The Greenhills in Liverpool

A few years ago, pre-Covid, the Greenhills had a decent menu with some good variety, so we went quite regularly. However, Stonehouse have made the menu very uninspiring - it's now basically either a burger, a pizza or the carvery. The burgers and pizza are edible, but nothing more than that, not very tasty. The carvery is better though and is the menu's saving grace. The staff are friendly and service is mostly prompt, but the interior is lacking in atmosphere and badly in need of a refurbishment. It's location is the most convenient for us, but we tend to go elsewhere now. We hope that Stonehouse realises the market they are ignoring with their poor menu offering and also invests in the Greenhills.

Good average to a bit rubbish but the staff are lovely! So friendly and attentive and always have a smile on their face. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere to it as well.

Chef needs a course of Welcoming..

4 Adults and 5 children, we just turned up on the off chance and the lovely staff fitted us in. Food was excellent and the staff were great, very helpful.

Came in today and was served by josie. She was lovely and polite made us feel welcome and had great service. The carvery was perfect. really enjoyable I will definitely be coming back.

Great carvery/ Sunday lunch. Well organised. Good selection of drinks.

Absolutely amazing service lovely an friendly, food is lovely and fresh and always hot. Come here alot with family would definitely recommend every one to come here best carvery around .

Visited with my wife this morning , service was great , greeted by nice lady and paid for 2 breakfasts then proceeded to self service breakfasts. To be honest everything was either luke warm or cold !! Fried bread was chewy , bacon hard and beans as cold as they had just been poured out of the tin !!.my opinion the chef needs a lesson in how to prepare and heat food not just pile up too many items that stand there for too long. Come on green hills sort it !!!

I always like coming here,food ,staff and atmosphere are always excellent. The staff all work so hard.Nothing is to much trouble for them. Highly reccomend.

Not as good as it used to be, but still gave it 4 stars as carvery food was good. Staff friendly and place clean. Can't put my finger on why it doesn't appear to be as it was a few years ago. Free car park too.

Carvery only £6 , second time in less than 6 months.

We have been here many times and as usually everything was great overall, the only issue we had was we waited ages for our desserts (apparently there had been an issue in the kitchen) and by the time the desserts arrived they were almost cold. I guess it was a one-off issue!!

I attended with four members of my family yesterday 5 December 2024. We booked a table for a Christmas dinner. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. This Christmas dinner was no different to what you can get any other time especially the main roast. There was nothing Christmassy atall. I asked the chef what made the roast different to what you normally get when it’s not a Christmas dinner. His answer was a sausage. There was not even a Christmas cracker on the table. The place was empty, that says a lot. I’ve have been a lot to this restaurant over the years for a Christmas menu and it’s been festive in some way even if just a Christmas cracker. I will no longer be going here with my family at Christmas time and would not recommend to my friends. Greenhills you really need to sort this out and make more of an effort at this time of year for your customers, as I’m sure we’re not the only family that will not be returning again.

Carvery was very disappointing the food was cold & bland .My last visit to this place .Should have a microwave on the side to heat the food up .Meat was cold the vegetables cold complete waste of money .

Carvery is cold I honestly dont know how they get away with serving cold food not to mention how bland it all was

The service was very good. In particular, Luis was very accommodating and went to great lengths to ensure our experience was good. The chef also accommodated my food intolerance. Super lovely and thoughtful staff.

My waiter was a very kind man. His service was impeccable and I enjoyed a tantilising taste from franks burger where I savoured such delightful jalapeño donuts good job fella 🙌🏻

First time visiting. Staff could have been more helpful as I had a disabled relative with me. We wandered in not knowing the procedure for ordering nor were we shown to our table. By the time I’d ordered our drinks and got the carvery Tkts I carried the drinks back to the table myself not offered help even though I am also partially disabled. Food was cold and I had to again look for staff to ask for it to be reheated. It wasn’t busy and I feel staff had plenty of time to be more attentive. However there was a very nice Polish lady staff member who was friendly and chatty.

Meal out with family whilst visiting Liverpool. Drinks ordered then we were told that the only food available were the carvery or fish and chips. The carvery was bone dry with shop bought Yorkshires and the fish was tasteless.

Don’t bother ordering takeaway from this place. They had given my food to someone else, didn’t even apologise, and thought it was appropriate to offer me anything from the starters menu because it was too late for them to cook anything else. I had ordered a full meat carvery for context. If it was too late to cook anything else, that tells me the starters they were offering me were microwaved garbage. They tried to tell me they were not responsible for people “stealing” orders, when it’s clear that no one had stolen it, they had simply given it to someone else. Awful experience from top to bottom and not even any accountability.

Had a carvery few days ago, food was lovely fresh and hot. Service was speedy and polite. Will be back again

Lovely carvery here tonight, the beef and gammom were soooo tender. Highly recommended. Edit 4 years later on 6th November 2024 Great pub/carvery serving scrumptious food and a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The staff are amazing and so helpful and friendly. Big shout out for Lewis and Prashanth in particular... 5🌟. Good parking on both the pub side of the Greenhills and the Carvery side and a large outdoor seating area too (fab in the summer as it gets the sun from midday). This is a more traditional establishment and it's cosy and welcoming. All orders are done via the bar, but they will deliver your drinks to the table. The Carvery is delicious and they do as much as you can eat breakfasts too. Definitely worth a try 5🌟.

