Place was unclean, grimy and sticky, and just generally shabby. Had loaded Nachos and at £10 expected them to be good. Cheap Nachos, hardly any cheese or pork and half the portion welded onto plate and inedible. Been in microwave too long. Left feeling totally ripped off. Won't be back.

Lovely food, nice atmosphere reasonable priced only thing is I wouod like something with toastie even few tortilla chips as toastie on own is very plain other cafes give you salad and things. They specialise in coffee which is great staff friendly.

Wonderful atmosphere, great coffee The ground house is a family favourite, the staff are lovely, the coffee is really good and the “vibe” is relaxed. Great place for a chat, to unwind and you get the sense that you can stay as long as you like. A wonderfully mixed clientele with tourists and locals enjoying a break for the daily stress. Love this place.

I’d previously only been here in the warmer months and for takeaway during Covid 1.0. As such, I only ventured to the till and didn’t really notice the surroundings. Until today! Wow. The place was FILTHY. Sticky chairs, rubbish filling holes in the woodwork/ brickwork in the entranceway. Christmas decorations covered in Spiderwebs so can only assume they have been up for a few years.the large brown couch in the front has a distinct smell of ammonia - like a cat toilet. Worst part was visiting the communal toilet and I’m annoyed I didn’t do this when I first walked in as I would have left. It was vile. Not only with toilet mess but mop buckets and cleaning products lying around - what on earth are they thinking?! The staff saw me immediately step in and step right out again so I’m hoping they put 2+2 together and gave it a good clean but given previous reviews I doubt it. Really disgusting and there are PLENTY beautiful, spotless and friendly independent coffee shops on that street to choose from. I definitely won’t be back and will be telling any people I care about to avoid it. I wish I’d known how dirty this place was before ordering from here in the past. The food and drinks are mediocre, so if you’re not concerned about dirt then fire in!

Came across this rather quirky and funky coffee shop on the high street. The menu boards outside was quite extensive so we decided to have our lunch here. The décor inside was indeed quirky, but definitely needing a lot of tender loving care. Although it Initially attracted the young student clientele it still was able to offer a decent meal offering for all age groups. The food ordered was sadly very small portion sizes although saying that it was freshly cooked. The presentation was reasonable and quality was just ok. The main criticism we found was the very slow service, they need to have more staff working, 3 members of staff whom together were serving, cooking, cleaning tables, preparing food, doing drinks and working till did not give a professional approach. The toilet was rather drab looking definitely needs to be refurbished. Another issue was that it's very cold inside regardless of portable heaters sporadically placed. Would we come again, probably not unless it gets more staff and it offers bigger portion sizes and sorts out the heating.

I am eleven and I have been hear since I was a baby and I love it this is an amazing place this is one of my most favorite it's got such a nice place the people who work here are very nice and friendly you can easily have a conversation I love this place this place is also dog friendly and I really enjoy going here with my family and all I have to say is that this place is fabulous.

Went in on Saturday 8th May and was immediately glad that we had chosen there. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, without sounding like the over the top script you would get at a Starbucks. I had a watermelon green iced tea and could honestly live on it - soooooo tasty! The interior itself has a brilliant atmosphere and character to it. Very comfortable, I will most definitely be back to just hang out :) To top off an amazing visit, I asked where they purchased the glass that my drink came in (it was a really cool jar with a handle), and the staff member kindly gave me it! I was so pleased! It's my new favourite gin jar :) Thanks guys, I can't wait to come back. Katie

Sat in the window seat, tables, floors, seats, ( down the side of), window ledges grimy, dusty, hairy, and obviously not regularly cleaned. Noticed once seated the entrance doorway stained on floor and litter dumped next to their storage area where the blackboard is. Toilet grimy. All in all it’s run town and dirty. Put me off my food I’m afraid. See photos, says it all! 😞

Where has the three piece guitar band gone?? Highlight of my week!!! Will they be playing again anytime soon? G

Try the soup or one of the many buns on offer. Does good bistro type food and drink with good service. Worth a visit when in town.

