Ordered 2 duck meal takeaways the duck was overcooked and was inedible with thick skin attached. Will not be going back.

Has the potential to be a really good restaurant, the food is spot on, but the service is one of the worst I've ever encountered. Booked a table and seated straight away when we arrived, ordered drinks then ignored for 20 mins. Finally ordered and waited about 40 mins for our food to arrive. Others weren't so lucky 1 table had been there 2 hours and had ordered extra food to take away, they had hadn't even started cooking it when they went to leave, another table had there starters and gave up waiting for their main, paid for the starter and left.

Really long wait for food ,food wasn't good. Won't be back in a hurry

Lovely food when it finally arrived. Came for friends birthday at 5 30pm before going to the forum for a show at 7 30. Food ordered we got the soup and spare ribs. Then waited over an hour for the rest of the food which was lovely but not happy as we had to rush it to get to the theatre in time. We kept asking them where it was people were coming in and finishing the meal and leaving before our food arrived. Motto don’t go there if you are going to the theatre or allow 3 hours as we only allowed 2

Lovely food and service as usual from this place. I always try something new and always love it. Everything is always spot on

The Manager/owner is the most miserable so and so I have ever met, he needs lessons in how to treat customers and staff. Used to go quite often but won't be going again.🤬

I went with a group of friends almost on a whim. I, and the rest of us were so glad we did! The food and service were really, really good quality and at a very reasonable price. 4 of us, we had the set meal for 4 altogether with drinks £100. We all decided this would not be the last time we would visit! If there was a negative, the 'facilities' are a bit in need of attention.

Tonight we phoned in an order at 6.25pm. We were told it would take 50 minutes as they were busy. Didnt mind. So 7.15 we arrived out the back. 8.10pm i was still stood waiting along with 7 other people. People who were told 8pm were all getting served so all 7 of us asked how long ours would be and the young girl said ....here.. if you dont like waiting theres plenty of other chinese to go to. Fine. I promptly phoned lotus express for a home delivery and came away. Such a lovely night in the cold and such a lovely attitude from the girl. Obviously they are so good that they dont need the custom. I order here every week and have family meals inside but i now have a bitter taste in my mouth !!!!! Annette

Worst service ever. Waited an hour for starter then over 30 mins for main. Staff couldn't care less.. more interested chatting to each other than taking empty plates/bottles away or bringing food out. Hubby had to send his meal back it was so overcooked then got questioned by one of the cooks who wasnt happy. Asked for two portions of prawn crackers.. only received one but they tried to charge for two. They obviously prioritise the takeaway orders over dine in. Used to be nice in its day. Will not return.

Placed an order for pickup and got told an hour. When I arrived an hour later I was then sat in the car waiting another 40 minutes. An hour is long enough to wait nevermind lying and leaving your customers outside the back door waiting longer. I've seen loads of reviews saying the same thing. Greedy owners!

This place is an absolute billingham gem! Lovely authentic food and a lovely retro vibe, however if you are wanting a flashy restaurant this isn’t for you. The food is amazing, it has ✨good soup✨ and as someone who is a lover of good food this is a definite must try. I’ve been coming here for years and honestly I couldn’t recommend it more!

Best Chinese I’ve ever been to. It’s a shame they don’t deliver they’d make a fortune. I’d recommend hot and sour soup Salt and chilli ribs and HS fu yung 😋

First visit to Li Wah with family members who go there regularly. I was very impressed with the food and service, both first class. Very helpful and friendly staff. Would certainly recommend and will definitely visit Li Wah again!

Ask if they would be half portion of rice and noodles for a child they wouldn't Coke was from a big bottle it was flat Wouldn't visit or order again from here

We love Li Wah as they serve lovely food at all times. However we have noticed the last couple of times we have been there the restaurant has been cold, no heating on and quite a chilly night. We were cold which isn’t nice when you go for a meal. The toilets could do with updating too.

Love this place for a nice sit in chinese! Curry sauce is gorgeous, special fried rice is tasty and fluffy, sweet n sour chicken is to die for ! Always come for a weekly chinese weather it’s sit in or take away !

Meal average. Not a very clean place, entrance shabby table linen stained. Guy on reception was more interested taking orders for takeaway. Lovely waiting staff but needs training.

Went for lunch, 3 course for £6.50. You can’t fault it for the price, plenty of choice and tasty food. Will definitely go again.

We went with friends and decided to get the set menu for 6 people. The volume of food was unbelievable - 6 mains! The rice was the best I’ve tasted. Ok the place itself is a throwback from the 70s, but disregard that and enjoy the quality food.