We are regular visitors to the Greenhills and i can honestly say the bar and front of house staff are fantastic . Tonight is another example Lewis and Prashanth's work ethic is second to none. They are so friendly and welcoming. We are so lucky that this is our local and look forward to being so for a long time to come.

Roasties greasy and pale rest of food just average. Wouldn't go back chefs were very pleasant

Quite dated fixtures/fittings, just the two diry toilet cubicles in the huge pub, bar is a mile away from the restaurant area, food was just your typical bland carvery and roasties tasted like they'd been sitting there ages. Staff were lovely and service was prompt, pricing was good but the google reviews didn't match my experience.

Awful! We had Sunday lunch here and chose roast beef, it was absolutely inedible, full of fat - it was actually half to two thirds fat! The potatoes were hard too. We complained to the waiter who apologised and offered free deserts, but the meals were the main thing we had gone for, so the "treat" was ruined. We definitely won't be going back

My kids had a lovely time today at the Halloween party. Great organization, nice prizes. They didn't leave disappointed. I highly recommend organizing your event at Greenhills.

The food is good but compared to other places there is not much variation or choice of different foods

Have a roast potato and expect it to taste nice, well this wasn’t very nice, they looked tasty but sat down to eat them they were really hard inside, there’s was hardly anything left on the 3 meats they had out and they were all very dry, we kindly asked the chef if she could bring a new meat out and she abruptly told us no we don’t have anything left, we then got to the mash potato, this was hard and crusty, very lumpy and very dry, we again asked for fresh food and were told again no we don’t have any, the salt and pepper wouldn’t come out of the shakers both were dried up, one person working the bar took 25 mins for us to get a Pepsi, I then asked the bar man were we are to get our desert and he said round there and pointed in a direction towards the window so we didn’t get desert as there was no staff available to help us properly

Have not been here in a few months and even though it's the same pub physically, it's definitely a different one atmospherically. The staff are fab but most of all the chef, Margaret, was fantastic due to changing the selection of food on the carvery to make it hot and fresh for us. The newly changed food was definitely well worth the slight wait. 🫶 Delicious

Our family absolutely love visiting here. My littles ones both go to local school and we’ve always felt welcome and received excellent customer service and yummy food and drink. Nicola and Lydia are particularly excellent members of the team and always make our experience special.

A good breakfast after a good night ha ha

I always enjoying going here a couple of times a week. The staff are always friendly, especially Lidia and Nicola.

Can be busy pub food place, carvery and other things on the menu. Not expensive. Quite big. Outside seating. In a subburb setting so parking all around.

Went for tea Thursday with friends,not normally a great lover of carvery but I have to say it was excellent👍well cooked,tasty and hot.Service was excellent and Angie went out of her way to help with my fussy friends many questions..First rate,we'll be back.Always a pleasure to eat here.

Carvery fare lovely and hot,freshly carved to order and amount generous enough, no lumps in gravy(phew),vegetables lovely (when fresh from kitchen) pick your time to get in line.

Came in today didn't fancy a roast. Had a burger the service on the bar by Kellie was fantastic. The food was delivered in a very timely manner. Kudos to the chef who made it. Will defo be back.

My party of 5 arrived for a lunch on a Monday. Very tired inside, in places wallpaper ripped, no soap in ladies toilet The only decent part of the carvery was the meat. Rest over cooked and cold, we all asked for it to be heated in microwave. We had to look for staff including for bar service Would not return

Nice place to relax and good quality

Ordered fish, mushy peas and chips today. Fish was a frozen rectangular one that you'd pick up in a supermarket freezer. It was hard and not nice. Chips were also not cooked throughout. I have changed my rating on this venue a few times from 1 to 5 and now to 2. It differs from time to time but food quality was the issue of this review.

Great size pub, tablets outside for when it's Sunny 🤔 but inside it's fairly big and they have a decent menu, and a carvery, but if you're in the area call in and have a drink and something to eat, but it's a great community pub 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Wow 😍. Ordered food for delivery on uber eats and we're truly blown away! This place most definitely provides quality AND quantity! The carvery is absolutely huge and everything is cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! You get loads of meat, a large selection of delicious vegetables and the star of the show for me was the roast potatoes 😍😍 absolutely amazing. Not a single complaint. Highly recommend to everyone and we will be ordering again. Thank you so much.

Constantly cancel Uber eats orders after you’ve already waited 30 minutes.

Reading the other reviews I feel like we went to another pub as the food was awful. Most of us had the carvery and four of us all said it was probably the worst one we’ve had. Very little choice, food badly needed replenishing but there would have been a 25 minute wait for it and we were all hungry. I had to smother my carvery in mint sauce just to get some flavour. The guy doing the carvery was very nice though. Very disappointing as it was a family reunion.

Lovely staff and amazing food. I was there with my family, we all ordered hamburgers and left amazed and satisfied. Everything was delicious and at a fair price.