While visiting family my usual spot was closed, this was a great replacement, good coffee, friendly service, comfy sofas what more could you want

My sister and I visited for first time today. Staff very helpful and food really good. I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a latte. Nice atmosphere as tables spread out.

Came to the Groundhouse for coffee and hot chocolate with family last week and there was a band playing blues which really added to the atmosphere! Lovely and quirky place. Only place I’ve come across with good live music in this area.

Everything was just ok. Room for improvement across all aspects. Decor is tired, almost grotty. Menu seemed fairly ordinary. Coffee passable. Staff were not exactly a cheery bunch. In future I'll just go to the place across the road - significantly better on most fronts

Visited for breakfast, some food was perfectly fine but some was badly made and left uneaten. Terrible atmosphere created by staff, who were unfriendly and shot us looks as they served us. Felt uncomfortable and rushed out the door.

Food was okay, did leave my main alone as it was quite inedible. The atmosphere felt intense and the staff came across as somewhat hostile. Cannot recommend.

Excellent coffee and bacon roll. Food choice is wide and varied; made to order or prepacked dependant on your preferences, but stay a while & relax. Have something different and explore your taste buds with the selection of hot drinks on offer. Dog friendly too....

Stopped by a breakfast one early morning (around 9) and was delicious as was the coffee. Good food, good coffee, fairly priced and friendly smiling staff. Can't ask for anymore.

stopped in today to get a snack and coffee with my boyfriend and had a great time! was served by a younger girl (didn’t get her name, but she had a nose ring and cute yellow scrunchie!) and she was great! it was somewhat busy and she was all alone and handled it like a champ. the coffees and food were great as well. we will be back!

A clean coffee house with friendly staff. Situated in the centre of Stirling, it only took us 10 minutes to walk to the station. Decent food and coffee at a reasonable price.

I have been going here since I moved to Stirling 3 years ago. Perfect place to sit and read, or get work done over a nice cup of tea or coffee in winter, smoothies and milkshakes all summer. You will never feel rushed or be rushed out. Food is also amazing. Relaxed chilled atmosphere makes it easy to sit back and talk for hours.

Well, here goes nothing. Last week my partner and I were on an outing to Stirling to celebrate our 1 year engagement. As a treat I thought, why not pop into a nice, trendy coffee shop for a bite to eat and a drink. To my complete misfortune I chose The ground house.

Was asked at least 4 times what type of coffee I wanted (to be fair I think she had just started?) Husbad asked for diet coke - which never came? When panini arrived he asked again & was told - you just help yourself from the cabinet?

I can see why there are so many positive reviews for this place. There is a good vibe here, it’s quirky and relaxed and they have good range of cakes. But, if I’m honest, the coffee is nothing special and the whole place needs a good scrub.

I stopped off here for coffee one morning, and the ambiance (and coffee) was so good I came back today for breakfast. For £6.95 I did not expect such an enormous plate. Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection as well.

Been coming here a good few years now, but never as much as recently. The staff are amazing and friendly, they are always welcome to help and go the extra mile. Many of the staff have become good friends of mine, and I would never choose another cafe over it. Cheap, amazing and really casual,what cafe needs to be.

Been in here a few times and always enjoy going back! It's got a bustling atmosphere but also manages to be very laid back. In every new city I live in I need to find a 'spot' for me to spend my down time, and The Groundhouse is definitely my Stirling spot!

Good little café with quirky decor. Tasty light bites, cakes and coffees. Service was a bit slow in that our five light bites came at different times, but were all good. Recommend.

Waited 30 minutes for food after telling them we were in a hurry. They ran out of plates! We had to leave before food ever came. Coffee was very good

Visited for lunch recently. The whole place could do with a good clean, and the decor is depressingly brown. The ladies loo was missing its seat which is never a good sign. The menu was confusing, cheese was not listed as a possible filling for sandwiches etc, although staff were amenable to adding it, flatbreads were offered on the menu but apparently not actually been available for years. The panini was fine, the nachos were pretty awful, some kind of gloopy tomato sauce being used instead of salsa. Decided not to have any coffee or cake. All in all, a dismal experience.

