Amazing food, friendly service. Went on a Saturday evening, we did book a table for 8 and am glad we did as it was completely packed out. 100% recomend. Can't wait to go again.

We have returned to the gurkha and it never disappoints. Always family friendly, stunning views of the lake. Hot, fresh food which is served in a buffet style all you can eat. Always found the staff polite and helpful. The buffet has the highest hygiene standards.

We visited at 6pm on the 24th August ,I have given a 3 star rating over the board because the service was slow but this is because they were extremely busy therefore unable to enjoy the atmosphere as it was so noisy ,the queue for the buffet was huge.There was a good selection of hot food, all tasted good but I ended up with food poisoning 🤢 really upset by this was told by the restaurant it couldn't of been from there but this was the only place and the only food I'd eaten all day.

Second time dining here, first time was an absolute disaster, thought we would try again a year later, we got seated ordered our drinks and went to eat, we went to the bar 4 times to request our drinks, it took 45 minutes to make 3 cokes which by time they came we had finished eating and ready to leave, the restaurant lacks total leadership, Weymouth needs a proper all you can eat buffet run by professionals! Will never return again, you just can’t beat the service and quality from cosmo

Very poor customer service. They acted like we were there for free food, when we paid £17 pp for buffet and we were a group of 5 people. When we went to the bar to asked for water (they directed us to ask there), they pretended they didn't hear us at first. After calling them for millionth time, they were hesitant to give water and they said they would charge money for tap water. Never ever in my life, I went to a restaurant where they didn't give tap water for free. Other than bad customer service, Food was pretty good and ambience was good as well.

We have never felt so rushed or undervalued in a restaurant before. We arrived at 1330 and the restaurant states it closes at 3pm (you are allocated 90 minutes to eat). As soon as we had sat down we were told the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so we had to immediately go and get food. What was on offer was very limited with no reduction in price offered. Plates were cleared as soon as you laid your cutlery down and staff were sweeping the floors around us and it was obvious they didn’t want us there. The limited food that we did have was OK but unfortunately we will not be back.

I visited the restaurant with my husband and 14yr old daughter while on holiday in Weymouth. We arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was half full. We were seated really quickly and our drinks were ordered, then we were advised that it was an all-you-can-eat buffet. There was a fantastic array of different foods (Chinese, Indian,Nepalese and English) all of which were being constantly replenished with fresh servings. My daughter is a little picky but they had plenty of plain food that she enjoyed. You can go up as many times as you like but you can only stay in the restaurant for 90 mins - which is more than enough time! All in dinner for three with 1 lager and 2 soft drinks came in under £60 and we all ate VERY WELL INDEED. We will definitely go back again on our next visit to Weymouth

Visited here whilst holidaying in Weymouth, located at the Swannery you can look over the lake, plenty choice of food and it was lovely, plenty of different dishes for all to try, would definatley recommend and will be returning.

Nice food , self service restaurant

Myself my husband and our 3 year old son visited this restaurant whilst on holiday. We had booked it in advance as it looked good online. When we arrived we sat outside for a moment as we were there a but early for opening, but a man came to the door and let us sit in early. Ordered drinks and even whilst the food was being out out said we were welcome to start dishing up our dinner. All staff were friendly and food was hot and tasty, with for an adult a good variety. However the reason for my 4 stars is that every buffet all you can eat restaurant I have ever been to has had atleast 1 plain standard food on for children who will not eat anything a bit different. The only thing that resembled this was the chips and satay chicken, which was a bit too rubbery for a young child and so my son did not eat. Considering we were due to pay £10 for him, my husband advised the staff he would not eat and they did not charge for him. Great customer service, however then that meant that my son was sitting there bored whilst my husband and I rushed down our dinners. So that we could get out to somewhere and get him something to eat. Look at the end of the day it's a chinese/Indian buffet restaurant, it does lovely Chinese/Indian food, if all members of your party enjoy that food, you will love it! And I would recommend the restaurant to people without young children. However if I have one constructive criticism, it is I wish they would have a slight more option for the plain fussy eaters like most children can be. Even some chicken nuggets, or sausages. Something you would usually see on a children's menu.

This was our first visit as a family as it was our daughters birthday. We were welcomed on arrival and shown to our seat. The Service was very good and the food was fantastic. A great selection of food and all was very hot. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be coming back on our next visit to Weymouth.

