Some of the best bread you'll ever taste. Simply fantastic. All the superlatives in the other reviews are totally justified.

One of the best sourdough loaves I've had. Sweet buns were good to. 5 star. I wish we lived nearer..

This bread is so good, that when we visit friends in other parts of the country, a Grateful Bread loaf and some buns are always part of our visitor's gift

This bread is the worlds best bread. You genuinely won’t find better tasting anywhere. My two favourites are the Hexham sourdough and the malted brown. Babka buns are really lovely too, and a real treat. Lots of local cafés and restaurants use their bread, which is no surprise. The do sandwiches now too, but I haven’t tried them (yet), but the fillings sound really tempting and delicious.

Yes it's true, they really do make the best bread in the world. Their magical produce isn't really comparable to supermarket bread (even the posh stuff) - it's almost like it's a different food completely: but it's bread alright, just bread perfected. Crunchy crust, soft and chewy inside with a gorgeous open texture. Bread of heaven. Have at it!

They make the best bread I have ever tasted, it is truly delicious. You have to be quick off the mark to make sure you get to try it as they sell out so fast - especially their cinibunz which are to die for!

We've loved all the bread we've had from Grateful Bread and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any loaf they're offering. Yesterday I tried the Chiabata, which was apparently an experiment and not on general offer yet. It was fabulous! Light but substantial - made the best ever toasted ham and cheese sandwich (My recipe: toast the ham and cheese on one slice under the grill first, then put second slice on & toast that, turn over & toast other side). I hope this loaf goes on the regular list. I'm going to sound like a 'plant' but their bread is like a totally different food-stuff than what passes as bread in the supermarket.

Exceptional. Some of the best bread I have tried in this country. The warm cinnamon buns are delicious first thing in the morning and the sourdough has a beautiful crumb and flavour.

A friend got me a loaf from here last week. Little did he know that he was about to alter my whole outlook on bread! It was incredible. The loaves are enormous but I could easily just have one as my entire meal. Have tried the Hexham Sourdough and the Seeded so far. I am going to try the baguettes but they keep selling out!

guarantee once you have tried this you will never go back to the supermarket offerings. truly magnificent, the baguettes especially, fresh out the oven, still warm and slathered in thick melting lumps of cold ampersand butter which they also sell, close your eyes and its like you had just visited a boulangerie in rural france. its also great to talk to a true artisan like Alan, a baker with passion who enjoys their work as much as he does.

Tried Hexham Sourdough, seeded sourdough and their Rye loaf. Absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. We wish them every success because they truly deserve it.

If you've tried supermarket sourdough and thought "it's no different from any other", give it one more go and get it from this incredible bakery. I don't care whether you go for white, baguette (only Tuesday and Saturday) or malted, they're all fabulous. The best sourdough outside SanFran (which would be a long way to go for bread. Even for me, and I really love bread.). However, the star of the show (other than the fabulous staff) is the roggenbrot, a hugely moist, heavy rye sourdough. It's a bit ugly to look at, so close your eyes if you have to, but wait til you taste it. Best toasted, with really good butter. Which this bakery also sells. Ooh, I love it when a plan comes together!

If you're in the Hexham you can't leave without visiting this place, if you're in Northumberland make a trip to Hexham, if you're not in Northumberland, go to Northumberland anyway. Make sure you get there early though, they sell out quick! The sourdough is out of this world. Warning: will put you off bog standard supermarket bread for life.

Me and the wife visited here for a full English breakfast , and I must say it’s one of the best I’ve had , food very fresh and hot , caramel latte best ever, and the staff very friendly . Highly recommend, free car park at the rear.

What a wonderful place to have a cup of tea! We were visiting the Heritage Centre next door and were taken in by the quirkiness of the idea and decided to have lunch in the carriage. We were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming young man who gave us a few minutes to make our lunch choice. The tea was served in a traditional tea pot in “proper” china tea cups which was just perfect. Our food choices were soup and a cheese scone, ham and cheese sandwich and a sausage and bacon bun, all presented lovely and totally delicious. We were on holiday in the area and wish we live closer as I’d visit all the time. The prices were very reasonable and the service from the staff faultless.

You have to try afternoon tea here! Likely need to book in advance, we were given a great choice of sandwiches when we booked. On the day, we were seated upstairs right by the window looking over the sea, a fabulous view even on a grey winter afternoon. The food was delicious, more than we could eat though we gave it a good go. Good mix of savoury and sweet, some other afternoon teas elsewhere have too much sweet stuff. Suzanne, the owner, and the staff are so welcoming and helpful, and the cost was so reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

I was recommended the Bari Tea Brewery by a friend and was not disappointed. The range of teas on offer was vast with many interesting flavours! I had the green ginger tea with a scone which was freshly baked and was very tasty! Service was very good and all the staff very friendly.