A lovely break from the bustle of life. Great coffee, cake and pizza coupled with a chilled atmosphere and relaxing music. A favourite venue to relax in.

Came here with friends and we sat outside. It was fairly busy inside and out. Only one person serving behind the counter. This meant a bit of a wait both for folks ordering food/drinks and waiting to pay their bill. All tables outside hadn't been cleared or wiped even when our order arrived they were just placed down on top of a dirty table. Seemed to have a good atmosphere and a decent array of cakes and hot food like wraps/pizzas etc. I ordered a milkshake, wonderfully presented but at the end of the day it was just chocolate milk, would've been nicer if mixed with ice cream so it had a bit more substance.

A number of months ago, I vowed never to return to this coffee shop. However, I did so on Saturday because I was working in an office a few doors away. I was reminded why I should give this place a miss.

Nice little coffee shop, unusual to find people playing guitars and singing on a sunday morning, whilst people eating breakfast and drinking coffee. Not for me I am afraid, I didn't feel relaxed, and wasn't my type of thing for a sunday morning.

Where to start? Oh maybe the fact that i have been a regular here for years and every single time i've been impressed, the coffee tastes great, fresh and flavourful, the staff are welcoming and never let anyone leace without a "thank you" and "goodbye" and know their regular customers well, the cakes are plentiful and original and the food is great for a quick bite OR a full blown meal.

Popped in for a nice quick lunch and this was what we got. Tuna melt was very tasty and the hotdog was amazing. I would defo visit again . Very friendly staff could not do enough to provide a top class service

Visited for a late lunch with family, a quaint little place which extnds into the buidling. The baked potato I had was massive! My son loved his mint choc milkshake. My daughter said the toilets in the basement were "spooky". Good service

After climbing up to Stirling Castle we were certainly ready to recharge our batteries. Great central location.

Perfect for families, for meeting up with friends, small business meeting or on your own. Quite a quaint building with a decent amount of seating, very friendly, helpful staff. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed.

Happy to discover that the Ground House is one of the few places open and doing an all day breakfast on a Sunday...although my coffee was good, my breakfast was awful! A full breakfast was served on a small plate with majority of my mushrooms served to me raw. I politely sent them back but after waiting a further 10 minutes for them to be cooked through, I had eaten the remainder of my meal and was given around 6 shrivelled to a crisp mushrooms back!! No decent chef would be proud nor allow both raw and cremated food to be served! Don't bother with the breakfast- stick to their coffee and cakes in future.

Have been here a few times and am always impressed by the staff and service even when they are busy and up against it. The hot dogs are fab and the cakes and tray bakes irresistible. Great coffee too. Good for all.

Visited this establishment with my eldest last week. Asked for a breakfast and wow did I get it. It was lovely as was the coffee and the ambience. Saw a man eat a fresh pizza and immediately wished I had one. Service and pricing excellent. Saying goodbye to Stirling soon but hope to return

Nice little cafe. I got the big breakfast which was a very generous portion and delicious. Coffee was ok, i couldn't really taste much of the coffee beans. Staff are nice.

Yes the coffee is good and yes the staff friendly, but could someone please do some cleaning? Every surface, floor, glass cabinet, shelf and door is absolutely filthy; and if this is what's visible then what must the kitchen be like? Muddy trainers and dirty jeans are inappropriate in a food environment. Shame. Some training required.

This is a very relaxed place, popular with all-sorts - students studying, parents taking the kids out, friends meeting, people working on their laptops, etc. There is no single target market they aim for, so it really is a place that anyone can feel comfortable in.

The food took ages to come and then it was cold and one person didn't come till the others were almost finished. The coffee wasn't even that great. It was also very cold to sit in, will not be returning.

Stopped in during a downpour in Stirling for coffee. Nice coffee, nice tea and a great toasted meatball sandwich. Comfy couches and helpful staff. A great find in Stirling! Will def be back!

Turned up with a group of 8 students. Service was exceptional. The pizzas are fantastic value and a contender for best in the area. Fantastic place for groups and individuals looking for a cosy and satisfying meal. Fantastic work guys!!!

