Visited on a Thursday night , ordered the lamb with creamy mash instead of roasted new potatoes. The mash was dehydrated cheap smash style mash I discovered after having a mouthful of powder which obviously hadn’t been mixed properly. Expensive and disappointing as they portray themselves as fine dining not cheap packet food.

Very nice restaurant. We would come here for a special occasion (it was our anniversary). Staff are very friendly and accommodating, but not overbearing. The food is superb - nicely presented, but not just a "painting on a plate", you actually feel nice and full afterwards. It was busy when we went (Sat evening), but the general chatter in the restaurant was pleasant and not too loud. Would thoroughly recommend.

Went for a birthday meal. We were given menus and ordered drinks. 20 minutes later someone came to take our food order but no drinks had arrived we had to ask them for the drinks again. The food arrived and only three of the four dishes we had ordered were brought. The waitress said nothing, so we waited for the fourth dish when it didn’t come we called the waitress to ask where it was and it turned out she hadn’t actually passed the order to the kitchen. Eventually the fourth meal arrived when everyone else had finished theirs. We were then asked if we would like to see the dessert menu which we said yes, said dessert menu was not brought to us. When we asked for the bill and to speak to the manager to complain the attitude was very much “sorry, not sorry” I’ll take a bit off your bill. A discount on the bill doesn’t compensate for the awful service we received practically from the moment we sat down.

One visit is enough. I’m always honest and try to say something positive even if it’s not somewhere I liked. Well, the bread selection was nice. The rest though, from the complete lack of character of the dining area, a big white box with spotlights, to the service to the greasy food was not good. Would not definitely not recommend.

What can I say, highly recommended by a friend, we booked in for a birthday celebration and a table for six. Plenty of parking on site and also on the road outside, warm welcome when we entered the Grey Goose and the team welcomed us to our table. Service was prompt and drinks orders taken with five minutes of being seated. Great menu and also a good range of specials to chose from, these are behind the bar but our waitress was quick to tell us of them. The restaurant is large and almost deceiving from the outside, we expected a quiet small village restaurant but the Grey Goose has a large spacious dining area and even on a busy Saturday evening, it wasn’t cramped. Food was great, tasty and well presented, two of us had the special 24oz T bone steak, other than America it has to be one of the most tasty I have had in the U.K., perfectly cooked, well presented and so tasty! The beef medallions taken by my wife and mum were tasty and full of flavour, fish and chips was cooked to perfection and the batter was very tasty! If your in the area or like us took a trip to enjoy the grey goose you won’t be disappointed, great staff, atmosphere and food, what more can you ask for!

So an early week date night but being December the restaurant was busy, but we were attended to and seated straight away. The decor and ambience were all very good and the service excellent all night. We ate from the Festive a la carte menu, and there was great choice, and not just festive food. The portion sizes were good value, and the selected produce excellent, an example would be the Tiger prawns in my starter, these can often be more like shrimp in some places but these were truly large and tasty. My wife's Brie was also equally impressive. Mains, comprised short ribs with various accompaniments but special mention should be made of the truffle mash! and the Salmon Fillet special with a giant couscous that impressively had great flavour (note I'm not couscous fan but I tried and liked this). We did have dessert, as based on the first two courses we could not, and they did not disappoint, a fantastic Stick toffee pudding, and a Chocolate mouse that was apparently delicious! All in all a fantastic meal, with stunning food and great service in a lovely setting...we will be back and have already recommended friends try it!

first time coming here, we went as a family last week, instantly greeted by a lovely waitress (we can’t remember her name but she had a bow in her hair if that helps?). Was instantly seated and asked about allergies etc. However there was a leak from the ceiling onto our table that the waitress noticed and went to her manager about (we didn’t even notice it didn’t affect us) and we were offered a new table. We declined it as stated earlier it didn’t affect us. The waitress was absolutely lovely and really really funny, saying how if we moved we wouldn’t be in her section and my wife said she’d fight the manager and a strong word to have this waitress if we were to move, as she was just so lovely. She understood my daughter was autistic and went into detail about what options there was and customisations the kitchen could make. Honestly amazing service. After this we were then forced by an older member of staff to move to another table where this staff member would be our server instead. She took too long to send us to the carvery even when it was empty and we just wanted our original waitress back. The food was absolutely devine and we felt it was good value for money, we will definitely definitely be coming back especially if we get our original waitress next time.

Very average and definitely had better carvery/ roast dinners from restaurants close by. Smoke from the fire dominated the restaurant, we all had to shower when we got home and all clothes had to be washed. Little ones eyes watering. Ordered drinks 3 times before they were delivered correctly. We were very much looking forward to the food as was a birthday celebration however the beef was chewy and the turkey had blood spots. Service was ok however not sure that all the staff getting their dinners and eating potatoes and crackling behind the carvery counter was appropriate for the price tag. Won’t be returning again in the near future as sadly so many better options literally up the road.

We met up with family here for some lunch which we had booked a table. The place was very busy, the car park in an ok size and just managed to get a parking space. We were taken to a table straight away. We ordered drinks which didn't take too long to arrive, however we were then ignored for over 30 minutes before we got someones attention so we could order food. We all had the carvery which this was really nice, some people got more meat than others it seemed with some of the people in front of us and other saw afterwards. The food was really good. Overall the staff were relatively friendly, service wasn't the best with staff standing around looking at people but not being overly attentive. The car park doesn't have any lighting so when it gets dark it can be difficult to see. The food is good. The decor is good. Overall this is a nice place to visit

Came here with high expectations and the initial ambience and welcome were good. Staff seemed friendly and helpful too, but the food was not really great. I had soup which tasted good but was lukewarm. My wife and a friend had prawns in sauce on lettuce leaf which was supposed to come with a vol-au- vent but this was missing. These complaints were told to the waiter who said ‘I’ll tell the chef’, he never came back. The pork portions were small and I had to pester for crackling, when it eventually came in a huge pile it was hard and inedible. It’s the chefs fault clearly in letting food like this leave the kitchen, as is not a cheap place. Pity.

