Our first visit, carvery was very good will definitely return

Excellent pub, very clean and brilliant homely atmosphere, would go again.

Booked a table got confirmation plus 2 separate emails including on the day! Went to book in we waited and waited being looked at by at least 5 members of staff and no one acknowledged us to then be told we wasn’t booked in and told that if you book online phone the up also. Why have an online service if we have to phone as well very disappointed and the lady that finally spoke to us didn’t seem particularly bothered either. Thankfully the food was good

We live locally and visit the Greyhound very regularly. Always have amazing food and the staff are so welcoming and lovely. Definitely recommend.

Deliciousas always. Friendly staff. Eye Candy at the bar serving us. What more can you ask for. ( He was gorgeous). I'm looking forward to next time. Thank you, as always.

This place is my ideal setup for food. Plenty of parking, lovely decor and the prices are pretty decent. Only negative for me was the large group of people smoking around the entrance. It's never nice having to walk through that. Note:. The beef bourguignon could have done with a few more dauphinoise potatoes :) Update: Hunters Chicken was nice too. Update (21/07/24): hmm Hunters Chicken is still very nice I'll have something different next time ;-)

Really nice establishment, just called in on a Monday lunch for refreshments and a bite to eat after a decent walk around, not too crowded but a fair few people in...well worth a visit if you're in the area...

Went to the greyhound today with quite a few people for a birthday meal, ordering at the bar was fine but food arriving was awful. People who had ordered off the general menu came but anyone who ordered pizza had to wait 20-30 mins for all the pizzas to come out. Everyone who had eaten normal food was finished before the pizzas arrived. Wasn’t asked if the food was okay either and very slow service after this of collecting plates

Went in to see breach band on Saturday night, brilliant.

A Marstons pub with a carvery that is popular locally. My biggest criticism is that everything in the bar is ‘pay as you go’, so I had to use my debit card 4 times which triggered a fraud alert from HSBC - silly really and something you’d never see abroad. Bog standard food. But 2 big rooms with plenty of space in the pub and a large carpark too.

Staff were extremely helpful and polite, we had a lovely meal there with friends

Really good food from a varied and extensive menu. Not over-priced. Anywhere serving Stokes condiments knows what they're doing on food side, IMO. Large bar/restaurant areas and outside seating too. Lovely meal in the evening sun - with a miniature Steam Rally in the car park! :)

The carvery is probably the best I've had in a long while, and weekends they sometimes have a live band in the bar,brilliant and friendly staff

Staff are friendly, service is quick and the food is alright. It’s a typical pub restaurant. Good amount of space for large families.

Ordered a chicken shawarma on a sourdough flatbread and what was given to me can only be described as disgusting. Cheap cuts of flavourless meat that seemed mostly skin and flat and grey in colour and served on what was not a homemade flatbread but obviously a shop bought naan bread. I physically could not eat the chicken. A member of our party when ordering a dessert was told part of the fruit needed to make it was mouldy so goodness knows the state of the kitchen. I will never eat here again.

The team at the Greyhound allowed us to book a large group table for a celebration event as this is my grandparents favorite restaurant. They were very helpful and kind. The food was fresh and reasonably priced. We will go again.

Went on a Thursday afternoon,the food was nice and the service was excellent , I would certainly go again.

Tuesday evenings 2 pizzas £18. And they are excellent. Lovely gent (bar manager) took time to speak to us, as did the younger barman as we were leaving. Excellent place to dine, try the Red Stripe beer.

I went to the greyhound today with my 14yo and my husband. I called in advance to see if needed to book I was told that I did t as there were tables available. Upon arrival I was asked if I’d booked to which I reminded them of our recent conversation. We were escorted to a high table to eat and told to order at the bar. We were not given menus so we had to sneak a peek at a neighbouring tables but I was conscious that one of the party didn’t have a menu. My son chose a buttermilk burger, myself and my husband opted to have a carvery. The beef was in the carvers own words “like pulled beef” and we had beef crumbs instead of slices. My son’s food arrived promptly, before we returned to the table for the carvery. My son ate some of his chips first and did his best to eat the burger but it was swimming in a very spicy sauce, I tried it myself as did my husband who really does like spice and even he said it was unpalatable. I addressed this with the waitress who apologised and said they would remake it which I thought was great service. A few minutes later the manager came out and said that she couldn’t refund the burger (which we didn’t ask her to) and she was unwilling to remake it unless we paid for another! I was astounded by her attitude. She then went on to say that my son instead could have a children’s carvery! He is a 14yo boy and did not want a carvery, else I would have ordered him a(n adult) carvery. I was utterly lost for words. I then went back to the bar and asked to speak to the manager again. She still point blank refused to replace his burger. Or anything else other than a childrens carvery (which to be honest we left most of ours as it was very poor as well). Never have I received such poor hospitality, she said I was welcome to address it with the owners of No 12 in Ashby who own the establishment. When we left, as we were getting in our vehicle I heard the most obscene language coming from the manager and the chef talking about our party. Effing and blinding and asking if we were “still there” to which she replied we’d left. Never ever will I set foot into this place again. The manager (Sam) wants sacking and the chef needs to understand that sometimes less is more with his sauces!! Kids running all around the place as well!

