite it being busy. Service was excellent and the food was lovely. Great kids menu. Best pint of Guiness I have had in a long time too and I have recently been to Dublin! Would definitely recommend.

Stopped in here for a couple of pints and wings after our ferry was canceled. The wings were great and the beer was cold! We would visit again!

Waited over 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me, although 3 waiting staff attended to tables next to me? Baffling and not good enough, usually a great wee pub, hopefully a one time experience

A great friendly Pub restaurant that offers super generous portions of food. Could not fault the friendly staff and their Chefs, beer garden at back large and comfy. Live music at the weekends and some week nights.

The last time I visited was not just a 4/5 review of the place in 2019, but numerous times post pandemic around 2021. After seeing my positive review, I decided to return for the delicious steak. 1. We called to book on 8 September 2024, a Saturday. We were told no booking needed; 2. As we were coming from an hour away, we arrived before dinner service closed, as per website stating 9pm. We arrived 830pm. 3. On asking a young girl outside the kitchen, she immediately replied that the kitchen is closed. This was as orders were coming out of the kitchen to other diners. She did not go in to request if this was the case or if food had run out. I would suggest you don’t advertise what you cannot deliver. A very disappointing experience. Never again.

On way to Prestwick was looking for dog friendly place to eat, this met requirements. Beer garden at rear, a bit strange as overlooked by houses. A domino competition was taking place so quite noisy though good fun. A well run town pub probs more suited to locals rather than visitors. I choose the steak pie very reasonably priced at £13.00 Choice of chips (frozen) or potato's l opted for the chips which were ok. Steak pie plenty meat and nice gravy came with veg. All in all good value

Food was delicious and the lady that waited on us was brilliant with our dogs, great food, great service, will definitely come back if I'm back this way again.

Had a lovely meal today but the staff omitted to point out our table was reserved ! When the time came we were asked to leave. Unfortunately we didn’t realise that we had to vacate the table . We asked for an alternative table but were told no availability. ! The manager then couldn’t care less that we had spent a long time and the bill was £62 . So will not visit ant my time soon

Visited as a family of 5, really friendly staff and 10/10 staff, already planning our next visit to try the rest of the menu.

Went for Dinner last night with my partner .Been going here for a few years and staff and food always excellent.Unfortunately last nights dinner disappointed me .I asked for Prawn dinner and was served a lot of chips which took up the bulk of the plate and a few prawns on top .The last time I loved the Prawn dinner with rice and salad assumed same .I do not eat chips unfortunately! Asked if I could get another dinner without chips which came with a salad and was lovely .Was charged for 2 dinners .But manager eventually after speaking about the chip dinner deducted it from our bill .Thanks .And now barred ! It was not a complaint but My Dinner was 95% chips .Sorry but customer has to say and manager should not take it personal

We enjoyed a nice couple of evenings in the beer garden with our dog. We had hoped to have food, but there was nothing suitable for vegans on the menu.

Staff were friendly, food was fast, place is dog friendly and there's a nice beer garden out the back.

Had lunch here on a day trip to Troon. Plenty of choice on the menu, portions generous and food good. Dogs welcome too - service great - recommended.

A good afternoon in The Harbour Bar, albeit I didn't reach the dizzy heights of High Command. Food, drinks and service all up there with the best! Cider drinkers are much misunderstood. Great place, go for it!

Pleasantly surprised. We had the roast beef Sunday lunch which was lovely and well worth the money. Can’t comment on other dishes but they did look nice and plentiful. The menu had a really good selection . We will be back !

The food was great when it arrived, but we waited almost an hour without any word of apology, it wasn't even busy. Make sure you have aplenty of time.

Nice atmosphere. Very busy as bank holiday weekend. Good range of beers. Dog friendly, and it also has a beer garden. Didn't have anything to eat on this occasion, but everything that was served looked decent.

Went to the Harbour Bar for a drink accompanied by my wife on Saturday, the hospitality from staff was so good we decided to stay for lunch. Superb food served with a smile.Would definitely return, highly recommend.

