We dined here on a Sunday evening. Upon sitting down to our rebooked we were told the kitchen closed at 6 so we had to order in 10 mins. The menu states they serve until 7pm on a Sunday. The waiter was miserable and there was no rapport or being made to feel welcome. We opted for the beef and pork roast dinner. Beef was plentiful but tough and I should have seen the red flag when the waiter gave us both a steak knife upon delivering our food. The veg was sparse but over seasoned with herbs and over cooked. Add to that a pre-made bought generic Yorkshire pudding and stuffing ball (with beef?) and you get the gist of the quality of the meal. At £18.95, I expect great veg and homemade yorkshires! At no point did anyone ask if the meals were ok and when we left over half on our plates, the waiter didn’t comment. We paid and left and will not be returning or recommending. It was a lovely warm evening outside but the service and atmosphere in the restaurant left us cold.

We booked at last minute for 6 of us an a little dog,well what a fabulous place , Food was absolutely delicious we all had a different dish from the menu an everyone’s was alas delicious, empty plates , can highly recommend. We will deffo be going back

A group of 12 were there on Friday 22nd March the owners attitude was THE WORST experience I have ever had no service at all, the ladies serving us were great but the owner needs a course in manners and how to smile to people forgot even paying customers certificate of the worst attitude on the way to you, you got an A+ for sure

The experience was all round perfect ,I had Calamari to start and it was perfect , I then had carbonara and that was even better. Then we finished off with a shared Tiramisu which was delicious. Service was also top and enjoyed my time😁

We regularly go to the Greyhound for a weekend drink. The atmosphere is always very friendly, it's a lovely environment and the garden is a very pleasant space. This week we had a lovely lunch with friends. I highly recommend Sam's special pasta it was delicious

We had a fantastic night out catching up with friends here. The food was excellent and the service was attentive without being intrusive in any way. This is a difficult skill to master. I have already recommended it to some of my foodie friends to visit.

Avoid! A terrible experience. We went as a family of 6 and it was the first time we’ve eaten there. Never again! The owner is the most grumpiest and rude person I have come across. You’d think he would welcome the custom but we just felt like we were an inconvenience. He clearly got on with his ‘favourite’ regulars who were very loud in the corner but he wasn’t attentive to our needs at all. The food was mediocre. I had a Sunday roast in which the vegetables were overcooked or had been heated up. My son had pizza which was burnt around the edges. My daughter had the spaghetti bolognaise which she said was oily. The drinks weren’t presented in nice glasses and with the minimum of ice in them. We paid our bill and left. Not even a ‘thank you’ or ‘goodbye’ from the manager as we passed him when we left. We won’t be visiting again.

Been here before, but our most recent visit was beyond disappointing. Sunday service, so arriving at 6.30 and told we have to order by 7pm (while this was odd, we were ready) but then had a waitress who never returned and we had to go up and order. Aranchini was not like it's been before, dry and stuck in a tin of tomatoes. Mains were inedible. Chocolate fondant was a dry, inedible display cake which between two, couldn't be eaten. Service was abysmal. Won't be returning.

Awful. Honestly one of the worst experiences we have had. My partner is a food blogger and we own a street food business together so we are constantly eating out and looking for new places. The sponsored Instagram post hoodwinked us completely! Poor service from the off, tissue stuck to the bread and olives, no offer to test the wine, no mention of specials, cutlery taken away after the starters and then slammed down on the table when I had the cheek to ask for some more. The food itself was bland, cold and boring. The mains were barely passable. The young lady serving was actually very nice, it was the head honcho who was rude and ignorant. The balsamic vinegar came out of the bottle in which could only be described as a clot, we imagine it had been sat there for quite some time. We really really wanted to try this place out and we were so looking forward to trying out the food, but, unfortunately we will never return.

Cannot fault this restaurant, Absolutely wonderful food , even though they were busy service was extremely good and polite staff looking forward to visiting again.

A lovely evening at the Italian Greyhound. Good food, good friendly service and only 5 minutes down the A 6. We’ll be back.

What a beautiful hidden gem of a place. Stayed at one of the rooms on premises and had some of the most authentic Italian food in Leicestershire. Excellent service, attentive staff and attention to detail! Will be returning very soon :)

A quiet Saturday was destroyed by a nine hour blitz of 'music' finishing after 11 o'clock. Never want to experience anything like that again. They should suspended their licence

I was there with my boyfriend he made the reservation because he knows I like Italian food. I was very disappointed. The quality of service and food it's zero. Not worth to spend any penny there. I expected Italian food but I think every women can do those meals what we have got it and spent more £100.

The main was average, you could tell it had been kept warm under a heat lamp, starter was nice. The service was horrendous, extremely poor, staff were rude, and impolite. Pre booked table of 15 and still didn’t have staff to be able to accommodate us. People were finishing meals before others had received there’s.