We went for the second time on Monday night and while the Chinese section was very tasty the Indian curry’s were absolutely tasteless. We used the gurkka a few times over the years and loved the curry’s so perhaps they should pull their socks up,

My partner and I visited on a Tuesday evening for dinner service. The staff seemed friendly enough and were happy to help with anything. But when you visit an all you can eat buffet it's all about the food lol. There was a very good selection of dishes including duck wraps, various curries and noodles and all of it was great. It looked great and tasted even better. The restaurant itself looks like a boat and is situated one the water giving a nice look to it. I found it great value for money and would definitely visit again when in Weymouth. Highly recommended. The photo I took really doesn't do it justice.

Had a lovely meal here, often buffets can be cold and tasteless but the food here was constantly stocked with fresh food and the quality of the food was better than any self serve buffet I've been too. On top of this the service was great. Highly recommended.

Fantastic, love this place Went here again this week. As usual the food was lovely, tasty and plentiful. My only gripe is, it was very cold sitting I side, more heating would be nice . Another visit on 1st August Quite disappointed as we got there for 1.10 pm to have lunch buffet, most things were missing or quite depleted and they didn't bring out anymore food. Such a shame as I know this has happened to friends who have dined there lately

All you can eat (in 90 minutes) buffet! Large selection of great food: Indian, Thai, Chinese, Singaporean... All really tasty although some of our party felt that the curries were a bit mild. We had a good evening. Not the ideal place for a romantic dinner 🤣

Absolutely amazing was in weymouth for a day been in this restaurant before long time ago. Thought I'll pop in have lunch the customer service was outstanding and the food wow Absolutely delicious 😋 I tried everything because it's a buffet as much as you like definitely be coming back big thank you to all team especially the chefs .

Always visit here when in Weymouth. Food great, service great and atmosphere changes depending on how many people are there. Definitely worth a visit and worth the price.

A more limited choice of dishes than was expected and no desserts, apart from ice cream. That said the dishes that we did have were tast and it was worth the £17 each that we paid.

Yummy food & lots to choose from

Some of the dishes were lovely, some lacking in flavour, daughter disappointed in lack of deserts only two half empty tubs of ice cream to offer.

Special Birthday meal. Always a great choice of dishes and very tasty. Husband wanted something that wasn't among the dishes and the chef made some for him. Although the restaurant was quiet, they put a large party with very noisy children right behind us. Apart from that a lovely evening.

We came here on Sunday just gone to have a family meal out for our first day of our holiday in Weymouth, this was the most disappointing meal we have experienced, the food selection was very poor with only 4 curries to choose from, no variety of food , the "carvery" what carvery? Meat and a bit of carrot peas, stiff roasties and soggy Yorkshire puddings no actual potatoes like a carvery nothing like it .. As for dessert non other than a tub of ice cream? Really? For an all you can eat this is the worst we have ever been too I'm surprised they have customers

Great place to eat! The buffet is wicked! All you can eat for £17. Loads of tables, etc, bar and ice cream! Watch your change when paying by cash. I think the guy who served us was a bit blind as he short-changed me. The problem got resolved in a jiffy. I'll be back soon

Good quality food with a good choice of most Asian cuisine and good value, will certainly use it more often.

I really like the fact that for one price you can choose whatever you want, as much as you want and eat as much as you want, the only limitation is 90 minutes.

Came in for a buffet of a wednesday and the place was banging! The food is superb, piping hot and an amazing selection. I recommend the gurka lamb curry!! The service was second to none, the drinks were cold and the buffet is constantly being regenerated with freshly cooked food. Definitely coming back for a full menu sit down!

Please don't ask because they no longer do this but a few years ago when there was a problem with housing slot of homeless people all at once the gurkha used to hand out there food that hadn't been sold,it was piping hot so no worries but I just thought that was such an extremely nice gesture so I always make a point of telling holiday makers that gurkha is the place to eat. 👍 excellent staff also 👏 👌

Lamb curry was delish, and the melon pieces and fresh lettuce and popadums and chocolate ice cream. Sparkling mineral water was also very good. That is basically what I ate. There was a sign that says if you waste food they can fine you. I think it is a great sign to remind people not yo overload their plates and then not finish it all. You know the eyes are bigger than your stomach syndrome!