Popped in for takeaway lunch the staff are so upbeat and friendly amazing selection of freshly cooked food, cakes to die for (I know I don't need cake !) and the tastiest coffee in Stirling wouldn't go anywhere else.

Got there with a friend for breakfast. It wasn't even busy but it took them 45 for a bagel and a salad.

I recently stopped by The Ground House with my partner for some lunch and coffee. We seen that they had a great £5 lunch deal which included coffee, soup/sandwich and either crisps or a cake. I thought this was great value for money. We had the soup which tasted great, as did the coffee and cake. The staff were very friendly, cosy atmosphere and excellent music. I will definitely be back again!

I do not understand how people like this place!

A super wee coffee shop that really shows the big famous chains that a good coffee and food can be done at a price that doesn't break the bank. I had the spice tomato and lentil soup, a regular latte and a small cake as part of their food for a fiver deal. Tremendous value and good quality as well to go with the friendly service. I'll be back, best coffee place in Stirling; easily.

This gem of a coffee shop is just down the street from the Stirling Castle. It has delicious coffee and food was very cost effective. Well worth it to stop here for a nice lunch, plus the employees were super friendly and helpful.

This is my favorite place for all food and drinks especially the cheesecakes with a different variety every week and the nachos are amazing as well as the pizzas try the pulled pork topping it to die for

It's a genuine surprise to me that this place has a Certificate of Excellence and so many good reviews. My wife and I were really disappointd on our visit here.

Great coffee, good selection of food, fabulous cakes. Above all, extremely relaxed and fantastic. Chill out on the sofa and enjoy the free wifi. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Best place in Stirling for a coffee and the pizzas are freshly made and delicious.

We were needing a pick me up for our shopping trip. Coffee with a scrambled egg bagel. Food was succulent and plentiful with a very generous portion. The cost was very reasonable for the amount of food served. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Popped in for coffee. Lots of choice, cakes looked lovely too. Friendly service. Only issue was the state of the floor. Could do with cleaning. Particularly disconcerting to see the dish washing/kitchen room floor pretty filthy.

This is a wee gem located in King Street, serving great coffee and scrumptious rolls and sausage. Great staff - friendly and welcoming. Magic music in the background - all 60s and 70s...a perfect start to the day!

The Ground House is a great place to stop for a quick coffee when running errands in Stirling. The savoury food options are nothing spectacular, but are tasty and the service is usually prompt and friendly. They also provide a reasonable student discount. Good option for coffee and cake.

Was looking for a coffee shop with outdoor seating, and came across this little coffee shop just outside the arcade on king street. Outdoor seating was fairly busy but managed to get a table. First impressions tables needed cleaning, I had to move dishes to sit at this table. Indoor in the coffee shop was well presented but again dishes lying about, there was 3 staff on so not sure why tables weren't being cleaned. Ordered 4 drinks in total, prices better than large coffee chains. 2 of the party ordered milkshakes and both were left disappointed, although looked amazing they were very watery and quite tastless, one of our party mentioned a macdonalds milkshake tastes better I do have to recommend their iced tea, so tasty. Although not a great experience I would return and actually purchase some coffee and definitely their ice tea.

We are coffee geeks and seek out any top-rated cafes wherever we go. After seeing the reviews on here our expectations were high. We have diverse tastes between us, so one Macchiato, one Cappuccino and one Caffe Latte is what we ordered. We asked when ordering what their idea/concept was on each, knowing that very many places in the UK apply barista knowledge quite liberally. We asked for all coffees to have "little froth and no cocoa on top". There arrived a Cappuccino with tons of froth and cocoa on it, a latte in a cup (when really it should be in a tall glass) and a macchiato the size of a cappuccino (when really it should be a short espresso-based drink). We sent the cappuccino back pointing out that we DID NOT want cocoa on our coffee - we again asked for less froth. We tried to keep the conversation cheerful but the waiter got very upset and defensive and even raised his voice. He insisted he was a trained barista and that we had no grounds to ask for anything different than he did for us. He then walked off angrily and literally threw the full cup into the sink. He then brought another "cappuccino" reassuring us that he had now added extra water (??) - it still had cocoa on it. All our coffees - apart from not even remotely reflecting their names - were extremely bitter and far too strong. I have not much positive to say about the rest of the experience. The place seems somewhat run down - the sofas we sat on had coils sticking out of them and were extremely uncomfortable. In fairness, the pizzas we saw on people's tables on the way out looked OK but the place did nothing for us. We might be too spoiled by regular visits to Fortitude and Artisan Roast in Edinburgh...