First experience last night of this Restaurant, in two words "don't bother". Repeatedly told - food is 25 mins, and it was nearer an hour Understaffed, all tables left with used plates and cutlery sitting. Getting a drink at the table was a task Waitress was stressed. Food not great, under seasoned sauces and not reduced enough. Steak night selected, steak tasteless and cheap. Compared to OGGI, not a bloody scratch

We got there at 6.30pm and they said the kitchen will be closed in 15 minutes so we were not impressed we were not told when we booked the table

We had a group booking of 10 family members celebrating our daughter's birthday, and we genuinely thought it'll be a lively place to have a meal with the entire family and celebrate a beautiful day. However, I don't think I have ever had as bad a service in any restaurant like this one! We weren't greeted at the door, found our seats ourselves, took over 2p minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us and that too because I called someone over to take orders...the kids food came AFTER the adults food, and that too as adult portions when we only orderd kids portions, massive waste of food, my linguine bowl was cracked right to the middle, we kept asking bar tender for condiments for menus for tissues....It was a joke!!! No apologies at any point!! After over £100 down we will never ever go there again!!

Manager had zero customer service skills, barely spoke to us but was very blunt when he did, got our food wrong, didn’t ask if food was ok, despite leaving most of the food on the plate as the steak was all gristle. The starters were the only redeeming thing. I watched him just put food on other people’s tables without saying a word to them. Waitress/hostess was lovely but looked like she’d had enough. Atmosphere was very frosty. We loved the food and atmosphere with previous owners so really disappointed. May have been an off night looking at other reviews but we won’t be returning.

Was my first visit but won’t be my last already booked again and will be staying overnight in their accommodation, food was excellent and service first class looking forward to my next visit 🤗

I booked the Italian Greyhound for a reunion with 2 school mates who I hadn't seen for over 20 years so was hoping for a great night and we weren't disappointed. We were given a very warm welcome by the owner and Manager. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and was very busy. The service was very good, the waitress that looked after us was lovely and we were all very pleased with our meals, 2 steaks and 1 Pizza and some lovely desserts. We had a brilliant evening and would happily recommend the Italian Greyhound to anyone.

We had a lovely meal here last night. The food was delicious, and the service quick and efficient. The restaurant was packed with a great atmosphere. So glad we found this place and will definitely come again!

We decided last minute to go out and stay local. I’m so pleased that we did. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive. food was delicious, There was a lovely atmosphere and even though the restaurant was extremely busy it didn’t affect quality of service or food. The portions were a good size and the prices reasonable. All around a lovely new local place for us to go. Thank you I recommend booking as it was really busy with no free tables.

Food average, service terrible. Mainly due to 1 waiter in particular who was just slapping plates down on the table wherever he felt like it for us to re-organise into the laid places, even if someone had told him it was their dish. When my main came out 30 minutes later than everyone else’s I had expected him to at least acknowledge it, especially as everyone else had finished, but no mention of the delay, let alone an apology. Considering we had to order in advance and there was only 1 other table dining, I don’t see how it could have taken so long. Won’t be going back again.

Decent Italian food. I’m honest with my reviews; it’s not fine dining, or the very best quality food, but you’ll get really decent tasty Italian pasta dishes when you can’t be bothered to cook, locally. So you can’t complain. Service is a little amateur, but the cooking is clearly decent. Busy little local pub with a side restaurant area serving Italian food and pub options.

Dreadfully poor service Sour beer Waited over 1 hour for pizzas which were not going to come No warnings the oven wasn’t switched on! NEVER GOING BACK

We booked a night stay in no, 7 , we asked for twin beds , got confirmation e mail but got a dbl bed !!! Only wall light switches on one side snd no table lamps at side of bed and no milk sachets for tea or coffee , not worth the mobey

Mothers Wake 14th February 2024 We as a family were very disappointed with the quality of the food and service we received. The sandwiches were dry and a little stale but also not the selection we agreed on. Although the cake selection was nice. The scones were like cricket balls. The food was not worth £16 per head and we catered for 70 people. Your staff could have been a little more friendly on this very emotional day. We felt we were a little bit of an inconvenience. On the day we were in a vulnerable position to complain as all our family, relatives and friends were there. The most annoying thing is that we have sent 3 emails and to this date have yet to receive a response. Very unprofessional. I suggest you don't consider having a wake here even though it is very convenient to Great Glen Crematorium.