Best restaurant in Weymouth, been going here for years when holidaying! Cant wait to visit again soon.

I've learnt my lesson. Take small portions,and drink loads of tepid water with lemon in,too aid digestion,like the manager. Who had six pieces of lemon in his drink ,and I had three. But it done the trick,as you can see I managed a whole roast,and went back again,and again. Ending up,with a ice cream sundae, reminiscent of a wimpy.. Mum use too take me in,after having several teeth extracted,because my liking for all things sweet. I got a wimpy for a treat though,or a knickerbocker glory. The service in the Gurkha,was really good as usual,from the waiters being really attentive. And the young lad,bartek ,clearing the mountain of pots and pans.hes a credit too the place,because I've done pot washing,in a local hotel,over Christmas,as a teenager earning my keep, and you couldn't see me for all the pots with cakes on maggi soup in the bottom,or fat from the roast potatoes.. And for thirteen pound ,where else would you go. Some it would be a burger,in a bun,without the burger..!!!

Lovely restaurant with great selection, service is always speedy and staff friendly - seated immediately and drinks offered, which returned within minutes. All food is hot and tasty, and it's very reasonably priced for a buffet. Prawn crackers taste has improved significantly since last time, less oily. Location-wise, plenty of parking at the large car park just 100m away and quiet, also near town centre.

We went for the lunchtime buffet and there was a great choice of meals to choose from and the buffet included a starter and dessert. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was very good. Well worth a visit.

A busy buffet at 7pm, great variety of food and was good quality too. Lamb gurkha was excellent and spicy prawn dish too.

As you might expect of anyone offering an all you can eat buffet covering different types of cuisine there is a lack of high quality ingredients and levels of cooking that would undoubtedly shame any half decent cook from any of the respective cuisine countries. So if relatively tasteless high volume of food is your thing then it’s great, if tasting good quality food representative of different Asian countries then you would be far better off going to restaurants specialising in just one cuisine. It’s by far the worst attempt at Indian, Thai I’ve ever tasted and the Chinese is at best low grade takeaway standard. On the plus side it’s an interesting location sitting as it does on the edge of a small lake near the town centre. It has lots of seating so can easily accommodate larger groups. As they say in life you get what you pay for and it’s not expensive.

Help yourself buffet with a variety of choice.

Whilst on holiday just outside of Weymouth in October 2023, we was looking at ordering a takeaway, when a lady on the site we were staying told me about the Gurkha, a Chinese/Indian restaurant on a boat and eat as much as you want. So me my wife and son with autism parked in the car park at the side of the restaurant which is free after 6pm. In arrival we was welcomed by 2 members of staff and told to help ourselves whilst they got our drinks ready. The selection was very good and the food very tasty. As we were about to leave, the manager thanked us for visiting and we said we would definitely be back again and recommend the Gurkha to other people at the holiday centre we were staying on

Easy free parking after 18.00 in large car park right outside. Food was good and plenty of it. Gurkha Lamb Curry was delightful. Perfect place for all you can eat at only £18 a head on a Saturday evening. 👍🏻

Food was just okay. I don't understand why they advertise the food on their website but they don't actually serve most of it. Not much selection for my vegetarian friend either. Service was terrible. We didn't actually have any service tbh ,only just got us seated. Didn't ask if we were enjoying the food. Refused to give my daughter a straw as she only had water. (makes no sense at all) We're very rude when it came to paying. We paid separately and my friend was the last to pay. He came over to our table and demanded her payment. I did say it's okay she's not going to run away. It's like they didn't like us just sitting at the table chatting. The place was nearly empty at this point so I don't understand the rudeness and trying to rush us. As soon as we left they swooped onto our table to clean it up. Shame they didn't do that when we first got there. Good thing is the parking is free after 6pm. Really don't think the £17 is worth it at all. The noodles were very tasteless and the spring rolls were quite soggy. We all felt sick afterwards. Me and my mother felt sick and ill for most of the evening after. Shame because we were really looking forward to trying this place as it's been a while since we last went. The place is very outdated. Could do with a complete makeover really. The staff just seemed like they couldn't be bothered . Spent most of their time talking to each other. Some of the food was nice but mostly negative. We won't be returning any time soon.

