The Great Wall in Stockton-on-Tees

Such a fall from grace. Was once a great Chinese, but has taken a nosedive in quality. The chilli and honey chicken I ordered was incredibly watery. Would slosh and run off the plate. Literally red water with some spice and not the thick sticky studd you would exoect. Barely any chicken - rammed full of veg and fruit to fill the watery container. Suspect the rice was microwaved. It was dry, thin ling grain and like sand - not fluffy and sticky like you'd expect if it was made in a rice cooker. I'm not sure if new owners, chefs, or cost of living hit them so hard they have to use the lowest quality ingredients now. Sort it our great wall. You're just "wall" now.

Food has taken a really nosedive since the start of the year. Ordered special chow main meat was rubbery like it had been boiled as were the mushrooms. Only ever used Great Wall for over 15 years I’m afraid will be finding a new Chinese takeaway.

Excellent choice,friendly staff. Decent prices and good selection.

Every now and then at work we treat ourselves to a meal from here,ring up and order and collect when ready,great service,great food,fills you up ,prices ok ,will be back in a few weeks

Been a regular here for years, and we normally call into the shop to order but as we are all unwell today, we decided to call the shop for delivery instead. I’m profoundly deaf so used a text to speech relay app to call them from. Was spoken to rudely by the woman on the phone and told that they were not a shop and hung up straightaway even after I said I wanted to make an order for delivery :( this really upset me and it was a clear discrimination, definitely lost my custom now

Good convenient takeaway, great food, nice staff, love it. I'd eat there for every meal if the wife would let me ; )

Was boiling hot today but still fancied a curry from here and it was delicious and made me full,great service but was £6.40 and the place was dead.plenty of choice and shop clean and covid friendly.worth a try as probably best one in area.

Lived in norton for 12 years and tried countless Chinese takeaways and there’s always something that lets them down…..until now! Amazing food finally and will not be going anywhere else from now on. Chinese how it’s supposed to be. Thanks for a great meal and many more.

There are only 2 Chinese takeaways worth going to in Billingham - both in old Billy. This is the best of the 2. Food always good quality. Speediness is always top notch. Prices look good - but Im a terrible person to judge that. The ONLY criticism I have is that the menu does not include Singapore vermicelli rice noodles and the spare ribs are more like cubed knuckles than a whole rib (and rather fatty and dry). However thats not a game changer. Everything else is just as it should be.

Had a beef curry here today ,spot on delicious and fairly hot though price increase of almost a quid ? may still call occasionally for a treat .a few waiting outside so popular takeaway

WORST CHINESE IN THE NORTH EAST

We normally use great wall. Never had a bad meal from there. Very quick delivery and always piping hot!

Have used this family run take away for many years, it’s Standards have never dropped, you get friendly service with tasty well priced food.

always polite and friendly they save your name in the phone so no hassle once you re- order love the food always quick and delicious.

I have been coming this place for years but no more. I asked if the curry sauce contained milk products and was basically told they didn’t know .. a look at the box it comes in would have answered that but I guess they couldn’t be bothered? So I ordered one egg fried rice and one without egg, there was literally no difference in them apart from one rice grain sized piece of egg. Chips were all bad and scabby as well so a total waste of money.

Food is always delicious and hot, and they are always happy to do any substitutions/additions to dishes. My go-to Chinese

Have been getting takeaways here for a Long time but the last couple of curries have been awful! Far too hot to how they normally are - thought once maybe there’s someone different in the kitchen but the same happened this week! Won’t be returning!!!!!

Best Chinese in Billingham, food always good quality and lots of it. Customer service is second to none. I don't believe any reviews of this place that don't get good customer service. It's a family bussiness and I am trereted like part of it every time I go in.

Love this takeaway, Lady on the phone who takes your order is lovely, happy and polite. Food arrives within the hour and is hot. Prices cheap and I love the chicken curry, plenty of chicken in it and they only use chicken breast.

There are numerous Chinese takeaway's within a few miles radius of this place and I can say I've tried them all but return here every time as the service is good the food is terrific and the price is right ,and as they deliver what's to lose

Service and food is fantastic. Best Chinese in Billingham. Everything fresh and tasty. Will always accommodate and adapt any dish of there is something contained within a dish that you don't like. A bit of advice on weekends I would order rather than just turn up as they are busy due to the fact that they provide nice food.

Very good take away for dining on a budget. Family run take away, staff normally very helpful with delivery if you require it. They have a very varied menu to suit most tastes, not high class but basically a good take away.

Excellent take-away. Great choice and always willing to make custom dishes for you. Probably best to telephone your order as it is very busy. They will always look at charging you the cheapest option. Plenty of parking outside well worth going a few miles out of my way for this great food.

Just been told it's the computer's fault the price quoted on the phone is cheaper than the price asked for at the door when the food is delivered. This has happened several times so I rang up to complain about the incorrect price AGAIN. Was told I could go elsewhere is I wasn't satisfied. Lovely customer service!!!

It had been a long day, so decided on a takeaway.Ordered the chicken with plum, as well as the chicken with ginger and spring onions.Really enjoyed them both.

Best Chinese takeaway around in my view, we have a few which would be few minutes drive in Middlesbrough but is worth the 30 minute round trip to the Great Wall, Mill Lane, Billingham. Great foid & large portions, Great service from Jayne and they deliver locally ... Once you try them you won't want to go anywhere else.

Been going to The Great Wall for years, live the place, can honestly say never had a bad meal, staff friendly, great value for money,the only thing I don't like is when they fill dishes with onions peppers carrots ect, so I just ask for no veg, and that's that problem solved.. So give it a go, you will enjoy..

Food was okay, bulked the dishes out with onions which was annoying, will be going back to Fortune cookie.

We use them all the time as we live round the corner, they have great food (best chinese curry around) and always fast if collecting it yourself. Great Stuff

i am going to become a regular, the food is faultless and the service is speedy and efficient. do try the fried rice and chicken curry it cannot be beaten.