Not having visited since the takeover to Italian, I was looking forward to the whole experience. I was soon to be disappointed. Firstly, we couldn't park in the disabled space due to another car parked in the way nearby. A box of tiles in the way of the entry to the back door and stiff door to open. Inside, the dinning room was absolutely packed, tables jammed together and the volume of everyone was loud. The main's only vegetarian dish on the menu was not available. The bread in a basket arrived 10 minutes after the starters. My partner's steak main did not come with crispy onions, homemade coleslaw and new potatoes as stated on the menu just Mediterranean veg and potatoes that were baked so hard you couldn't eat them. A friend's pasta dish had a piece of metal in it and all they offered in return was a free drink or dessert not a free main meal. Staff were sat close by eating their meal and playing loud videos on their phone whilst we were still eating our dessert. No-one to see us leave and to wish us a good evening! Need I say more...?

We had the wake of a close family member at the Italian Greyhound the staff are excellant the food was way above the 5 * it was Outstanding. Thank for providing the upstairs room as a quiet are some families and children. The large parking area to the rear next the the accommodation which was very clean abd comfortable. Thank you all once again

Mother’s Day Sunday lunch ,staff worked very hard , food when it finally came was realy good portions and tasty ( alas there were no “ crispy” roast potatoes or stuffing )we were offered a free pudding but we were stuffed ! but we all enjoyed our meals and will hopefully return to try the other delicious meals well done staff working so hard on a super busy day 👏 to make it lovely for us mum x

We ate at the Italian greyhound on Friday, I have to say the service was really lovely when we arrived, they where fast and attentive. The food was alright, I must say the risotto that two of us had was under seasoned and pretty bland, i hardly ever add seasoning to dishes but did on this occasion. The starters and the mains where really lovely however, especially the creme brulee 🎊

We have been here a few times. The food is delicious and the staff make you feel special. Amazing place for a night out. Highly recommended 👌

Pictures of the venue and food look amazing on the website. However, disappointed with both. Not much ambience. The place looked very tired. The waiter was abrupt and lacked finesse. Chicken was tough and the sauce cold. Presentation was not as shown on the website. Would not return or recommend

I was looking for a place that could cater for the Wake after my mothers funeral - I wanted something away from the traditional Indian wake meal that is normally served after a funeral. I have to say that Luigi and his Head Chef came up with a Vegetarian Wake menu that my late mother would have enjoyed herself. Luigi and his team provided an excellent service, main meals were served warm and the Tiramisu was delicious - every single guest and other immediate family members thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I am very pleased to have found The Italian Greyhound restaurant and I’m certain, that many other Asians will break the tradition and opt for Wake services as the one I had. I cannot thank Luigi and his team enough for putting on a lovely spread; combined with the service with a smile

Amazing food, we organised a large family gathering here and the food was outstanding.

Had a wonderful experience here today. I Chose the 2 courses for £16 we were seated in the window with a nice view of old great Glen. We both had the turkey crown, which was well portioned and really very tasty. For pud, I had the pistachio cheesecake, which was honestly out of this world. Great selection of drinks are available. There's a promising area being constructed out the back in the large carpark that looks to be a new outdoor dining area. Absolutely loved it there today and I'll be back to try the Italian menu, maybe one of the authentic pizzas. Thanks for the great service guys and keep it up.

This place needs new staff they are rude and don't think they should open Christmas day if you don't won't to be there we came to enjoy are self's your staff and food ruined that

Bedrooms are along one side of the courtyard. Ours was comfortable, warm and cosy with a bath at the end of the room. Being a busy restaurant, we were hoping to enjoy our continental breakfast with fresh coffee etc. Breakfast turned out to be more like a school packed lunch.

Sunday Lunch. It was amazing value £20 for 3 courses. Lots of choice and good service. The ingredients were freshly cooked (including yorkshire pudding and vegetables). The portion sizes were generous. My only tip to the owners would be to reduce the portion sizes on the meat and improve the quality by making it locally sourced. We will be back.

Italian food, risotto was very tasty.

I've heard good things about this pub in Great Glen, and it did not disappoint. Amazing service and very good food indeed. All items were cooked very well, including broccoli, which is always something that many restaurants do so badly. Lamb was the highlight, although the prawns in a spicy sauce with mascapone were a close second. Salmon and arancini were also well prepared. Thanks so much for a fantastic evening. This pun also does group bookings which I have heard work well.

In the last 6 months, I have visited this restaurant at least a dozen times and it has been great every time! The staff are lovely, food is incredible and the atmosphere on a weekend when they sometimes have live music is so fun!

Booked for lunch today. Didn't realise the pub had suffered bad flooding in last couple of days and wasn't actually open for service. We offered to go back another time but the chef insisted he would love to cook lunch for us. And so he did! Two fabulous pasta dishes followed. Great presentation, very tasty and piping hot. Very generous portions too. And the tiramisu was fabulous. Although we were the only diners the staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. A lovely lunch. Will certainly be going back again.