Food was nice, not much vegetairian, Service was not good, was given an old drink menu which had cheaper prices on, when went to pay I asked about the higher price of drinks and was rudely told I didn't read the menu properly, then when I paid, I scanned my card and asked if it had gone through, was told yes, so I left but then was chased down and treated like I hadn't paid and told I never scanned my card on the machine, when I explained what had happened, I was told no, I didn't, I just walked out. At this point I was quite angry at how I had been treated, will never return again.

Always excellent food and perfect service but it's a bit like a canteen in as much as there are a lot of people sat quite closely in a relatively bright room.

Went for my birthday lunch in between Xmas and NY, not much choice of Thai but had plenty of starter choices and the Nepali lamb curry which was not very spicy but good. Great setting.

We really enjoy going to the Gurkha. It is a no-frills, no pretentions place that serves really good food and let's you get on with enjoying as much as you can eat. If you go at lunch time, don't leave it too late as closing time is enforced very punctually. Enjoy it for what it is - great food at an incredible price. We will be sure to return in the new year.

Nice buffet,plenty of variety 👌

Really enjoy this lunchtime buffet now costing £12 per person.Great chicken and sweetcorn soup with prawn crackers followed by a choice of Dim sums.Chicken satay and ribs very good.On to the main courses of which there is a good selection with tasty sauces.The only thing missing is yuk sung which I find missing from many restaurants in this area. If we were not driving we would love a bottle of wine and to visit on an evening when duck and maybe prawns would be on. My husband tried the lamb curry which he enjoyed as he doesn’t get it at home as I hate curry. Very nice outlook over the water and able to choose your own table not in the sun. Dessert just melon and tinned fruit,no cake or cookies. Roll on February when we visit again.

Been wanting to visit for years as it’s always looked cool when passing & finally decided on a last minute visit, looks good from outside, inside rather dated, food was just ok, left full but didn’t enjoy it, needs more than just vanilla ice cream for dessert apart from a bit of melon & pretty much empty tinned fruit salad. I didn’t use the toilet but my family members did & they weren’t impressed.

Another Weymouth visit and another meal at The Gurkha. We visit four or five times every year and have never been disappointed. Plenty of choice, hot and tasty. The price has steadily crept up but it's still the best value in town. We'll be back soon.

We went to the restaurant as my daughter had never been before. We haven’t been done a long time, there was five of us two kids and 3 adults. All the food was pipping hot and extremely well cooked the chilli corn was superb as was muscles amd prawns , the duck was beautiful cooked as well! we all enjoyed it very much . Will definitely going back, Keep up good work

3 of us visited for lunch on Sunday, we've been many times and it's still hot or miss. Yesterday was a miss unfortunately. The pint of pepsi or lemonade is shocking, definitely not branded. The garlic chicken clearly used garlic granules and not real garlic as it tasted salty and grainy. Between us we tried every dish apart from the sweetcorn soup. Nothing stood out as ' I'll get some more of that'

This restaurant is fantastic in every way. Food very fresh, never greasy, plenty of choice, all you can eat and cooked well. Staff very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Love love this restaurant. Good price too. We go there as often as we can. And, they sell Mateus Rosé wine, which you don't often find

Overhyped restaurant with basic food options available, offering only a small variety of dishes. Very tired and distressed look to the place with poor toilet facilities. We saw several cobwebs in the main eatery area and above main door. Dessert was fruit or cheap vanilla ice cream in the chest freezer. There was 11 in our party and it was not an good experience especially as buffet price was £17. We DO NOT recommend you waste your money here🤮.

Beware taking a baby into the restaurant, we had a £2 charge added to the bill even though a 12 month old didn't eat anything,this was queried and swiftly taken off although they didn't seem pleased to do it .

Large space but small buffet. Pro - Small but diverse selection of dishes. Loved the starters and appetizers. The curry, not so much. Con - Not so great on hygiene. The table that we got was not that clean. Maybe because of the busy nature but still...

For £12 I thought it was good value. However a pint of Magners was 5.99. I'd never been here but luckily I was with someone who had been. As I felt a little lost but apparently we could go up whenever to get our food. Its a nice restaurant and I will be coming back again just wish their was a little more guidance from the staff.