Went on a Tuesday night for my daughters birthday. They have an early bird menu that runs until 6:30, i think, but you can also choose from the standard menu. 4 of us went, 2 chose from the early bird and myself and daughter had the steaks from the main menu, 1 with a pepper sauce and 1 with a stilton. All the dished were really tasty, only negative is that the early bird portions are not that generous, my partner is not a massive eater but she would have welcomed a bigger serving, even is it was just some more veg. On a positive note the steaks were fab, cooked to perfection and topped off with the tasty sauces. Very good, we'll be back.

We stopped here whilst travelling down to Heathrow from York, it is just off the motorway and half way along the journey and looked to be a good spot to get something to eat. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our seats. There is something on the menu for everybody. Our son chose the burger, my wife opted for the seafood salad and I had the ribs and we had a side of chunky chips. My son devoured his burger in no time and declared it was excellent and he would definitely have it gain. My wife's salad looked delicious, plenty of prawns and salmon alongside fresh crispy salad. My ribs were as good as any I have had in the UK, the meat literally fell off the bones and was wonderfully moist and tender and the bbq sauce complemented it perfectly. The chips were the chunkiest perfectly cooked chunky chips we've ever had, crisp and golden on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside. The portion size was ridiculous and the three of us could not manage to polish them off. The service was excellent, we will definitely call here again, it was well worth the slight detour.

Im a firm believer in second chances. However once again the Grey goose didn't live up to the standards everyone raves about . I came here 5 years ago and had a bad experience and tonight was no exception either unfortunately. We came out for a birthday meal to which was a disappointment if an evening . We were greeted fine , sat down and instantly asked if what drinks we would like . ( we had not even been given a drinks menu ) . The young lad went and got the menus and then instantly asked us what we wanted to drink before we had even opened it . Starters were actually really nice , couldn't fault them there. Main course - THE PROBLEM 3x fillet steaks 1x sirloin steak This is what we ordered , 1x of the fillet steak was cold and the 1x Sirloin was also cold . We told the waitress straight away and she apologised. She took the steaks off our plates and went to the kitchen and said it would be 5 minutes . It was more like 10-15 minutes so we sat with our chips and garnish on our plate whilst everyone else ate . I was just about to cancel the whole replacement because it took so long, when she appeared with the new meals to hand . Even though she replaced them , the sirloin was definitely a rump , the taste and the texture gave it away but I didn't want to kick up a fuss as it was my step dads birthday. Everyone else had finished their own food at this point which left two people eating and two people sat there twiddling thumbs again . Overall the experience wasent great , at not one point we're we offered a drink whilst we waited which would of taken the tone off the disappointment . In fact nobody actually came offer us drinks throughout the service apart from at the start . I'm not sure if it's because the staff were young and inexperienced, but they seemed robotic and scripted . When the waiter came to clear our plates he asked " was everything ok " I said no it wasent great to be honest. He didn't even reply or ask what was wrong ... Strange . I could slightly understand if they were busy , but they had plenty of staff on and it really was not busy at all . We asked for the bill , sat for a further 15 minutes whilst they didn't get the card machine . In the end we just walked to the bar and paid , as the old saying goes " if you want something doing , do it yourself " I think for a £200+ meal , to not eat all together and the way it was handled on such an occasion isn't acceptable personally. There's a reason you go to these upper pub/restaurants like this , you expect better service and food . The grey goose doesn't live up to its competitors in this aspect. I know other people have had a great experience here , however I must just be unlucky in the fact lightning strikes twice . I think you'd get better food/service at any of the other pub/restaurants around Leicestershire. Would I come back ? Probably not Would I recommend? Likewise no Shame .

We came to try a Sunday carvery costing £17.95 per person. We'd been here before for an evening meal, which we rated one of the best we've experienced. Today, trying the carvery, overall, the food was tasty, hot, and plentiful. But the veg was undercooked for my taste. Meats on offer were turkey, pork, and beef. I chose beef, and it was a bit too chewy for me. The roast potatoes, I think, had been kept hot for too long because the skins had become tough to cut and chewy. The gravy was very nice. I wouldn't choose to have Sunday lunch here again.

Went here for Sunday roast and it was very good, especially the starters. I had the liver pate and my friend had the goat cheese souffle which was honestly the star. The carvery itself was nice, but due to the time we went (around 15:30), the potatoes had gotten a bit dry. The cheese cauliflower was excellent though, and the turkey was the best. Perfectly cooked and prepared. The inside of the place is really well done - it's modern and updated without losing the charm of the old building. Our seating was cramped near bar area, but the table large. Food was very good overall. £24 for 2 courses Lunch. Bellinis starter disappointing. Main courses very good overall. Excellent apple crumble dessert.

Great carvery served by attentive staff in a bustling atmospheric restaurant with warm ambience and great selection of wines. Fantastic new covered outdoor space added for al fresco dining in the summer. Really popular. Back open on Mondays too with tastly Italian menu. Recommended.

Went for Sunday lunch 11th December. Although the carvery was good the restaurant was not. It was freezing cold, tables packed in, it was really noisy and you had to shout to be heard, and the knives were so blunt that cutting food was difficult. Please tell someone in charge to have the knives sharpened! Also, some of the wait staff seemed to do very little.