We hadn’t been here for about a year but heard the food was good We both had the carvery the meat was lovely but Women what happened to the vegetables? Parsnips were really dark brown and hard, carrots, peas and potatoes were ok Leaks were cooked in sauce ( not my choice) and the cabbage was cooked in wine and cream not my choice but my partner said they were ok. The Yorkshire were so hard I couldn’t cut it Not great and to top it the sauces at the end of the serving table weren’t labelled so what I thought was bread sauce to go with my turkey I loaded my plate with horseradish. It was so hot and ruined what I could have eaten Not a great experience

Great atmosphere. Good waiting staff. Starter was amazing but our main course was average. Not bad prices.

On this occasion i didn't eat here, I was only there to socialise and watch a live band. On previous occasions the food was nice, so I've not added and stars for food. When there is a live band, the atmosphere is very good. The band that night was ' Murder of crows '. Who are a covers band, but hell, do they rock 🤟. The service was really good despite a small bar area, but with plenty of staff serving you never go dry. Plenty of parking to the rear. Wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Worth a visit

This place has gone down hill recently. The quality of the food has declined and the service has gotten slower and less attentive. My partner ordered a burger without pineapple. It came with pineapple in it. We sent it back and all the kitchen did was pick the pineapple out and send the same food back, they couldn't be bothered to toast and dress a new bun. Luckily it's a preference not an allergy. It is not acceptable behaviour, you'll end up killing someone.

Went as a couple on the Tuesday pizza offer. Walked in and got a seat straight away. The service was good right the way through. The pizzas are large and very authentic and really tasty. There is a good variety, and you can have half and half. If you don't finish it they will box it up for you. Couldn't fault it. Two pizzas, two sides (chips and coleslaw), a large glass of wine and a coke for £33.

Excellent food, service a little slow and flat

Very very busy but expected for " mothers day " very helpful staff and glad we pre-booked the table . Great choice and wide menu to pick from ? If you have people who never know what to order " try them here " lol Try and book in advance , it's the best thing to do ! The carvery was unbelievable " the beef and Turkey were so moist " we had a standard plate and it was amazing with 6 different veg , roast potatoes , creamy mash , stuffing balls and big Yorkshire pudding ! Had a big family dinner there today and the place and staff was amazing 👏 great food ! Haven't been for a while but you still need to book to guarantee a table if there's more than four. Service was good and only ordered off the menu " still good food " friendly and helpful staff.

Costs a bit more but what you get is truly amazing! 4 of us went and all 4 different meals all were beautiful. Lovely definitely worth a trip out

Been a regular customer for years now but last night was poor from a trusted go to pub. Food was pre ordered still came out at different times ,carvery was barely warm food missing from the order not impressed for a birthday meal

We had never been here before but after a couple of recommendations we decided to book a table here for my daughters 16th birthday, the table was booked for nineteen of us.From the polite and helpful young man who we 1st booked with on the phone to our lovely warm welcome arriving this evening the atmosphere was so inviting and relaxing, start to finish the service was spot on.We had a variety of foods as there was few of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choice. The food, cocktails and desserts were delicious.Thank you to the team at the greyhound for making our experience so enjoyable, you guys work so hard and we appreciate you and for sure we will definitely be back.

Atmosphere good, Staff very nice, Carvery was ok but not as good as Toby Carvery or my home cooking.

Went to the Greyhound today for Sunday carvery, We were greeted by a friendly member of staff at the door and showed us to our table. We chose carvery and the queue was small, Food was fantastic and the staff so attentive. Atmosphere was lovely and I will 100% be going back.

