Lovely pub, friendly staff, gorgeous location, but the food was a disappointment. Or rather the descriptions were misleading leading to disappointment! What was described as an octopus starter turned out to be a chunk of pork sitting on top of a few 10p sized slithers of overdone octopus. Different fish were named as the main course choices with no special mention of sauces so naively we assumed that the fish would be allowed to be the star. Sadly a thick orange flavoured sauce is not a marriage made in heaven with a delicate fish like gurnard. For well cooked food I would not baulk at the cost but this was extremely mediocre cooking for the price. Perhaps it was the regular cook's day off.

Booked a table here while on holiday, really friendly service. Lovely place right by the sea with great local ales. The waitress went through all the fish dishes and told us how they were cooked and with what different sauces they came with, all unique. We started with the local mussels which were huge and better than we have had before, served with samphire and a curry powder. Main course fish for both of us, the fish was steamed and accompanied with gratin potatoes and an amazing sauce. We loved the food and highly recommend, these people work hard to produce some great food in a lovely friendly environment.

Although have been here a few times, this time not so enamoured with this quaint pub set in the lovely location of Dale. Stayed for lunch ordered a main, glass of wine and a coffee. Came to over £78. I had fish pie and my wife the steak & Stout pie. Although satisfied with portion and taste. We felt these were very over priced for what they were. Did not like the fact that billed for large wine 250ml what actually given more like 125ml. Service charge totalling 12.5% of the bill. £8.75 auto added making you feel awkward in a small compact area asking for it to be removed. In reality for what delivering your food and drink to your table no more than a few feet from the bar. Opinion staff friendly, food way over priced and it's up to the customer to value the service. Unfortunately will not be visiting again when in the area.

The food here is top notch . The innovation in the sauces is amazing - Cockle and bacon sauce , and a wonderful caramelised orange sauce … all topping the whitest freshest fish. Coupled with a roaring fire and a view of the clouds skudding across the sea - you could stay here all day !

It isn’t the cheapest , but you get what you pay for , which is good food ,cooked by a talented chef and knowledgeable staff who can tell you about the dishes

Recommended by relations to visit. Unfortunately it was a typically very wet Welsh day. High expectations were not met. Lunch for two with a glass of wine each plus tip was £140…. pretty steep for a pub in Dale, Pembs. Service was good, location OK, food OK price a stretch too far.

Chose this eatery as it looked nice from the outside. Opted for the liver and bacon on mash potato, ample portion and cooked to perfection, very tasty, washed down with a cup of tea. Dessert was sponge and custard, lovely and more than ample custard. So impressed I took away a large piece of their quiche and a couple of cheese scones for later, also good. Great staff/service at this venue and will definitely return to try the breakfast .
