The Hall Inn Pub & Restaurant in Monmouthshire

Unfortunately yesterday Sept 2019 we had an awful dining experience at this pub.there were only 4 tables attended we made it 5 yet had to wait 45-50 mins for our starter! Then when my prawn cocktail arrived it was sadly a plate of tiny prawns with zero sauce and my bread had butter on it already maybe the chef guessed I liked buttered bread who knows?however the manager or landlord was very professional and said we wont pay for anything as we didn't want to stay any longer .we wont be going back.

I have never visited this place.

Sunday roast takeaway to die for!! Huge portions 🙂

I can't speak highly enough of this pub/restaurant. We have eaten there a few times this year, the latest occasion being today 7/11/2024. The food was lovely, the price was very reasonable and the service was faultless. I should have asked the name of the lady who served, us as she is an absolute asset to the business and elevated a pleasant experience to a memorable one. And cheers to the chef, who produced such delicious food and the landlord for running such a terrific establishment.

The pub was a charming place. Unfortunately the service was terrible ..so slow. An hour and a half before food was served. The meat and sauce were tasty but the vegetables were mush.

+ Building is lovely, atmosphere great + Nice local bitters - Service was slow (45 mins before taking food order). Long periods without drinks. Also kinda rude. - Food was average, and poor quality for price. Chicken overcooked and rock hard. Goats cheese starter was supposed to include Parma ham, which was missing. Lasagna used old burger meat for filling. Side vegetables only steamed with no flavour or soul. Overall, overpriced for what it is.

Fabulous food and service. Stuffed pork loin in leek and apple sauce was superb! Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you 😊

Food is delicious, and farmhouse sirloin melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this place.

Fabulous lunch here today (Sunday) took the Children who cleared their plates. Food was superb and plentiful with separate great choice of vegetables. Lovely efficient Staff overseen by Stuart and cannot recommend more highly.

Food was fantastic and good value for money. Staff were great. I only gave 4 stars and not 5 as we had to wait quite a long time for our food. No problem if you intend spending a few hours there but not ideal if you are passing through and in a hurry.

Excellent food,best steak I have had in years , lovely lady serving and helped my mam by bringing the special board over for her , highly recommend

Had black pudding for the first time. Was okay. My steak was more medium/well done instead of medium/ rare. But all the rest was fantastic

We have visited The Hall frequently this year. It has a well deserved excellent reputation. The management and staff are very welcoming and helpful. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant area is always very busy, if not full during lunchtimes and evenings. It is, therefore, advisable to book.

Great food and a wonderful atmosphere - pretty epic portions too :)!

This is such a warm and welcoming pub, from the word go. The waitress and the chef went above and beyond their way to help accommodate our dietary needs, and the chef very kindly worked out a menu for us that would work. The attention to detail was fantastic, and the meals were absolutely delicious! Thank you so much!

Quiet country pub, friendly service and very nice food ... they do make really nice batter, not at all greasy light and crisp . Enjoyed our lunch will call again 👍

Surprise Birthday meal of my son & his partner, lovely food and drink and well priced, service was quick and efficient and with a smile and nothing was too much trouble I would recommend this place a 💯% for a romantic meal or family party

Lovely food, well kept beer and very friendly atmosphere. Potions are large, with one plate of cottage pie big enough for two.

What a lovely wee place, some where I had never been. The food was delicious, and the service was really good. I would definitely go back.

Cannot comment on the accommodation but the meal we had on the 27/1/2024 absolutely delicious the staff are really courteous and nothing was too much, the service was excellent and it’s 10/10 from me👍🏻

Lovely place and a great steak, cooked to order which is so hard to find these days. The Hall was recommended to me and so I'm recommending it as well...

Perfect service, perfect food and drink and also perfect atmosphere. I went fir the 2 course menu and had battered blackpudding with onion chutney starter and roast leg of lamb with a red wine jus served with new potatoes cabbage,leeks and carrots (£17.50 only) and my brother had steamed mussels in a cream and garlic sauce served with chips (£15) portions were lovely size and I can't recommend this place enough. There are some steps about but this is to be expected from an old building.