Great value for the money we paid. We bought pizza & quesadilla and a smoothie for 14£. Good wifi as well. Went on a Saturday afternoon.

Walking down the hill back to our car after touring amazing Sterling Castle, we found this place. A hip coffee house and great food spot that would have fit in well at home in Madison, WI. The food was top notch, and we were able to completely decompress from a long day of touring.

Second visit today at the request of my girl for a birthday lunch and enjoyed again. Food lovely and fresh and home baking that can't be ignored - had a hard decision on the type of brownie which was warmed up with cream - absolutely amazing. Helpfull and pleasant staff too. Safe to say we will be back to visit next time we are in Stirling

I've been quite a few times here in the past couple of weeks, and feel like I've discovered a gem. Lovely coffee, amazing milkshakes, addictive pizza and too much choice of cakes for one person to manage. Will be returning soon again. The staff are also lovely and very friendly.

I am a returning customer to the Ground House, and every time I have had an enjoyable experience. The coffee is great, and the employees make the experience even better. Not only have I been for coffee, I have had savoury meals, which are tasty and incredibly reasonable when price is considered.

Came in here a few times whilst in Stirling for the New Year. Can only vouch for the coffee as I only bought coffee to go. But the coffee is great and all the staff a super friendly. Next time I'm up I am going to check out the evening vibe and probably one the the cakes as well.

13 of us were looking for somewhere to have a hot drink on Hogmanay, we had children with us so pubs were out the question. We passed the Ground House & they were closing up but the helpful staff were very accomodating , they got their coffee/hot chocolate machine up n running again & provided us all with delicious hot drinks & the use of their facilities. A nearby establishment refused to entertain us, so a big thank you Ground House Coffee Company.

Service was excellent, Even if I only bought a milkshake. The server was very nice and even gave me an empire biscuit! Will continue to recommend this place to anyone I know.

My second visit into this warm, earthy coffee house, full of character and yummy smells. Greeted with a warm smile from Stuart and Tina who delight me with one of the most scrumptious pizza's this side of the country. A thin base brimming with so many toppings, it tingled all my taste buds.

We walked in and had to sing out to the staff as the place was deserted. Not five minutes later, the place was buzzing with a local crowd in getting coffee and breakfast so the place must get busy. Our coffees were nice and the bathroom was clean. A good place to stop for a quick coffee break if you're taking a walk around Stirling central.

Great coffee and nice to see home made cakes! Stuart and the team were in party mode today with everyone dressed up for Halloween. They now have a drinks licence and pizza ovens. Stirling has just got a little better. Well done!

this coffee shop is fantastic. they do good food at reasonable prices, dinner or lunch time. The coffee is always great with a wide selection of how to have it and there is lots of good teas. The staff are all super friendly, with cheeky banter and comments, making you feel like a regular and a local instantly. Why go anywhere else?

I have been to the Ground House on numerous occasions. The staff are really friendly and the relaxed atmosphere keeps me coming back. Decided to try the full breakfast. Very disappointed.Tinned mushrooms, which were just awful! The sausage was tasteless,not good quality at all. At almost £17 for 2 breakfasts, 2 coffees and 2 bottles waters, really expected better quality componants. Service was great though.

Ordered and paid for a light lunch. Took our drinks to our table with the order number. Another 6 people arrived and then were all served hot drinks and food... They must be regulars. We were actually waiting over 20 minutes and nothing. When we approached the server, we were told they must of lost our order slip..... Refund for what we hadn't had was given. The drinks were fine but the roll my friend didn't enjoy. I wouldn't recommend it and won't be back. Think its more for students now