Great pub/restaurant that is guaranteed to exceed expectation. Was totally blown away by the menu and quality of food, I had the pollo speciale and garlic bread for starters which were both exceptional, especially the sauce that came with the chicken dish. For mains I had a 10oz sirloin steak that was honestly 10/10, dont let the price put you off as I would easily pay double for a steak that delicious. The decor was lovely, a blend of modern and traditional Italian style that transported me to Italy. The owner was very friendly and made my partner and I feel like we were regulars on our first visit, the same can be said about the management team who are all boasting charisma and personality whilst mainting professional service and standards. Overal an amazing experience that is highly recommended.

Went for Christmas dinner. The starter was really good, lobster raviolini but the appetiser (salmon/guacamole on circles of sliced write bread) and main (lamb with over boiled veg all drowned in thick packet gravy) were awful. Tiramisu dessert was average. Perhaps they were overwhelmed on Christmas day? The service was also poor with plates placed randomly on the table, and drinks orders taken after starters came out. It felt like they were annoyed to be serving us. A lot of money for what we got. Decent car park and donkeys in the field next to it.

We turned up on Christmas Day with no booking and the guys fitted us in and gave us the best service and great food, we can’t thank them enough!

Lovely Italian restaurant great food

Amazing food , well presented and quality taste. I cannot wait to tell family and friends to come and try. My fiancé and I will be spreading the word and will certainly be coming back! Great selection of drinks too! We came Rather early not knowing what to expect and the one on one service was excellent too.

A real old pub with excellent food in a lovely location. Definitely worth a visit. A short walk along a footpath from the crematorium if you are on your way to or from a funeral.

We were let down with our booking a year previous by the former owners. The Italian Greyhound with the new owners were absolutely excellent !!! We had a lovely three course meal with great service, the rooms we stayed in were spotless … We couldn’t recommend more highly, thank you Italian Greyhound !!!

We went for food, which was great, though the portions are very large. Lacked atmosphere. Chef is a very funny guy but other staff miserable.

We had an excellent early evening meal. We were out to celebrate birthday and had drinks in the bar then through to the restaurant. Access up the ramp into the restaurant. Main and a dessert. Service was excellent and so was the food.

Just had lunch here with our 18 month old grandson. Proper Italian food and hospitality - I love the way they love kids! My linguine carbonara was the best I've ever had and my husband really liked his too. I had a couple of bits of grandson's pizza - that was equally as good. We'll definitely be back!!

Lovely pub. A variety of customer group sizes from couples to large groups. Busy with efficient happy staff. Great decor, good drinks, lovely food. Give this place a try, for sure!

Great party organised in detail for 20 people in the private room upstairs ! Some dishes amazed the guests and staff was friendly and kind!

Booked a table, waited for over one hour after ordering our food, one plate out of five was put on the table and then we were told that the rest of us would have to wait, we waited a further 20 minutes for the remaining dishes to be served. Quality of food was poor, over cooked vegetables, processed stuffing. Turkey was okay, but the pork was chewy. One of our party refused to eat the food as it was tasteless and only warm, and although the manager came and offered replacement food, that was refused on the basis of the quality of the first meal that they’ve been given. The manager agreed a refund for that meal The four meals that came out 20 minutes after the first meal had been served had clearly been put in the microwave oven as they were very hot indeed, if it did have any taste when it was cooked - that had certainly been nuked out of it in the microwave! In all honesty, we weren’t happy to pay for any of the meals, but we asked for the bill - the deduction that was promised was still on the bill, so we had to ask them to amend it. We had five drinks, four tasteless Sunday lunches, and it cost £70, we were all in agreement that we’d had far better meals for much less money

Fantastic food, great service. Group of 4, we had pizza, pasta and Thai food and it was all top notch. A little noisy, but it was full and it was a Friday evening and considering that the waiting staff did really well. We've been before during the week and that's the time if you want a quiet meal.

First time I've been. Lovely seating area, Manager made time to acknowledge my daughter and even got chocolate cake which she loved. Was lovely of him even though he was busy. Will definitely come again.

We stayed overnight on Sunday and couldn’t fault our welcome. Our room was very comfortable, the only small issue was not having an opening window. Appreciate the building is old though, so may have restrictions. Our drinks and food were great, even when my husband knocked a glass of red wine over his food it was immediately cleared up and fresh food was prepared for him! Would recommend.

Felt that my food was expensive for what was served. £12.50 for a Burger you would expect something fairly exceptional however it was blackened and dry. My 3 year olds food was served on a scalding hot plate which I struggled to see the sense in. My partners Tiger Prawn Risotto was delicious though.

Unfortunately the two staff that served us were miserable. There was more food unavailable than available - apparently due to being in-between two menu's. The sweet potato fries were I would say old, double fried, and not very warm - of which were refunded on request as they were not eaten. The High chair was just so tatty- it didn't even have the correct fastenings and I had to tie a knot around my 18mth old daughters waist to fasten it- just buy new ones from Argos! Really disappointed.