Popped in for lunch and ordered food off the three course lunch menu. Our piping hot delicious food arrived very quickly accompanied by a bread roll. Next my Chicken Chow Mein arrived, the chicken was so tender and moist and the portion size was good, Inso enjoyed it. We finished with tinned fruit cocktail. Overall the service was very good, the waiting staff efficient and helpful, and the food delicious and good value. Will definitely return.

Still going strong after all these years

By far the best Chinese in Billingham. The BBQ ribs and salt chilli ribs are to die for. This place would be even better if they delivered.

I have not used this Chinese for a long time (years) even though it is within walking distance. My usual takeaway comes from the Happy Valley in near by Norton, but lately the House Special Chow Mein has become bland & tasteless so I thought I would give the Li Wah a bash. Nice surprise. Good portions; the House Special Chow mein was tasty and full of meat including pork which is never in the Chow Mein at Happy Valley. Nice polite service too. The bonus was the price; great value!!!

The food is always fabulous. Service is very quick and food is always piping hot (speaking as a sit in guest). My only reason it didn't get excellent is the decor. It brings the atmosphere down a bit. Not a massive deal but it's been the same for at least 20 years, badly needs updating. Very dark and dingy. Food and staff are fabulous though just needs a new lease of life.

Lovely meal before we went to the theatre. Had spring rolls to start, hubby had Hot & sour soup, I had Chicken curry, he had mixed veg & Beef stir-fry, chips & rice and two pints of Stella.... £25.00 brill.

Every time we come here we always get a warm welcome and the food is always on the ball. The place has a dated interior but you can not knock the quality of the food

Have been eating here once a week for a few weeks now. Last time was 14 April, lunchtime. Food & service very good at very reasonable prices.

Called for a takeaway the other night and had three dishes. One was superb but the two others were quite bland and it was difficult to differentiate between them as to what they were. The food ‘preparation’ and presentation is good but we were disappointed. However, we would return and try different dishes.

I've been eating from this restaurant since I was very little. Never ever had bad food from here, always make a trip in when I'm visiting family in the area.

Seemed to do a lot of take away orders, judging by the number of people waiting, which indicates a certain quality. That is not reflected in the restaurant, dire surroundings that would disgrace a Greasy spoon cafe. Food was edible, in fact the chicken in black bean sauce was pretty good, but that was the one and only high point.

Although we live locally we haven't eaten here in a long while. What a wonderful meal we had last night. We have been missing out. We will go more often.

14 family members celebrated birthday here. Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning. They also do takeaway and the food again is excellent. Good sized portions.

This restaurant has been a staple of this town as long as I remember. It's a proper Chinese restaurant with good honest food. No frills, just good food with good service. Great price too.

The food in here has been good for as long as I can remember , always tasty and fresh. The only reason it hasn't had 5 stars is the decor and atmosphere inside the restaurant could do with updating

Attended here with the family for tea. Food is lovely and staff always accommodating, very attentive and willing to do whatever they can for you. It's an old place, I've never known it to be decorated or updated but I like that, it adds to its old fashioned charm of chinese restaurants I remember when I was a child.

It's a chinese take-away that has a sit-in restaurant. Staff were friendly, decor's somewhat faded but okay, and there isn't a massive amount of room. It's not a fine dining experience, but it's not supposed to be one either. It's the chinese take-away equivalent of a fish-and-chip shop with seats. Perfectly adequate and I'd go again if I was in the area and wanted that sort of thing.

Family of 4 - Friday night. Decor outdated. Paper tablecloths. Paper serviettes. Waitress messed up our drinks order, she eventually brought starters but main courses were brought out one by one and very slowly. they forgot my daughters dish and after asking where the last dish was, it was a further few minutes when they eventually brought it - it must have been at least 10 - 15 mins by the time they brought it out but by this time our food was cold. We asked them to warm it up but they said they wouldn't. Oh and although the waitress told us that the rice portion was only for 1, there was enough in each portion for at least 2 people. Maybe cos the rice was extra £? 1st visit so maybe we were just unlucky. We wont be going back. Takeaway might be ok but wouldn't recommend sit in.

This place has been here for years and is a family favourite. Good food, good value and good service. Wish they would get a "proper" bar, but then again the drinks are not too expensive and its above a busy bar anyhow. Deffo worth a visit :)

Nothing at all wrong with this restaurant if you want to eat in the 1970's . Frozen spring rolls, waving cat, moving water picture and staff in bow ties.

After lots of good reviews on our local FB page, took our grandchildren in for lunch. Sadly disappointed, I had the strangest Chinese soup ever, like tinned chicken soup with spices, we are still waiting for our four fruit juices ! Maybe because we ordered coke for the girls they thought they didn't need the fruit juice. Main course was good, however the request for dessert went like this "You want ice cream "? "Have you got anything else"? "Ice Cream"!Also sadly the service was so very slow, in fact clearing our first and second course dishes took about Ten attempts, it took nearly two hours to get through our meal.