Nice pizza- popped in to grab a couple of pizzas and some chips. Only took 15 minutes for pick up and tasted nice. Very large pizza!

On whole good first experience but couple of little niggles: - only one of us had starter but they didn't check that his cutlery was replaced when serving main course - glass collector tried to take glass with half drink still in it They need table numbers as all food has to be ordered at the bar Also I booked a table on afternoon of same day but wasn't told we be in bar area rather than restaurant area. Think it should be mentioned when you book as very loud band on so we left early Will visit again but wouldn't return if end up in bar area again

Had a family meal here for a large party was really impressed with the service food and whole experience .

Wanted to try here for a while. Very popular at Sunday Lunch sitting. Extensive menu choice. We both went for carvery- good portions, plenty of veg etc. Daughters gammon was good, but I changed at last moment to beef, which was a bit dry. Very good value Nice deserts too, friendly staff. Will be returning.

Food nice as usual. Young women serving carvery was abrupt & unfriendly. A smile would be nice. Music awful, to loud. Not the type of music you normally expect to listen to, while eating lunch.

Beautiful food, lovely friendly service, has midday weekday offers of 3 course specials or main menu, can always turn up and get a table midweek but weekends I would deffo try and book by ringing. Compliments to the chef. We come on our girls lunch dates regularly.

We visited here before Covid at it was just above average, but we visited again on 12/1/24, and it was excellent. The food was amazing, the 2 serving ladies (and they are ladies) were so welcoming, nice and helpful. We will definitely return!

Great place to go if you have a dog as they let you in the bar which is a pleasant place . Seating well spaced out so your not too close to the next table. Carvery was good, Steak pie was lovely, big battered fish, although chips could of been better.

Excellent meals, comfortable surroundings, staff always pleasant & eager to help. All inside clean & tidy, nicely decorated. Food service can not be faulted all at very reasonable prices, certainly one I would highly recommend. We arrived today for our evening meal, but unfortunately, we had not booked, but my wife & I shown to a vacant table for two. We had been told to wait & someone would be over to take our order for drinks & meals. We waited & waited for about 25 minutes & no one came, extremely thirsty & hungry, was not prepared to wait any longer, so left & told the member of staff that we was prepared to wait any longer! We have been loyal customers for a long time, sorry, not impressed with the service this time! Amazing improvement this afternoon, we called in & was happy that everything was back to normal with its quality food & Staff very efficient in a lovely surroundings. Hopefully, this service will continue. Keep up the good work, recommend once again! Great all-around service, everything clean & spotless. Meals cooked & served as requested. Waitress was polite, curtious & friendly. The Greyhound is back to its normal high-quality standard. It's my pleasure to recommend!

Would definitely recommend you visit , first class

The carvery is very good. Normally when I go to a carvery, the meat joints are cooked in response to demand, which means they tend not to be "melt in the mouth" tender... At the Greyhound the cook the meat joints at a lower temperature for longer and so by the time they find they way onto the carving table, they are so tender... ❤️ I try to go at least twice or three times a month. Less often and I get withdrawal symptoms... 😳

Worse night out ever waste of our money missed the entertainment as it was in other room where our table should have been the sweets didn't come out till 10.30 +as they came at different times so didn't get in the bar till nearly 11pm where no seats or tables were available so disappointed

dinner today could have been warmer carvery wasn’t piping hot the cauliflower looked a bit mashed up but it was nice , desert was apple pie and custard but was nearly cold so had to send it back the toffee and honeycomb cheesecake was delicious overall a good meal

A nice place, we had booked a table for 9 and it was in the bar, it was OK table. No table service thou so had to keep going to the bar to order. Food was OK, not very hot, noone came and asked if everything was ok either. The room and atmosphere was nice, music was a bit loud. Was looking forward to a carvery but as we weren't on that room I didn't have it, had lasagne instead

Lunch with a friend and a great find. The greyhound Inn has got everything right! Quick and easy table booking, loads of parking, beautiful inside. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in and guided to my table. Staff are all fab, friendly and polite. Food was amazing and prices are really good too. We also enjoyed a coffee in their big comfy leather wingback chairs afterwards. We'll be back!

Went for lunch 6 weeks ago and had fish and cbips. The chef must have worked at the crematorium before. Went for a 2nd try on Thursday and the food was rubbish Will not be going again.