Came here with our daughter and puppy for Sunday lunch. Delicious,well cooked food with large portions. Puppy was given a bowl of water and fussed over. Friendly staff. Recommend booking as its very busy. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love getting into the Harbour bar for a few drinks and food that’s well above the rating of “pub grub” Food is always amazing and staff are only too happy to help. Great place for banter and drinks or a lovely meal with the family. Great beer garden for summer also. Huge screen for live sports and music too. If you get the chance GO. Can’t wait to get back.

Doesn't look much from outside but what a fabulous bar on the inside . Really friendly staff , we didn't have food but it looked fantastic and the plates going back were all empty . A proper local where tourists like us were made more than welcome . 👌

The best pub in Troon. Lovely staff, manager and owner. Very friendly and easy to make friends if you’re out of town. The best Sunday roast I have had in ages. Amazing roast potatoes!!!! They play live sport and there is live music during the week and on Saturdays

Outstanding kitchen. Big props to whoever is turning out the scran. Just for a change, someone in there knows how to cook and care about what they send out. They will need to take care to maintain standards though.

Saw the reviews so popped in following our walk along the beach. Brilliant food, service impeccable. Ryder cup golf on and loads of tv screens so if that’s not your scene maybe not great, but it was ours. Absolutely fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Considering it was a wet Wednesday in September, The Harbour Bar was very busy. Food and beer were excellent, service was spot on and there was a pleasant atmosphere about the place.

Fabulous bar. Dog friendly, brilliant food…. Chicken wings are amazing!! lovely staff, great atmosphere. Tables can be reserved. It does get very busy, so best to do this. Sky sport in both bars & live music most Saturdays. Near the marina, frequented by visitors & locals. Outside garden which is lovely in the summer.

Attended the weekly jam session, some of the best local talent on view. Get down enjoy the music, join in if you want 👍👍

Quaint coastal bar and restaurant with marine memobilia in Troon. The day's special Monkfish and Prawns linguine was done to perfection. Delicious cream sauce with a mild chilli flavour on bed of pasta with garlic bread as sides. Yum

Dreadful they are highly judgemental of anyone with or who has addiction issues banning them and their mates yet louts are welcome if the ownership like them.they act on tickle tackle from right wing extremists who they are friends with on deciding who to ban.pathetuc they don't base their judgements on concrete evidence and instead rely on rumours thar have no basis .I wouldn't go in this racist establishment if u paid me

Just popped in for a beer. Sat in the lovely beer garden and bumped into friends from East Kilbride. Small world. I had a Tennents 60/s as you dont see it very often. Went done well.

I've been a several times every time I've gonna come with a big group the food is magnificent a really good price staff are lovely and the atmosphere is very nice it's not like an Old Man middle-age hipsters lol

A proper pub with a good menu and a beer garden. Great service , the food was piping hot and delicious. We spent a lovely, chilled afternoon having a few drinks outside.

Fantastic homely pub. Had the chicken gyros which were amazing, especially the chilli sauce, and really friendly staff and locals added to the atmosphere.

First visit to this pub after a google search of places to eat in Troon. Very impressed- food was excellent. Service was great, staff very friendly. Lovely place to eat/drink. Will definitely return and would highly recommend

This place was exactly as the other reviews said which is why we went & I'm glad we did. Lovely staff, the waitress was trying to make my partner feel welcome by speaking a few words in Spanish, good food & service. Great location near our hotel as well. I'm usually very picky with eating beef but not one chewy bit. Lovely pint of home with Tennant's on draft too. The only thing is the feta salad had too much pomegranate for my taste but apart from that, great value. Come here if you're nearby, you won't be disappointed. Food only up until 8 though.

Great value and good atmosphere

The bar is a terrific venue and the bar staff are fantastic. I exclude from these comments the bar manager and the bar owner. Their own staff find them moody , unpredictable and irascible. If you don’t fit into their specific profile, then forget being welcomed there. I was a loyal customer there over 7 years and never ever felt welcomed by these two ( or indeed the clique they personally drool over). Such a shame , as the pub is a fab venue and most people there are very friendly and nice .

Awesome beer garden dog friendly. Good food and cold beer on a summers day. Couldn’t fault it with spotless toilets and freshly cooked decent quality of grub. Our new go to when in town.