This used to be a regular haunt both for a take away meal and sit in. Sadly moved out of the area but called in for a sit down meal and the food was just as I remember absolutely delicious. Full of flavour and presented well. Staff were charming as always but not intrusive, pleasant background music and I sat at my fav table aside the picture window overlooking the centre. Cant wait to return.

The food is excellent, I have tried several of the dishes on offer and found them to be top class, the menu is vast and there is something for everybody.The Li Wah is above Weatherspoon's in the town centre which can be a little tricky to find.

Staff a great and very helpful and the food is delicious.Didn't have too book just walked in off the street really nice experience.

I've had takeaways from Li Wah a few times. It's a bit pricey for what you get and I personally think other chinese takeaways in the town are better value for money and tastier. I've never sat in and probably wouldn't as it's usually very quiet and seems to lack atmosphere.

A really atmospheric restaurant with sublime food, lovely staff and reasonable prices. A true gem. A must visit place.

Went in today with a mate because Wetherspoons was full, what a great choice! The food was superb, and three courses for £6.50 which were all first class. We will certainly be going back again soon. Great food and very attentive staff.

This place has been here for years and hadn't been for years. We went for a meal after a few drinks at the pub below it. We really enjoyed it, great food, friendly staff and a cheap bill at the end of it. We will be back soon to try another dish. Well recommended.

Never eaten from here before was always a bit put off after hearing things about the place which were negative. But was very impressed. Had the sweet and sour cantonese style chicken. Was absolutely beautiful. Would definitely order a takeaway from here again!

Staff are always friendly, is pick up only which is a bit of a pain but food is always lovely and warm. Not the best in billingham but still a nice place to get a takeaway. Inside of the restaurant needs updating as is very dated.

For a start this restaurant is located in a dark corner above a noisy pub in a throwback 1970's style shopping centre... The outside Decor leaves a lot to be desired uninviting and dull.. On Arrival my partner and I were unimpressed with the interior decor which looked anything other than a Chinese restaurant.. Off putting factor No1. Walking to our tables we noticed other customers meals, one which was chips drowning in a sea of curry sauce. Off putting factor No2 After being seated for like 10 seconds we were asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered two cokes that arrived nearly flat with half melting ice cubes... Off putting factor No3. Ok the Menu.. Page after page of over priced dishes that didn't tally well with the restaurant that we found ourselves sitting in.. Seeing dishes like crispy shredded beef in the starter menu?? Erm NO! After getting through a near 15 page menu we decided against dining here.. Paid for the cokes and left...Top candidate for kitchen Nightmares Gordon would have a field day with Li Wah!

As a group of five we have been visiting this restaurant for many years.Several of the staff changed autumn of last year and possibly the chef as we thought the standard had gone down a bit.We gave it another try last week and were pleased to find it back to its best ,the food was excellent and the service also.If you want a great meal at a reasonable price its well worth a visit.

The restaurant was taken over in September 2014. Apart from adding a few different dishes the menu has'nt really changed. The food is still first class and the service is still more than first class.

I took my friend to Li Wah's Chinese resterant as she was here for only a couple of days and loves great food, we ordered our meal when we arrived and a drink, the food came out very quickly , piping hot and very nice the staff here are very friendly and served us with a smile, I would recommend this resterant to my friends

There is no better take-away chinese is Billingham. They are simply the best when it comes to quality and service. Eating in is good, the decor is abit dated and the whole place could do with a bit of touching up but the service and food really make up for this. Excellent and never been disappointed.

This has been in Billingham town centre for at least twenty years and probably more than that. The food is really good and well priced to suit your pocket. It has to be good to have survived so long and is definitely a great addition to Billingham town centre.

Li Wah has been a constant presence since, in my memory, the early 70's. Great value and unwavering quality. Went back today for a takeaway for three dishes 2 curries and oyster sauce. Very tasty and enjoyed by all. Nice to know somethings can always be relied on. Staff very good and helpful.

We visit Li Wah's a couple of times every month and have never been disappointed! We try other Chinese restaurants around the country, but they so far haven't compared to Li Wah's! How lucky we are to have a gem of a restaurant on our doorstep! The food is delicious, always cooked to perfection! Our favourites are the sizzling fillet of beef and the Singapore rice sticks which is actually vermicelli noodles. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The pink Austrian blinds and decor won't be to everyones taste, but hey, the food more than makes up for this! The restaurant has been in Billingham forever, they don't advertise, they dont have a facebook page etc because they don't need to. Anyone who has tried the food knows how good it is!

This has been a great place for years, I have enjoyed it eve since I was a child. The food is great, good prices, friendly staff, and the place just has a lovely atmosphere, I just so happen to be visiting again tomorrow night for a family occasion. Highly recommended.