Had an amazing meal and atmosphere was fantastic.

The food was fabulous. Beef stroganoff divine. Service excellent and very nice Wye Vale brewery beers to savour.

Not so impressed after we had to wait over an hour for a table we'd booked to be cleared. A few minutes is fine but not informing the existing customers that the table is already booked made us feel unwelcome. After that it was slightly better, though vegetarian options were very limited and it was clear more effort went into meat dishes - which were lovely at least

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service very good, especially in the busy atmosphere. Extensive menu. The food was excellent. I have no hesitation of recommending The Hall Inn. We would definitely visit again whenever we’re around this way.

A lovely little local pub that feels like you are out in the sticks, but actually very accessible from Caerleon, Usk and the A40. Less than 10 minutes drive from Raglan Castle. Very welcoming Landlord and bar staff. I called in on the off chance for a little bit of food as I was alone on a road trip and despite being short on a member of kitchen staff, they still fitted me in for food. No exaggeration!, as a vegetarian, I struggle to find a pub or even a restaurant that actually wants to serve up good food for "the veggie" and only put their all in to the meat dishes - however this pub food was the best food I have had! Their chips were stunning and I had the Mushroom Stroganoff (which wasn't on the menu but I was offered that as an alternative to the beef version) and it was absolutely gorgeous, freshly home made and not reheated stodge! Huge decent serving with loads of veggies, rice and chips! All at a very, very decent price!!! I would highly recommend this surprising little gem of a place! I certainly will be back with my husband for that gorgeous food. DRINKS - Again, very clean and tasty beer and ales on draught also at a very affordable price! Thanks to The Hall Inn for their great hospitality.

Great little pub, fabulous sandwiches and great beer - what else do you need - lovely pub dog too.

Disappointed! Sunday lunch poor value for money for what you get. Small starter portions. Lamb sunday lunch meat tasted like kebab meat. Different parts of the lamb were cooked differently from rare to burnt. Group of men sat outside swearing and being loud spoiling the atmosphere. Locals clearly get preferential treatment. Wont be returning.

Popped in for a quick bite after travelling back from holiday after searching area came across this pub so glad we found it. A warm welcome upon entering and friendly atmosphere food choice was great better than some big chain pubs and restaurants we have been to. food was well presented and hot mains were great my girlfriend said best chicken curry she has had and real chips my cottage pie was great fresh vegetables will be booking soon nice little hidden gem would recommend

I really enjoyed my Beef Shin, The meat was falling apart in a really nice sweet sauce. Also served butty Bach which was a bonus!!

Proper country pub atmosphere,warm, pleasant,good selection on draught and fabulous food ! If a good steak is your thing this is the place to go.

We have now gone out there for three years for Christmas. Being a coeliac normally the menu is significantly reduced in most places; but at the Hall, if you book in advance they will bend over backwards to accommodate you. The only thing on the Christmas menu they couldn't do as gluten free was the Pork! Great three course meal; friendly service. Highly recommend. They may be able to accommodate GF on short notice; but definitely can if you are booking.

Beautiful Christmas Dinner. Ambience was great, service was welcoming and quick throughout in a comfortable setting. Plenty of parking and good range of beers and ciders at the bar. Mulled wine was excellent too.

Been here twice now, both times have had a lovely Sunday lunch. But please train staff on the correct way to handle glasses, especially dirty glasses. Use a tray, not fingers inside... quite off-putting...

What a fantastic place to stop on our way back from a few days in the Brecon Beacons. Fantastic country pub, brilliant service, lovely food. Great beer garden. Was packed on a Tuesday night, that says it all! Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back.

Lovely cozy traditional pub in a rural area. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did wait quite a while from ordering to getting our starters but the food was piping hot, fresh and very tasty. Plus the chips are homemade! The steaks are lovely, it was the reason for our visit! Also area outside to which is great on a sunny day
